A lovely historical fiction.
A village at war series WW2 Bramble Heath.
Annie Russell a district nurse and mother Norma a midwife, answer the door to find a hat box, a whimper, a cry from a new born baby with a unmarked ration book, this has to be a local mother, they have no notes of anyone been near their time so who could it be. A little girl in a Miss Clara's hat box so they name her Clara they will do everything they can to keep Clara with them and not to be sent to a children home.
What a delightful read this was as we follow Annie's search.
I found it so easy to read throughout and it's a new author for me and hopefully maybe the start of a series.
This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher and the gifted author (s). Historical fiction at its best. A baby was left on the doorstep of a family during the war. Chaos ensues but love wins out. This is a delightful thought provoking novel about family and friends during WWII. A baby is found. The story centers around the child. I liked this book.
This book kept me up at night, longing to find out what happens.
Nurse Annie Russell lives with her parents , the local constable and midwife mother in the village of Bramble Heath. Their lives are changed suddenly when one day Annie opens the door to find a hatbox with a baby on the doorstep. Annie makes it her mission to track down the mother before social services step in. This journey changes the future not just for the baby, now known as Clara, it changes Annie’s life in many ways. It was such a lovely read and the fact that there will be more was such a lovely way to end.
This is sharp, beautifully written and incredibly powerful. I have been completely pulled in from very early on in this one. It has definitely been a book that is bound to be a success.
This is a heartwarming World War II story set in a small English village during the Battle of Britain. We learn of the changes in the villagers' lives as they do their best to support the RAF base close by as well as a group of Polish refugees forced to flee their own country. No spies or resistance fighters to worry about as the village deals with life's problems while Nazi bombers fly overhead. If you are looking for a feel-good story with happy endings, including a sweet romance, this book is for you.
I really enjoyed this book. The premise itself was interesting and the characters were over all endearing and loveable even Mr. Wyngate and Georgie. This is a clean historical romance set during the war and while there’s mourning and changes and a few heartbreaking moments it’s all with the undercurrents of love. I enjoyed both the hero and heroine, their banter and their love and support for each other especially after all they went through. I enjoyed the strength of Ewa and little bits of her relationship with her husband was cute and the heroines parents Norma and Henry were delightful. Over all, this was a good read and I enjoyed it fully and would recommend it for others to read.
The thoughts and opinions are exclusively my own and I thank the authors Ellie Curzon and the publishing house for giving me a chance to read this.

A really good read .I enjoyed this story set in world war two but there wasn't too much about it to take over from the characters and their journeys. .I really enjoyed the relationship between William and Annie ,it was beautifully written with just enough characters to be able to connect with them as they developed and hopefully continue in the next book
