Absolutely adore these illustrations. The artist is phenomenal. My girls really loved this story - very calm and loving.
"Davy in the Snow" is a wholesome story with cute rabbit characters.
Davy and one of his little sisters, Mia, go to deliver a piece of carrot cake that their mom made to their grandparent’s house, but on their way home they get lost because of heavy snowfall. Luckily, Davy remembers his grandpa’s advice about what to do in such a scary situation to keep him and Mia safe for the time being. Eventually, their family comes to their rescue, praising Davy for his decisive action.
Getting lost is terrifying as a kid and sometimes you don’t know what to do because you’re so scared. I love that Davy and Mia were able to stay calm and make a shelter for themselves as their grandpa did during his big adventure. This story is a great example of the use of critical thinking skills to resolve a problem and why it’s important to learn what to do in an emergency; in this case, the dangers of cold weather. Davy is a great big brother and really stepped up to ensure he and his sister stayed safe.
"Davy in the Snow" is a cozy and enjoyable winter adventure as well as a good conversation about safety and emergency planning between parents and kids.
Thanks again NorthSouth Books and NetGalley for the eARC to read in exchange for an honest review!
A lovely and beautifully illustrated tale. Davy listened to his grandfather’s tale and also learned what to do if you get lost. When he a Mia got lost, Davy remembered what to do. A nice story to help teach children this same lesson in a cute way.
I really fell in love with “Davy in the Snow” because it’s a story that teaches children the importance of listening, following directions, being responsible, and staying composed even when things become confusing or troublesome. Davy and his younger sister Mia are very relatable for children who are eager to show their parents that they’re old enough to be more independent.
The illustrations are displayed in warm, calm hues so it’s perfect for quiet time or bedtime. Also, the story ends happily and may even provoke some great questions from children about how they can be more like Davy.
Overall, this is a delightful book that teaches children to follow good advice and stick together when unexpected things happen. I highly recommend it!

Davy in the Snow is a delightful children's book with the cutest illustrations.
The book is about two little rabbits who got lost in the snow on their way home from visiting their grandparents. After listening to their grandpa's story about his adventure of being lost, they knew exactly how to stay safe until they were found.
My 3 year old loved the story and the beautiful pictures. She enjoyed looking at the bunnies and the snow and was thoroughly engaged throughout the whole story. We talked about how Davy and his sister stayed in one place when they were lost and didn't panic.
This book is perfect for 3-5 year olds. The art work captures their imagination and the moral of the story is well portrayed, followed up with a happy ending!
Davy in the Snow is a cute story with an important message. It teaches kids about what to do if they get lost and the importance of not panicking even if they’re scared. The. Illustrations are also good. I would definitely recommend this book and rate it 5 out of 5 stars.
Children’s fairy tales often include a challenge that must be overcome before the happy ending comes. That is the case in this story about Davy and Mia.
These two young rabbits feel ready for independence so they volunteer to bring carrot cake to their grandparents. They have a nice visit and, fortuitously, hear a story about what their grandparents did in a big snowstorm.
Of course, this is the obstacle that Davy and Mia then face. They know what to do, Davy is an excellent big brother and all ends well.
The illustrations in this story are very appealing. Both children and adults will enjoy them. The message of the story is not to panic, to trust oneself and be hopeful is a good one.
Many thanks to NorthSouth Books and NetGalley for this title. All opinions are my own.
This book shares an important lesson with children about staying calm when things go wrong. Many kids will be able to relate to the guilt and remorse that Davy feels when things go wrong, even though they were out of his control. Because Davy made good decisions for himself and his sister, they remained safe until their parents found them. The illustrations in the book are well done. This is the first book that I have ready in the Davy series, but I will be sure to read more after enjoying this story with my three-year-old.

A short and cute read of Davy and his sister visiting their grandparents to give them food. As bunny rabbits, Davy and his family live in the wilderness. With snow coming down, it's up to Davy to keep his sister warm under a tree until their family tries to rescue them. It's adorable and with fun moments (like when they fell in the snow), "Davy in the Snow" is lighthearted and sweet.
This was an absolutely delightful picture book! Filled with gorgeous illustrations [I have not seen such illustrations in quite awhile] and a really great story that includes why it is important to pay attention to the stories of those who are older than you [because one day they may not be there to tell you stories anymore] as it can help you more than you might realize [as Davy and his sister find out]. A great little book that littles will want to read over and over again. Very well done.
I was asked to read/review this book and along with Brigitte Weninger, Eve Tharlet- Illustrator, David Henry Wilson -Translator, I want to thank both NetGalley and the publisher NorthSouth Books for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Two little bunnies lose their way coming home from the grandparents but work together to have a good time and stay safe until found by the rest of their family. It's a cheery story and is perfect for rereading many times.
Thanks to David Henry Wilson for translation from the German.
The illustrations by Eve Tharlet are thoughtful, delightful, imaginative, and colorful.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school or public library!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from NorthSouth Books via NetGalley. Thank you!
Davy in the Snow was really cute. My 1:5 year old is absolutely obsessed with bunnies right now so the timing was pretty perfect! I think the book is targeted to kids slightly older than my munchkin, but we still really enjoyed the adventure of Davy and his sister traveling to their grandparents to bring them cake. The illustrations looks real and were well done.
Thanks NetGalley, Brigitte Weninger and NorthSouth books for the arc to read and review- all thoughts and opinions are mine!
This is an enjoyable way to help teach children about what to do in unexpected situations. My four year old loved the bunnies. The illustrations are beautiful. My only complaint is that I think it would better to have less text on each page and more illustrations.
This book has charming illustrations and a sweet, simple story. The animal characters are cute, and the book has a teaching message about how two siblings handle getting lost in the snow. There's also a nice emphasis on family togetherness.
A gentle wintertime story that includes an important lesson for kids who might wander off on their own in the wilderness (something that can and does happen). Stay calm, stay in place, stay warm. While the situation is dangerous, the story isn't too scary for 3-5 year olds. All ends well, of course, in this comforting book. It will provide a great opportunity for adults to talk about what to do if their children get lost. I loved the rabbit siblings, and the illustrations are absolutely delightful. My favorite: the two young rabbits struggling to get the sled up the steep hill on the way to their grandparents.
Review based on an eARC received through NetGalley.
When Davy and Mia get lost in a snow storm they use the story they were told by their grandparents to stay safe until help arrives.
A beautiful children's story with absolutely stunning artwork. A great way to covertly teach your kids that's it's safest to stay in one place if they get lost!
Thank you to NetGalley and NorthSouth Books for allowing me an ARC of this book.
Davy in the Snow is a sweet little story about Davy and his little sister’s (mis)adventures in the snow. Their adventures are family oriented and wholesome. And their misadventures are age-apropiately dramatic.
Which, I must admit, makes me quite happy: drama with a sense of danger is something, I feel is missing from most current childrens books.
The story is educational and gives parents plenty of openings to talk with their children about topics ranging from foreshadowing to fire safety.
And the illustrations are delightfully charming.

Perfect for little ones with extremely adorable illustrations and full of educative bits. My 4 year old loved the story and the characters. He already wants me to read it to him again.
My 4 year old and I absolutely loved this cute story about Davey and his little sister Mia. It provided not only a story about family and the importance of story telling but also some valuable safety tips for keeping safe and warm in the snow should you ever be stuck for a long time. The only thing that I’d recommend changing for this book is the black font with the background, it could be kind of difficult to read on some pages, though this could also be related to reading on a mobile device rather than an actual book I suppose but definitely something to consider prior to publication.
Overall we loved this story and it will likely be one we will add to our family library at home!
