Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for granting me free access to the advanced digital copy of this book.
Lumine is an interesting mix of cutesy and violent, and I think that it's perfect for middle schoolers. The story is engaging and the characters are complex. I'm interested to see where the story goes.

This was an interesting read but I dont know that I am intrigued enough to continue it. There's some mystery and fantasy and very bloody.
This was cute! We follow Lumine who is down on his luck until he meets Kody, a witch boy in need of a bodyguard. Lumine goes to school with Kody and sees first hand how much he gets bullied. Lumine wants to help Kody but he's stubborn and won't accept any help. Will Lumin be able to convince Kody to accept his help?
I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to read the next volume! Also Lumine's transformed shape is adorable.
I enjoy this graphic novel. It was adorable. I love the artwork. I need to read the volume 2. I enjoy the main character.
This one took forever to get going, and then never really went anywhere. Lumine is likeable and interesting, but he's paired with a bunch of duds wholly intent on keeping their secrets secret. I truly wish the title character in this book had been put to better use.
I won't be continuing with this series.
I really enjoyed this story. I can't wait to read the next instalment!
I may need to add this title to my WebToons account. ; )
There was beautiful artwork and a fun story. I’m a big Manta fan and this something that I’d easily get hooked on in that app or others like it. It was a bit hard to read with a huge watermark in it though.
Loved the art but the story telling didn’t really keep my attention. Story just wasn’t as that interesting in my opinion.
This is a beautifully illustrated graphic novel about bullying, family and friendship. Unfortunately, the text was difficult to read at times do to the poorly placed water mark that obscured a large section of each page. This made the story difficult to full enjoy.
Thank you Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group, WEBTOON Unscrolled, and NetGalley for the advanced electronic review copy of this book. This is a great beginning of the series with beautiful, detailed art, nice characters, and a good, relatable plot for the middle grade/YA audience. One thing I didn’t enjoy was the sign “Property of WEBTOON Unscrolled Do Not Share” repeated over and over again across each and every page, covering the actual story text and making reading very difficult. The ending was rather abrupt so the volume feels unfinished. Due to that my rating is 3.5 stars.
This is a very emotional story of prejudice, bullying, and the bond that can develop between youngsters.
I did not enjoy this. I do not think the art was that good and I did not care about the characters. It ended at a weird point, too. I will not look for more in this series.
Lumine Volume One is a beautiful graphic novel of a young werewolf and witch boy who are trying to fine their way in this world. From wanting to be like others to just trying to survive the bullies that don't like those that are different. Each character has their own struggles, but really they are so similar. The story gives just enough information balancing what we need to know for the time being and dying to know all the answers. I can't wait for volume two. The art is absolutely amazing! This graphic novel is on preorder for both my library and my personal collection. Bring on volume 2!
A pretty standard middle-grade manga. The setting is somewhat interesting, and the characters are okay, but it's a little cliche, and I didn't see a lot of character development happening. This is only volume one, so maybe the story will get better later on, but in the meantime, I just didn't find much to love about it.
Lumine is a fantastic Webtoon adaptation into a graphic novel. There were some formatting issues that I will not fault the artist/author for as I think things were wonky from transfer to e-ARC (blank pages with color blocks cut off the left sides). Overall, I felt that this is an interesting exploration of friendship through the lens of fantasy.
There were certain parts of the narrative that felt a little flat and confusing, but I feel that through further volumes will be ironed out.
I really enjoyed this graphic novel, but I feel like the parents of the community would not like this in the teen department even though I believe that is where it is going to get taken out the most. I will definitely be asking the adult department to order this book.
Lumine is beautifully illustrated and has an intriguing plot. Kody’s father hires werepup Lumine to be his bodyguard as Kody has a..uncanny ability to attract trouble and bullies in and out of school. Lumine has a track record of screwing up his assignments being only 12, an orphan, timid, and his wolf/dog form is more like an adorable Pokémon style Pomeranian than a predator, but he has a fiery drive to protect Kody, a quiet and surly young witch who seems to have no friends but the little Smokey feline demon that no one other than himself and Lumine can see. The story unfolds as the two gradually accept one another, Lumine out of desperation for a friend and a place to live, Kody with much more grudging slow respect but still keeping a block of self isolation in place to the point he almost seems to want to protect Lumine from the negativity that follows him everywhere he goes by pushing him away. Overall, it’s a cute and somewhat somber story of friendship and bullying and he damage bullying and isolation can cause with the addition of supernatural elements. Interesting takes on both witches and werewolves, very cute and different designs, distinctive characters.
Aw Man!!!!
This one left me hanging, like fingertip gripping the edge of the mountain while a river of crocodiles is waiting for you at the bottom hanging.... I really thought my phone was crashing or that the app had a bug or something. At least that's how I felt when I turned the last page.
So here I am writing a review while I actually just want to read the next volume.
At first I was afraid, I was petrified....
No, seriously,
I was afraid that this might be to childish or to adorable. But the wolfs are just the right amount of cute and so is the shadow cat. The rest is not jet dark enough for me. But since it was an open ending, who knows...
Anyway, the story is good enough for me to wait in anticipation for the next volume.
I'm not sure what I expected with Lumine. I've read some great webtoons that have translated into graphic novels fairly well. Unfortunately, with Lumine, I felt like I was dropped into the middle of a story without a lot of worldbuilding. And I'm not a big fan of the Manga style illustrations. Even though it didn't work for me, I'm sure plenty of others will devour it.
