I think this book was a really good idea that had moments that really gripped me, but I wish the author had done more to lean into their expertise in architecture as that was what made the book interesting and fresh. When she did generic jail stuff it lost my attention, but when she leaned into the way jails physically look as a way to examine jails more broadly it was good.
