Ok, I must admit, the cover got me on this one. Who can resist and T-Rex in a dress with confetti all over the place? I have read Avery Flynn before, and her books definitely fall in the adorable yet spicy category, and I have enjoyed the giggles I get along the way. I must say reading this one in many aspects was like watching the prom scene from Pretty in Pink with much uglier dresses. But being in my twenties in the 1980s brought back a lot of the bad memories of icky fashion from that time. Oh, the hair! However, the story of Thea and Kade and what they go through having to wear these fashions makes for a hilarious time.

Thea, who avoids conflict at all costs, has made herself a doormat for her family. However, her therapist has given her exercises to stand up for herself. Kade has commitment issues because of his parents' toxic relationship and the scars it left on him and his brother. Both of these situations are hard, but Kade and Thea meet, and through their no-strings and no-personal stuff at the wedding festivities, they truly find each others' hearts. But this is not without many dad jokes about dinosaurs, information about dinosaurs, true crime statistics, along with 80s-themed activities that leave you laughing.

This very cute, easy read has a great pace and entertaining dialogue to keep you moving through the book as you learn more about Thea and Kade. We watch both grow as they fall in love with each other and learn how to handle each of their issues. They make a very sweet couple. All of this intertwines with Flynn's other series that take place in Harbor City, so you will read things that bring back memories of other books; however, you do not have to have read any of her previous books to enjoy this one. The T-Rex on the cover indicates just how adorable this book is.

When your favorite word is "Fine" and you just go with the flow because - well it's all "Fine" - That is until you find out that you might be a "Fawn" and it isn't really all "Fine"

This was packed with witt, steam (not just the romantic kind, the sulfur stenchy type too) a bit of family drama from the mamas, some more steam, light angst, a camera crew that tends to pop up at the most inappropriate moments, a theme wedding straight out of your aerobic nightmares - yes that's right the 80's folks- and just so much more!!

Thea and Kade were the perfect romantic combination. The story was fast-paced and easy to follow. Captivated from opening to closing. Great characters that truly triggered my love and loathe response.

This was one of those reads that left me with all the feels and a whole lot of there is a lot to love in life

If you're looking for a quick steamy read, Anger Bang may just be the book for you. The story follows a shy paleontologist who heads to Wyoming for her sister's 80s-themed reality tv wedding when she learns her sister doesn't even want her there. In spite of her sister, she asks the best man if he wants to have an anger bang, live on tv.

If you're not a big fan of sex scenes, I will warn you now, this is not going to be a book for you. The sex scenes are intense right from the start and they don't let up. I personally enjoyed the book and loved the underlying messages of romance, love, friendship, and family, but at its core, this book is definitely one surrounding sex, 80s-themed adventures, and dinosaurs.

A fun summer book.
Thank you Entangled Publishing, TLC Book Tours, and NetGalley for the eARC!

This book is so damn funny. I was so drawn to the characters and the banter. The steamy scenes are 🔥. I'm very much in reality shows, so this pulled me right in. The plot was perfectly executed. There are some heavier topics woven in. I highly recommend it!

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
SPICE: 🔥🔥🔥
I came for the sibling pettiness, and I was pleasantly surprised -- and delighted -- to have gotten so much more.

Thea is about to enter 80s-themed wedding hell. Which is apparently in middle-of-nowhere, Wyoming where it stinks like rotten eggs and there is no escape. What makes the situation even worse is that her Hollywood star sister -- AKA Bridezilla -- has agreed to have it all documented as a reality TV show.

When her sister slips out that she never wanted Thea to be part of the wedding, the normally compliant paleontologist switches over to petty mode and recruits her sister's nemesis for a wedding weekend fling.

Kade St. James also happens to be the best man and the groom's brother. When the maid of honor -- whom he has been eyeing since they met -- comes up to him and asks loudly if he wants a no-strings, this-weekend-only toss in the hay, he grabs her by the hand and whisks her away.

I really enjoyed this read. It promised hilarity and delivered in spades. I loved Avery Flynn's intricate detailing that had me vividly imagining being in the middle of nowhere, miserably dressed in neon, and catering to a demanding bride's every whim. Thea and Kade were incredibly relatable: I immediately felt sympathy for their respective family issues. Especially with Thea, I can totally understand trying to break out of being the family pushover.

The spice hits on this one, and that's largely because Kade St. James is a master. That dirty mouth and mind had me wishing for some time alone with him in a garden shed.

My favorite part of the read, however, is their individual arc with their families. You come into this read with a certain assumption about their family members and that slowly progresses into something more heartwarming.

If you love to laugh a lot with your romance reads, this is a fantastic pick.

** I am voluntarily reviewing an advance copy of this book. Thank you to Avery Flynn, Entangled Publishing, Valentine PR and Literary Management, and NetGalley and for providing an ARC. **

Such a fun read! I loved the chemistry between Thea and Kade. They had so many fun and spicy moments together. I could totally relate to the sister relationship and if my sister had said something like that to me I would have walked away. It was interesting to see she stayed and eventually, they were able to talk about their issues and were able to grow from there.

Thea Pope is a shy paleontologist, just trying to get through her sister's reality show wedding. It's an 80's themed wedding, her sister has turned into a bridezilla, forcing the guests into wild outfits and plenty of it's my day antics. To top it all of the location reeks of sulfur.

The only thing that makes things worse, is when her sister declares that she never wanted Thea there in the first place. She can't even begin to express how hurt she feels by this. So she decides to hook up with the one man her sister can't stand. The groom's brother Kade St.James.

It may have all started as petty revenge but now neither is so sure.

Thank you so much to the author, ValentinePR and NetGalley for this ARC to review.

Thea Pope has had enough of being a doormat to her family... which she realizes just in time for her sisters reality-show-wedding-extravaganza! But when her sister says the most hurtful thing imaginable... all Thea wants is revenge... as she knows just the guy to help her with that...

Kade St. James would do anything to support his brother... even attend the destination wedding from hell. But when a surprise guest arrives, Kade makes it abundantly clear that he will NOT be participating in that particular farce...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anger Bang was a super funny read, full of reality tv cameras, sexy times, and spectacularly tacky 80's memorabilia! Thea and Kade's siblings are getting married, but their Wyoming wedding is going to be anything but the Hollywood dream...
Thea is an accomplished paleontologist who loses all sense when it comes to dealing with any sort of confrontation... particularly with her sister and mother. And while the last thing Thea would ever want to do is be in front of cameras again, she could never let her sister down... no matter how much she feels like an outsider...
Kade is a true crime author who dislikes most people. But the moment Kade meets Thea, his interest, and desire, is immediate. She proposes an "anger bang" to get back at her bridezilla of a sister... but what happens next is anything but a simple fling...
This book was such a cute read! It was chock-full of chaos, 80's-themed bridal mishaps, and all the family drama you can handle! Thea and Kade's chemistry is scorching hot, and that definitely translates to every single stolen moment they can find with each other!
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
Avery Flynn definitely brings the spice and steam with this one, along with a heavy dose of insta-lust that develops into real feelings. However, that's not all. There are plenty of fun and funny moments and crazy 80's themed wedding events throughout the story. What I liked the most, though, is the character growth and real emotional issues both Kade and Thea work through.
Kade and Thea first meet at the reality tv wedding weekend of his brother and her sister. When circumstances lead Thea to proposition Kade they find an unexpected connection. They had great banter and chemistry and I thought they were both interesting characters who were well matched. I liked that they cared about what the other was going through and offered support even though they hadn't known each other very long.
This can be read as a standalone, but is loosely connected to Avery's other Harbor City books.
En bref, j'ai adoré le contexte, les personnages, les engueulades et autres discussions à cœurs ouverts, ils sont touchants et attachants et on ne peut que dévorer les pages pour savoir comment le tout va tourner. Les mots de l'autrice nous font vivre chaque instant intensément, j'ai aimé les voir se battre pour ce qui compte pour eux, les voir aussi parfois lâcher prise et le tout donne un roman qui se dévore et ne nous laisse pas souffler une seule seconde. J'ai adoré Kade et Thea, ils sont tous les deux intenses, chacun à sa manière et le final nous apporte des réponses vraiment chouettes sur leurs choix et leurs sentiments. Une très jolie romance qui nous donne un immense sourire !!
Picture this... a reality show style 80's themed wedding taking place off of the Stinkingwater River in Wyoming. Sounds all sorts of horrible right? But add in Thea Pope that is fed up with her sister Jackie's bridezilla attitude and takes her revenge in the form of banging the best man, Kade St. James and you have another sexy yet funny rom-com from the mind of Avery Flynn.
Anger Bang is such a fun read. I adored Thea and her nerdy dinosaur obsessed self- but even more I loved watching her testing out all the coping tactics her therapist recommended that not only made her feel more bold and confident but was the catalyst for her sassy and sexy relationship with the broody bad boy that was Kade. Kade was so much more than he seemed- all prickly on the outside to protect his big squishy heart but not without a big helping of him denying the sweetness inside. Then these two together, trying to avoid the camera people like the plague made me giggle while the heat they created together was 🥵 While these two get hot and heavy pretty quickly, I loved the slow build of their relationship from no information or attachments to a friendship they weren't expecting and ultimately finding a HEA that neither of them were looking for. All of those little moments between them, whether Thea was being sassy, things were getting sexy or even a little tender, made this story hard to put down.
There is a whole miscommunication portion to the story which made me want to scream but it gets cleared up fairly easily so I didn't want to pull my hair out or anything and actually leads to a pretty cute ending for these two and for several other relationships around them.
I loved how Avery created this set up to interconnect Thea and her best friends Astrid and Nola by not only having them be besties living in the same city but this idea that they are all going to the same therapist to become the best versions of themselves. I'm already hooked on them and can't wait for Astrid's story next!!
To be honest when I started it I was a little bored, but as I read it I got more invested in the story. Our main female character is Thea, a shy paleontologist and she is going to her sister's 80s themed wedding. She didn’t like that her sister didn’t want her in the bridal party so what she decides, she decides to go and have revenge sex with the one person her sister doesn't like and that’s the groom’s brother Kade. I liked that the whole story is fast paced and it's so sweet and in some moments dirty. I think I made some inhuman noises but that’s Kade’s fault. That man has a dirty mouth that made me blush and kick my feet. I didn't like how Thea's mom and sister treated her until the ending where everything was said and some things were cleared up. The epilogue was so cute and wholesome.
Overall, this was one easy summer read and I’m excited to read the next book.
Thea and Kade are dragged into a reality show wedding. How you may ask? It's a publicity stunt between their actor siblings. It's complete with an outrageous 80's theme and taking place by Stinkwater River in Wyoming. Thea is a shy paleontologist who just wants to hide in the back and get through the wedding so she can go on a dig. Kade is a cynical true crime writer who doesn't think his brother should be getting married. How else are the two supposed to get revenge and spend time besides with each other - out of bed and in it. What starts as one night turns into the whole week. And then maybe forever if the two can figure their stuff out.
Thea is a relatable character. She decided keeping the status quo works well and she avoids conflicts like it's her job. And all the references to her actual job, dinosaur jokes and all, were pretty funny. There were points I had to set the book down because I honestly got second hand embarrassment. But I did pick it back up and keep reading because I had to know what was going to happen. I recommend for rom-com lovers and anyone who would have liked a more likable female version of Ross from Friends.
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the advanced read of Anger Bang. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
“‘Relationships are a risk,’ Kade said…‘They’re chaotic. They’re the absolute fucking nightmare of ripping open your chest, exposing your heart, and saying, ‘Go ahead. I trust you.’” 🦖
Shy paleontologist Thea Pope just wants to get through her sister’s ’80s-themed TV reality-show wedding so she can get to her summer field work. The only problem? Her sister has turned into the ultimate bridezilla – all while on location in a place literally called hell that reeks of sulfur and lost hopes.
The only thing that can make it worse is when her sister declares that she never even wanted Thea in the wedding at all but that the producers insisted. Ouch doesn’t begin to express how much that hurt to hear. Now there’s only one thing Thea can do after her sister finally pushes her too far – she picks the one man at the wedding her sister cannot stand – the groom’s brother, Kade St. James – and has sex with him.
Is it petty revenge that she’ll be rubbing in her sister’s face from now until eternity? Absolutely. Still, it seems like a great idea at the time, and really what could go wrong?
Omg this book was so FUN! I read it in an afternoon. It’s a page turning, root for forgiveness, holy hot as hell WOWZA of a story. Initially I wondered what the title meant. Whelp, it means literally what it says. And the anger bang that ensues is 🥵 🔥.
I loved these characters! The setting is as fun as it is absolutely ridiculous. This book drops tomorrow so add it to your tbr now!! You won’t regret it.
“Sometimes, revenge came with orgasms. That was the beauty of it. Fucking Kade St. James—Jackie’s most hated guest—was the perfect way for Thea to get back at her sister. Crossing her fingers behind her back, she sent up a quick prayer to the patron saint of revenge orgasms and made her way over to Mr. Tall, Hot, and Completely Hated By Her Sister.” One of the best quotes I’ve read in recent memory 🤣👏🏻🫶🏻🙌🏻
I can’t decide if I loved the humor, the self-growth, the spice, or the plot the most. So let’s just say this is the perfect mashup of everything you could want in a romcom.
Thea is so incredibly lovable. Her puns, her sass, her genuine love for those around her. This was such an expected delightful read that I just couldn’t put it down. An 80s themed reality wedding? The antics of this group had me laughing out loud often. There’s no lack of drama here and Avery Flynn keeps you right on edge the whole time. I will say despite the name, I honestly wasn’t expecting quite the amount of spice- which for me is a giant win but if it’s not your thing… maybe don’t read a book titled Anger Bang with a Trex wearing a fluffy, pink prom dress on it?
*This book was provided to my as an ARC in exchange for my honest review*
Dinosaur loving girl thinks she’s a pushover sacrificing herself to do what her family needs. She goes to her sisters wedding, tasked with some introspection tasks, at the direction of her therapist. In walks her solitude loving, soon-to-be brother in law, who happens to be the handsome true-crime writer of her (surprise) dreams. He gives her the confidence bump she needed to put her wants before those of her family.
I had planned to read this book over five days, but I ended up finishing it quickly. It was a cute and enjoyable read, even though it was predictable. I appreciated the emphasis on seeing a therapist and the importance of recognizing one's trauma response in the real world. While I understand the desire to resolve the family dynamic as a misunderstanding, I would have preferred it to be portrayed as the main characters believed it to be. The neat resolution at the end tied up all the storylines, but sometimes the messiness of life is what makes it feel more authentic.
Thea Pope meets Kade St. James during the filming of a reality tv series. Thea’s sister and Kade’s brother are the bride and groom. This particular locale adds character to the ambiance of this entertaining story—imagine getting married in a town named Colter’s Hell, WY, which is situated alongside the Stinkingwater River (!) while wearing clothes straight out of the 80’s! And it only gets worse! There are cameras everywhere, and the bride doesn’t really want her sister there and she’s behaving like a bridezilla. The groom and his brother are both dealing with abandonment issues, having lived through their mother leaving them without explanation when they were younger. Thea is smart, and just wants to work on an archeological dig in the area, but she has to get through this farce of a wedding first. After she learns that her sister doesn’t really want her there, she decides to have an anger bang session with Kade. They try to keep things impersonal, but it ends up quite differently…
This story flows well for the most part, with some slower scenes at times. There are some important issues facing each protagonist, and they deal with them courageously by facing them fully. They both grow quite a bit within the story, and they aren’t afraid to acknowledge when they are wrong. There are some beautifully-written heartfelt conversations among several key characters that add beauty to this story. There are multiple lighthearted moments as well; luckily, they happen unexpectedly, but are very welcome! This is a fun story that could be a great vacation read!
Anger Bang is such a fun read and I was hooked from beginning to end. The story gave a great blend of humor, steam, family drama and emotions and had me fully captivated with the characters and their story.
This novel will take you on a wild ride as we go on this 1980's destination wedding, which is being filmed for reality tv and the ridiculousness of it all will have you laughing.
The main characters Thea and Kade, a dinosaur loving paleontologist and a true crime writer, were the siblings of the bride and groom respectively. They were both relatable, flawed characters you will easily love. Thea decides to anger bang Kade so as to get back at her sister and there starts their benefits arrangement.
They had great chemistry and lots of sizzling hottt steamy scenes however they both had baggage to unpack before getting to their HEA.
The author did a great job with character growth and I loved seeing how their relationship evolved the more they spent time together and I loved that they were able to work through their struggles.
There were some highly emotional moments in the story with some scenes being major eye openers for both MC.
This story was a well written, heart warming tale and is a must read for romance lovers.
This wasn’t my typical type of read but it sounded good and I was able to receive an ARC - and I am so glad I did! The storyline was original and fun, and made the book difficult to put down!
- Strong female lead and development
- Spicy
- Fling to Lovers
- Spicy
- HEA
- And did I mention spicy?!
This story was fun, the character development was excellent, and the comedy was great. It felt like real people, and I could absolutely picture the story in my mind as if it were a reality show. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if this was made into a film or short series!
I read this book over the course of a day. I wasn't sure about it going in but it ended up being really good. Thea and Kade meet at a destination wedding for their siblings that is being filmed as a reality tv show. Thea's sister is a complete bridezilla and tells Thea she never wanted her there to begin with. This pisses Thea off and so she devises a plan of revenge and propositions Kade, which of course is caught on camera and leads to the start of their relationship. Both characters have difficult familial relationships and their own hangups to deal with at the same time as this reality wedding. Thea has a personality similar to mine so that was nice, some of the things she dealt with really resonated with me. Both main characters and several side characters have revelations by the end of the book, it definitely got emotional. But it was also funny and super spicy, it seemed like at first it was mostly a spice book but then it did get deeper. This was my first Avery Flynn book but I would be interested in reading more!
this cover is the best 😂
Former child star, Thea, is a people-pleasing paleontologist is forced to be a part of her sisters wedding, which is being filmed for a reality show. Angry at her sister for forcing her to be a part of this, Thea decides she wants to “angry bang” the best man at the wedding. The two start a no strings attached fling.
This was so funny. So spicy. So dramatic.
I wanted more of Thea as a paleontologist because her character shined there. Her character got to be a little too tiny with her sister and mom but seeing her grow was great.
I appreciated the psychology throughout and seeing the different family dynamics. Kade, the male love interest, is flighty because his mon left when he was a kid and has held a grudge for 20 years. It was frustrating to see how much he acted like a kid for a lot of the book.
I didn’t feel chemistry between them for a while, but it definitely built as the book went on.
Definitely a great summer read!!!
Thank you to Valentine PR, entangled publishing, and NetGalley for an eARC of this! My opinions are my own
