This was such a cute book! So Davy and Mia are so excited for their moms cake they just have to share it with their grandma. On their way home from their grandparents, they get lost. But they remember the lesson their grandfather taught them, if you get lost don't panic and find a place to safely wait for rescue.
This teaches a really important lesson about safety and family
Definitely will recommend this book!

This is a great children's book! I loved the message of staying calm when lost or in a small crisis. It was important for my daughter to hear this message and we talked about what to do if she became lost. I loved how Davy remained calm and took care of his little sister too. A sweet story!

Davy in the Snow is yet another wonderful book in the Davy series. The illustrations are warm and inviting, drawing the reader into each page. The plot is filled with the determination of Davy and his sister as they fight through the cold, hunger and homesickness to get out of the woods and find their way home. Davy is humbled when he believes he will be in trouble, but is instead praised for making smart choices and taking care of his sister. Once home, they are surrounded by a house full of love. Another outstanding Davy adventure!

This book is a good one to teach/show kids how to stay safe/brave when lost. Using rabbit siblings to show how it’s easy to follow along. A cute story. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC to review.

Two young rabbits with parental permission head to their grandparents home and visit.

On their way home, there is an accident that causes them to lose their direction.

The story is sweetly told, with the boy rabbit reminding himself of things to do in an emergency.

Thanks to the story his grandpa had told him previous to them leaving, Davy knew just what to do.

I also loved that he stayed calm and reminded his sister everything was going to be alright.

Oh my goodness gracious this is an adorable book. Just sit down and open it and you're transformed into the magic of Eve Tharlet's art and the warm stories of Brigitte Weninger.

Another beautiful Davy story in this delightful series and this one is about Davy and Mia. Davy and Mia set out in the snow to go visit their grandparents. The page where Eve Tharlet's art depicting them going up the hill with the sled on the second page had me grabbing my heart. Just so cute. On the trek over Davy and Mia they lose their way after the snow falls so much they can't find the path. They use some survival skills but thankfully their parents come looking for them and then a grand reunion.

It's a lovely, warm story set in a winter setting but you feel such warmth from the love amongst them that your heart will just melt with family togetherness.

I would like to thank NetGalley, and the publisher NorthSouth Books for the opportunity to read and review Davy in the Snow by Brigitte Weninger.

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful.

Davy and his little sister go visit their grandparents in the woods. It is a snowy day and they have fun and are excited to see their grandparents. Once there, his grandfather tells him an important story that saved him and sister on their way home.

One of those books with the narration and illustrations that can easily become a classic. Very appealing! Makes a great gift.

This is an adorable children’s book about family and responsibility that children will relate to. I love that 3 generations are represented in this story. I had never seen the Davy series before, but now I will look for more of them. This book would make a wonderful gift.

Two little rabbits Davy and Mia venture off to visit their grandparents in the snow, on the way back they get lost but Davy uses his brain to keep them both safe.

Awww this was so cute, what a sweet adventure story, it was a really heartwarming story and the characters were really precious. The illustrations throughout were really pretty and I loved looking at them, the bunnies were super cute.

Davy and Mia have such a fun time together, even though they struggled and get lost Davy remembers everything from his grandpas story and it helps keep them really safe and warm. I really loved how sweet he was and how smart he was to make sure that until he could find his way back that they stayed safe.

It’s a really beautiful story, the characters are great, the illustrations are really pretty. I do recommend it, it’s a really sweet story to read with your children and they’ll love the adventure and the kindness of older brother and younger sister.

Davy in the Snow

Davy, a bright young rabbit, gets trapped in the snow with his sister Mia on the way home from his grandparents’ house. He remembers what his grandfather told him to do in that situation: make a shelter, stay in one place, and above all do not panic. He does all this and it works well.

This is a great story to help teach self-reliance, it is interesting and nicely illustrated. The characters are cute and captivating. I highly recommend this book.

An easy read – and what's more, easy to see how wonderful the visuals are – but one missing a little something. Two young rabbits decide to take some yummy carrot cake to their gran, but get lost in the middle of the snowy forest on the way home. This might reassure about being in the outside world, or give some initial pointers to not panicking when lost, but dramatically it's cute, cute, mild peril, decent attempt to overcome peril, rescue, cute end. Only if you read the blurb from the publishers do you see word of it being about sibling companionship – well, that's debatably not strong enough. Still, as a brief slice of drama with very appealing design, this will still hold some attention for a spell – indoors or outside.

A beautifully illustrated picture-book with a sweet and heartwarming story which is sure to delight the four to eight year old audience it serves.

One of a popular series featuring Davy the rabbit, this edition has Davy, growing up fast and eager to prove himself to his parents, offering to take his sister on his sled, along with a special baked treat from his mum, to his nearby grandparents house for a visit.

The visit is a joy, right up until Davy loses his way on the path through the forest leading to home. Keeping himself and his sister safe until help arrives, Davy remembers the advice he had been given and teaches us all a lesson about responsibility, as he cares tenderly for his younger sibling. Finding them a safe haven in a log, Davy stays in one place waiting for help to arrive, and tells soothing stories guaranteed to please his little sister.

Highly recommended, this book is absolutely charming, topped off with some of the cuddliest bunny, forest, and softly-blanketing snow images you are likely to find in children’s fiction anywhere.

A great big thank you to #Netgalley, the author and the publisher for an ARC of the book. All thoughts presented are my own.

Davy in the Snow is a delightful story centered around a family of rabbits. Davy's mom has baked a delicious carrot cake and she really wants Grandmother to have a slice but it is cold and snowy outside. When Davey volunteers he and his little sister Mia could take the slice to Grandmother, mom reluctantly agrees. Davey and Mia reach Grandmother's house where they snuggle in for some tea and cake. As the weather grows darker and colder Grandmother sends them home. Along the way they decide to go sledding. What a fabulous time they are having until Davey realizes they have strayed from the path that will lead them home. Davey remembered a game their Grandfather shared with them and taught Mia how to play so she wouldn't be frightened.
Will Davey and Mia make it home before dark?

Young readers in your home or classroom would love this sweet story.

Thank you NetGalley and North South Books Inc. for the chance to read "Davy in the Snow" in exchange for my honest opinion.

This story is very engaging, the illustrations are eye-catching and colourful, the characters are cute and will appeal to young children.

Davy and his little sister set out to deliver some carrot cake to their grandparents. Grandpa tells Davy stories about when he was a little boy like Davy. A lesson that Davy takes away from this is that "if you lose the way, you mustn't rush around in a panic." This serves him well when on their way home they lose their way and have to shelter in a tree. Davy remembers to "look for a safe place and help will come". He is a wonderful big brother, he keeps his sister calm, warm and remembers to stay awake. Their family comes looking for them and find them safe because he followed the lessons that he has learned from his grandpa.

This story has family at the heart of it and the most important thing is that Davy is loved by his entire family.

This is a cute little bunny story. Davy is the bunny with survival skills he uses in the snow. Great pictures illustrate the narrative. This will be of interest to young readers, I believe. I think it would make a great gift for any child especially during winter days of snow.

Since the first “Davy” picture book came on the scene in 1996, Davy has celebrated holidays, gotten in trouble with his parents and siblings, and shared his fears. In DAVY IN THE SNOW Davy conscientiously listens to Grandfather's story about staying in one place if lost in the woods and when he and his little sister get lost in a snowstorm, Davy knows just what to do to survive. Davy, a favorite storybook bunny, demonstrates maturity and responsibility as he protects his little sister, and provides the perfect survival story for the younger set. I hope author Brigette Weninger and illustrator Eva Tharlet never let Davy grow up.

After a warm visit with their grandparents, Davy and his little sister Mia set a path for home. Eager to brave the elements and return before dark, their spirits are high on adventure. However, when the storm tears them from their sled and they’re left to wander through the snow-laden earth, the duo finds themselves lost. It’s then Davy recalls the story his grandfather shared of a time when both he and his brother were in the same predicament. Taking the story’s mantra to heart, Davy strives to stay in one place, keep warm, and trusts, “Help will come soon.”

Davy in the Snow is Brigitte Weninger’s latest installment in her charming collection of Davy-centric tales. Paired with Eve Tharlet’s cozy illustrations, the story read like a child’s favorite, worn blanket — familiar and soft enough to fall into again and again. While the adorable rabbit has been on the page for over twenty-five years, this was both mine and my children’s introduction to the character. We adored the gentleness and care found on each page, and admired the story’s communication of compassion and love. Now on our way to read the others in the series, it’s reasonable to say Davy is no less endearing than the day he debuted.
