DNF. Way longer than it needed to be. Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for an e-ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
I didn't realize this was a re-release but wow what a love story! So great. I've loved every minute of this book. So special!
When I say that this book made me cry, it really made me CRY. I can see my patrons ABSOLUTELY eating this one up. I will highly recommend this book to any and all patrons that I talk to and will make sure my library has a copy of it for circulation!
I am 100% sure I sobbed all morning after reading this book. I was not prepared for the beauty with in the pages nor was I ready for the emotional rollercoaster I was on.
Callum and Lilah’s story is about discovery! Lilac helped Callum find a part of him he didn’t know existed! Through her carefree love of life she showed him the world he had been missing and he became a sense of security she didn’t know she could have.
This story was so beautiful but it’s also gut wrenching. I wanted to throw the book because of the unfairness of it but then I remembered that some of my most favorite books are those that reach down in and tug at my heart because life isn’t always fair. In the end it was the perfect story and one that will never leave me. I have renewed my souls through the words in this book and tonight when I look at the stars it will be though a new lense!
This is definitely a book you have to be in the mood given the heavy of parts of it. Overall I liked the story but I was not completely in the right frame of mind for where this book went.
Me Without You, by Kelly Rimmer, is a novel about love, loss, and living. It is about making the most of every day. When Callum spots a woman with dirty feet, he has no idea the path she's been on, nor where those feet will take her; but he finds himself drawn to find out. Thanks, NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC ebook for me to review.
I loved this book, it made me laugh and cry and laugh again. It’s beautiful I highly recommend it. You’ll be enchanted by this beautiful story.
Me without you by Kelly Rimmer published by forever(grand central publishing)
What a great story, thank you NetGalley.
I had the pleasure of reading this one in exchange for a honest review. When I requested the book I had t realized it was already published so I was a little leary reading it but am I so glad i did.
This story touched on a lot of subjects but the most important is the blooming relationship between lilac and cullum. This book had me yearning for more even after the last page.
Trust me when I say this have some tissues handy because you will need them.
I’d love to see a sequel to continue this story. Or maybe I better check, you never know there may be one out already considering the date of publish was 2014.
What? So if I had one complaint it would be why put this back out on NetGalley without the explanation it may available for purchase eliminating the middle man. Great book, definitely won’t be a last this author. Off to look for more books as we speak. I need to read more from this author asap! Thanks again NG!!
Thank you to the publisher for giving me the chance to read a digital copy of Me Without You by Kelly Rimmer. I have read a handful of Kelly Rimmer's other books, and I have really enjoyed them. It appears that this one actually came out back in 2014 and is being republished with a brand new cover. I can tell this is one of Rimmer's earlier books because I feel like the writing is a bit more amateur than what I am used to when it comes to her books. The main characters are Lilah and Callum who have a random meet cute and are completely drawn together. We know from the beginning that Lilah is on limited time, but we don't know why. This book kind of reminded me of Abby Jimenez's Life's Too Short. A majority of Me Without You felt kind of repetitive in a way, like Lilah and Callum would spend an amazing time together, Lilah would have doubts, try to break it off, fail to, and repeat. It wasn't until they went to her house for Christmas and when it was revealed what was going on with Lilah that it really started to get good, which was like 65% into the story. I wish we would have seen more of the progression of the disease and how it affected Lilah and Callum's relationship than we did. The last part of the story felt rushed and abrupt, and I think it would have been better if it had been fleshed out a bit more. Also, Lilah not telling Callum what was really going on with her was driving me crazy. I am a major believer in communication, and the fact that she held something so important from him drove me crazy, instead choosing to just become cold and distant. At times this made her come across as an immature teenager rather than a mature woman the rest of the story tried to portray her as. Also, it was mentioned A LOT that Lilah wasn't a fan of shoes. Okay, we get it, let's move on. Overall I gave this one 3.5 out of 5 stars, rounded up to 4 on Goodreads. It's probably my least favorite book by Rimmer that I have read, but it was okay.
A lovely yet tragic love story. The characters were flawed yet perfect…the author captures the human essence so eloquently. This unfolds slowly and each layer to the story dives deeper into the characters. The ending was beautifully done!
What a heartbreaking but gorgeous love story. Grab your tissue box for this one. I'm a mood reader and sometimes the mood calls for a delicious story of two people who find their way together when life is pulling you apart. It's a sob feast but I ate it up.
So, I got this at the recommendation of a friend - and she has yet to steer me wrong.
It is extremely slow-moving, but the story is beautiful. I really loved Callum & Lilah's love story. It was beyond beautiful. I did find Lilah moderately unrelatable, but she grew on me as the story went on.
This is my first Kelly Rimmer book and it reduced me to a puddle of tears by the end.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this one!
I started this book not knowing what to expect and found myself slightly annoyed with Lilah and her rants about environmental law. By the middle of the book, I was hopelessly hooked on Callum and Lilah's love story. Happy tears, sad tears, and the inner evaluation as I read...this is a story that will stay with me for awhile. Read it :P
Me Without You by Kelly Rimmer is a heartfelt novel full of beauty, sadness and love. Although somewhat slow to start, the storyline drew me in. The main characters Callum and Lilah were well developed and written with depth. I really enjoyed this novel and left with a reminder to live, love and find joy in every day.
I love love love this book !!!! Highly recommend anything by Kelly Rimmer 😍 she able to create characters that are though provoking and relatable , along with an engaging storyline .
This is an emotional, heart wrenching read that is guaranteed to leave you in a puddle of tears. Now please be warned this is not a romance but rather women's fiction. This is beautifully written and unfolds at a perfect pace. I loved all the angst and pining that went on between the two characters as well. It is a powerful novel about a truly horrible disease that will make you want to hold your loved ones close!
I did not realize that this was a republished book from 2014. I did read this book when originally published, and it was not my favorite at the time. Rimmer's writing has evolved a lot since that time.
I didn't realize I had read this book years ago. I loved this book. The love story between Callum and Lilah is amazing. I received an advanced readers copy and all opinions are my own.
I’m sitting here, completely overwhelmed by emotions, upon finishing this book. I don’t think I’ve ever read the last five chapters of a book so slowly, because I wanted to live every feeling that Callum and Lilah felt. I craved those emotions, and felt I wasn’t doing their story justice by reading without truly understanding. This is a remarkably beautiful book about love—the kind of love that changes you forever, the kind of love that is joyous and painful, the kind of love that is all-consuming. Callum and Lilah are quite extraordinary characters who are so different from each other, but who filled the spaces of each other’s hearts with possibilities, hope, and devotion—and I won’t ever forget them.
Thank you @readforeverpub @netgalley for a copy of this book. I have read a few of Kelly Rimmer's historical fiction books and have always loved them. This is my first book of hers that is in a contemporary setting. This book is about the love story of Callum and Lilah. I love that they are an older couple and both not wanting to be tied down but so attracted to each other. Their journey is beautiful and heartbreaking. You knew there was a big twist and it gutted me. I appreciate how this book took a bad situation and made it so beautiful. I enjoyed the dual narration and seeing both their POV.
