Second Act by Danielle Steel is everything we have come to know and love from an author. The traditional friends, family, and romance read from this amazing author! Andy and Violet are the perfect characters you can't help but root for in this story. I felt this book played out like a movie and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Andy and Violet both have to come clean with each other in order for this relationship to work. The have a love that is genuine . It takes a while for them to deal with their issues but a happy ending is in the future. I have not read a Danielle Steel novel in a long time. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and enjoyed that this one had a male character that was the lead.

The studio he works for has been bought so they fired him. He doesn’t know what to do since he has been the CEO for nineteen years. He goes to England and meets up with a friend that does indie movies. He meets a woman that is writing a book. They decide to make a indie movie.

Danielle Steel pulled a switcheroo with a male protagonist in Second Act - move exec Andy Westfield suddenly goes from head honcho to unemployed and finds himself needing to escape. Another beautiful seaside setting with the potential for romance, and Steel has the right recipe to spice up my weekend! Thanks to #NetGalley for the opportunity to read #Second by Danielle Steel. I am already anticipating her next release.

Life doesn't always turn out like we plan. Sometimes, it's better. Andy and Violet find themselves in a stage in life where big decisions have to be made. Love seems to make those decisions work out. Another lovely story from Danielle Steel

I enjoyed this DS book. I loved the main character and how after losing his big time job he finally realizes what the important things in life are. I also loved Violet. And how she recovers from past trauma.

Thank you to NetGalley for this e-copy of Second Act by Danielle Steel.I liked this book because it centered around a main character who was a male instead of her usual female main character although there is a strong female character in this story too.Andy Westfield is a powerful head of Global Studios who one day loses his job and is utterly lost.Used to a high power, opulent life style without his job Andy has no purpose. He flees to England to lick his wounds and while there he meets Violet , a woman who has suffered abuse and utter heartbreak. When Andy views Violet’s unfinished story he reads it and is amazed at her talent. He wants to help put her story on the big screen. Can he reinvent himself and find a new life with love and purpose or will he return to his old life when opportunity calls? Read the book and find out.Definitely a different romantic novel.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this book.

Andy is the head of a studio in LA. He is summarily fired after 19 years and decides to spend some time away from the spotlight to lick his wounds in peace. He goes to a small English town and hires a local woman to be his assistant. She will change his world.

This book was fine. A typical Steel novel that is heavy on repetition and light on plot. It works well as a palate cleanser after reading heavy books because you don't have to engage fully. You can skim the page and know exactly what's happening. I do feel that Steel is very out of touch with the world we live in today and her novels show that. I give this one 2.5 stars, rounded up to 3.

Compared to many of Danielle Steel's novels, I really enjoy this cover a lot. It was very visually appealing which made me quite excited to read this story. It is still a Danielle Steel novel, so keep that in mind, especially if you've read her books before. I enjoyed the story about Andy, the CEO of a movie production company, as he took a step out of the public eye for a bit. I did find this to be very predictable of a story, so there wasn't too much interest in getting to the end honestly. It did have more potential than many of her stories. It just wasn't executed the best.

Andy had power in the palm of his hand. He was a studio head for global enterprise in LA and he was there for 19 years. He had sacrificed time with his family and his daughter growing up in order to have the job of his dreams. Although one of the nicest guys in Hollywood, Andy still got off on the power he had. Then one day it was all gone in an instant.
Second Act is a great example of why I love Danielle Steel. She takes her characters through tragic events and tells the story of their resiliency. This book was predictable at times but still so enjoyable.

Andy always put his career before family and now besides his daughter and young grandchildren it’s the only thing he truly loves. Andy’s world is turned upside down when the studio sold and the buyers son demands top seat. Andy spirals bing out of a job and humiliated he decides to get away from Los Angles soon as possible until the dust settles and he can find a new way forward. Andy signs a six month lease on a luxury home in a tiny town two hours from London. When he arrives he hires a local woman to help get his affairs in order. A former journalist Violet Smith is at a crossroads as well and this job is what she needs to tide her over. When Violet leaves the manuscript of her unfinished novel behind after work Andy lets his curiosity get the best of him and is captivated by the story that begs to be adapted to the big screen. This was a very compelling story with great characters. I love and am amazed by how many stories Danielle Steel can come up with she is my all time favorite writer and highly recommend this and her other books to everyone.
