Andrea, a wealthy Upper East Sider, meets Jace, a musician from the Bronx, one day at Central Park. The two become inseparable but find themselves struggling. Is love strong enough to keep them together and heal old wounds?

This story had so many layers and though I felt some similarities to Daisy Jones and the Six (particularly the travelling as a band part) -- what unfolds was pretty ugly and frustrating. We explore topics of grief, deception, betrayal, difficult upbringings, family dynamics and more. For the most part, things seemed black and white, but given the history, things get muddy and especially heartbreaking towards the 2nd half. Overall, this was a rollercoaster of a read and I found myself tearing up at the bitter sweet, yet complicated circumstances of this story.

This book wasn’t for me and it was not able to hook me from the beginning. I do love the cover of the book as well as the title and would recommend it to anyone who loves romance.

the first half just dragged on too much. I did not care for the male narrator's voice and I found it hard to listen to. It just wasn't for me.

What a fantastic story about what happens when two people met and grow together and apart and all the space in between. Told from the 2 main characters pov it follows their story from meeting growing apart and meeting again and everything in between. Both narrators capture the heart of both characters and bring the story so true alive. They made me laugh smile and cry. Feel anger and made me wish things were different. I loved every second the only bit that could jave been better is we learnt more about the female character's life in the space where they werent yogether than we did the male and thats it. A solid 5 star

The cover of this book is what had me drawn immediately. ITS SO PRETTY. Sarah Ready is good too. Hehe.

This book. Made me smile, cry, smile some more. It had all the feels. Its a heartwarming story about never giving up on love. Sarah Ready did a great job with character development, storyline and the overall togetherness of this book. Jace and Andreas love story is one that I will remember for a while to come. Following the couple through three parts of their life was a great storyline.

The narrator did a great job portraying the characters and the storyline.

Will totally recommend this charming, funny, warm, sweet and loving story.

*Spoilers alert* When I requested this audiobook as an ARC, I did not expect that half of it would be your typical YA and the other half involves a love triangle. There is no indication in the blurb apart from hinting that the couple would encounter many obstacles in their path to true love. Thing is, I really am too old for YA and love triangles are really not my thing. The first half was excruciatingly drawn out and the second half devoted too much time on this secondary romance that I really did not need. Remember Jace? The love of your love whom you met again after painful years of estrangement in a dream reunion only to give him nary a thought for the next six years.

This audio ran for 13+ hours but could easily be edited down to 8-9 hours. Great narration.

Andrea and Jace are meant to be together. They know it from the moment they meet in Central Park. She’s a wealthy girl living in The Tower playing by her parents’ rules, and he’s an orphaned musical prodigy living in the Bronx. Despite their differences, they really see each other. But what happens when life tears them apart? Can they find their way back to each other all those years later?

I loved this so much. The author did a great job painting the scene, and it felt like escaping into an epic love story movie every time I picked this one up. It made me feel all the things and was a really sweeping and moving story of all the different kinds of love. Broken into three parts, you really got to go through life with these characters and see their development and how various events affected and changed them. The depth of the story was really gripping, and I didn’t want it to end.

Thank you to Sarah Ready, W. W. Crown, IBPA, and NetGalley for the advanced listeners copy in exchange for my honest review. This book is out now!

Not my favorite book of Ready's. I felt that it was a little long. It took me a while to get into, but I enjoyed learning and seeing the love story develop.

I didn’t think it was possible to feel all the emotions in one book - love, loss, hope, happiness, heartbreak, shock, pain, et cetera. “The Space Between” delivered each of these and so much more! At its core, the book is a romance, but it is also a book about finding your purpose in this life. It is about coming of age, dealing with turmoil, finding love and family in unexpected places, and having faith in the people that touch your world. I think we could all grow from a story like this.

The audiobook is brilliantly cast with two voices that capture the emotions being portrayed.

Thank you NetGalley, W. W. Crown, and author Sarah Ready for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

While interesting, this story did have sections that were slower and potentially unnecessary. There were many times I considered not finishing. The characters were not super likeable or easy to connect with. The narration was alright, but I didn't feel drawn in by the narrator. Overall the book was alright, but not my favourite.

Could have been a short one.
The longer time span made me connect to it more. I didn't see the plot coming. It was emotional, and wholesome. I was overwhelmed.

I got so close to giving up on this book so many times. The prose can be lovely and lyrical, but when it's been going so long and you're less than half way it tends to feel more time-wasting. Some of the major plot points also made me more mad than they should have, and left me thinking "where could they possibly go from here, and how is it going to take so long?". The other issue was that that led me to dislike / hating the male protagonist for most of the back half of the book.

All that said, I'm always a fan of books that switch between perspectives, and while they basically never showed the same event from multiple perspectives, it was otherwise well employed.

Overall, it was a good story, well told, even if it overstayed its welcome at times, with emotional payoff.

wow what an emotional roller coaster of a story this was!

plot line:
A fateful night in Central Park leads Andrea and Jace to one life-changing conclusion-they're meant to be.

Andrea Leighton-Hughes is no stranger to wealth-she's the daughter of one of the richest men in Manhattan and has been used as a chess piece in her family's business empire since she was born.

Jace Morgan is no stranger to hardship-he lost his parents at a young age, and he and his brothers struggle every day to get by. Now they're risking it all in a gamble to hit it big and rise to the top of the music industry.

Andrea defies her family and promises Jace forever.
Jace defies his brothers and promises Andrea always.
But sometimes always doesn't mean forever, and forever doesn't mean always.

After years apart, Jace barges in on Andrea's wedding and says just one word-don't. Now Andrea must decide, does she take Jace's hand and find always and forever, or does she fulfill another promise and marry the one man she always swore she'd never love.

my thoughts:
I absolutely loved this story and it has made it into my favourites for 2023!

This is a heartfelt and emotional book that is split up into three parts to unravel Jace and Andrea’s relationship over the years.

At the beginning , we are introduced to both characters as teenagers who have a undeniable bond for each other but come from different social status - Andi comes from a wealthy family , whilst Jace is the complete opposite.

after not feeling loved by her family , andie decides to leave them behind and goes with Jace on his tour , everything is going well for them until they are engaged - as a lot of misunderstanding and pressure starts building up between them.

As a result , Andie decides to go back to the city and leaves Jace to go on his tour alone.

however , several years later Jace returns to the city in hopes to find Andrea and when he does , he heartbreakingly finds out that she is engaged and the wedding is the next day. This once again puts some space between the pair of them.

Ultimately , jace is not one to back away from Andrea and decides to find her and give their relationship one last go.

I really do think that this book gives “soulmates” a whole new meaning when multiple tropes have been combined with time and fate to create the most heartfelt and emotional story for all readers to enjoy!

I highly recommend this book if you need a new author to read , a good cry or overall just love romance books!

a huge thank you to netgalley for this early released audiobook in return for an honest review.

*Audiobook*

Jace and Andy are two teenagers from completely different worlds. Jace is a musician from the Bronx playing in his family band. He is raised by his brothers because his parents died when he was young. Andy is the daughter of a wealthy businessman who cares more about perception and power than family. Jace and Andy know they are meant for each other, but life continually pushes them apart and brings them back together. This story follows them through adulthood and shows all the ways their lives change but their love remains the same.

The story is told in altering chapters from Andy and Jace’s perspective. There is a female and male narrator, and they both did a nice job, but I didn’t feel like the male narrator’s voice fit Jace’s character at all. That’s just me nitpicking but it bothered me lol.

The book started very slow, but it picks up about a third of the way through. I was rooting for Andy and Jace and found their relationship so wholesome. The continuous conflicts and obstacles they endure got old quickly, though. The book is well written and overall the plot is interesting, but it’s so long and drawn out. It got to a point that I didn’t really care what happened to their relationship because I just wanted the story to be done. Their story is beautiful and the ending is satisfying, but this easily could have been 200 pages shorter. I’d rate this more like 3.5 stars. Thanks to NetGalley, W. W. Crown, and Sarah Ready for this free ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you W. W. Crown, Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), Members' Audiobooks for allowing me to review The Space Between on NetGalley.

Narrators: James Fouhey & Rachel F. Hirsch: Both did a good job bumping the audible experience up a notch. Would be pleased to see Fouhey as narrator again. While a positive experience with Hirsch, I'm pretty sure I won't recognize her voice next time.

Stars: 3.5

Out of my standard wheelhouse, this contemporary romance was okay. With over 500 pages and 13 hours of audio the story, as written, was too long. A wealthy girl (Young Ivanka) falls in love with a poor, parentless boy just aging out of foster care. This is a love at first sight story that spans 30-40 years. My biggest problems were the significant time leaps the author used to move the story along. She used this technique to escape connecting dots.

I did appreciate that the author stayed true to the love story portion. (No spoilers.) I was not unhappy with how I spent my time at the end. Ready did justice to romantics leaving Jace and Andrea exactly where they were meant to be.

The Space Between is a Lifetime movie (and needed that 2 hour edit).

I would recommend this as a travel book. If you lose your place missing a few pages changes nothing.

Wow! What a story! Andrea is a pawn in her rich father's empire. To escape, she people watches in Central Park, where she encounters a busker named Jace whose songs make her heart soar.

They come from completely different worlds, yet there's an immediate soul connection between the two of them that neither can deny. But circumstances (and people) keep conspiring to push them apart.

This story includes many of the elements I enjoy in a sweet romance:
- Love at first sight
- Found family
- Challenges to overcome
- A willingness to fight for what you want

I recently heard that you need the right time, the right place, and the right circumstances for a romance to work out. Miss any of those elements, and it's not going to work.

That's exactly what happened with Andrea and Jace. It took a lot of time and living before they were able to get all three right, but what a story they had to share! One of my favorite books this year.

Thank you to Sarah Ready, W. W. Crown, and NetGalley for an advance review copy. I'm truly grateful!
