Thank you NetGalley for the review copy!
To say I am confused would be an understatement. I really liked the art style but there is so much drama and so many plotholes. It sadly didnt work for me.
But others might find a great spooky read with this graphic novel.

Thanks to Netgalley for giving me an ARC for Confetti Realms.
A group of teens are transported to a new realm on Halloween night after making a wish in a graveyard. To find their way home they must journey through Confetti Realms overcoming many obstacles to collect teeth to pay the puppet that brought them to this dimension.
I absolutely loved this graphic novel. It was beautifully drawn and I would have liked to have been in this world. It reminds me so much of Spirited Away with the tasks that the teens have to do get home and the world itself. And like with Spirited Away the teens have to go on a journey to discover what they want from the world.
The characters are each unique and feel real. Radwa has so much guilt and self-loathing from a past mistake, Marissa has so much on her shoulders taking care of a sick parent, Ty doesn't want to be held back by their feelings, and Garrett is a big cinnamon roll perceived as a tough guy. Each of them has a baggage that just makes them feel like I could see them walking down my street.
The art style is gorgeous as well. The cover is what drew me in at first without even reading the description. The world is drawn with so much life that I want to enter the pages. I very much look forward to more from this artist.
I recommend this to anyone who likes the charm of Ghibli films. This is 5 out of 5 stars for me.

What a TRIP. The Confetti Dreams world was so strange, I would love to see a second book to this expanding on the world. Didn’t care as much for the human characters but absolutely loved the animal ones, so unique. Want to know more about them.

3.5 ⭐️ rounded up to 4! This was a really fun, disturbing, and quirky Halloween read. I can honestly say I have never read anything like this before. The combination of the unique alternate world of anthropomorphic insects/animals, steampunk, and diverse cast, is not something I’ve ever encountered in one package. And surprisingly it all worked well together! The book does a good job of representing anxiety, LGBTQ relationships, and different racial backgrounds. The group’s dynamic reminded me a lot of the early 2000s scooby doo movies. Especially in the beginning scene at the Diner and the quest the group goes on. If I had to pitch this book it would be a more adult “Over the Garden Wall.” I wish we could’ve spent more time in this world and the story was longer. I’m knocking off a star because the ending seemed very abrupt. It wasn’t even like it was a cliffhanger ending. The story just stopped and we didn’t get to see what became of our characters. Still it was such a fun read and very memorable. Also definitely the strangest graphic novel I’ve ever read!

The artwork is absolutely beautiful but the story just isn’t it.
these kids just land in this weird world full of talking animals and birds with human heads… They get sent on a quest for teeth… Teeth? two of them seem to be a couple, but still not happy about it? The other two are fighting and we don’t know why… nothing gets explained and I’m so confused

I liked the set up and description of the comic, and it has funny and heartfelt moments, but overall it didn't seem to go anywhere and was very confusing.

Weird and slightly creepy, this graphic novel followed four teens into a strange realm peopled by animals instead of humans. It was a lot like Over the Garden Wall. Each teen had drama of some kind they had to sort out, within themselves and with each other. I did not like two of the characters. I enjoyed the art style, but the execution was slightly lacking. The ending also was kind of abrupt.

The premise is very interesting as it presents you with a story about teens that get sent to a different realm during Halloween, there is a slight friction among a couple of members within the group and you see their relationships develop. However, I consider the tone of the story to shift a lot through the pages but it's not particularly a bad thing I just wasn't expecting it.
The artstyle attracted me and kept me reading, the color palette is wonderful, the characters look good, feel unique and are easy to identify, and the world building is well done through the backgrounds.
Dialogues were never overwhelming and in my opinion they flowed nicely.
I thoroughly enjoyed the heart to heart moments even when some of them parted from miscommunication, I appreciate the resource pages included at the end.
And overall is a good story to read and be transported to another realm.

DNF (at least for now) at 25%
- writing felt stiff
- dialogue felt too “trying to be young” for me personally
- I don’t love the automaton coralline vibes tbh

This alternate-universe Halloween fantasy is a great read for young adults finding their own identities and learning how to cope with the struggles in their lives. Each of the four main characters carries their own emotional burden and baggage that the quest they have to complete in the titular Confetti Realm helps them to come to terms with. The art is creative and suits the story perfectly.

Thank you, Mad Cave Studios, Maverick and NetGalley, for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Confetti Realms is perfect for those who have enjoyed show Over the Garden Wall and are looking for similar vibes and settings. Here we follow five teenagers and their mischief on a Halloween night, when they accidentally shift to another realm. In order to get back, they need to bring teeth to a mysterious man or make the choice to abandon their current lives. Throughout their journey to get back, they also have to overcome obstacles in their own friendships and themselves as individuals. Its stunning art makes the atmosphere even more welcoming and makes you fall in love with the story. I would recommend waiting for a spooky season for full enjoyment.

If you have ever watched a spooky or Halloween themed DCOM then there is a high percentage that you will enjoy Confetti Realms.

Please keep in mind before reading, the audience is teenagers and therefore the characters act and talk like teenagers. The plot moved quickly + flawlessly, the artwork was beautiful, and there was a great cast of characters.

This graphic novel had a diverse cast of characters which was excellent and nice to see in something designed for teens. The artwork was beautiful -- I quite enjoyed that.
However, I found the plot a bit messy and almost all the characters to be extremely overdramatic, unlikable, and just plain irritating. I understand they are teenagers but the unnecessary drama and heavy use of the miscommunication trope was a bit too over-the-top for me. I'm generally much more forgiving regarding moodiness and drama when it comes to teen characters but this just felt like teens written by someone who doesn't understand teens.
This, however, is just one person's opinion, and while it didn't work for me that doesn't mean it won't work for others. As I said, the art is beautiful.

This graphic novel follows four teens whom are transported to the Confetti Realms on Halloween night while trying to summon a ghost. They must work together if they want to make it back home. Beautifully creepy illustrations bring the realm to life and tackle topics of grief, relationships, growing up, and expectations.

Confetti Realms had everything to be an amazing graphic novel, but it lacked a little for the speed of the story. While the artwork is very beautiful and looks like it was well thought out, the story happens so fast and so many things are thrown at the same time, that I couldn't get attached to anything. Very sad unfortunately. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an arc in exchange for an honest review!

3.5 stars rounded down
During the first few pages of this graphic novel, I was a bit hesitant. There was a lot of internet slang used in the characters’ conversations, which while not necessarily a BAD thing, isn’t something I like in books as I feel it tends to date them. I was worried I’d find the dialogue throughout the whole book cringey, but thankfully, I was wrong.
While I did find SOME things a bit cringey, I had to remind myself that these characters are teenagers and teens are the audience for this story, and overall I think I would’ve been obsessed with this when I was younger.
I thought this story was going to be spookier than it was since it was set on Halloween night, but it’s whimsical and odd instead, which isn’t a bad thing. It reminded me of Over the Garden Wall, Adventure Time, and Gravity Falls, all of which I loved growing up. The art style was perfect for this kind of story, and I could easily picture it as a cartoon. The Confetti Realms are filled with unique and interesting characters with beautiful designs and I’d love to further explore this world.
The reason I’m giving this a 3-star rating instead of 4 is because I didn’t love any of our four main characters (I was much more interested in the strange beings they met on their journey) and because the ending felt rushed. I didn’t understand the reason they had to collect the teeth. I imagine it had to do with their wishes, as is kind of hinted at in the book, but none of my questions were answered. There is a way to leave things open ended while still providing a satisfying conclusion, and unfortunately this book didn’t provide that. That being said, if this ends up being a series or even having one sequel, I would be interested in reading on.

Thank you NetGalley/publishers for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
Confetti Realm is about four teenagers who are looking to have fun, like summoning a ghost or holding a seance because it's Halloween night. They get transported to a different realm and must find a way back home.
Let me start off by saying that the art style was amazing. That is the first thing that attracted me to this book. Although I can't say the same for the storyline because it felt slow in some places and rushed in the other. I also found the characters very unlikable. I couldn't connect with the story which bored me at times. I can see what the author was trying to do but the execution wasn't great.

This book has themes on friendship, self doubt, grief, changing one's life. The story has many characters and family types that leave you wanting more. The art is absolutely fantastic. It draws you into the realm and lives of the friends. Over the course of Halloween Night they each have to make decisions on how to spend the rest of their lives. The ending leaves you unsure of a sequel, but one would be welcome.

I picked up this graphic novel on NetGalley while looking for some lgbtqia+ comics to binge read. Absolutely do not regret it. This book had gorgeous art, a lush fantasy setting, characters that are easy to love, and humor that is exactly my type. From a demented looking automatic, to a stabby frog, fish-hungry dancers, an overenthusiastic cat-boy in a raincoat... the designs are delightful and ridiculous. Our main characters, too, are diverse and complicated.
The frank discussions of relationships, queerness, mental health, etc amid the absurd setting are refreshing and always welcome-- especially in YA media of any type. This book fits into the genre I'm always searching for: books I'd give to my past self. Little me would've devoured this and made it their whole personality. ... Still might.
If you're a fan of Over the Garden Wall, check this one out for sure! It'll def be a fall classic.
