This Halloween-y graphic novel is pretty short and fun. The main characters go through the story navigating their feelings and friendships in this magical land while trying to get home. They deal with topics such as gender, mental health issues, relationships and insecurities.

The art style is really nice. I really liked the concept of the Confetti Realm. I loved all the creatures in it. All the bugs and insects were really cool and creative. I love animals (and Halloween and queer characters) so this was right up my alley.

Loved the queer rep in here as well. Spooky season is my favorite, so add queer characters to it and its even better! Give me all the spooky queer books!

I wish it was a bit longer and we got to spend more time in this world. It does end a bit abruptly, but you know what happens.

Overall, I really enjoyed this!

So, I didn't love this.

While I liked that the novel has a rather diverse cast, I found none of the characters likable. There was a lot of (unnecessary) drama around their friendships / relationships, which got tiring at some point.

The plot was alright. There were some fun ideas incorporated, but the execution wasn't the best. There were too many plotholes (e.g. people just coincidally showing up at the same place as the others after splitting up), so the plot felt a little messy.

The art style, while nice enough, also wasn't for me.

Overall I can see some people liking this book, but I'd generally not recommend it to anyone.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved how confetti realms look. The art work is beautiful and the world was very extraordinary. I do wish the book was a little longer and we got to see more of their lives before and after the world. I thought the characters were interesting and I could relate to them in some parts. The character development was pretty good. I truly loved the new characters we met in this new world and I loved how each of them played a part in their story. I love the LGBTQIAP+ representation in the book. It was a super easy and quick read. The illustration is so beautiful and was definitely my favorite part. I think I would love this even more in a physical copy.
If you are looking a for a quick read with out of this world illustration, join these 4 teens on Halloween night who meet a puppet in a grave yard and get sent to a world like no other to help the puppet on an adventure.

4 stars - It was really good

This was a fascinating Halloween story. On Halloween night four teenagers go drinking in a graveyard and end up finding a sentient puppet that sends them to a mysterious dimension called Confetti Realms. While they go on an adventure they overcome the obstacles in their friendship that had been getting in the way of their happiness.

I really enjoyed this. It was unique, fun, and had beautiful artwork. Confetti Realms was a fascinating world filled with very interesting creatures. The puppet was a wonderfully interesting and creepy character and I would totally be tempted to buy something that creepy if I saw it in real life. I really enjoyed seeing these four friends work through their issues during their journey to find teeth, which is like currency in this world. I really want more stories in Confetti Realms now.

Trigger Warnings: panic attacks; mother with cancer mentioned;

This was fun, kinda spooky and kinda cheesy (in a good way), and I loved the adventure our cast of characters went on. This was super easy to get into and super fast paced. Also, I loved the illustrations.

Loved the graphics and the story, the inclusivity was great and the backdrop of confetti realm was so different and unique. It was a quick read, easy to follow and enjoyable.
I’ve taken a point off due to the abrupt ending, it didn’t really feel like a try ending to the story it just sort of stopped and I have questions!
I’m hoping there might be a sequel!

Rating: 6/10 – 3 stars out of 5
Genre: Graphic novel

We are all important, valuable, incredible. Don't let anyone make you believe otherwise.

In this graphic novel we meet a group of friends who want to do something fun on Halloween night and decide to go to the cemetery. However, there they will find another world and they will have to face themselves and their emotions.

The drawings are beautiful and whoever illustrated them took great care in the details.

As for the story, I loved that it dealt with issues of mental health, insecurities, fears, misunderstandings... The importance of talking to others and expressing our points of view is perfectly reflected. I would have liked more if some characters were not taken so lightly or represented as if they were "weirdos" or something like that.

There is a large representation of various sexual orientations and races. I find it incredible how they have managed it without it sounding forced. This is real life and it has to be seen.

A great job, although it has some points that I am not completely convinced: in addition to those already mentioned, nothing is explained about the ending and it is not known exactly what happened, what Tom offers, what the change looks like...

Overall pretty cool! The art was fantastic, and the overall vibes were very spooky and whimsy. The plot was a bit confusing at points as it moved very quickly. But I did have fun and enjoyed reading the story! This would definitely read amazing as a physical copy.

Any book about Halloween will reel me in like a fish on the line. In Confetti Realms, a group of teens decide to conjure up some fun... and ghosts on Halloween night. Things don't go as planned (I mean.. conjuring on Halloween?! We can't be too surprised!). They end up in the Niblo mausalem which is terrifying. They picked every scary thing you could think of, mixed it all together and made one horrific masterpiece.

The teens end up making wishes that lead them on an adventure whether they "decline the call to adventure", or not. I will forever be haunted by the puppet in that crypt.

Artwork is vivid and the illustrator(s) paid attention to all of the tiny details (I really liked the "struggle" and "snuggle" jelly packages).

Promotes inclusivity with diverse LGBTQIA+ characters - personalities, ethnicities, etc. The book touches on tough topics in an positive manner. There's helpful resources in the last few pages. I really liked the the author's sense of humor that is clearly displayed throughout. The ending was a bit too open-ended for me, but we don't always get what we want.

This was a really fun read! It gives off a dark Coco (Disney) vibe. Now I just need an editor to put my review in order!

Thank you NetGalley and Mad Cave Studios for providing an advanced reader copy of the book for an honest review. Any quote(s) used in my review have been uncorrected.

Sometimes, you go into a book thinking you KNOW what it's about.

I knew that this was Halloween and a portal fantasy and as such, I knew that I was going to read it. What I didn't expect was a love letter to the queer community.

The art style in this was spectacular, atmospheric, and the fun kind of weird that transported me back to the days of reading Goosebumps books I checked out from the library - I need to say that.

But the discussions of accepting and loving yourself, not feeling like you fit in, identity, and dealing with trauma an anger? Amazing. Incredible.

Five freaking stars.

Did I have a single clue what was happening throughout this entire graphic novel?? No. Did I still have a great time?? Yes!

This book was absolutely wild and out there, but it had me laughing the whole time and it also had some really great mental health rep.

I do wish the ending had a bit better of a wrap-up, but overall this was a really enjoyable read!

This book is about a group of teenagers, who on Halloween night decide to visit a graveyard to make contact with ghosts. They get a lot more than they bargained for when they are teleported to another dimension, “Confetti Realms”. Adventure ensues as they try to work themselves back into their own world.
This graphic novel was a quick and fun read. The artwork was truly magnificent, and I loved every single character (especially the catboy Oliver). While the main story is about working towards going home (or not), it also deals with LGBTQ issues, gender, grief and friendship. The ending felt a little abrupt, but other than that I don’t have a lot of critiques.
This graphic novel is great for teens and up looking for some good halloweeny fun.
Big thanks to NetGalley, Mad Cave Studios and the author Nadia Shammas for allowing me to read the EARC.

An honest opinion. This wasn't my type of read But the graphics were awesome! Some of the best I've seen. The story is of four teens who enter a cemetery, after breaking in, and get transported to another world. There they meet Tom, an automaton who sends they on a journey. The interaction between characters was good. I didn't like the gay parts but that's my option. If that doesn't matter then it's A good read. Thanks#Netgalley and #Madcavestudios for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine q

I didn’t know the author at all and requested this on a whim because I love reading new queer graphic novels!

First of all, the art style was GORGEOUS!!!!

The story follows 4 teenagers having to go on a type of quest for a creepy puppet guy. This aspect really reminded me of video games where one character asks you to do one big thing to be allow to go home and while trying to collect the items you get sent on small side quests by those you meet along the way.

I think it will resonate most with teens or young adults. I admit I got a bit confused / overwhelmed at times without being able to explain why. It can be a bit creepy but overall I love the diversity of the realm with the animals…

I’m so glad this got accepted before Pride ended! I absolutely loved it! One of the cutest and most well done graphic novels I’ve read in a long time. My favorite character was Garrett because I love a good himbo. He was also so sweet and cute. I just wanted to give him a hug the whole time.

The Confetti Realms is a place I want to live in. It was such a cute and cozy little place. The subtle creepiness would be something I’d need to get used to, however. Underneath it all, it had a great message about forgiveness and keeping those you love close. Sometimes you have lose yourself to find yourself.

Highly recommend all of this if you’re a fan of quick read graphic novels, queer romances, & friends forgiving each other and fixing their messes. I’ll be looking out for more from this artist.

Confetti Realms is a graphic novel about four teens being whisked away to a fantasy realm on Halloween. It wears its obvious affection for Over the Garden Wall on its sleeve with a similar melancholic, autumnal atmosphere and method of using a strange otherworld to explore real-life problems. Each character has their own struggles explored as the adventure progresses. The art style is lovely and expressive, with beautiful designs for the humans and non-humans alike.
A delightfully eerie and otherworldly adventure.
