This started out strong for me then sort of fizzed out. It even made me laugh out loud in the beginning. I feel like the fmc sort of lost that spark from the beginning and it gave me a little bit of womens fiction vibes vs romcom. It wasn’t bad just lost that connection I felt between the two in the beginning.
Hilarious, heart warming and full of spice. I loved both characters so fun and watching them fall in love was just so entertaining!
a sister who you find out doesn’t even want you as a bridesmaid? and her wedding is 80s themed and televised? yeah, that’s enough to make me want to angry bang whatever hot man i run into too…
this was a fun, steamy, no strings attached rom com with lots of dino talk (love a female paleontologist MC!) and great banter!
Anger Bang by Avery Flynn is a lighthearted romcom masterpiece that will give you the feel good butterflies paired with good characters and a good plot.
Our FMC, Thea, is struggling with her Bambi-like reactions when presented with confrontation. Which is something I could relate to, I typically go with the flow to keep everyone happy rather than creating an argument.
In efforts to practice other responses when confronted with an issue, Thea fights back against her bridezilla sister by asking the best man (Kade) if he wants to “anger bang”. This of course leads to quite a few disaster moments as Thea develops her responses to confrontation while also working out her growing feelings for Kade.
Thought it was great how none of the character felt flat or one dimensional. As the book continued, I learned more about their personalities and the conflicts driving their actions.
Overall a very cute romcom that had me grinning over many moments ranging from disastrous to adorable.
i was thoroughly convinced this was an enemies to lovers/enemies with benefits situation at first but this was almost better with how hilarious she propositioned him 😂
i loveddd the Dex & Jackie addition to Kade & Thea’s story 🥹🥹 maybe even more???
it was ✨SPICYYY✨ i mean wow 😳 Kade is a man of many talentsss🫣
“Thea Pope, I don’t ever want to not know you.” 🥹
that epilogue is my reason to live. yes, proposals in epilogues are always romantic af but the WAY he proposed was just so much more adorable than any i’ve read before!
overall, i liked it but just didn’t LOVE it, it didn’t hit for me as much! still made me laugh really hard tho

😆😆😆😆The title! Bahaha! Every time I say it I giggle.
What a fun read! Thea is dragged back into a life she left behind. Her sister is having a Hollywood/reality tv wedding. It’s as awful as Thea thought it would be. Until it gets worse and her sister tells Thea, she didn’t even want her there.
Kade doesn’t want to be apart of this farce. He doesn’t do marriage or love and his brother is about to marry bridezilla—for tv ratings. Why wouldn’t he agree to the temping bridesmaid who has just asked him to help get revenge on the bride?

I will admit that it takes me longer to read a book written in third person. But if it’s well-written, I’ll still read it. Anger Bang was so well done. It took me a few chapters to even realize it wasn’t written in first person. The drama, the secrets, the incredible attraction and all the messed up relationships. And it was hot. The spice was perfect! But I loved the relationship that built too.
Thea and Kade were so much fun. Thank you for making me laugh!
The subtitle says it all - a not romantic comedy. I definitely found the comedy in this book and thought the talk of dinosaurs would bother me but I enjoyed the quirky element it added. A paleontologist and true crime author are both stuck at their siblings obnoxious wedding yet opposites attract. in a not romantic but definitely sexual way. Thea and Kade were likable characters but I didn't find a character that I was head over heels for. Stinking River truly was stinky and the middle of nowhere Wyoming left me wanting a little more from the setting but comical in its own right.
Anger Bang took a bit for me to get into but once it picked up it was a cute story. Thea and Kade each overcame family struggles in their own way while also gaining personal growth.
This had everything!!! Such a unique rom com concept... And the mouth on Kade, yessssss.
I loved every second of this and felt like I could watch this movie snuggles up with wine and snacks.
So good!
From the moment I saw the cover for Anger Bang I had to read it! A dinosaur in a neon pink dress, covered in confetti with THAT title, was a book cover that spoke of great things, and it contained all of the humour and spice that I expected. So what’s it about?
Shy Palaeontologist Thea Pope is determined to get through her bridezilla sister’s reality TV wedding as unobtrusively as possible as it’s way out of her comfort zone. But when her sister insults her one too many times, Thea decides to take revenge by propositioning the groom’s brother Kade St James (who her sister hates) for a no-strings attached night of passion. But as Thea knows the hard way, nothing ever goes quite to plan. Against a backdrop of chaos and cringeworthy activities, Kade and Thea start to reassess their ideas of ‘strings’ whilst battling family drama.

I seriously loved this one. It was as funny as I expected, with real laugh out loud moments thanks to the 80s themed wedding shenanigans, and the level of chaos that seemed to follow Thea around, but it was also sweet, incredibly romantic and had a real depth to the character development.
I adored shy, awkward, dinosaur obsessed Thea and I could 100% relate to her ‘fawn’ (go along to get along) responses to confrontation (as opposed to the other options of fight, flight or freeze). There’s good mental health rep in this novel, and Thea undergoes great character development as she takes on her therapist’s advice to try out the other confrontation responses. The result of this is often hilarious, but it ultimately leads her to Kade and, as the book progresses, Thea starts to take charge of her happiness and push back to the people in her life that aim to control her.
Kade is a real sweetheart. Who doesn’t love a cinnamon roll, motor bike riding guy? He’s perfect for Thea and helps boost her confidence when she needs it most. In turn, Thea helps Kade open up and gives him the support he needs to address his family issues. I loved their geeky, fact-sharing flirting which made way to some seriously delicious spice. I’m a big fan of the he-falls-first trope and Anger Bang plays this out to perfection.
I found myself googling dinosaurs throughout the book as it became apparent that my dino knowledge is severely lacking and I’m a visual learner! Thanks to Thea, I can now keep up with my neighbour’s little boy’s chat!
Anger Bang is a hilarious, hot, and at times heart breaking romance that’s guaranteed to bring a smile to your face and make you swoon!
Anger Bang by Avery Flynn definitely is the rom- com spice with heavy lust that develops into real feelings just like you would expect. However, there is family drama, laughter, and real character growth. Thea is a paleontologist and gets to go on her first dig but she has to get through her sister's wedding. Kade and Thea first meet at the reality tv wedding weekend of his brother and her sister. When circumstances lead Thea to proposition Kade for an “anger bang” they find an unexpected connection with a ton of banter and chemistry.
Anger Bang is the second book I’ve read by Avery Flynn. Her writing style does not disappoint!
In this laugh-out-loud romcom, child star and paleontologist Thea Pope must return home to be the maid of honor in her sister’s wedding. It’s not your typical wedding either. It’s an 80’s themed reality show wedding. Quiet, shy Thea is constantly pushed out of her comfort zone. On one occasion, she meets the man of honor, Kade, who she immediately deems her “fictional catnip”.
This is an unputdownable romcom that’s told through two perspectives. This book had me howling in laughter and indulging in every steamy moment shared between Thea and Kade.
I can’t wait for the next book in this standalone series!
Thank you Valentine PR, Entangled Publishing, and Avery Flynn for a copy of Anger Bang. I thoroughly enjoyed the read along hosted by Entangled Publishing.
Thea Pope kissed like a woman determined to prove the world wrong.
Kade's brother is marrying Thea's sister. Which appears to be a match made in publicity heaven. Unlike their siblings, Kade and Thea have no desire in being the center of attention. But that's hard to do when this whole wedding (and week of activities!) is being filmed for reality tv.
What starts with a happy distraction to just get through this disastrous week becomes so much more than Kade and Thea could have imagined!
Fun characters and fun story!!! I love Avery Flynn's writing style!
This book was so much fun to read! It was about how long-term alcohol abuse affects families, and it was packed with laughs, drama, and 80s-style outfits. Plus it was full of family drama, banter, and fun, and it made me cry and laugh so much!
The character development was excellent, I really liked that not just the main characters had their healing and growth moments, but the groom, bride and moms too. It's a really funny and sweet story. I really enjoyed it - for me, it's the perfect mix of funny, heartbreaking and touching. Highly recommend!
Highly entertaining, laugh out loud, sweetly sexy and action packed adventure filled with lots of family drama with a side of sweetly thrilling personal growth. Really enjoyed this edge of your seat emotional roller-coaster journey packed with witty and engaging charters, heart racing twists and undeniable passion.
Thea, the paleontologist who's sister is getting married as a huge reality TV production wedding from hell (80's theme) asks Kade, a groomsman who happens to be the brother of the bride, to have a weekend anger bang...very loudly, while hooked up to a mic. He of course agrees.
They set ground rules for the anger bang; no personal details about each other and no kissing on the lips. I think Pretty Woman was actually referenced in the dialogue here too.
As things go, these two bang it out OFTEN and eventually start slipping the personal information rule because they are also becoming friends ... for the weekend only.
Shit hits the fan, Thea runs off, and Jackie (the bride) finds her to explain all the reasons she's being a bridezilla from hell.
Grand gesture was great! I was expecting something totally different, but was actually very happy it went in a different direction.
Epilogue was meh, but still funny and cute. But predictable.
The amount of dinosaur jokes and witty banter in this book had me laughing out loud a lot. The cover alone had me wanting to read this, so I applied for the ARC (and got it). The blurb was an added sell. But I was not prepared for the amount of 80s and 90s references that made my heart SING with joy!
Also, the spice was nice.
This was a great unexpected read. I knew this book would be fun and give me a lot of laughs. I mean how could it be anything other than that? This story has the most outrageous Screwball setup since The Philadelphia Story with Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn. Challenged to stop acting as a fawner and making others happy all the time by her therapist, Thea spends her sister’s destination wedding trying out different “F” Solutions to “People Problems” and moves through Fright, Fight, Flight, and ultimately arriving at her own French Kissing as a way of dealing with her feelings. What can go wrong at her sister’s 80’s themed live streamed destination wedding that is literally held in Hell… well Colter’s Hell, Wyoming with its sulfur spewing hot springs. Really, can you think of anything that can go right?
Add to this Kade, a deliciously grumpy best man who sees only the bleakest side of every situation, and who just happens to be not only the Best Man but the Groom’s brother. Who better can Thea find to be her Fight via Anger Bang? Kade likes no one, but in Thea he finds a fellow grump and a person who gets his humor, feels just as out of place as he does, and who he wants to know better. There’s something about these two lost souls that just mesh at first sight, and who have some of the best on-page chemistry that I’ve read.
But, what really sets this book apart and makes this so stand out from so many summer style rom com reads, is that Flynn doesn't just stagnate Anger Bang in a by the book slapstick read that you just close on the last page and then quickly forget as you move on to a new book. She uses a wonderfully astute eye to show what drives people, and beautifully balances description, narration, and dialogue to ensure that the reader always knows what is going on and can empathize with the characters as they confront who they. This is the real heart of this book. Why do we act the way we do around other people? What does it mean to be part of a relationship - with a parent, a sibling, a friend, and even with ourselves? And, ultimately, are we doing what makes us happy?
Anger Bang is a must read for this summer and one that will leave you laughing and thinking -- a wonderful quality for any book. And maybe you’ll leave like Thea, “living in the unplanned moment, newly baptized into the church of spontaneity”!
What, exactly, is an anger bang you may be wondering.
In Thea’s situation it means banging the groom’s brother at her sisters wedding just to piss her off. The guy that her sister explicitly forbade any bridesmaids from banging. Her sister who just told her she wouldn’t have asked Thea to be a bridesmaid if the production on her reality hadn’t forced her. So there’s a lot of frustration to get out and the hot willing brother is the answer. There you have it, an anger bang.
This was a fun easy read. Lots of sexy times that started pretty early in the book. No slow burn here. There was family drama. There were some quirky bits - The wedding was 80s themed. Thea is a paleontologist who geeks out over dinosaurs.
Overall, I enjoyed it as a quick read.

When I saw the description and title I HAD to read this, and yes, it is as funny as you expect.
Thea is a paleontologist who was a child actor and whose sister, Jackie, continues to act. And as a c-list actress looking to advance her career, her wedding is being televised. When Thea learns that Jackie didn't even want Thea to be in the wedding, Thea is understandably hurt. They may not be that close, but she's her sister and Thea wanted to be a part of her special day. So with her therapist's words in her ear, telling her to stop fawning, to make boundaries and stop people pleasing, to choose fight or flight instead, she chooses to fight (aka bang the best man, her sister's least favorite person at the wedding).
hehehe
Kade is the groom's brother, a true crime writer, and def has mommy/abandonment issues. He also didn't want to humilate the pretty girl he saw earlier that day when she propositions him in front of the cameras. But it's not for show when they decide to find out if teasing and slow or hard and fast is the best over the the wedding week together ;)
This book went right in on the spice and oooh man Avery kept the spice and tension going. They're a couple who really see each other and are each other's perfect match. I do love when it's clear they're meant to be, that whatever anyone else thinks, the other is the hottest/smartest/most incredible person in the world to them. Loved how hard Kade fell like that man may not have realized it but he was a SIMP protective of Thea.
The only thing that was missing was Dex and Jackie's vows because I did want more of them (also, glad I was right about Jackie).
Thank you to Valentine PR, Netgalley, and Entangled Publishing for an arc in exchange for an honest review!
Feat: insta-lust (idk what you call spice before 20%), banter, actually laugh-out-loud humour, great mix of serious and romcom sweet sillyness, no one-note characters, SPICE

I mean, sometimes, you just gotta bang it out right? That’s what Thea decides in a moment of hurt anger, and decides to ask a question to Kade, that ends up going live to the world. Thus ensues a lot of hiding, running, and sneaking around at the 80’s theme wedding from hell…o. Both have their issues (everyone involved with the wedding seems to have issues), but when they’re together, they are nothing but sheer sexy fun!! I absolutely loved this and cannot wait for the next book!!
This was a lot of fun! I loved seeing Thea come out of her shell bit by bit and become the person she wanted to be. Kade and Thea were constantly making me laugh and snort with their banter and antics. Even with all the laugh out loud parts I'm glad that the more serious undertones came through and resolutions were found. Definitely a great read
