Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this book as much as I had hoped I would.
I thought it seemed as if the plot dragged out a bit long because the authors felt the need to come up with additional reasons to keep them from getting together or being happy. Additionally, while I appreciate the authors' attempts to provide fully-fleshed out characters and real-world problems, sometimes those issues got a little too "preachy" for me.
The actual writing and story structure was good - just a bit overwrought in my opinion.
I could nottttt put this book down!! Absolutely loved it from start to finish BUT the cliffhanger will have me begging Grace Woods for the second book because COME ONNNN!!! Anyways, aside by being left wondering, the character development was beautifully executed! Steamy and predictable love story but it was done so beautifully that I really enjoyed reading it.
An interesting story that captures the torn mentality of a environmental activist who seems almost too willing to compromise her otherwise strong ideology for passionate sex until it becomes too much. The focus on her journey through sex, activism, and complex past traumas (more than just her own) can sometimes be a little too much of a distraction from the plot, as though the author is trying to find every possible hurdle to throw the characters’ way. It was an interesting read, and the personal conflict we’re left with at the end of the book seems somehow cliche and yet gripping enough to be somewhat interested in the next installment.
Thanks so much Purple Ink LLC and NetGalley.
This is supposed to be a provocative love story. Ashley is teacher and passionate about the environment. Luke is part of a major oil company. He has secrets.
Pretty predictable, and Ashley should take those environmental passions and go with them and not Luke.
Kindle version was a bit hard to read with the breaks ups in the page such as a sentence would be on 2 to 3 different lines with two to free words per line. I also noticed a few spelling errors suck as Thanks was spelled tanks and grandpa was grandfa.
In my option the main character Ashley spent way too much time fantasizing about Luke. It just became to repetitive and boring. Along with the oil company and her passion for a cleaner earth, just felt like it was so repetitive Sadler I ended up skipping over some part because of how much was told about the oil company. Half way through the book and I still was not into the story like I would of hoped. Sad to say I forced myself to finish the book for the few autism’s I had from the first half to see if there was any answers. Such as…
What happened on her mothers couch?
What happened to her dad?
Why is Ashley always counting?
Finishing up the book most of the question I had were answered. Over all it was an okay book, the spicy areas were descriptive enough to pull you into them but after it just let you go and it became not that interesting in my eyes, nothing really there to keep you hooked unless you wanted to know about how Ashly’s passion for saving the earth from the oil man was.
I loved this so much. I wish it did not end and now I guess that means I am definitely going to have to read the next book! SO so good
To Be Continued is a wonderful book. It is smart and witty and well written. I love the way the billionaire was not the typical one. He was thoughtful and compassionate. It was very refreshing. I enjoyed the book truly. I would recommend to my book club. I would not recommend to my students. As they are not old enough to read just yet. But there are multiple literary components that I think can be dissected and talked about. This is great read and I cannot wait to read the other installments. Great Job Grace Woods! I am patiently waiting for the other reads.
I loved this book. Need book two as soon as possible!
Ashley teaches at a high school but has dreams and plans. While she’s divorced and does not want relationship things happen for a reason.
Luke’s family owning the oil company that Ashley clearly hates to set the tone for a lot of things they both have to go through
Ashley runs into him at a bookstore and turns him down but meets him again.
This book was steamy but so good!
What a cliffhanger!😭 I need the second book NOW! I am not okay!
“Do everything as if it were the last thing you were doing in your life”. Yes, yes yes!🔥 Luke got the perfect foreplay down! Now I want a Luke lol “There is nothing, nothing in the world I want more than this connection with you - to begin to live with you”. Okay Luke, marry me now!😂 Out of all my book boyfriends, Luke just tops them all for me.
Wow, that was hot.🌶️ So let get into what the rest of the book was about.
Ashley teaches at a high school but has big dreams and plans for her future. While she’s divorced and not looking for a relationship. Fate clearly has another plans for her.
Luke’s family owning the oil company that Ashley clearly despises set the ton for a lot of things they both had to deal with and go through.
Ashley runs into him at a bookstore and turns him down but surprisingly meets him again. My favorite part from that scene was “Energies that make us act out of anger, fear, insecurity and doubt…are like an old, dark house we return to whenever things get too hard to handle”
Luke pretending to be her boyfriend when she was approached by another guy was a lol moment!
Some of my favorite parts:
• “Ce n’est pas tout ce que je pratique”. I got all warm inside when he said that.
• “Te es à moi” yes to the possessiveness of that line!🔥
• The wooden elephant talk was one of my favorite parts. Luke wanted her to feel comfortable and free to talk to him about her problems with his family’s business.
• I adored Luke’s love for Rena.
• The advice that Ashley’s mom gave to her was so powerful! I felt that in my soul and even for different aspects in my own life.
Using safe words is very important to me and I like how it was mentioned in the book. When you’re trying something new it’s always important that safe words are discussed so nothing is taken the wrong way or something happens that you are not comfortable with or that hurts. Everyone has a different tolerance to pain and pleasure.
So much bad news came crashing down all at once for Ashley. I honestly didn’t know how she was going to come out and handle it all and keep having a positive light.
As you can tell. I’ve loved this book so much! I could not put it down and I’m ready for the second book already. Shoot, I want the whole series!😍
Thank you to NetGalley for the EARC! As always, my review is my opinion and thoughts.
Woods' writing style is engaging and easy to read, with well-crafted dialogue and vivid descriptions of the town and its inhabitants. The characters are likable and relatable, with their own unique quirks and personalities that add depth and complexity to the story.
The romance between love interests is sweet and tender, with just the right amount of tension and conflict to keep the reader engaged. The themes of forgiveness, second chances, and the power of community are woven seamlessly into the plot, making for a satisfying and heartwarming read.
Overall, "To Be Continued" is a delightful and uplifting romance novel that will leave you with a smile on your face. Woods' writing is engaging and heartfelt, and the story is a testament to the power of love and the resilience of the human spirit. Highly recommended for fans of romance and feel-good fiction.
