As a still dinosaur obsessed adult the cover immediately drew me in, then I read the FMC was a paleontologist and I was sold. This was such a cute romcom! I am NOT a fawner (someone who as Thea says, "goes along to get along") I am much more likely to flee, fight, or freeze so she was not really relatable to me but this was an instance of that not effecting my enjoyment of the book at all once we got past the first couple of chapters. I enjoyed getting to watch her learn to think about what she was feeling and how she was responding. The pro-therapy mental health rep in this book is fantastic. I also loved Kade, who had plenty of his own stuff to deal with but was always oh so sweet to Thea despite him thinking/saying he was not into relationships.
There are plenty of reality tv shennanigans, which I found hilarious, and lots of family drama. Avery did a fantastic job of balancing the comedy with the hard stuff and that is often hard to do. This was a great fluffy romcom.
Shy paleontologist Thea Pope just wants to get through her sister's '80s-themed monstrosity of a TV reality-show wedding so she can get to her summer field work. The only thing that can make it worse is when her sister declares that she never even wanted Thea in the wedding at all but that the producers insisted. Ouch doesn't begin to express how much it hurts that her own sister didn't even want her to be at her wedding. There's only one thing Thea can do after her sister finally pushes her too far - she picks the one man at the wedding her sister cannot stand - the groom's brother, Kade St. James - and has sex with him.
The only reason Kade is at the TV reality show wedding, is because he loves his brother, and he is the only family he has, at least the only one he acknowledges. When Thea proposes an Anger bang to get back at her sister, the attraction is strong enough for him to agree. And rest like they say is history.
Anger Bang is a book not to be missed. It’s a perfect blend of funny, romantic and heart-warming. It is very well written with some charming characters. We have witty banter to tickle our funny bones, romance to make us swoon and emotional moments that warm our heart. This book has left me wanting more and now I cant wait for the next in the series.
Destination Wedding Live (streamed)!
I laughed so hard! And, I'll admit I got a little misty-eyed as well. I like to highlight lines or parts of text that I think are funny or want to remember. My list of highlights for this book is a mile long! One of my favorites is right from the beginning and cracked me up: "Thea didn’t think it was possible to be more sick of a decade she hadn’t even been alive for." As a GenXer I am appalled- LOL! It's so funny because I can really see how anyone in this generation would be totally annoyed with the 80s. It's driven home by the torture of having an 80s themed week-long destination wedding filmed for a reality show!
There are so many aspects to this wedding nightmare that make this book a hit! Jackie, the bridezilla/sister-zilla/diva actress-zilla. Dex, the I'm-just-doing-what-I'm-told groom. Thea, the bride's sister who is just trying to get through this with some dignity left while being bossed around by her mother and sister. Kade, the groom's brother who is desperately trying to talk his brother out of this fiasco of a PR wedding. And poor Justine, the production manager that is trying to get everyone mic'd up, stay on schedule, and keep the camera crew on their toes - especially when trying to catch Kade & Thea sneaking off all the time. All wrapped up in a pretty, neon, choreographed, sponsor-filled love fest, 80s wedding package.
Kade & Thea are the perfect distraction for each other that they need. Just this wedding week they agree to get some sort of revenge and relief with some harmless 'anger banging.' Then go back to their normally scheduled program of their lives. Easy peasy. Let's get it on!
This was a totally awesome to the max read! Loved it!!
4.5 This book was just absolute fun! It was steamy and hilarious. Also doesn’t the cover just draw you into start with.
This reality tv wedding is a disaster to begin with and then having the sister of the bride, Thea, ask the brother of the groom, Kade, if he wants to anger bang during a lull in the music so every person and Cameron caught it. The laughter could not stop haha. Then they decide to continue for the week so they have someone to be with during the fiasco but end up falling for each other as they get to know one another. Thea is a paleontologist and Kade a suspense/mystery author and it was cute watching them try to flirt but mostly giving facts they’ve learned during their job. They are both so real, flawed, and relatable.
My favorite part of this book was Thea being in therapy, how her friend encouraged her to go but she was sceptic and what she has learned along the way and the revelation she has at the end and is like so this is what we’ve been working towards. Just loved it! We also get to see her struggle with the challenge internally that her therapist gave her multiple times, talk about growth for oneself. Mental Health is not always discussed well thought of and this was incredibly positive about the work that goes in not only seeing the therapist but also as an individual between sessions actually trying to do the things their therapist asked.
This book is witty, heartwarming with great characters and sizzling. Can’t wait for Thea’s toe friends books.
When I saw this title and cover I wanted this book!! When I realized it actually fits the story, all the better. This is a delightful and steamy romp. Thea Pope is a quiet, people pleasing, paleontologist. She gets dragged into being a bridesmaid for her sister, an actress, who has sold the week long nuptials as a reality tv live stream. But wait, there is more. It is filming in a hot thermal area of Wyoming and is hilariously 1980’s themed. Yes, big hair, pastel polo shirts, Cabbage Patch dolls and various paid sponsors. The one thing that Thea can do to vex her sister is to hook-up with the best man.
Kade St. James is the broody and hunky brother of the groom and he’s just as exasperated about the wedding as Thea. He is a successful true crimes author, has mommy issues and she is coming to the wedding. These two are dorky and sweet. While getting physical, a lot, they actually become friends rescuing one another at different times. I love Thea’s therapist encouraging her to think about her responses and to choose when to Fawn, Fight, Flight or Freeze. I think I fawn way too often. The chemistry is wonderful as is the banter between the Thea and Kade. It helps that the wedding couple and moms get some emotional healing moments too. This is a wonderfully fun, hot, steamy and charming story.
Big thank you to Entangled Publishing for the ARC via NetGalley and I am leaving a voluntary review.
Anger Bang is a steamy romance situated in the middle of a live-streamed wedding. Very hot sexy scenes!
Started off slow. Wished that the romance was slower paced, and the love between the two developed more organically. Loved all the characters and their backstories. Thoroughly enjoyed this read!
Anger Bang is a hilarious romcom that’s tons of fun. Once again, Avery Flynn expertly combines humor and steam for a delightful romance.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Paleontologist Thea is trying to learn not to be a fawn, someone who is accommodating to everyone, and to embrace her flight, fight or freeze responses to life. She faces a massive challenge, though, when she heads to her actress sister’s 80s themed reality tv wedding. Her family is used to Thea being a pushover, and she’s not sure how she’ll handle their overbearing ways. When she’s being fitted for the most over the top bridesmaid’s dress ever, she meets Kade, who happens to be the groom’s grumpy brother. After being pushed too far, Thea proposes that the two anger bang and annoy her controlling sister in the process. Kade thinks Thea is interesting and gorgeous, and is happy to avoid the wedding festivities for some sizzling hot moments. But what happens when the pair’s no-emotions-involved relationship starts feeling all too real?
This hilarious romance makes the most of the 80s theme, from the music to Members Only jackets. Grumpy Kade and sunshine Thea each have no patience for the reality tv environment that their siblings put so much stake in to help their acting careers. It helps that the two have some steamy chemistry of their own.
Both Thea and Kade have some emotional baggage, and they eventually share it with each other over the course of the book. As a people pleaser myself, I understood Thea’s point of view very well, and took it as a personal victory when she began to stick up for herself. And it was refreshing to see stubborn and determined Kade eventually listen to what his family had to say.
Anger Bang has great characters. Their reaction to the forced proximity and 80s immersion of the reality tv set makes for a fun book. Thea and Kade’s romance is a great story to pack for your summer vacation.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What is the hottest pepper?! Because that is the level of steam and spice in Anger Bang! This book also has a whole lot of heart! Thea and Kade are in Wyoming for the wedding of their siblings; a week of wedding activities which, by the way, is being filmed for reality tv! When Thea asks Kade if wants to anger bang as a way to get back at her bridezilla sister, they agree to a no-strings attached, no-kissing fling out of view of cameras. The love scenes were hot, but it was when the walls protecting their bruised hearts came down that got me all tingly. I truly cared about these two as a couple, and I cared for them individually as they worked through their pain, their insecurities, their anger, and their love.
This book was a great light read. It was one of those books that once you start reading you can’t put it down. It has the perfect amount of spicy and drama.
Caution - this book will cause uncontrollable laughter from Avery Flynn with a wedding you'll never forget. A Bridezilla who is the focal point of an 80's themed wedding, a cast of characters plucked and perfect for reality TV. Afterall, sometimes what you see on tv isn't exactly the whole truth or happened as we think it did. .
Now, go grab your best 80's fashion and get in the mood for scorchin hot shenanigans. Find your old mix tapes, slap up a few posters on your wall, and kick back as we head to the 80's for one of the wildest wedding weekends ever!
Avery Flynn has delivered us a memorable Bridezilla, a cast of characters plucked and perfect for reality TV, and a discovery that sometimes the possibility of not having what we really desire is the motivation to reconcile our past so we can grow and move forward allowing us to find the love we are worthy of..
With so many nuggets of goodness wrapped up in pepto-bismol pink you will be thankful that some fads are better off back "then" and enjoy this trip down memory lane with a bookcation that has all those nuggets. I can't wait for the next installment.
"Sometimes, revenge came with orgasms."
Thea is stuck in her own personal hell. She hates being in the limelight and just wants to live her life in the background. Her sister Jackie, however, thrives in the spotlight. So much so that Jackie agrees to turn her wedding into a reality TV circus, and Thea is expected to be there.
“It’s Sprite. Who keeps soda in a flask? Oh. My. God. He’s such a weirdo."
Enter Kade St. James, brother of the groom. He's big. He's brash. He...carries around a flask of Sprite and ignites panties in his wake. When Thea finally breaks during the wedding prep week and decides to get revenge on her bridezilla sister, Kade is the perfect choice for an angry wedding bang.
“I’ll take that word,” he said, his voice low and raw with want, “if it means you can’t say it ever again.”
But Kade and Thea were never meant to be a one-and-done deal. Their chemistry is too strong. Kade is there to help Thea escape being a people pleaser and she's there to keep him from fighting a bison out of spite. They instantly flock to each other when tensions rise and emotions flair. Instead of just losing themselves in each other's bodies, they grow a bond that maybe, just maybe, can survive after the wedding.
"He looked like he’d rather stab someone in the eye than spend three hours in the gym, but he also had that thick, hard body of someone who would survive the zombie apocalypse with the help of his trusty shovel that he’d name Beauregard."
I love the way Avery Flynn writes. It's so descriptive and funny! She could have described Kade in a million ways, but she went for zombie apocalypse survivor, and it was absolutely perfect. He totally WOULD have a shovel named Beauregard. I'm convinced!
The third act shenanigans are what keep this from being a 5 star read. Kade very bluntly made a statement about what he wanted, and Thea acted like it never happened and instead wallowed in self-pity. Then she caught him saying some rather mean things that he never apologized for. Yes, he was lying to himself when he said them, but she still heard the words and deserved massive amounts of groveling.
Fair warning: Angry Bang is spicy spicy spicy! Thea and Kade's relationship begins with sex so obviously it plays a huge role. I didn't find it frivolous though. With each encounter, their affection for each other grew, and the dialogue was super swoony. A lot of the plot is formulated during these encounters, so I wouldn't skip over them.
Thank you, Entangled Publishing and NetGalley, for the opportunity to read this book. It was wonderful!

This book was hilarious and so FUN! I absolutely loved the entire 80’s themed wedding setting - especially since I could appreciate all of the references having lived through the 80s myself. Best time period if you ask me.
In addition to the fun & hilarious setting, I just loved Thea & Kade. Grumpy vs sunshine…but wait, is she really just sunshine or is she fawning her way through life? Thea’s character arc was perfectly done and while I’ve 100% never been a people-pleaser myself, I truly enjoyed the perspective of how that can become problematic and overshadow who you really want to be. Kade comes with baggage and years of repressing same. Commitment phobia much?
So to recap: 80s themed wedding; personality crisis; hilarious escapades (or should I say sexcapades) and some spicy scenes that will ensure your partner gets lucky after your reading sessions…what more could you ask for in a book?
Thank you so much to Entangled Publishing & NetGalley for the opportunity to read the e-version of this super fun romp through the desert and the Stinkingwater River. My opinions are 100% my own and I’ll definitely be purchasing this one for my shelves as it was crazy fun!
**Thank you to NetGalley, the author, & the publisher for a chance to read to & review an ARC of this book!**

Things I Liked:
-I loved the tension between Thea & Kade from the 1st time they ran into each other.
-The highlight on mental health & therapy was super well done! I loved that Thea was hesitant to really try therapy but eventually found that it can be helpful. Seeing Thea's internal mental health work to challenge her fawning tendencies was admirable & made her super relatable for me.
-The focus on forgiveness (but with time to allow for healing instead of immediate forgiveness) rang true with me. I enjoyed the honest portrayal of healing (and how it can look different from person to person) when it came to Kade & Dex's relationships with their mother.
-I loved that Kade & Thea were able to be both goofy & sexually intimate with each other. I think that the best relationships have a good balance of humor & sexual attraction (showcasing different types of intimacy).
-Kade is so dreamy & the spicy scenes were so good!
-Sister power! I loved that Thea & her sister Jackie were able to work on their relationship.
-The settings & whole reality television 80s wedding was such a fun theme & setting!
-The epilogue! SWOOOOOOOON. I love that we got a view into Thea & Kade's future lives. Rex sounds so cute & I love that Kade & Thea were bickering over Dino names for baby number 2!
Things That Didn't Sit Quite Right With Me:
-Nothing!
Overall, I loved this book & I gave it 5 stars!
