Overall, this was an attention grabber with suspenseful activity and ample intrigue which was narrated quite well. I'd give it a solid 5 stars for the narration, 3 stars for the story, and 3 stars for the writing.
When I find myself shouting at and name calling the protagonist for doing incredibly dumb things, my enjoyment of the book plummets. Unfortunately, I had several moments of doing this very thing - the protagonist wound up being someone I find quite contemptable. In addition to poor decisions on the part of the protagonist, the dialogue was incredibly stilted and unbelievable, so kudos to the narrator for navigating the clumsy writing and poorly constructed verbal interactions between characters. Another issue with this particular book was the jumping back and forth between the story from the past and the story from the present - I usually have no issue discerning what is happening when this style of storytelling is utilized, but several times during this listen, I found myself confused. I literally thought there were two separate characters and stories happening, and it wasn't until closer to the end that I realized they were one in the same. Perhaps it was by design, but it made the story muddy and detracted from my overall enjoyment.
This is the first time I've reviewed an audiobook on NetGalley, so maybe it's just the software, but I really prefer audiobooks to have chapters by name or number (the software only showed the chapters as the book's title). I also prefer to see a countdown clock for my timer so I know how long I have until the narrative stops.

Thank you Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this ebook.

I really enjoyed this narrator. She adjusts intonation and cadence well to differentiate between the different characters. The reading speed and enunciation is great as well. I hope to pick up another audiobook narrated by her soon!
Beth and Ian decide to sell Ian’s family’s upstate cabin to help fund their IVF. They go to the cabin to pack it up and clean it out. At the cabin they meet the caretaker, Ryan. But Ryan has a secret reason for being there and Beth has a secret of her own. Ryan is determined to use Beth’s secret against her.
Written in dual storylines Beth and Lizzie, it builds tension and suspense as the story unfolds.
I don’t know that I would say there were any ‘twists’ exactly because I thought they were extremely obvious and not meant to be twists at all- almost included something in my review that is apparently a twist before I checked other reviews. Despite that, there is still tension and excitement building through the book that just makes you want to keep reading (listening in my case). It’s also a rather short read so you don’t have to feel bad about shirking all responsibility to read it in one sitting!

Thank NetGalley for the ARC of this audiobook. This was a fun thriller! Two intense stories going on a once! The storylines are crazy and suspenseful. The ending was kind of a let down, I was hoping for a big bang.

The "Queen of revenge plots," Author Emily Shiner, returns following her sizzling (Dec, 2022) I'm Following You (5 Stars) and (Jan 2023) The Forgotten Boy (5 Stars) with YOU CAN'T HIDE —another addictive domestic psychological suspense of revenge/obsession mixed with dark, twisted humor.
Shiner is on FIRE! Her BEST yet.
It is difficult to write a short review because I have so much to discuss, and I love her books! I want everyone to read them.
Two storylines converge for a heart-pounding explosive showdown. You can RUN, but you cannot HIDE. The past and dark secrets rise to the surface.
A cautionary tale: Note: WATCH OUT FOR THE CAMERAS! Also, REVENGE has no expiration date.
LIZZY: As the book opens in rural Turkey Pen, Alabama, we meet Lizzy, a young woman down on her luck after being stranded on the roadside. A trap of a car, and she has no money to call a tow truck or AAA.
She needs to get to Pop's Diner for her shift and hopes someone will stop and help. After several cars pass, she starts walking. A good-looking guy in a suit stops. Wow, how did she get so lucky? At least he is not a killer. ...What she does not know yet.
His name is Zachary. He says he borrowed the truck since he is getting new tires on his Lexus. He is the new doctor in town— A doctor? And he looks like he could be on the cover of G.Q. For real?
He takes her to the Diner and then asks for her keys. He will see if he can repair her car and drop it off for her before her shift ends. Who is this guy? He indeed does what he says.
It turns out he is a REAL doctor. Dr. Zachary Pierce, Board-certified family practice, went to Duke University and completed a residency in Chicago. What is he doing here in this small town? Usually, men have an ulterior motive, but what is his?
Unfortunately, she will find out, but only when it is too late. Also, Lizzy has a dark past. One that she wants to stay buried.
BLACKMAIL. This guy is PURE EVIL! A monster. A master manipulator. He knows about her past. If she does not do what he says. He will tell the world. He knows what she did. He wants someone to fix. She is the victim.
He wants the perfect wife. The perfect marriage. The Perfect life. Perfect wins. Lizzy wants the perfect murder!
She soon learns (after the marriage) her husband is a control freak and a psychopath. A devil in disguise. He is abusive. Tortures. He keeps her prisoner in her own home with cameras everywhere so she cannot leave the house. He makes sure she has no friends. He planned this very carefully. He knows her every move. Then when she disobeys, she is moved to the basement as a prisoner. He wants to make her body perfect. A sicko.
How will she ever escape? She has killed before to save herself, and she will do it again, given the chance.
BETH: In alternating chapters, we meet Beth.
Beth, a florist, and her husband, Ian Myers (very sweet guy), a high school teacher/photographer. She is very private due to her past, but her husband does not know about her past and he puts it all out there on social media.
They live in the N.C. mountains, but they are headed to upstate New York near Canada in the middle of a snowstorm. Of course, N.Y. snowstorms are nothing like N.C.
The reason for the urgency is that Ian inherited his family's mountain cabin and wants to clean the place to prepare for putting it on the market. They need to sell the cabin to help finance the costly IVF treatments. They want children, and it has not been easy.
He says she does not have to go, but she goes along. Once there, she sees the cabin is nestled way back in the woods, in the middle of nowhere. They must walk through the woods to get to it from the main road. This is difficult since it is night and the snow is so deep. They can barely see in front of them.
Once they finally arrive, a dead deer is next to the cabin. Then inside, it appears someone has been living here. There is a cat, food in the refrigerator, a book (The Art of Never Letting Go), a hunter, and someone who has built a fire recently. Weird!
She is concerned, but Ian thinks the property manager/caretaker may be looking after it. They have no cell phone coverage or internet.
This makes no sense to Beth. What if who had been staying here comes back? Who is this person he is referring to named Ryan, the caretaker?
Then things become very weird and freaky at the cabin, and Beth thinks something sinister is happening. They must get out of here. They will clean and then leave. But with power problems and other things, they are delayed. They took a week off from work, and Ian is not in a hurry to leave.
She is not wrong for worrying. They are trapped. She feels like she is in the middle of a horror movie. She feels like someone is watching them. Is there a squatter? There is also a shed outside the cabin. They must leave the cabin. Start their family and leave New York, and never look back.
However, the mysterious intruder returns, and he has a PLAN. Beth is about to come face to face with her past. One she thought was long buried. What happens next will blow your mind. What he is demanding. It is sick and horrifying.
Now she and her husband are both in danger. How will they escape? Who will live, and who will die?
At first, you are unsure where Emily is taking you with Lizzy (as this part is not in the book description summary). Be patient, and enjoy the journey.
All will come together at the cabin. Oh, and then wait. Just when you think all is tied up with a bow at the end. Watch out. There is another signature Shiner jaw-dropping wicked twist to leave you smiling.
I was dying, before this twist, saying GET THE CAMERA!! PLEASE.
OMG! Between the evil Zachary doctor, the basement, and the creepy Ryan property manager at the cabin in this claustrophobic snow setting in the woods, this book is spine-chilling! The vivid settings and the characters jump off the page.
Around 50% into the book, readers will learn about Lizzy's past. You will sympathize with her until the end. She reminds me of Freida McFadden's Millie (The Housemaid & The Housemaid's Secret. She cannot catch a break, and her past keeps surfacing and being used against her.
This book was so good, and I read it in one sitting. The way the two stories came together was quite clever, and that ENDING!
YOU CAN'T HIDE pulses with suspenseful twists propelling the reader to the explosive end. Cameras are a big part of both storylines. I loved it! It would make a great movie!
AUDIOBOOK: I read the e-book and listened to the audiobook narrated by Emily Durante for a spine-chilling and engaging performance.
All her books are original. I AM IN FOR AN ENTERTAINING RIDE when I start reading an Emily Shiner book. I always clear my calendar before starting one of her books because they are addictive and unputdownable.
I discovered Emily not long ago and have loved everything she writes. I love N.C. authors (I am a native) and enjoy her crisp writing style. She never takes you on a side trip. It is propulsive all the way. One of my favorite authors, and making my way through her backlist in between all my new ARCs.
This book is unique and unlike any others, but when reading parts of it, I am reminded of these (all favorites too).
~Kimberly Belle: Side of the road pick up Lizzy, The Personal Assistant, Except K.B.'s gal, was a maid at a hotel, and the guy who picked her up was a wealthy businessman instead of a doctor.
~Lisa Unger: Cabin, Beth Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six Trapped. The creepy property manager and cameras.
~Clemence Michallon: Lizzy held hostage in the basement of The Quiet Tenant Beth: Shed. It comes out June 2023 (so good). My favorite!
~B.A. Paris: Lizzy and Beth trapped The Prisoner.
~Freida McFadden: The Housemaid and The Housemaid's Secret Lizzy/Beth's past and using it against her.

BINGEWORTHY! I received this ARC audiobook and finished it in two days!!
The narrator was fantastic. I sometimes have a hard time with audiobooks because the narrator can make it sound cheesier than intended. This narrator absolutely nailed it.
This is what I would call a “beach read.” It’s something you don’t want to put down, even if the ending is a little bit predictable. I loved the dual story (keeping it general to avoid spoilers here) and was absolutely captivated the whole time. I was constantly on the edge of my seat. Sometimes I get so excited during intense parts of books that I skip ahead or fast forward through the narration. I did not with this book. The action parts were written clearly and concisely.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a thrilling beach read!

"You Can't Hide" was a twisty and engaging thriller with strong and compelling characterizations.
TRIGGERS: Domestic violence, domestic violence, and more domestic violence.
At times, the book was difficult to listen to because of the sadistic nature and intensity of the domestic violence portrayed.
Many aspects of the book's plotline were extremely farfetched and this took stars off my rating.
Also negatively impacting my rating was the fact that the book was predictable. I easily guessed the book's major twist early on.
I listened to the audiobook read by Emily Durante.
Although Emily Durante did a superb job with the narration, the book would have benefited from two narrators since it unfolded from two POVs.
Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
3.5 stars.

I'm not sure I've read a novel that has ever driven me to potential rage and violence as much as You Can't Hide. I wanted to go Mama Bear for one of the poor main characters. From the first moment we meet Lizzy it's clear her marriage was not good - abusive (trigger warning) and very Sleeping with the Enemy vibes. Emily Shiner is so good at writing, I was ready with the pitchfork and torches.
The audio arc for this book was excellent. There are two main characters and the POV switches back and forth, so for a while, it's kind of difficult to imagine how this will end up and the stories connect. BUT, I listened intently, unable to stop and it was only at the last chapter or two where I could satisfyingly act like I knew what was going to happen.
The publishers are using the comparison of this book to current popular authors Freida McFadden, Daniel Hurst and Teresa Driscoll. It is an accurate marketing tool - if you enjoy those authors, you will enjoy You Can't Hide.

This twists and turns in this book were fantastic and it took me a surprisingly long time to put together what exactly was happening. This book follows the story of two women are seemingly unrelated, one takes place in Alabama with a "happy marriage" turns violent and the other is a husband in wife in upstate NY preparing her husbands family cabin to be put on the market. Each chapter helps you understand how these two stories cross paths.
I only wish there had been a bit more wrapped at the end as I don't think this book necessarily warrants a sequel.
I look forward to reading more from this author.
Thank you Netgalley and publisher for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

What happens when your past comes calling?
Instantly gripping and tense, You Can't Hide sucked me from the very beginning with the gripping plot, sense of danger and mounting tension!
Beth and Ian have decided to sell his family cabin in upstate New York, to pay for IVF. They are excited and look forward to their future. Trudging through the snow, they make their way to their cabin and meet Ryan, the caretaker. Beth and Ian, both find him unsettling and feel uncomfortable in his presence. It soon becomes clear that he is not who he claims to be. Plus, he seems to know things about Beth and her past.
I listened to the audiobook and loved the narration. I was instantly drawn into the You Can't Hide and it's two timelines. I had a feeling I knew where things were going but Emily Shiner managed to throw in quite a few shocking twists and turns that she threw me off a little.
This is a fast paced, gripping, and intense page turner which kept me on the edge of my seat! The setting at the cabin was atmospheric. The snow provided a chilling backdrop for the tension that was mounting inside the cabin.
I enjoyed this well thought out and crafted psychological thriller. I look forward to reading/listening to more books by Emily Shiner.

Libby thinks she has met the perfect man in Doctor Zack but when she agrees to marry him and then learns he is gotten rid of her old car and her clothes and says she must buy all new things so as not to embarrass him around a little Alabama town she didn’t tell him she changed her mind but when he tells her if she doesn’t go through with it he will let everyone know why she left Louisiana. She wants again changes her mind but spends the whole time married to him trying to find a way to get out because he has made it virtually impossible but not absolutely impossible. Upper state New York Beth is following her husband to the little cabin his family owns in the isolated country when they first get there he finds a dead deer newly deceased and tells her to go in and start the fire but when she enters the house she sees a cat with the name tag Maya and newspapers with the days date on it. after a few scary moments, Beth learns who is in the house but how these two couples stories intertwine it’s mine blowing and some thing I’ve come to expect from Emily Shriner. I can honestly say from her first book until this one you can clearly see how much her talent has grown and although her first thriller was pretty good I have to say this one is extraordinary! If you love twist interns with thrills and chills you will definitely love You Can’t Hide by Emily Shriner so if you’re looking for a five star read you should definitely pick this up it is so good in a book I highly recommend and thoroughly enjoyed. I listen to the audiobook and thought the narrator had a great voice she set the tone expertly and gave a great performance to make for a great listen. I received this book from NetGalley in dreamscape media but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

I loved this as a book- and I love it as an audiobook. It is so creepy and so scary. And the ending is gold. The narrator was perfection.

This was a generally enjoyable read, although somewhat predictable. The narrator of the audiobook was not my favorite, and that unfortunately distracted me from the plot at times. I sincerely think I might have enjoyed this one more if I had read it myself instead of listening to it.

I loved this audiobook. The narrator was easy to listen to and animated at all the right times.
There are two story lines that alternate and it took a little bit for them to join together, but when they did, it was perfect!
The author perfectly captures the emotions of a woman in an abusive relationship and the revenge at the end. Oh so sweet! The only critique I have is that the female lead got away with murder, twice. Both ending in arson, which I feel like it’s very unlikely to do, more than once. But nonetheless, I finished this book within 2 days, I didn’t want to stop listening!
Thank you to NetGalley and dreamscape media for the advanced audio copy!

3.75ish stars
This one didn’t turn out quite how I thought it would. The story was fairly exciting and fast-paced, and there were a few twists and turns along the way. I didn’t necessarily love the absolute ending, but since I enjoyed the journey to get there, it was still fine and an enjoyable story that was, in a few ways, reminiscent of Behind Closed Doors.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the free audio book in exchange for my honest review. This is narrated by Emily Durante who does a great job! I really enjoyed this audio book!
Lizzy and Beth are our 2 narrators telling their stories. Lizzie is trapped in an abusive marriage, trying to figure a way out. Beth and her husband are trying to have children and decide to sell their upstate NY cabin for IVF money. As I listened to the 2 different women, I waited to see how their seemingly different stories would intersect. Towards the end, I figured it out but did not care!
This is such an atmospheric, suspenseful story! I was yelling in my head at each of these women as they told their stories and was on pins and needles waiting to find out their next steps! The twists and turns were well executed. The characters were well developed. Such a fast paced read!!!
Publishes June 20th!!
Highly recommend!!!!!

Get ready to dive into the heart-pounding world of Emily Shiner's You Can't Hide. From the very first page, I was drawn into the gripping tale of Beth and Ian, a couple desperate for a child. But their decision to sell their family cabin sets off a chain of events they never saw coming. Enter Ryan, the enigmatic caretaker harboring a dark secret that threatens to unravel Beth's life. As I followed Beth's journey, I found myself immersed in a nightmarish trap, where every twist and turn left me breathless.
Shiner's ability to delve into the psyche of a psychopathic husband is truly remarkable, creating a character that is both deeply disturbing and fascinating. What impressed me most was the author's skill in maintaining an unsettling atmosphere, punctuated by moments of respite that allowed me to catch my breath before being plunged back into the heart-stopping action.
The narrative unfolds through alternating perspectives, gradually revealing the chilling connection between the characters. I must admit, it took me by surprise, and I found myself eagerly anticipating how everything would come together. You Can't Hide strikes a perfect balance between intensity and discomfort, making it a compelling choice for readers seeking a psychological thriller that keeps them on the edge of their seat. Shiner's portrayal of Beth as a resilient protagonist and the intricate web of secrets and twists make this a standout read.
I want to extend my sincere appreciation to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for providing me with an ALC of You Can't Hide. Their generosity allowed me to discover this gripping and captivating thriller that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression.

I had the pleasure of listening to this incredible thriller on audio, and I must say, I absolutely adored it! While it may not have been perfect, it had everything I could ever want in a suspenseful story. From the very beginning, it had me hooked with its intriguing secrets and suspenseful plot twists. The characters were exceptionally well-developed, each with their own hidden agendas and motivations, which kept me guessing until the very end.
What truly impressed me was the clever writing style employed throughout the narrative. The author skillfully crafted a web of tension and intrigue, leaving me on the edge of my seat, eager to uncover the truth. The pacing was superb, with just the right balance of anticipation and surprise.
And let's not forget the ending! It was satisfying and tied up all the loose ends, providing a satisfying resolution to the story. I found myself reflecting on the twists and turns long after the final chapter concluded.
In summary, this thrilling audiobook had it all: secrets, suspense, great characters, clever writing, and a nice ending. It captured my attention from start to finish, delivering an immersive experience that left me wanting more. I highly recommend it to any fan the genre.

Told from two viewpoints, Lizzie and Beth, these storylines seem to have nothing to link them. Lizzie is married to a frightening control freak who tortures her with mind games and keeps her isolated from everyone she ever knew. Beth has traveled with her husband to his family’s isolated cottage to ready it to sell to pay for their IVF treatments. The two storylines eventually collide with horrific force in the middle of a blizzard in the middle of nowhere. Refreshingly different and addictive as peanuts/

Thank you NetGalley for this audio ARC. I LOVED this book. It kept me guessing at all times and wondering if I was correct in my assumptions. A must read!

Many thanks to Net Galley and Dreamscape Media for an audio copy of You Can't Hide.
This is probably the most favorite audiobook I listened to in at least 3 months. I was riveted, lost sleep so I could return to the story. Absolutely loved this story! 5 stars!!!
