I received this book from Swift & Lewis Publishing through netgalley.com. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I started listening to this book and stopped about halfway through because I just had a feeling I needed to listen to the rest with no distraction and no one else around. I'm glad I made this decision because this book made me ugly cry. I swear I had tears running down my face the whole second half of the book. Some in sadness, some in happiness and some in frustration.
This was a beautifully written book that shows the ugliness of life even when you have money. It shows dreams can come true when you work for them, and true love never dies. There were so many feels in this book its breathtaking. This is not your typical romance, it's hard, and it's cruel and it's making decisions that may hurt others but they are the right thing to do. It's also beautiful, and heart pounding and breathtaking in its joy. Run don't walk to the store for this one. It's not to be missed.
I initially had a hard time getting into the story. Andrea was annoying and unrealistic, while Jace was just too idealistic and immature. However, as the story went on, I became a little more invested in the stories. The twists and turns were unexpected and the emotional bumps provided a nice release. I even teared up a few points.
Watching Andrea's and Jace's love grow from that teenaged abandon everything for love to a mature and carefully considered love was relatable. And, oh my word, the lives that were lived in between...
The narration of the audiobook was, initially, a little off putting. Especially at the beginning of the book when the narrators were reading the teenaged characters. Once they settled into adulthood, it was a little less distracting.
Overall, the story started off a little slow, but once it advanced, I really enjoyed it.
I wasn’t sure how much I was going to like this book at the start, but I’m glad that I started enjoying it more towards the middle. Originally I found Andy, the FMC, so strange! She was giving off big “fatal attraction” vibes and I wasn’t sure why Jace wasn’t running for the hills.
Both of the characters stories were so sad and traumatic and all I wanted was for them to have a nice, happy life together and that didn’t happen at all haha. We skip through so many years of them seeming to just pass each other by and there were a few moments that had me tearing up on my commute to work.
In the end I enjoyed it but the start and the side characters had me giving it a medium three stars.
Thanks to #NetGallery and the publisher #WWCrown. I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

★★ 4.5 stars! ★★
This star-crossed lovers romance had me on a roller-coaster of emotions. I wasn't expecting to get so caught up in this story, but it was hard to put down once I started listening. This is my fourth read by Sarah Ready, and I'm not sure why I am still surprised by the depth, character development, and heartbreak she easily conveys in her stories. The audiobook is excellent, with the narrators perfectly performing the characters and their emotions.
An emotional and heart-warming story about never giving up on love!
If you're a fan of second-chance romance or Colleen Hoover, this is a must-read!
Also, a huge shout out to Tina! Thank you for bringing this novel to my attention! You're right, it was an amazing read!
***Thank you to NetGalley, Sarah Ready, and W.W. Crown for graciously sending me the audiobook to review. As always, all thoughts are my own.***
After seeing positive reviews for this book and author on NetGalley, as well as that The Space Between was an instant download, I downloaded the audiobook. This definitely was not my cup of tea, but it is a sweet romance. I found the characters, especially Andrea (Andy) not realistic or believable. I did enjoy the NCY setting.
Thank you NetGalley for an advance audiobook copy for my honest review.
4.5 *
This one is emotional and amazing on Audio! This is my first novel by this author but not my last. Boy can she write!
Andrea comes from the Upper West Side in Manhattan from a very rich family. Jace is a struggling musician from the Bronx. They fall in love and yes rather quickly. Yup it sounds cliché but there is SO much more to the story!
This is Andrea and Jace's story from beginning to end and all about "the space between." It's filled with love, heartache, and lies.
I was fully immersed in this story from start to finish. I love when a story throws me for a loop!
I'd like to kindly thank NetGalley and W.W. Crown for granting me access to this Advanced Listeners Copy.
Andy/Andrea and Jace are from very different worlds. She's rich and lives in the shadow of her father's name and reputation, while Jace barely remembers his parents and he and his brothers struggle to get by. When fate brings them together one afternoon in Central Park, little does either of them realise how important they'll become in each others lives or how fraught their journey will be.
A great coming of age and love will conquer all story, the characters of Andy and Jace are written so you can't help but fall in love with them, their stories and their relationship. As the course of true love often doesn't run smoothly, Sarah has beautifully written some characters you'll love to hate - I found myself getting very annoyed at some of them while listening to this book! She also allows them a chance to redeem themselves, however, so be prepared to forgive and forget.
Proving that things aren't always as they seem and that love can spring up when least expected, this is a modern take on the Cinderella story with moments of intrigue, sadness and lots and lots of joy!
This book had a lot of potential. The overall story is so good. A story of true love even with gaps in their love story.
Unfortunately, the excessive use of descriptive words made this audiobook difficult to listen to and I would often fast forward through portions. The author continued to describe people’s appearances and location appearances over and over. It was not needed and seemed like the author was trying to make her book longer.
I think this would be better read in book format as it would make it easier to skim the descriptive parts.
It really is a shame because I would give the overall story a 4.5 stars but getting through the writing narrative a 2 star. The audiobook narrators were great!
A love story that lasts a lifetime. The opening scene jumps you into an already torn love story and keeps you on the edge. Then brings you back to where it all started. The story keeps you engaged sharing the different perspectives of Andy and Jace while jumping through different times in their lives. I listened to this one and some of the beginning scenes and chapters were difficult to stay hooked because of how much detail was included but by half way through you are hooked to the story and want to know what happens.
THE SPACE BETWEEN review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
🌸After a five-star reading slump in the first five months of the year, I’ve had some knockouts this summer! I went into this book with no expectations, but blew me away! As a sad romance girlie, I looooooved this one.
🌸Here’s a summary of the plot:👇
Andrea is from a wealthy NYC family, who had a chance encounter with Jace in Central Park. Jace is from a rough part of town and is an aspiring musician. They quickly fall in love and are so sure they’ve found “the one.” But life has other plans, and despite their best efforts Andrea and Jace are torn apart by circumstances. Years later, they meet again. But the time apart has shaped them into drastically different people. Can they overcome the distance that’s grown between them? Or is life determined to keep them apart?
🌸I love a good second chance romance and this was no exception! Also this one was way sadder than I expected it to be! The ending omg 😭 if you’re wanting an emo, second chance romance read I cannot recommend this enough. Hands down going to be one of my favorite reads this year. 🫶
I honestly didn’t have super high hopes going into this book but it blew my expectations out of the water. I was rooting for all of the characters the whole time. Solid 4.5 ⭐️
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
I got the opportunity to read this book through NetGalley— and is my honest review of the book. first of all I am not usually one for romances but I am always looking for new authors in this genre— this book was well written and I did plough through the audiobook in 1.5 days . The author made me intrigued enough to want to know what was going to happen to the characters and I did become invested in Andrea as a character. I had a hard time buying into the first half of the story as it seemed a bit cliche and the characters who were supposed to be 17 were talking and acting more like 22-25 year olds — I had to think of them as older in order for the first half of the book to work for me. In the second half of the book is when I got most invested in the love and friendship and the development of Andrea — I loved that part of the book and found it more believable and the characters suited their roles , language and behavior better.
Overall this was a 4/5 book for me and I would gladly try other books by this author . On a final note - the audiobook readers were quite good and kept me wanting more with their ability to bring the characters to life — :)
This book sucked me in and had me weeping. I really enjoyed the reading experience, the audiobook was well read and the characters were fully developed.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this audiobook in exchange for a review.
The Space Between" by Sarah Ready is a poignant tale that tugs at your heartstrings. Andrea Leighton-Hughes, a woman entrenched in the complexities of wealth and family dynamics, finds solace and truth in Jace Morgan, a musician from a different world altogether. Their connection transcends the barriers of their lives, revealing their genuine selves to each other. Andrea and Jace's love story is a testament to the power of love amidst life's uncertainties.
Set against a backdrop of lies, manipulation, and the pursuit of dreams, the novel beautifully explores the space between their moments together. As they navigate obstacles and fight to be together, the story captures the essence of their enduring bond. Ready weaves a narrative that resonates, showcasing the strength of love against adversity.
"The Space Between" is a captivating read that touches the heart, making readers reflect on the complexities of relationships and the determination to hold onto promises of forever. With heartfelt emotions and relatable characters, this book is a touching reminder that true love can overcome even the most challenging circumstances.
I received an Audiobook ARC copy from W. W. Crown in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.
Nothing is guaranteed in life, this includes love. Nobody knows this better than Andrea and Jace. There forever hangs in the balance of many years and misunderstandings. Andrea Leighton-Hughes is a chess piece in her family's game for power and money. Her world is full of lies, manipulation and power struggles. Jace is the first person who she feels she can trust with who she truly is. Jace Morgan is from the other side of life. He has seen and experienced life very differently than Andrea. Yet their connection is undeniable. No one understands how these humans so different work so well together. After many people try to keep them apart, will they find their way back to each other?
I really enjoyed this one. It kept my attention until the very end. I thought the narrations were well done. I found the narrators did a great job portraying the emotion behind the words. This is an extremely emotional book and I felt the emotions deeply as I listened. This was my first by this author and it will not be my last.
Content: Two open door scenes (easy to skip with audio book), manipulation from parents and family, lying, "cheating"

This novel chronicles the lives and romance of Andrea (aka “Andi”) and Jace, with them being apart for most of the story – hence, much of the novel portrays “the space between” them.
I get that this is a romance novel (and admittedly my issue may be with the genre more so than this particular story), but the two main characters have what appears to be a very unhealthy obsession with each other, rather than the “love” that they believe they have. I also generally dislike the “poor little rich girl” trope, and although the rich girl in this novel does have a positive character evolution, it is hard to sympathize with someone so obscenely wealthy whose “problems” in life were, quite frankly, not that bad.
The author is an excellent writer and the story flows nicely. The redemption arc of a secondary character was very well done. The narrators of the audiobook did a great job capturing the essence of the two main characters. And although I generally liked the ending, I could have done without the epilogue.
Overall, a quite decent read (or listen), and if you’re a fan of the romance genre, you’ll probably enjoy this book.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a review copy of this audiobook! All opinions are my own.
This book is written so beautifully. It’s so perfect! I absolutely loved the storyline and the characters. The characters were developed really well. The audiobook has two different narrators telling Andy and Jace's perspective. It was done really well and both narrators had the perfect voices for the characters.
“What’s your lyric?” ❤️🔥🎸
I was not prepared for what this book did to me. I loved French Holiday by Sarah Ready. This was not the same type of book. At all. This one broke my heart into a million pieces and carefully put me back together. Talk about a beautiful and emotional story. Be prepared with tissues.
The narration for this book was fantastic. I was able to get completely lost in the story and felt their emotions throughout the story. I would not hesitate to listen to audiobooks featuring either of the narrators in the future.
I've quickly become a fan of this author and look forward to reading what she writes next.
What’s your lyric? 💖❤️🔥
Thank you to Sarah Ready for reminding me I have feelings and that I too yearn for love. The Space Between may seem like a regular love story while you initially begin to read but it has layers. Layers of love, loss, betrayal, forgiveness and the importance of family. Most importantly, Andy’s journey to love herself, those around her, to live a life filled with experiences she wants. It is a reminder that love can be felt and experienced in many different ways, and that one form or love does not negate another. This book reminded me that I too am grateful for love gained and loss, for the ability to share a loving space with family and friends while others cannot, and that despite how time may go on, we can still hold on to those we love.
The narrators, James Fouhey & Rachel F. Hirsch, did an amazing job with this audiobook. I could feel the warmth, sadness, yearning and emotional state of Jace, Andy and Reed.
I give this one a 4.5/5 stars, as I would have loved more insight on Jace’s time alone and how he dealt with certain experiences. I loved the character development for Reed, from his teenage years to adulthood. The way Sarah makes you root for all three in the book, despite their ever-changing emotions and circumstances was a masterpiece.
A big thank you to the author, Sarah Ready for allowing me to come along this journey with her, to NetGalley and W. W. Crown, Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), Members' Audiobooks for this Advanced Reader Copy (ARC).
