I really loved the watercolor illustrations and how dynamic the movement and actions were in them. The color palette was lovely, though I wonder if maybe it’s a bit on the bland side for children. I enjoyed the little bits of magic that were included throughout the setting, and thought it added much to the book.

The font and text made me suspect that this book is meant more for adults to read to children (they’re quite small). As this was the case, I wanted more from the text. The journey to the grandparents’ house was very brief with no real descriptions of anything, no exciting or engaging moments. Things just happened. I know there are pictures, but still, a little description or interest added to the text can go a long way when being read to. I did like the way that Davy recalled his grandpa’s stories and used his advice to keep him and his sister safe.

Overall, this is a cute children’s book with a good message, but I felt that it could use a little more to make it really compelling. My thanks to NetGalley and NorthSouth Books for allowing me to read this work. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

As a mom, I always enjoy sharing cozy winter stories with my child, and Davy in the Snow by Brigitte Weninger is a delightful choice. This charming book follows Davy, a young rabbit, as he ventures into the snowy woods with his siblings, learning about teamwork, bravery, and the magic of the winter season.

The sweet illustrations and gentle storyline make it a comforting read for little ones, while the themes of family and adventure add a heartwarming touch to the experience.

Final Thoughts: Davy in the Snow is a lovely winter tale perfect for moms looking to share a story of togetherness and adventure with their kids. It’s a cozy read that embraces the spirit of the season!

Davy in the Snow is a lovely story about siblings getting lost in the snow and the older brother, Davy taking care of his little sister. It's a beautiful snowy day and Davy and his little sister, Mia take their sled and head off to visit their grandparents. While they are there, grandpa rabbit tells Davy the story of the time he and his brother got lost in the snow and what they did. Lucky for Davy and Mia because on the way home they fall out of their sled and become confused. Davy remembers what his grandpa told him and keeps himself and Mia warm and dry until their parents find them. Davy is a hero.

I really loved this story about sibling love, responsibility, keeping calm and using your wits to help one another. This book is geared to younger children, so although all three of them listened, the oldest wasn't really interested, but did participate in our discussion about what they would do it something like that happened to them. The illustrations were sweet and added to the story. I really liked the lessons in this one.

When Bunny brother and sister Davie and Emma go to visit their Bunny grandparents. Davey is especially enjoying the stories grandpa is telling him but one makes for a great last story and lesson. Its about grandpa and his brother getting lost in the Woods. So when later that day Davey and Emma set out and they go a little too fast which causes their sled to turn over. Davey knows just what to do he is a good listener and because of that it helps him to be a good big brother and him and Emma do their best to entertain each other and stay safe while waiting for help. This was such a cute book and I thought making it about bunnies still made it in Porten while also making it so delightful and adorable. I really enjoyed this book and think this is great for kindergarten age children everything about it is so delightful because I’ll go there in danger they’re sweet to each other which makes the story sweet. This is a book I highly recommend if you like reading stories to your child that also teaches them lessons in an Entertaining Way, Davie in the snow is great for that. Not only does it teach them to listen but to be kind and look out for each other and also to love your grandparents and parents. I want to thank the publisher and NetGalley for my free arc copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

4 stars out of 5!

Davy in the snow is a cute little picture book about Davy and Mia who gets lost in a snowstorm and have to find their way out! Thankfully, it is mostly about taking care of your siblings and not about dangers of hypothermia.

This is such a wholesome story with beautiful muted illustrations. I love Davy's winter hat shaped like his ears.

Truly a heartwarming story about siblings, and the importance of listening carefully to your elders. Something people nowadays tend to ignore. With beautiful illustrations to accompany your journey with the book, this is a treasure to have and to read altogether.

The winter is coming, and my daughter cannot resist a good story with bunnies, lots of snow and adventures in the forest. And even I've learnt something: never heard of foxfire before!

Thanks NetGalley and NorthSouth Books for this Advance Review Copy.

This is the story of a rabbit Davy and his family, specially his sister Mia. Both Mia and Davy went on the adventurous tour to their grandparents' house to give them cake made by their mother. They both played games with their grand-parents and enjoyed meanwhile their grand-maa packed raspberry juice which later spalshed all over them and on snow when they fell down on their way back home.
Their family was concerned and came to look for them when they didn't get back home timely. Mia was Davy's prime responsibility he took care of her until their parents found them. Davy feared for he was screamed on but his father account him responsible and appreciate for his decision to stay calm and safe and keep her sister too.

Such all animal fables were inspired from 'Panchtantra' (Sanskrit) which were the foremost and earliest form of documented moral stories, dated back to about 200 BC, but the fables are likely to be much more ancient than that in culture and verbal form. These stories are the best way to tell children for what to do in given situations and let them learn during their upbringing part.

Debbie and his sister head to their grandparents’ house. While there they hear the story of their grandparents getting lost in the snow, and how they stayed where they were and made themselves safe and waited for someone to find them. Turns out that happens to Davey on their way home. After they slide down the big hill, they can no longer find the path home because of the snow. Davey makes sure that he and his sister are safe and wait for mom and dad to appear. This book is basically a lesson in survival on a cold day. It does work, but it is very long winded. The best thing about this book is the illustrations. The story could’ve been cut in half and still have been successful.

When Davy and his little sister Mia get lost on their way home from visiting their grandparents, quick-thinking Davy remembers the story his grandpa told him about surviving in the wilderness.
This is a very sweet story, with gorgeous illustrations by Eve Tharlet.

A heartfelt story of survival bundled with a helpful, compassionate sibling relationship. The lesson learned while Davy and Mia visit grandparents is relatable for all ages. The story is full of encouraging words from Davy and the helpful lesson learned in the great-snow adventure from Grandpa is key for survival in the winter storm. Author Brigitte Weninger keeps young listeners intrigued as the siblings discover foxfire in the woods and Davy tells the longest enchanted-forest story to entertain his little sister. Eve Tharlet’s enchanting illustrations are the “icing on the cake” for this comforting addition in the endearing Davy series.

Thank you to the author, NorthSouth Books and NetGalley, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This children's book is wonderful to read aloud - and to use to talk about caring for others, trusting and family support. The illustrations are beautiful and help to defuse the scariness of the situation, and turn it to the positive. That scariness factor is the only thing I would take issue with, as kids reading this on their own might need follow-up to help "digest" the story.

Mother rabbit has baked a delicious carrot cake. She comments that it is too bad Grandma isn’t here to have a piece of it. Davy the oldest of his siblings tell her that he and Mia can do it. After a nice visit at their grandparents home, they are tidy by grandpa that they need to head home before it gets dark. He then looks at the sky seeing the clouds heavy with a potential snow storm. As Davy and Mia leave on the sled, snow starts to fall. Sliding down the mountain, the sled hits a large bump. Davy and Mia fall off the sled as well as Grandma’s cookies and raspberry juice. Davy starts to panic as he can’t see the path home. Remembering grandpa’s story about his adventure in the snow, Davy knows what to do. Will Davy be able to do what his grandpa did? Later that night, Davy hears voices calling their names. He realizes that they are his parents. Davy and Mia are fine. His father is proud of Davy and tells him.

The author has written a sweet story about independence and family support. It has wonderful colored illustrations throughout the story. I loved how the parents supported the two lost rabbits instead of being critical.

The book is actually for kids but I know that adults also would not be able to resist it. The storyline is also very interesting. Lovely characters are going to entertain you. For a moment in the story I was worried about cute Davy. The story teaches you how to tackle in difficult situations. Motivational for kids. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with an opportunity to read and review the book.

Make cute book for a child and tell children everything's gonna be o k. Like how the pictures and How the grandmother told a story to the children when they arrived. Now they survived outside when they were Little As they were making their way home, the same thing happened and how show how brave they were to stay. The parents were came out eventually to find them, but they said. Well, you did a really good job. To survive. I think this teacher's children to be okay to have adventures and you can always have fun. In appearance, we're very positive about the whole situation. Which makes a child f More comfortable and confident in life..

Well, that was an unexpected bundle of wholesomeness.

I know, I know, don't judge a book by its cover, but I did. I was prepared for something very retro and boring, some lesson about a skinned knee. Instead, I got a story of empowerment and love and trust and OH MY.

Please read this with your child, and enjoy all the feel good vibes it offers.
