From lust, to conflicting life goals, to misunderstandings, to budding love, and lasting friendships- this books has it all.
It is a beautiful romance with lots of emotions from start to end.
I couldn't really get into this book, sadly. The characters just didn't connect for me and the story didn't flow. I felt there was too much miscommunication and angst - waiting and thinking about what the other was thinking or purposely avoiding the other. Just wasn't a satisfying read for me. It was okay, but nothing I would recommend.
This was set up to be everything I wanted it to be. Spice, rivals to lovers, insta-attraction, little bit of tension.
This was ok, I'm a little disappointed because at no point did I ever really start to love the characters? I just couldn't get attached to them and I'm not sure why. This is an easy read and one that is a great cleanser from some heavier stuff. I'm sure if you're a lover of Ali Hazelwood and the women in STEM plots- this will be more successful of a read for you.
It's definitely got the spice, though I found the FMC to be constantly on about the attraction took me out from the more personal and vulnerable moments, but overall a good read to break up some of the darker things Ive been reading lately
"To Be Continued" by Grace Woods promises an intriguing exploration of love and desire between two individuals from vastly different worlds, set against the backdrop of contemporary issues like environmental activism and corporate power. This novel seems to delve into the complexities of human relationships, blurring the lines between fantasy and reality, and challenging the protagonist, Ashley Barris, to make difficult choices.
The contrast between the vice-president of an international oil company and an environmental activist adds depth to the story, highlighting the potential conflicts and tensions that arise when personal desires clash with moral and ethical values. This tension promises to create a thought-provoking and emotionally charged narrative.
The notion of an "erotic, edgy world of their own" and the idea of losing track of what is real suggests a passionate and intense love story that will likely captivate readers who enjoy steamy and emotionally charged romances.
The book's description also hints at a sense of ambiguity, where truth and fantasy intertwine, inviting readers to ponder the blurred lines between right and wrong, love and duty. This moral ambiguity could add depth to the characters and their journey throughout the trilogy.
Overall, "To Be Continued" appears to be a compelling read for mature audiences, offering an exploration of love, desire, and the complexities of human nature against the backdrop of contemporary societal issues. It seems like a promising start to a trilogy that will likely leave readers eagerly anticipating the next installment.
I did enjoy the book and I do have high hopes for the other books in the series. I did like the main character and the story that was being told
This book was a good read. The MCs, Ashley and Luke, were nicely developed. There was some definite spice. Overall it wasn’t something I would re-read but I enjoyed reading it once.
Ashley and Luke, HOT! After reading the first book of this series I feel like I know them so well. Their relationship leaves you breathless. Grace Woods’ narrative brings it all to life and the chemistry between the two is amazing. A great read, can’t wait for the next in the series.
If you are looking for a spicy read, this book is for you.
Ashley is a science teacher/ environmental advocate. Luke is an oil heir. They are an unlikely couple given their professions/ beliefs, but for some reason they are drawn to each other. Their relationship lacked development and foundation. It left me questioning so many things.
I gave this book 2.5 stars (rounded up) because the plot was all over the place. The spicy scenes often come out of nowhere with no context and the actual meat of the story bounced around without actually coming full circle.
There were a lot of inconsistencies with the book as well, Ashley cares about the environment and campaigns about certain things, but not others. Taking a private jet on a girls weekend? No problem. Driving in a gas guzzler truck.. big problem.
I did not like the random French and Spanish thrown in. It didn't add to the story and it did not make sense for Luke to be speaking French.
At least Luke and Ashley were cute and I did root for them
Ooh this was a good one. Captivating and spicy, I loved the energy between the characters. Ashley was a little over the top with her political views at times but I appreciated the balance that Luke brought to complicated issues. I'm looking forward to more in this series!
3.5/5 (rounded up to 4)

I would like to thank NetGalley and Purple Ink, LLC, for providing me with a free e-ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Ashley Barris and Luke Dalton couldn’t be any more different from each other. Ashley is a public school teacher and prominent environmental activist. Luke Dalton is the heir to a multi-billion dollar oil company. When chance brings them together over the course of several months, Ashley and Luke develop an undeniable chemistry amidst what they could be together.
To Be Continued isn’t the type of book I usually go towards nor is it the book I was expecting when I got it on NetGalley, but I felt Woods’ does a solid job with this debut.
From their first meeting in the bookstore (which I loved as the meet-cute for this book), you can tell how much of a connection ignites between Ashley and Luke. Each of their encounters had some pretty great dynamics and it makes you want to root for them to get together. Additionally, I felt that Woods did a good job with creating complex character structures for Ashley and Luke (which I imagine is no such small feat) and playing out how each of them address their own traumas as a result of them knowing each other.
Now, I wouldn’t recommend this book for every single reader out there for various reasons. One, there’s a lot of spice in this book, which I’m personally not a fan of and wouldn’t be the best choice if you don’t like spice that much either. While I do list the closed door modifications for To Be Continued, you can see that it’s a lot to go skip through. Another thing that I didn’t notice about Woods’ writing style until the last 20% of the book was that there were numerous cases of jumpy/scenes with a not so smooth transition between them. I feel like a way to improve on it in future books would be to either try to make a smoother transition between combining scenes together or get rid of unnecessary ones that lead to the choppiness that occurs in the last 20% of To Be Continued.
That being said, if you’re the type of reader looking for a dark, opposites-attract romance with flawed, complex characters and an instant attraction, you might enjoy reading To Be Continued.
This is not only a romance, but also a method of expressing the author’s views on environmentalism and other topics. This occurs thoroughly and repetitively! I wouldn’t mind it being mentioned now and then, but we are talking multiple pages on a regular basis. It was very distracting from the brewing love story that could have been great to read.
As someone who prefers enemies to lovers tropes with opposing personas, this narrative was definitely one to entice my attention. I was not entirely sure of the authenticity and level of the writing at first because I was unfamiliar with the author, but I ended up finishing it up in a couple days. This novel is sure to draw the romantics and those who prefer some maturity in their readings. Thank you netgalley and the publishing company for giving me an early read on this novel!
Caution: This book is an incomplete story and you will need to acquire sequels to finish the story.
The story is about Leslie Barris, an environmental activist teacher, who runs into handsome Luke Dalton, an oil company billionaire, in a bookstore. Both are unaware of the others situation and philosophical leanings.. You can guess the core of the story from there. I found the story predictable with very little character development but maybe that is coming in future sequels. What I did not enjoy were the inserted sexual fantasies. It felt like this was the authors way to spice the story without adding plot substance. I found the story in this episode a little slow and disjointed but maybe it’s a function of the book not being the full story.
I want to thank the publisher and NetGalley for the preliminary copy to read in exchange for an honest review.
To Be Continued is a slow paced billionaire drama romance, featuring Ashley, a science teacher passionate about educating and saving the planet, and Luke, an oil tycoon.
This novel was a bit all over the place for me, it was a slow read and felt disjointed - with plot drivers seemingly forgotten, with only throwaway mentions keeping them relevant - there wasn't much major impact on the story or the characters. By the end I felt a bit awkward and exhausted.
Thanks to the duo that is Grace Woods for the ARC. The book starts out with an environmental activist teacher who through her visit to the library and subsequent trip with a book club meets a fantastic man only to find out he is the VP of an oil company. Their interactions in and out of the bedroom make for a fantastic read. Definitely rated for adult audiences but very tasteful.
If you’re into Romance with a bit of spice, this book is for you! Enjoy an interesting complex story with your spice. Real life events, life convictions and life traumas will keep you reading to find out how these two individuals can work out how to be together.
Ashley Barris is from a hard working family, which sets her hard working life as a science teacher and entrepreneur.
As the vice president of an oil company Luke has many secrets. Even as a handsome intelligent man he has issues to get through.
Ashley and Luke have a strong attraction to each other, but can they work out their enormous differences?
Ashley finds an attractive man at the bookstore and she can’t stop thinking about how to stop the attraction from continuing. He then turns up when she’s on a girls trip. They slowly get to know each other more and they both are wounded from prior experiences. The story is engaging as a romance but there is an unbelievable plot as Ashley's zealous environmentalist views come and go, resulting in a disappointing cliffhanger. The ending felt rushed and it would have been better if there had been more resolution but the story was good up until that point.
OMGSH I have never been so torn up over a book!! I finished this story in one day! Grace Woods did an excellent job with the emotional aspects of the story. Ashley and Luke are polar opposites with shambles from their past. Ashley’s a science teacher who LOVES helping the Earth and Luke is a dynasty from an oil company who loves “drilling” in more ways than one! 😜 The two see eye to eye on almost nothing and yet have such good chemistry that it’s hard for them to stay away from each other! If you love puns, banter, and spice as well as some heart wrenching, emotional, swoony content you will LOVE this book! VERY impatiently waiting for the two sequels.
To Be continued is book one in the To Be continued trilogy. We’ll be reading the next in the series because now we’re committed to this story’s relationship, but are they?
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of the book.
Thank you for the copy of this book. I couldn’t put it down and was rooting for the couple. Ended in a right cliffhanger but I am on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what happens next!!
A captivating love story between an oil company heir and an environmental activist teacher. When Ashley and Luke meet in a bookshop they have an instant connection. Ashley doesn’t want to act on it, but fate has other plans so the meet again on a ski trip. They fall in love with each other, but there are things that complicate their relationship. They come from different backgrounds with different views on environmental issues and they are both affected by their past traumas. Both Ashley and Luke are unique characters. Ashley is shaped by her past experiences like living in a poor neighborhood, running away from home but having a support of encouraging people and a helping community. Luke experienced such a horrible trauma in his childhood that it still affects his life yet he has his heart in a good place. Their bond is strong, but there is still a lot needed to be done to stay that way. The spicy scenes were different a bit from what I usually read, but they were still good. I’m glad they incorporated trust and comfort in them the way they did. I can’t wait to read what happens next in the upcoming books of the series.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of the book.
This is a contemporary fiction with an interesting blend of different elements in it. The book focuses on the lead characters, he is the vice-president of an international oil company and she was an environmental activist. Both the characters are contrasting to eachother yet they are entangled into eachother's life. The author has written down the an very interesting enemies-to-lovers spicy romance with amazing set of side characters and scenarios involved in it. The narration of the book is so smooth and easy that the readers are able to enjoy the spirit of the book. Each character shines throughout the book as the author has well potraited each and every character. The book is being layered nicely with the situation and incidents that were quite interesting to read. The characters in the plot kept me hooked till the end. Each has been given sufficient scope to contribute to the plot. The language used is lucid.
This is the book oen in the trilogy.
