“Her Secret Hope” is book number three in this series by Shelley Shepard Gray. This book centers around Lilly and Eddie. Lilly has dreamed of moving to Pinecraft, Florida for 2 years where her friends have relocated. Lilly gets a job as a maid at the Marigold Inn. Things don’t go as well as she hoped. Lilly meets Eddie and his grandmother November who are on vacation and stay at the Inn. They strike up a friendship. Lilly decides to quit her job and move back to Middlefield where she is from and her family lives and take on a caregiver role for November. What does the future hold for Lilly and Eddie? Read this book to find out how their story unfolds. I received a complimentary copy of this book but wasn’t required to leave a review.
I don't know how it's possible that I missed the first two books of this series but I'm SO glad to have read this one! There is enough of the connective material within this story to get a hint of the background in the first two books. It's a clean, feel-good story about a young woman finding out that sometimes life doesn't go as we plan, and lots of twists and turns to prove that to be so. I didn't just read this book, I devoured it!! I loved all of the characters at Marigold Inn.
I was blessed with an ebook from the publisher as part of the street team. There were no promises of good reviews.
... change is the only constant."
Lilly Kurtz returns to Pinecraft, Florida from Ohio and is reunited with her friends. This is a place where she feels she can belong, accepted for who she is. A job at the bed and breakfast she had previously stayed in seems ideal. Life is going to be different, better.
Eddie Byler is traveling with his grandmother, and they are going to finish the trip by enjoying a nice stop in Pinecraft. He intends to keep her entertained before they return to the family farm in Ohio. She has her own ideas about the vacation.
I received an advanced reader's copy of the book from Revell through NetGalley. This is my own unsolicited opinion of the third and final book in the series. I have had the privilege to read this entire series and I really enjoyed it. Three Amish women meet while on a bus trip to Florida. They consider themselves "wallflowers" and find big changes for themselves while on that original journey.
Lilly harbors a secret that she keeps from Eddie as they get to know one another at the bed and breakfast where she has recently begun her new job. I liked the characters in this book, especially Eddie's grandmother and the caring male chef. Some interesting things take place which lead to a good lesson in faith and forgiveness without any preachy feelings overpowering the flow of the story.
In all honesty, this wasn't my favorite book of the three, but it is a good story. It can work as a stand-alone, but I recommend reading the other two books also. A secondary romance is a magnetic addition to this story. A strong message about adoption comes forward and I really like how that part of the story is wonderfully handled and resolved. I give the book a solid 4.5 rating.
Her Secret Hope is a well written Amish romance. Good plot and character dynamics and a beautiful setting. I recommend this book. My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my book. This is my unbiased review.
Loved reading this novel, I would definitely recommend it, great writing style. Her books never disappoint!
I'm not sure why but I didn't connect with this story. I wasn't invested in the characters and the story seemed to move slow for me. I usually really enjoy this author but for some reason this one wasn't for me.
Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.
This is the third book in the series of Seasons in Pinecraft. This story is about Lilly Kurtz. She returns to Pinecraft where her friends now live. She gets a job at the Bed and Breakfast where they stayed 2 years ago as young Amish women. She meets a Amish man Eddie Byler who she starts to have feelings for. She is afraid to tell Eddie her secret. Will they fall in love and will Eddie find her secret out? This was such a cute book and got to see the story of the three Amish girls lifes in full circle.
We venture back to Pinecraft FL in Ms. Gray’s latest novel. Such a well written book with a sweet storyline. You can probably read this as a stand alone book, but I recommend reading the other two books so you are familiar with previous characters who make a reappearance in this book.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All words are my own.
Her Secret Hope is the last book in the Pinecraft series, I believe it can be read as a standalone but it does help to read the other two for more if the backstory of Lilly a d her friends. Lily moves to Pinecraft, Florida from Ohio to be a housekeeper at an Inn. She meets Eddie and his grandmother November and strike up a friendship. Another sweet Amish romance from Shelley Shepard Gray. Thank you to NetGalley and Revell for the E-ARC. This is my own opinion.
Lilly is one of four Amish girls who met on a bus to Pinecraft, Florida and became fast friends. Lilly does not have a happy home life so she returns to Pinecraft with the intention of getting a job there and living there. Her other friends are already settled in there. (This is part of a series). This time she meets Eddie Kurtz, a farmer who is accompanying his grandmother on a vacation. She falls for Eddie and he falls for her but he has to go back home and Lilly finds out that his home is very close to hers. She really doesn't want to have him find out about her situation there or have to deal with it herself.
I have enjoyed this series and always like to read books by this author.
I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my own honest opinion.
Her Secret Hope brings us back to Pinecraft, FL for the third book in A Seaon in Pinecraft series. It was a warm and wholesome book with Lilly searching for her happily ever after. It was a nice culmination to the series. Although it can be read as a stand alone book, I found it more interesting to have read the first two books in order to get to know the wonderful characters.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Lily’s story, and I just know other readers will too. Having read the other “wallflower” books, I was so happy to read about Lily and see how her journey to happily ever after came to be. I appreciate the lessons and growth that happened for Lily and Eddie, for Nancy and Phillip, and even for Lily’s parents. So often people seem to try to fit into the molds that others have created for them instead of trying to find the happiness and the life that God has for them. This book has great depth of character, good clear plot lines, and a heart warming conclusion, and all of it is written well and in such a way that the reader needs to pause and reflect a bit, too. In a small way, I wish we could have read more about a change of heart in this story, but I’m guessing it would have been too distracting to the story as a whole. I highly recommend this book to lovers of Amish fiction or to those who just need a nice literary escape to sunny Florida.
I requested a copy of this book for review, and the thoughts expressed here are wholly my own.
This is one of those books that makes me want to give it the best review I can so other readers will want to read it too. I thought this book was the best book in Shelley Shepard Gray’s A season in Pinecraft series. In fact in my opinion I felt it just might be the best book she has ever written. I was so drawn into the story that I could feel Lilly Kurtz’s anguish and feelings of betrayal when her boss seemed to side with guests that falsely accused her of wrong doing. I thought this book was heartwarming and emotional. Her Secret Hope is the third and final book of this series. I’m sad to see it come to an end and I enjoyed the other books in the series also. I loved the characters and let myself bond with them.
This book is Lilly Kurtz’s story and how she found happiness in her life. Lilly was adopted by an Amish couple who had older children. It had always seemed like her adoptive parents didn’t really treat her as part of the family. Her friends at school didn’t seem to except her because she had been adopted. When Lilly met Mary Margaret and Betsy on a trail way bus going to Pinecraft Florida the three girls became best friends. Later Easter had becomes friends with the girls too. When Lily moved to Pinecraft to work at the B&B she felt like she belonged there. She didn’t plan on romance to become a part of her life. Lilly had a lot of mixed feelings that she needed to come to grips with in her life and she had a secret that she was ashamed of. Can Lilly ever find love and happiness in her life ?
I recommend this book to readers of Amish Romance Fiction and to fans of the Author. There are two other books in this series and I feel it would be beneficial to read the other books before you read this one. Characters are carried over from book to book. This book is scheduled to be released on 11/7/23.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions shared here in this review are my own.

Amish romance is my favourite genre, and Shelley one of my favourite authors in this genre.
This story has all the vibes I crave in an Amish romance. A sweet and wholesome read following Lily and Eddie as romance blossoms. When secrets come to light, will they turn to each other, or away from each other?
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in return for my honest opinions.
Wow! What a great conclusion to this series, I loved each of the books, and felt invested in each of the main characters.
This is Lilly Kurtz's story, and she is back with her friends, so we are gifted an update on their lives! We do get to meet Eddie and his Grandmother November, and loved that older lady, she told it as it is!
Of course, life can't run smooth, and we are treated to some sweet romance, along with a mystery of a missing sweater! With the mystery and challenges, some life changing decisions are made!
I am sorry that the series is ending, and would love to continue on in the lives of these characters, but looking for future reads by this author.
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Revell, and was not required to give a positive review.
Just finished reading this book and I definitely have mixed feelings about it.
I did enjoy seeing the friends back together again and visiting Pinecraft. I'm always delighted to read anything from this setting.
This novel however felt a little different than the 1st two. I think it was the way that Lilly's and Eddie's relationship was a whirlwind, insta romance. Not exactly a fan of those. It felt too rushed.
Then there's Nancy. I didn't much care for her throughout the whole series. I thought her too pushy and I don't know. It's weird
While I understand Nancy I still thought she did wrong. It made me not want to like her. I have mixed feelings on that too. I won't say anything more.
I loved Lilly. I thought her character was sweet. She's a people pleaser just like me and just like me she's adopted. So we get along just fine.
November was the coolest character ever!! I just loved her. She kind of made me laugh at her antics towards Eddie.
I love Gray's books and I will continue to read them. I love her stories because she does an excellent job in making her characters like Lilly and Eddie come alive.
I did laugh at Eddie though. He really is a hoot.
I'm thinking the message is things will happen in God's timing not our own and He'll put us in places where He thinks we can serve best.
I'm still giving this story 5 stars. I will highly recommend it.
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I was curious to see how this novel would compare to the first two books in the series. It was much better in my opinion and that was largely due to Eddie Byler and his grandmother, November. Two new guests staying at the Inn where newly hired Lilly works and resides.
Lilly has longed to escape her past and ties to her Ohio hometown, but that’s not meant to be when she discovers Eddie lives a few short miles from her hometown. If you are expecting a jaw dropping secret about her past, you won’t find it in this novel, it’s kind of sad, but not the big deal she thinks it is. I felt sorry for her about an incident involving her at work, I thought she was treated unfairly and was happy with the support she received.
Overall, this is an enjoyable quick read, perfect for all ages and a nice addition for readers of Amish fiction.
I received a copy from the publisher through Netgalley. Opinions are my own.
Finally two years after she first visited Lily is moving permanently to Pinecraft Florida. She figures now she has life going the way she wants. And then everything changes. Third and final book of this wonderful series.
1 star
This book started off good enough, but quickly went down hill. Lilly is perhaps the most whiny, insecure and obnoxious Amish person I have ever had the misfortune of reading.
I am not thrilled with Shelley Shepard Gray and will definitely think twice before reading one of her books again. The way she wrote about adopted people and the hardships Lilly faced due to her being adopted was awful.
I gave up at 48% as I could not handle one more page of this drivel.
When I saw Shelley’s latest release in the A Season in Pinecraft series available I just had to grab it and read in less than a day. Never mind that it doesn’t release until November I wasn’t waiting to read it!
I’ve loved this series and getting to know the girls who met on a bus in an ice storm on the way down to Pinecraft. This happened in the first book. Each book in the series has taken us through the girls’ friendships and meeting their beau, marriage and them settling into adult life.
I enjoyed reading the descriptions of Pinecraft, Florida and its Amish population and how they’ve adapted to life there. This book is about Lilly Kurtz, leaving her old life behind is not quite as easy as she thought it would be. Secrets seem to come to light when you least expect it, but will it put a damper on her new budding relationship with hardworking farmer Eddie Byler?
Eddie and his grandmother, November have traveled from Ohio for a vacation. I’ll say November is unlike any Amish woman I’ve read about. She’s sassy and I love her character.
Lilly is happy, she’s found work at an inn and gets along well with the other employees and the owner. When she is blamed for an incident beyond her control at work who will she have to fall back on? I have really enjoyed this series; I think it may be my favorite by the author and greatly look forward to her next series. I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
