Well, I thought I enjoyed Icebreaker but Hannah Grace really stole my heart with the characters in this follow up!!! I love, love, loved the chemistry with these two. The plot, build up, and tension was all so delicious!!
Russ and Aurora are camp counselors with a shared past from a steamy one-night stand. I discovered Hannah Grace on TikTok, and this second book pleasantly surprised me. The dynamics between Russ and Aurora are so relatable; you can see parts of yourself in them. The writing feels personal, delving into the complexities of family dynamics through our leads. The tension between Russ and Aurora? Absolute fire! It starts with a bang, and their forced proximity adds some spicy tension. If you're into romance with sweet moments, steamy scenes, and classic obstacles, this book is a must-read. I wasn't a huge fan of the first book, but Wildfire won me over. Highly recommended for fellow romance lovers!
I originally found out about Hannah Grace through tik tok. I was not a huge fan of the first book, but was curious to see what her second book was like. I was pleasantly surprised! I loved the dynamics of Russ and Aurora, and think everyone can see at least some part of themselves in one of, or both characters! I feel the writing is quite personable, and can tell important complexities of family dynamics through our lead characters. I especially enjoyed the tension built between the two leads, as they start off with a bang and their forced proximity creates some spicy tension. Would recommend this book to many romance lovers!
I loved reading this book! It was so easy to fall in love with the characters and sweet moments between them were the best that romance novels have to offer. Add in some steamy scenes and classic obstacles and you have story you can’t help but get invested in.
Loved this book! The characters were well fleshed out and I felt like I really knew them. A great sequel to Icebreaker with some cameos from Nate and Stassi made it so fun!
THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD!!!! I absolutely loved the setting and the banter! Hannah Grace has become one of my favs! So cute!!!
Truthfully, I was a little underwhelmed with this book and its characters. The conflict wasn’t satisfying enough to make their romance exciting.
I loved this book. After reading Icebreakers I practically peed my pants after receiving this copy as an ARC. While I did not read it until after it was already published (oopsie) this book totally got me out of my reading slump. Russ and Rory are such sweet characters to eachother. I feel like Hannah Grace really developed both of them so it felt like they shared the narrative whereas in Icebreakers I felt like that was Stassie's book with just minor contributions from Nate. I cannot wait to see where HG takes us in the next Maple Hills installment. I hope we get some more campus shenanigans and cameos from the boys.
I also can't say enough about how WELL just so GOOD that Hannah Grace writes mental health into her novels. You understand that yes people respond how people do, there's conflict, but it's resolved in a healthy way.
5/5 stars from me.
-Spicy from start to finish
-summer camp romance
-sneaking around
-friends-ish to lovers
This was so good and I regret not reading it sooner; however, it is 150% not meant for minors and therefore, I will not be giving it as a recommendation to students LOL...but I do love this series and RUSSSSS oh my GODDDDD
Wildfire
By Hannah Grace
I really enjoyed Wildfire. To be wholeheartedly honest romance isn’t my primary go to read but every so often I like to mix it up. Graces writing style was a definite hit for me and now I’ll be headed back to read the 1st book. The level of spice, trope, and story line had me hooked. Definitely recommend those who enjoy camp, hockey, spicey romance.
📚 Expected release date October 3, 2023📚
❤️Thank you Atria, Simon & Schuster, NetGalley, & the brilliant author Hannah Grace. I’m super appreciative & gave my honest opinion❤️
Hannah Grace sure knows how to write a book boyfriend. I love that her male characters aren't bad boys that finally turn around, they are just generally good from that start. I find that such a welcoming addition to the romance genre - it's hard to find a new adult romance, ESPECIALLY a hockey romance, where the guy isn't a total man whore that eventually is won over by the right girl.
Wildfire was a romance novel that takes you back to summer camp, *but with probably a little more spice! Just what were your old camp counsellors really up to?*
Hannah Grace pulls you into this novel with her relatable characters (and a lot fewer to keep track of, thank goodness for forced proximity and lack of cellphone service!)
At times this story sometimes fell flat for me due to the cringey-ness of it feeling like reading about young teenagers sneaking around camp—rather than university students/young adults with real aspirations.
The relationships with their fellow counsellors were great as it felt like we were seeing real bonding and camp friendships that are so real for many people. Overall, a fun easy summer romance to pick up!
We love you Russ.
What can I say, but I loved this book! Truly what an absolute delight to read!! Russ and Rory were so much fun to get to know and watch fall in love! This book not only gave them their own story but also brought back in SO many characters that you loved from the first book!! The sense of found family is incredibly strong and the support for each character is unreal that it has been swooning! Truly looking forward to enjoying more from this universe!!
I should have known better when I found Icebreaker to be just okay. I felt it didn’t live up to the hype. I found this book to be worse. Wildfire was veryyyy long and boring. There was no real story to me. Most nights I fell asleep reading it. It was so hard to push through. Russ is a likable character while Aurora was not at all.
I love a happy ending and Hannah Grace hasn't let me down yet! Wildfire is a sweet story with well developed characters in an established, familiar setting - the fictional university. Aurora and Russ are a balanced simple-yet-complex and seem to be a perfect match. Grateful to #netgalley for the opportunity to preview this novel I'm excited tonsee what other stories she has to tell... and will they be set in college or their future?
I could've sworn Icebreaker was so much longer than Wildfire but Icebreaker is only 35 pages longer. I'm glad this one didn't feel as long as the other did (even though I still liked it!) and that the story had a more defined plot.
I adored the summer camp setting and how Russ and Aurora had to navigate their relationship in this scenario. They have both gone through some terrible stuff with their family but they balanced each other out so well through it all. It was fun to see the whole group again and I'm looking forward to reading more about this fun group of individuals as they find their happily ever afters.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion and review.
Sweet and wild is the theme of this one. It was cute and spicy and I loved every page. This was a couple that you can't help but enjoy! The romance was so adorable and I could not put this one down.
This seems to be a very popular book but it’s just not my style. The characters were not emotionally developed and overall book was a bit immature for my taste. A lot of readers will enjoy, it just wasn’t for me.
I'll admit-- I wasn't a fan of Ice Breaker, but I LOVED Wildfire. Russ and Aurora were more complex characters who you can't help but root for from the beginning. I was impressed with the character development throughout the story, though I was hesitant about reading about new adults at summer camp. I highly recommend this!
A stand alone book 2 of this romance series. Icebreaker was such a popular book and I can see why with this one. For a while romance was seen as a style for older women but these books are young, refreshing and "spicy", a winning combination. It's not incredible nor original but its a cozy book for rainy days
