I'd like to start this review by deeply thanking NetGalley and Mad Cave Studies (publisher) for granting me access to an ARC of this book in exchange of an honest review.

I gave this graphic novel 5 stars!

A group of friends get together on Halloween to get some treats. While outside, they meet a setient puppet that takes them to an alternate world where they must collect a certain amount of teeth in order to go back home. On their journey, they separate in smaller groups and we see real people with their own emotions and unresolved issues that make some of then consider staying in this dangerous place.

Aside from TJ Klune's books, I don't often come across emotions that are so vivid and real as the ones the characters of this graphic novel had. The issues, ups and down, feelings, emotions and interactions made me feel I was a firts line espectator or what was happening in the book. At times, I even screamed at them LOL.

I thought characters were really well built and the progress their emotions went through helped make the reading experience much more enjoyable and believable. None of them was perfect and talked/thought like regular teenagers nowadays.

The art and colour palette were gorgeous and enhanced the atmosphere of the story. If you'd like to know the names of all the contributors, you can go to my BookTube channel, The Book Dreamer's Alley, and check my video review of this work.

This graphic novel kept a perfect balance between atmosphere, characters and plot (importance in this order), which made me really happy because I'm an atmosphere driven reader, but dislike having the other aspects mentioned kind of left out or not taken care of.

With how much I enjoyed this, there's no way I don't recommend it.

This graphic novel is such a wild, colorful ride! Confetti Realms blends fantasy, adventure, and a touch of eerie weirdness in the best way possible. The story throws a group of teens into a bizarre, otherworldly realm filled with strange creatures and unexpected dangers, and the mix of humor, heart, and horror makes for an engaging read.

The artwork is absolutely stunning—vibrant, chaotic (in a good way), and bursting with personality. The character dynamics were fun, though I did wish for a little more depth in some areas. That said, the story keeps you hooked, and there’s a great balance of emotional moments and pure adventure.

If you love stories about found family, spooky-fun worlds, and chaotic energy, Confetti Realms is definitely worth checking out!

I would have loved to have read this book, the synopsis sounds so fascinating and exactly the type of graphic novel I enjoy. Unfortunately the time allowed to read it was too short and life became too hectic. I'll hopefully pick up a copy of this some day or borrow it from the library (sadly they currently don't have it) so I can read it myself. The cover definitely grabbed my eye which is why I added it to my requests.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read an advanced copy of this graphic novel.

I somehow missed the chance to download this before it archived but just recently found a copy through Scribd. Definitely should have read it from here when I had the chance because the formatting on there was so grainy, I couldn't read the dialogue as easily as I know I could through NetGalley.

Because of how grainy and hard to read my copy was, it made the enjoyment of this horror story very difficult. I liked the art style and how creepy things were but the details were harder to follow aside from the horribly funny idea of a frog holding a knife to rob teeth from people. The character interactions were interesting, it wasn't easy for me to keep track of names at first but once I got into the story, Marrisa's and Radwa's conversations with their strained relationship hurt but were handled pretty well. And I love when an ending has information towards resources for help.

Thank you for allowing me to read this as an ARC. I loved everything about it, from the drawing style to the story itself. What I liked most and why I’ll make sure to recommend my older students to read this book is that by the end of the story everyone was able to find their place in their own world, overcoming any problems they had found through the story.

Nah, I can’t say this one was especially good. Maybe the idea is good, but the execution felt kind of messy and meh to me.

Not my kind of story, apparently.

Not gonna lie I completely forgot about this one and when I rediscovered it... I DEVOURED it. This was so good! I am a sucker for graphic novels always but this one really hooked me in. I loved the story, the querness, and the overall found family sort of vibe. The art is beautiful, everything about was amazing. I will be requesting this for our library!

Confetti Realms is a story with a good dose of humour and a cast of interesting characters, but whose plot does not fully exploit enough. The style of the comic's panels and speech bubbles are very original and visually it is a work with a lot of color. Even so, the journey of the characters and how they get to know these creatures does not fully take hold and ends up being a story that leaves no trace.

I don’t know what I expected from this story, but this was a bit of a whirlwind. The friendship struggles that were suddenly set in the background of this mythical works was a bit jarring. Like are you really gonna fight about something when you’re trapped and trying to get home? The open ended ending was also surprising, and I wish it had wrapped up in a more complete way.

A cute, spooky graphic novel filled with a wonderful cast of characters. When I find myself wishing for a Pumpkin Spice Latte and sweater weather I pull out this book.

I signed up for it as I was expecting a creepy Halloween story, but it turned out to be more focused on "young-adulting" and feelings than the world building and eerie vibes (they turned out to be more fantasy-like than Halloween-like in the end). Four teenagers end up in a wacky fantasy town after they stumble upon a scary monster puppet in the cemetery. In order to come back to their world the teens need to collect teeth for the creature. They journey into a city full of magical animal-like beasts - and this was probably what I liked the most about the whole idea. Their designs were creative in funny and sometimes in unnerving way - all of it gave a strong Ghibli vibe, and it's a shame that the authors didn't focus more on the fantasy aspect of the story. Instead, the main plot is mainly teenage angst, as our characters brought a whole lot of emotional baggage and trauma into this other world. The question if they even really want to go back is what drives this story, and considering how abruptly it ends (I felt as if I missed a big chunk of the plot somewhere) I wouldn't say it was delivered very well. Also the art here seems rather underdeveloped, with characters' faces missing proper emotions, so it's not my style.

I found the first part of this book super hard to get into, it was incredibly slow... And I even went back and re-read.

There were moments that were definitely sweet.
But I left the story feeling like I missed something important to be able to understand the story and even upon going back couldn't find it.

‘Confetti Realms’ by Nadia Shammas with art by Karnessa is a graphic novel about a group of teens who find themselves in a strange alternate realm.

Four friends on Halloween meet up in a diner for some creepy fun. Their travels take them to a graveyard where they meet a strange puppet who sends them to the Confetti Realms. To get back home, they need to collect a number of teeth. This leads them on a quest seeking out animals including a gambling frog. While wandering around on their strange quest, they learn that if they don’t finish, they may be trapped and transformed in the Confetti Realms forever.

I like a lot of the pieces here, but the execution is odd and confusing. Teets is an interesting currency, but it is never fully explained or developed. Angsty teen emotions are heavy, but fine for the story. The art is pretty good and the concepts are interesting. I just wish it had been fully formed.

This was a quick read with beautiful artwork. I expected the story of this one to be a bit more spooky and was disappointed to find that wasn't the case. However that doesn't mean this book wasn't creepy the confetti realm and its inhabitants were incredibly unsettling especially the use of teeth as currency. I was excited to find both queer rep, including a nonbinary character and also mental health rep in this one. I didn't love this one, but it did keep me interested and even giggling out loud from time to time.

One of my favorite things is a good fall/halloween-themed graphic novel. I seek out new ones each year with relish. Confetti Realms had a promising cover and it takes place on Halloween night so I decided to request an ARC. It opens with a group of teens sitting in a cafe on Halloween night. They decide to visit a graveyard where they end up meeting a large sentient puppet who sends the teens to another dimension and the only way back is to collect enough teeth and return them to the puppet.

This isn't a bad book even if it doesn't really fit the themes I was looking for. For one the cover has elements that would lead you to believe that this story will be set during the spooky season. And while it does open on Halloween night the characters are quickly transported to a fantasy realm where they meet unusual characters and partake in interesting things in order to gather the teeth... but the Halloween vibes are kind of left behind. The warm color palette that I associate with fall remains but the story becomes more of the run-of-the-mill fantasy variety. The story is unique and somewhat compelling but lacked those vibes I was really looking for. The books purpose seemed to be more about learning underlying messages like being true to who are and forgiveness. The synopsis offered on Goodreads does share that this is the case but I didn't read that until I had already completed the novel.

I enjoyed the art style- it's definitely similar to styles that I have found in other fall-themed GNs but it wasn't anything special. I appreciated the inclusivity offered in the story and found the fantasy elements of the other realm to be creepy at times so it does still offer that spooky atmosphere even if its not directly related to the season as I had hoped. I'd still recommend this for the fall- just be aware going in that if you're looking for a story mired in the specific elements of the autumnal season this will have that but very sparsely and only in the first few scenes- then its just general spooky and fantastical vibes from there. Mental health is also largely represented here so keep that in mind as well.

This was a fun YA graphic novel with beautiful and sometimes creepy illustrations. When four teens decide to venture into a graveyard on Halloween, they end up getting transported to a magical place called the Confetti Realms where they have to preform a series of tasks in order to get home.

There were parts of the story that I found a little hard to follow but most of it I thought was both entertaining and thoughtful. I will definitely be recommending this around Halloween!
