I love a good psychological thriller! It’s a fun game to try and figure out “whodunnit” and what will happen next! I had a really difficult time following the story line jumps in the beginning, but once I figured it out, I was invested! There were a few moments I predicted (which is something I enjoy) and a few that surprised me!! If you like a quick read and a psychological thriller, this is for you!

Just awful, did not finish and feel like I’ve been mis-sold.

I chose this book because it was ‘reader recommended’ at an average 4 stars from over one hundred reviewers.

I don’t know what those reader read but this was just awful! Endless, tedious, monologues that stretch on the pages and pages, and then repeat themselves in the following chapters.

Throughout the half of the book, I did manage to read. I really struggled to connect with the main character. Her endless whingeing, and references to ‘flight or fight‘ didn’t match up to her actions. She was very much a ‘let’s decide not to decide today’ kind of person. In particular, I found it very very irritating to read.

We do get an insight into her background which wasn’t as pleasant as you’d have hoped, but that should’ve made her more determined to want better and achieve better with other peoples rubbish. Pre-nup or no pre-nup if you’re husband is cheating on you, gaslighting you, disrespecting you and you feel trapped. You should just leave.

Don’t stay for the baby, it doesn’t make any sense. The pre-nup as stated does not include the child and has nothing to do with the situation. There was no tension, no twists, no anything to keep a reader wanting to read. In fact, the only times the author seemed engaged in her narrative, was when she was talking about anything other than the main storyline!

As always, thank you to NetGalley for my advance, copy and exchange for my honest review, but unfortunately I feel completely let down by the ratings this book achieved.

3.5 stars (rounded up to 4)

The entire book felt like a giant game of cat and mouse, where I was never quite sure who was who. There are so many twists and turns - just when I thought I’d figured it out, something would happen to make me question everything. This book definitely keeps you guessing, right up until the very end.

I always love a book with multiple points of view and quick chapters. This was a good one! The plot was super interesting and the ending was unpredictable. I felt that all the loose ends tied up quite nicely. This is a new author for me, and I’m
happy to say I’m a new fan.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

REVIEW// The Prenup

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this thriller but the cover and synopsis drew me in. The story is written from a few different POVs and the time line goes back and forth a bit throughout. The characters were “meh” not my favorite, the spice was vanilla, BUT THAT ENDING THOUGH! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Makes you think “what goes around comes back around” instantly! Excited to read more from this author!

Release date is July 27, 2023- just a few days away!

Thank you @arianne_richmondeauthor, @netgalley, and @bookouture for the eARC in exchange for my honest review!

Arianne Richmonde's "The Prenup" was not my first experience with her writing, and it certainly won't be my last. I am familiar with her work, having read at least two novels written by this author. Initially, the story started off a bit slow for me as I was introduced to the characters Lucas and Ava, but my perspective changed as other individuals entered the narrative.

As I got to know Ava better, my initial eye-rolling dissipated, and I became more engrossed in the unfolding events.

Usually, I am not a fan of multiple POVs, as they can distract me from the story, and they generally confuse me. I prefer one single POV, written in first person, so i can experience the story through the avatar of the MC,

However, in this case, it worked. The author's decision to switch between different points of view kept me on my toes, constantly suspecting everyone and eager for more with each chapter's end. The way the author left us hanging at the conclusion of each chapter was masterful, making it difficult to put the book down.

While the story had a slow start, it gained momentum as it progressed. However, I did find the ending a bit rushed, and I longed for a few more details in the wrap-up. This is a general problem with this type of book, and I saw this in the author's previous work unfortunately. Hence, I will be subtracting one star from my review. Several loose ends were left unexplained, and this left me feeling somewhat unsatisfied with the overall conclusion.

Despite this minor flaw, "The Prenup" has piqued my interest in Arianne Richmonde's work, and I eagerly look forward to exploring more of her books in the future.#ThePrenup #NetGalley

“She signed the papers. Now she must pay the price. . “ Ava is three years into a marriage with a man she though was perfect. She was so sure she signed that iron-clad prenup before the wedding, but no one is as they seem in this story, and now Ava wants out.

That premise hooked me instantly and I so wanted to love this book, but it just did not deliver. The pacing was much slower than I expected. It picked up about halfway through enough for me to enjoy the ride, but I was so disappointed when I completely predicted the ‘big twist’ that was promised.

Thank you to @netgalley and @bookouture for my early copy in exchange for this review.

The description of this book sounded very good but after a slow start, I didnt think the story lived up to it.
Sadly this one isnt for me
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in return for an honest opinion

I’d like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘The Pre-Nup’ written by Arianne Richmonde in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

When Ava becomes pregnant her boyfriend Lucas’s father, a hot-shot lawyer, insists they marry to avoid a scandal and immediately brings out a pre-nup agreement which Ava isn’t keen to sign but does the following day as she loves Lucas and believes they’ll be together for ever. She has a miscarriage and loses the baby and three years later becomes pregnant again, but she’s convinced that Lucas is cheating on her.

‘The Pre-Nup’ is the first novel I’ve read by this author and as I liked the sound of it from the description I was keen to start reading. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to my expectations as the story was slow and reading it was laborious, and the characters were so unbelievably awful that I started to skim over pages. By the time I’d reached half-way I could neither work up enough enthusiasm to find out what happened nor want to and gave up altogether. I can only imagine how much time and effort goes into writing a novel and apologise that it didn’t interest me enough to want to finish0 but this is purely my own opinion and I’m sure I’ll be in the minority.

📚: The Pre-Nup by Arianne Richmonde (@arianne_richmondeauthor)
⭐️: 3.5/5 (rounding down on #goodreads)

Lucas comes across as charismatic, smooth talking, and romantic. The kind of guy that can sweep someone off their feet - like his wife Ava, who fell hard and fell fast. They married quickly, and suddenly it’s clear that there’s two sides to Lucas, and so many secrets. But what is Ava left to do, especially with that pesky pre-nup she blindly signed?

Twisty with multiple POV narratives, this book had me turning pages as quickly as I could. Minus 1.5 stars for an ending that came together with twists, but lacked the final punch that the rest of the book had.

Big thanks to @bookouture via @netgalley for the digital ARC in exchange for an honest review. The Pre-Nup is out next week on July 27th!

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion

Overview:
Ava has discovered that her husband Lucas has been cheating on her with famous actress Claudia, who Ava has admired for a long time. Pregnant and bound to their marriage by a prenup that means she gets nothing if she divorces him, Ava feels trapped. Lucas swears that he’s cut things off with Claudia and wants their marriage to work but Claudia has now been reported missing and the police suspect foul play.

My Review:
Unfortunately I really wasn’t a fan of this book and very nearly DNF’d it about half way through. I’m glad I stuck with it until the end as it did start to pick up and there were a couple of twists. I found the first half of the book really dragged with not a lot happening and although it did end with some twists it just wasn’t enough to make up for a storyline that had no real substance. I also didn’t find any of the characters likeable, including the main character Ava. There was no real depth to any of them. I’m not totally sure what the purpose of the Minnie character was in the end but there were several chapters written from her POV that didn’t seem to add much to the story.

This book was so dang good! I loved every page of this book! Rating It a 5 star for sure. This was a great book to lay around and eat a snack with because you don't want to get up to get no food to eat!

Obsessed. This was a slow burn book, that kept me guessing until the end!

Ava is a married wife, with the perfect husband, Logan. He brings her breakfast in bed, takes care of every need, and is amazing in bed. He begins to gaslight her (seemingly out of nowhere), and soon enough she is feeling like she is the crazy one. When she has to sign a prenup to marry this man, she signs willingly, but it is an awful deal for her. Love will always prevail, and she was content with the prenup -- until something HUGE happens.

Loved this book, it was suspenseful and a quick read.

This was my first read by Arianne Richmonde and I will be looking for more from her going forward. While The Prenup started slow for me with the introductions of Lucas and Ava, things changed when others entered the story. Initially, I was rolling my eyes while getting to know Ava but as the story progressed, that stopped. With each POV, I found myself suspecting everyone and loved the way the author chose to end each chapter, leaving you wanting more. While the start seemed slow, I found the ending a bit rushed and felt the story would have benefited by a few more details in wrap up. So many loose ends were unexplained and that left me feeling unsatisfied with the conclusion overall.

Many thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for this ARC. All opinions expressed are authentically mine.

Although this story was told from multiple points of view, it wasn't hard to follow along with the story. On the outside Ava and Lucas look like a great couple. but looks can be deceiving. This is a really good story.

This was a bit too slow for me. Aside from that, it was a juicy drama with thrilling twists. The hole a wife didn't quite realize she dug herself deepens and darkens.

3-3.5 stars.

Unlike many of the reviews I've seen, this book did not draw me into the story from the beginning. Divided into 3 parts, I found Part I tedious to get through. I didn't love how the character, Ava, was written and found her internal monologue to be quite repetitive. Having finished the book, I understand why the author wrote her that way, but honestly if this wasn't a book I got from Netgalley I probably would have put it down and started something else.

Part II did pick up thankfully and that's when the story started to take a turn. There is a lot of misdirection, mostly because the narrators (author) are withholding info (not quite unreliable, just omitting things in the timeline.) Speaking of timeline, it jumps around quite a bit which adds to confusion for the reader. I would have preferred something more linear, but again, the author is using this tactic to help create the twists and turns of the story.

The story was average, I didn't love the ending as it seemed kitschy, and didn't love the writing style as a whole. I think a lot of this is my personal preference so many will be probably enjoy this one quite a bit but it was just average for me.

Domestic thriller compared to Gone Girl but in Gone Girl the twists seemed to happen organically this seemed to be trying too hard to be a Gone Girl.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
We are all liars aren't we? At least that's the case for all the characters in this books. An intriguing read about a fated marriage with no trust on either side and what happens when you cross the line too many times.
The first half of the book is purely told from Ava's perspective a wife trapped in a marriage to a compulsive and manipulate husband. The 2nd half is told through the perspective of Ava and a couple of other women going back and forth filling in the blanks until the twisty although not unsurprising conclusion.
An thoroughly enjoyable read!

I find this story a bit long and drawn out. The heroine has to get married because she is pregnant and signs a pre nup in the process. It was a bit confusing with the timeline and way story was told. She was pregnant and loses it or is she currently pregnant again. It was very unclear with so many back and forth. It was difficult
to gauge when they’re talking about and not sure if writer does that to cause confusion to reader but the writer tried to merge two different storylines into one and felt so uninteresting. Halfway through the story picks up as they introduce a third character who was crucial to the plot and very interesting but they didn’t delve much into playing out her storyline but she was the husband’s personal assistant.
I did get a chance to finish this and much to my disappointment felt the ending was weak and unclear.
