I loved this first book by Arianne Richmonde and if this is the first then I can’t wait for further stories. This book was written from the pov of three people (once you get past the first scene setting part), This is the only thing I wasn’t sure I liked at first however it was necessary for the story to develop. The twist was unexpected and convincing and I totally can’t wait for more from this author.
Loved this book, I couldn't put it down & had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen! I was totally addicted!!!
I loved this thriller. It was so fast-paced and readable once you got beyond part one. You get three POVs - Ava, Minnie and Claudia. Fantastic domestic thriller and I can't wait to read more from Richmonde.
Content warnings for infidelity, murder, suicide ideation and attempt and miscarriage.
I would firstly like to thank Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
An enjoyable read for the most part, but honestly it wasn't the psychological thriller I was expecting!
The plot was intriguing, but the pacing was rather slow, and I can't say I particularly loved any of the characters either.
This was a first read from this author, and while this wasn't the best book I've ever read, it certainly wasn't the worse. Will definitely give this author another go.
WoW........The Prenup by Arianne Richmonde was an absolutely unputdownable psychological thriller with a jaw-dropping twist. That will have you gripped from the beginning till the very end which made is a completely addictive rollercoaster of a read and a great book.
I highly recommend this book and a great holiday read.
This book started out at a great pace and I loved all the twists. But as time went on it began getting repetitive and it just didn't keep me intrigued like I thought it would. I ended up dnfing it at 18%.
Ava and Lucas fall madly in love. When Ava gets pregnant they decide to get married, but his parents insist on a strict prenup. Ava gets nothing if something happens to Lucas. Although they lost the baby their marriage was everything Ava wanted until she suspects Lucas is cheating on her. Told from the point of view of three woman, what unfolds in nothing short of poetic justice.
First off I would like to say thank you to the author, NetGalley, and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The Prenup is an intriguing read about a fated marriage with no trust from either side and what happens when you cross the line too many times. A psychological thriller with several twists and turns, that will have you wondering what comes next. And the end will have you gasping with a wide open mouth at how wild it is. The Prenup is told from three perspectives.
The dynamic between Ava and Lucas is mind blowing. This book had me grasping for more and second guessing what was going on.
If you like wild rides then this is for you!
I think this book could have been really great, unfortunately there were just a number of choices made by the author that I didn't really vibe with. I will say this, I didn't realize when I requested this galley that I had previously read a book by this author that I ended up DNFing so I just think that she may not be for me. If you have enjoyed her books in the past, you will probably like this one, so take my review with a grain of salt.
My first issue with the book is the order in which it was laid out. I feel like the only reason the author chose to jumble up the timeline is because it made the ending more difficult to guess, not because it made the story more compelling. I actually just skimmed most of part 2 because at that point in the book I really didn't feel the need to spend that much time in Claudia's head. I think if her perspective had been present from the beginning and alternated with Ava's in real time I would have been more compelled to read them.
Next, I had a problem with some of Ava's character development. Namely the fact that seemingly out of nowhere she goes from being the relatively innocent scorned pregnant wife to being a conniving witch who had been trying to scheme her way out of the pre-nup from the moment they got married. Complex characters with multiple motivations are good, but rather than building on Ava's personality it feels like a complete switch up into a different person.
Finally, there were a couple twists that just felt over the top, especially the last one(if you've read the book it should be obvious what I'm talking about). It was just so unrealistic and I am usually the last person to make that particular complaint.
As I said in the beginning though, if you like this author I definitely think you should give this one a shot, her and I just don't really click.
This kept me hooked from the very beginning! Ava and Lucas are the picture perfect couple. Fall in love and so over the moon you don’t even think twice about signing the prenup… what could go wrong?
I was extremely engrossed in this story from the premise. I was intrigued and the author did a great job of keeping me hooked. I had no idea where it was going and definitely did not guess how it was going to end. This kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.
Overall- I really liked this book. It was a gripping, thrilling, page turner that was really well written! I will 100% be on the lookout for more by this author.
Oh my goodness, this is one addictive book! I literally could not put it down.
I found the whole story itself gripping and I needed to keep reading to find out what was going happen.
Let me just say.. I did not see this coming!
Absolutely fantastic read!
I love a domestic thriller - but this wasn’t for me! It was slow to start and it didn’t really pick up much momentum.
I didn’t like any of the characters, finding them all quite vanilla!
It kept me interested enough to finish it - but it was average at best.
I have a bit of mix feelings about this book. First of all, the pace of the first part is realy slow and a bit repetitive. Normally I like timeline changes, but I struggled just a little bit in this book to understand when happened everything.
Now, in part II the things get better! We start having some plotwists and understand more about the story. I definetly felt more eager to finish the book and started to enjoy it. Although not what I expected, I liked the ending!
After consideration, I will give it 3.75 starts out of 5!
I love a good domestic suspense/thriller and I love a good unreliable narrator, AND I love books told in alternating POVs - The Prenup checked every single one of those boxes.
Told in the perspective of 3 women - one scorned but loving wife, one relatable girl-next-door-type Hollywood starlet become mistress, and one young impressionable assistant - this story unfolds in a twisty and fun way. Just when you think you have it figured out, the plot zags and gives you a totally new little nugget. This was a quick paced and wildly entertaining ride. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the e-ARC.
I love a twisty thriller, and this one was so freaking good! Every time I thought I had something figured out, I ended up having my mind blown over how wrong I was!
I had such a hard time putting this book down! I loved that the story was told in three parts, and I really enjoyed the multiple POVs. The characters were written so well, and I wasn't always sure who I could trust. Also, the epilogue was amazing, and I loved it!
If you love twisty thrillers as much as I do, you need to read this book! I also recommend going in blind because the less you know, the better.
@arianne_richmondeauthor, thanks for writing another great book! I can't wait to see what you come up with next!
Thank you @netgalley and @bookouture for the #gifted e-arc of this book!
Bit of a spoiler alert:
I love a good story about women sticking together. So this was a hit for me for that reason. A little longer than I thought necessary and that last extra twist at the end seems a bit over the top. But I still enjoyed it well enough!
My Rating: 2.5 stars out of 5
This story had an interesting premise, and the fact that it was told from the point of view of three different women over several months should have been enough to keep the reader glued to the pages. And there were moments where I found myself doing just that; however, for the most part, I just didn't feel engaged with the story. This is down to a couple of different reasons.
To begin with, Ava and Lucas are just completely unlikeable people. You can tell right off the bat that Lucas is narcissistic and manipulative. In fact, he either lies or tries to gaslight Ava at every turn. And even though she knows this, she keeps making up reasons to stay with him. Although by the end of the book Ava had shown that she wasn't as innocent as she made herself out to be either. Now, to be fair, some of the reasoning why (at least on Ava's part) is explained at the end of the book, but by that time, I had found it to be too little, too late.
I also feel like this book could have benefitted from another round of edits to eliminate the instances where details were repeated a page or two later. And also culled out some of the unnecessary details that were given (especially in relation to the houses; we get it Ava has a lovely beachfront view with seagulls; it doesn't need to be repeated over and over).
One final thing that I feel is worth mentioning is that this author has a habit of ending nearly every chapter on a cliff-hanger. And while I assume this was done to try and keep the reader engaged and reading, I simply found it came across as the author was trying too hard. It was like they didn't even believe the story was engaging enough on its own to keep readers interested.
On the whole, while this one didn't work for me for the above named reasons, I can see where it may appeal to others.
DISCLAIMER: I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the publisher. This has not affected my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are 100% my own.
This book centers around Lucas, the perfect husband that seems to do everything to make his wife feel special in every way. However, prior to marriage, Lucas does make his wife sign a prenup as he is well off.
Fast forward to three years later and now the wife is feeling stuck in the marriage. Lucas no longer makes her feel special like he previously did. Now she wants to leave but is afraid she might not make it out.
This book starts off slow, and I mean slow. It took me a while to really get into the book, but once the pace picked up it did get better.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing with an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. First of all I ABSOLUTELY freaking loved this book. After all my time on NetGalley I believe this book is my first 5 star rating for an ARC. This book kept me entertained right from the start and I had to keep reading to find out how in the heck this would end. Just when things got really interesting, I thought "wouldn't that be absolutely amazing if the twist went in another direction" and THEN IT ABSOLUTELY FREAKING did!!!! This author did a fabulous job and this was so well written and the characters were great as well.....no wishy washy poor me syndrome......this was fabulous!!! Definitely looking for more books by this author!!! Thank you Arianne Richmonde I soooooo needed a book like this as my last several reads have only been 3 star ratings!!! Enjoy!!
Thank you to NetGalley, Arianne Richmonde, and Bookouture for an ARC copy of The Prenup.
This was my first book by Arianne Richmonde and it will definitely not be my last! The Prenup was excellent and hard to put down.
The twists and turns are delivered with finesse, with revelations that land like emotional punches. The pacing is impeccable, striking a perfect balance between suspense and character development.
I highly recommend adding the Prenup to your list of must-reads. Prepare to be engrossed, disturbed, and utterly enthralled by this chilling exploration of the dark side of marriage.
