Okay first Hannah Grace read, and though I was a little bummed I jumped into a series, I had no trouble keeping up with names and storylines. I did however waste no time after finishing this book to jump to Icebreaker, which has been on my TBR forever!!
Anyway solid book, solid characters, and solid issues. I don't mean to trivialize by saying solid issues, but I liked the depth both characters had. All this book made me want to do was be a kid again, and go to summer camp (which I never attended). I love two characters supporting each other and figuring their sh*t out together. Ugh I love love.
This is such a cute story of two people who bond over similar issues in their everyday life outside of camp. They learn to trust each other, have someone they can depend on and fall in love.
This book is a delightful read, it shares the same character development style that I like from the first in the series while introducing new concepts that kept me loving it throughout. I loved watching these characters fall in love and seeing how they connect and help each other grow into better people had me smiling all the way through. Hannah Grace is by far one of my favourite writers, and I can't wait to read what she puts out in the future. Overall I loved this book and would definitely recommend reading it.
This book hooked me from the moment the main characters met! I worried I would be lost because I didn’t read the first book in this grouping. You didn’t have to!
The only part that I wasn’t a fan of, was the amount of “daddy issues”. I know it was needed to get to know the characters but it seemed heavy at times.
I would still recommend it to a friend!
So good! I love Russ and Aurora. The camp setting was super fun, and the I loved the dynamic between all of the characters, especially the kids and counselors. The plot was paced well. The animals (puppies and a new cat, yes please!) put it over the top. I did miss the hockey aspect, though. I think that would've tied it to the first book a little better. Can't wait to see what is next!
This was the perfect follow up to Icebreaker, while some authors might suffer from a second book slump Hannah Grace does not. Rory and Russ are absolutely adorable together, lovers to friends, then right back to lovers.
Experiencing Russ and Rory open up to each other was magical and what better of a background than summer camp. This was a truly good read, and I cannot wait to place my own copy on my book shelf! Sexy, sweet, emotional, yet fun right to the end. Hannah Grace knows how to write a good contemporary romance!
Loved the summer time and camp vibe. I would have liked to see more of their campus life together. I would have liked to get more on her relationship with her father.
I very much enjoyed this book! I love Hannah Grace’s characters and feel that the college setting lends to it being more fun. I liked Icebreaker better, but still a great follow up.
I absolutely loved Icebreaker and couldn’t wait to read Wildfire. Boy did it not disappoint. I absolutely loved Aurora and Russ and their stories. I was hooked from the beginning and read this book in less than a day. I simply could not put it down! It was wonderful watching Aurora and Russ grow as characters and mature. The character development and growth was great to see. Although I was hoping for more hockey in this book (like in Icebreaker) I loved that it was set at a summer camp. I know my students will enjoy this book! Thank you netgalley and publisher for the advanced copy. I can’t wait until October to add this to my shelf. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
Adorable cover! LOVED icebreaker so naturally I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one and it did not disappoint. No sports in this one but instead a summer camp! I feel like you could also enjoy this as a standalone honestly. I feel as if i could go on all day about this one but I'll save you some time and just tell you to def get your hands on this when you can. October will be here before you know it!
Wildfire was a great follow up to Hannah Grace's hit Icebreaker. Aurora was relatable and Russ is just adorable. Highly recommend.
When Aurora sneaks out of Russ’s room after a one night stand, she knows she made the right decision. After all, this is the summer where she’s going to change and get her life together. And she believes that until Russ shows up at the summer camp where she is working as a camp counselor…and he is one too.
I am always a sucker for stories about camp, and this one is no different. It was amazing to see how well Russ and Rory connected as friends, even after having a one night stand. I liked that it wasn’t “insta-love” and they really had to work hard to get to a place where they could possibly be together.
Rory’s growth felt so personal. She knew there were parts of herself she wanted to change, but learning how she should only change what SHE wanted to, not just changing herself to be what everyone else wanted her to be was an amazing journey. While Russ was definitely helpful in that respect, ultimately it was the work Rory did on her own that had a lasting effect.
Both clearly have issues with their parents and it was refreshing to see that all of the issues didn’t get magically worked out in the space of the book. Sometimes, relationships with families are toxic enough that you have to end them before they completely break you.
FYI: You should know that this is NOT a hockey romance. Yes, Russ is a hockey player, but he is at summer camp so there is no actual hockey in the book. It was still a super cute story.
This book is definitely spicy, but my only issue with it is that some of the dialogue during the spicy scenes felt forced and not really in the realm of what the character might actually say. More so it seemed that things were thrown in because they are well received in the reading community (ie: Good girl).
Overall, a super cute and spicy read! I was so happy to receive this ARC from Atria Books and Net Galley.
I loved this book. I read it in 2 days because I just couldn’t put it down. I love the character development, and the growth in each character! The cameos by characters we’ve grown to love from Ice Breaker was also really fun. It was great “seeing” Nate and Stassie!
The main characters, Aurora and Russ, are complex and emotional without being too much. I love the side characters, especially Xander!
After a one night stand which ends in miscommunication. Maple Hills students Aurora and Russ find themselves working together at a summer camp. As they get to know each other it gets harder and harder to not break the camp’s no fraternization rule.
I loved the friendship between the characters. Their commitment to not being “miscommunicators”was really endearing. This is a perfect summer rom com!
This is my first Hannah Grace. I was able to enjoy the story without knowing what happened in the first book, Icebreaker. I enjoyed the banter between Russ and Aurora and the setting at a summer camp was easy to imagine. While I didn't find anything particularly life-changing about this book, it was a fun, lighthearted romance and I would recommend to anyone who enjoys romance books or has read Icebreaker and liked it.
This book was fun, fast and easy.
I really enjoyed Aurora and Russ' characters and watching their summer camp love story unfold!
I read this in three fast nights and I was sorry when it was over!
If you liked Icebreaker, you will love Wild fire. Everything that makes Icebreaker great Carrie’s over into this book in a completely different way. I love that we move away from the core group established in book 1 to focus on one of the outliers of that book, Russ, but still see those from the original group from time to time in the book. Russ and Rory’s story is every bit as engrossing as Nate and Stassie’s and just as lovable. This book balances just the right amount of spicy romance with engaging plot to take us all back to summers past.
I enjoyed Icebreaker, but Hannah Grace’s sophomore novel exceeded all expectations.
Synopsis: After a one night stand at the end of the college semester, Russ Callaghan and Aurora Roberts are shocked when they find themselves not only working at the same sleep away camp but also co-counselors for the same age group. While the camp has a strict “no staff fraternizing” policy, there is something special that starts to form between the two, but is it worth it to risk their jobs for the summer?
Thoughts: As a girl who LOVES summer camp, I feel like so much of this book was made for me. From the nosy campers, to the summer thunderstorms, evening activities and “camp goggles”, I was transported back to my own summers as a counselor. Russ was the sweetest cinnamon roll hero (and also a college hockey player). The progression of his relationship with Aurora was picture perfect, and I loved how they made a conscious effort to avoid any miscommunications. Also, I loved how they both escaped to the camp for different reasons and took the time to share their own life stories, especially when it revolved around their own family problems. My one negative was that I found the beginning confusing with all the name dropping of characters from the first book without reminding us who they were in relation to the new main characters.
Read if you like:
-Summer camp setting
-One night stand
-Forced proximity
-Found family
-Hockey player hero
-College aged characters
Thank you Atria for the ARC. Pub date 10/3
I really liked how the author took me back to my days as a camp counselor. The characters were relatable and had me routing for them from page 1. Great summer read! Really loved how it all wrapped up in the epilogue too!
I was so excited to read Wildfire after reading Hannah Grace's Icebreaker! Returning to Maple Hills was so fun, I absolutely LOVED this story and the characters. After a one night stand, Russ and Aurora find themselves working at the same summer camp. We then spend the summer with them as they navigate their own personal struggles.
The arcs that Russ and Aurora have is so important. I appreciate that Hannah Grace doesn't shy away from writing about important topics that many real people deal with (e.g., addiction, bending over backwards to please a parent who will never give us what we are looking for). And while reading about the characters dealing with all of these important issues, I found myself laughing out loud numerous times throughout the story. I am obsessed with this story and these characters, and this book cemented Hannah Grace as an all-time favorite author for me!
