Thanks to netgalley for providing me an arc for this book in exchange for my honest review. Confetti realms is a graphic novel following 4 teenagers during a halloween night where they get sucked into the confetti realms.

I really enjoyed this book, it was a short and heartwarming read and the art in the book was really cute and beautiful. I loved the concept that the confetti realm had and how the author went about unfolding the story, it didn’t feel overwhelming

What I liked the most about this books was the interactions between the characters and how they grow through out the book and learning to accept things about themselves and being honest about their feelings. It definitely had more depth that I expected from the book and it was a very nice surprise. I also loved what happens at confetti realms and I wish we could see more of this world. I’m not sure if this book is going to get a sequel but it would be a pleasure to continue these characters story and see more of the confetti realm.

The first few pages were weird, and a little stilted when it came to tje conversations, with the tension between two characters you can't really suss out, except they're both really uncomfortable, and unfortunately I never got a chance to become a fan of any our the four characters before they were thrust into a strange adventure where they have to hunt down some teeth.

Some of the humor had me cracking, (like using a salt shaker to threaten a frog). And the further I read, the more I liked the characters and their different personalities. There was also some gems of mental health, that shaped some of the characters, and I liked that representation.

Also, there's a ballet bear. My life is complete.

There's a lot of character exploration later on that I really liked, and it made the start a little easier for me to swallow and forgive.

And if you the miscommunication trope, then oh boy, this ride is definitely for you.

I want to start by saying that I loved the art style of Confetti Realms. However, I was not a fan of the actual story.

Confetti Realms starts in a diner. Four teenagers decided to go to a graveyard to see if ghosts like 40s, the alcoholic beverage. (I was kind of confused about that part. I think I missed the joke.) They then stumble upon a puppet and are sucked into a different realm. So, to get out of the Realm they have to collect teeth for the puppet.

I was not a fan of the teenage dialogue. Some of the dialogue seemed forced, and the jokes were not landing with me. I also felt that some things were said in the story for shock value and did not add value to the story. I will say that from the middle to the end of Confetti Realms the story did get a lot better.

I give Confetti Realms 2 stars. However, I would like to see more from the author because I did like the ending.
Thanks, NetGalley and Mad Cave Studios, Maverick for providing this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

This sounded right up my alley, but unfortunately, I didn't love it. There was too much seemingly needless interpersonal drama for me, and I wasn't happy with the ending. If this turns out to be a series, I could understand the ending more.

I ended up giving this 2.75 ⭐️ rounded up. I would still be interested in other work from this author in the future, since this had potential.

First of all, I would like to thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Confetti Realms is a story about four teens that decide to go to a graveyard on Halloween night for some mischief. But when they are sucked into a different dimension, the Confetti Realms, they are forced to face things they have been trying to hide or avoid. Will they go back to their normal dimension, or do they decide to stay in the fantasy dimension, where the consequences of their normal lives can't come for them?

I absolutely loved this graphic novel! I read it in one sitting, about an hour to be exact. The story is very inclusive and touches on some major current events happening in the LGBTQ+ community. The art in this book is absolutely adorable and I love the Confetti Realms characters and how they were portrayed.
The characters go through a little growth, as can be expected in a graphic novel of under 200 pages, but in those pages I got kind of attached to them and their silly quirks.

I would really recommend this graphic novel to anyone who likes inclusive fantasy graphic novels!

This was an absolutely delightful graphic novel. Gorgeous art style, an incredibly creative and twisty realm, and some deep emotions to parse through, Confetti Realms was a marvel.

Set on the night of Halloween, four friends take a trip to the graveyard and wind up being pulled into the confetti realm by Tom, an Automaton, who needs them to collect five molars for him to gain admission to the party at the end of the world. Equipped with a map and a list of people who owe Tom teeth, the four teens set off in the Confetti Realms.

The art was really stunning in this graphic novel. I couldn't help but stare at several pages in the book. The world is inhabited by a variety of sentient creatures and is so creative and fun. And the book is funny! There were several moments of laugh out loud humour. The book also has very solid queer representation and tackles some intense and emotional issues in its 200 pages - like depression, cancer and relationships.

I think this graphic novel is going to be the perfect Halloween read for 2023.

Lovely art and an intriguing premise. The last bit seemed a bit choppy and the end abrupt, but overall a nice tale of acceptance (of yourself, as well as others).

C0nfetii Realms is a short graphic novel about four teens who get transported to another realm on a Halloween night. To return home they must collect teeth, but as they delve deeper into the world, they are more and more attracted to the idea of staying in a fantasy land than going back to their lives in their own realm.

The premise of this story seemed very intriguing, but I must confess the execution disappointed me. The plot was messy and rushed at times. While I really loved such a diverse cast, I found the characters annoying and unlikable (except Ty). There was so much unnecessary drama caused by lack of communication.
On the other hand, I found the art style and illustrations gorgeous! The use of colors really added to the story.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review!

Ok but like… do they ever get home?

Really cool art. Touches on grief and anxiety and panic attacks. I would’ve liked to know more about the “transformation” and why Tom actually needed the teeth.

I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Confetti Realms

Cozy Halloween/ LGBT Read For Comic Lovers

Reminds Me Of:
Adventure Time.
Dead End Paranormal Park.
Scott Pilgrim

Rating Prediction After Reading First ten pages: 4.5 or 5
Actual rating after reading everything: 5!!!

Comic takes place in New Jersey during Halloween.

Four friends decide go drinking and summon a ghost in the cemetery. They are separated when cops show up. They end up finding each other at an old mausoleum. There, an automaton that looks like a circus ring leader asks the group to kiss a candle and their wishes will be granted. Soon after everyone ask for their wishes, the automaton sucks them in to the Confetti Realms. In order to return back to their realm, they are given a map and given a quest to find four molars for the Automaton. But as their quest progresses, all four friends debate staying in the Confetti Realms and forgetting their stressful lives… or return and face their grim realities. Do they escape their problems? Or stay behind and transform in to different creatures?

Overall Comments/Thoughts:
The entire comic is in color!!!!!!!!

Fun ride. It is definitely a cozy Halloween/lgbt read. This was a 5/5 read. I wish I could spend more time in the Confetti Realm. The ending left me soft and fuzzy inside. I think this falls more under the category of LGBT New Adult Fiction. The drawings and outlandishness of the story reminded me of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

The art work is awesome. The animals in human outfits are funny. I love the diversity of having two lesbians and a non-binary character especially since they were people of color. Cool concept for a comic. I’m excited to read more comics and books from author. It talks about how sometimes dealing with your problems makes you feel like you don’t know anything, it makes you feel like you’re going in circles, and that you’re a f*** up. The story talks about how running away from your problems leads you in to similar situations. For example, and this is only an example, if you make rash decisions and you run away from a toxic job or your problems at home, instead of facing the real issues and looking inward to seeing what you actually need and want, you might find yourself facing the same environment in new job or the problems you have will get worse if you don’t deal with them right away. It talks about how decisions should be made with a clear mind and with intent behind them. You don’t need to stay trapped in the same place, but you should make a clear path as to what you want out of life. Sometimes, it’s hard to let go of a lover to improve one self but it must be done. Sometimes, you need to find somewhere new to fit in. Sometimes, a fall-out with a friend was just poor communication on both ends.

Overall, it’s an allegory about how society makes LGBT people and wounded people outcasts because they don’t want to deal with them. So, they have to either escape in ways that are non-conventional or struggle until they find their community/home. Sometimes, taking a leap of faith requires a lot of thought and a lot of faith in your support system.

A fun and adventurous comic set during Halloween. The art is beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed the various designs of the Confetti Realms. The relationships between the characters was interesting and it was entertaining to watch things unfold.

A very fun and delightful adventure to a new realm, perfect for a lightly spooky time in a similar vein to over the garden wall

I really enjoyed the illustrations, the art and the story, it was a fun quick read for me. The ending was a bit rushed in my opinion but still a fun read!

Thanks to Netgalley for this eARC.

Thank you to Netgalley and Maverick for this ARC!

- This book is very weird in a niche internet/upper YA/queer way, and it’s very fun to catch some of the references throughout!
- I enjoyed the characters, but I struggled with the conflicts in the book. So much of it felt like reading the sequel because there was a lot of things not explained early on. While this can work well sometimes, it left me feeling like I couldn’t fully connect to the characters because I didn’t know what was going on until the very end.
- I loved the creativity and the whimsy of the Confetti Realm, and I’d definitely read more in that universe!
- I thought the way the conflicts were solved was really well done!

I enjoyed the illustration design and plot of this graphic novel! It was a fun read for in-between thick novels.

However, I did feel the ending was a bit awkward and slightly rushed. But this did not kill the mood too terribly.

The story is rich with complex and engaging characters thrown into a fanciful, spooky setting. The world is so rich with imagery, you’ll find yourself staring at the pages for a long time trying to soak in all the adorable details. I do think the story tries to fit too many complicated storylines into a short timeframe which can leave the endings feeling unsatisfying, but it did manage to avoid many pitfalls that young adult graphic novels can fall into with over-simplifying complex issues. I’d be happy to see these characters get spin-off mini series focusing on each of their stories because they’re so interesting!

Queer spooky graphic novels are always a vibe. This friend group (self described as "The Gays") represents the complexities of being a queer teen. There are a lot of heavy topics discussed in this story and all the characters seem to have complicated relationships with each other. I do wish there was a bit more of a dive into their relationships, although it leaves space for more on a second volume potentially!

I do feel like Confetti Realms underdelivered on spooky vibes sadly. The first quarter was spooky, the rest not so much.

I absolutely looooove the art style, as well as the author's sense of humor. I laughed quite a bit through this.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc!
