I like a good friends to lovers story but it didnt' really stand out to me. Regardless, I really loved it
The banter in his book was sooo good! I think this was a slow burn done right. I loved the friendship and the chemistry the main characters have.
My favorite tropes are (1) small town and (2) friends-to-lovers. I loved that it was Maggie who was wild and carefree (and so sex positive! Thank you!!). On paper, this book was tailor made for me! Unfortunately, there was no tension here. It was clear from the first moment that Maggie and Finn had feelings for one another, they both knew they had feelings for one another, and simply decided to ignore it. There are no stakes there, no little moments to giggle and kick your feet over, which is what I love most about a friends-to-lovers.
This wasn't unenjoyable, it was just too straight forward and the characters fell a little flat to me.
This book was, just as the others in the series, a blast to read. Normally I'm not really into friends to lovers. It's not really my favorite trope, but when it's done well, I can really enjoy it. And this one was done well!
It is the perfect summer read, and I loved the way how the author slowly let the characters fall in love with each other (or more realize that they have been in love all along).
And o my, the spice was amazing! That's is absolute one of the best things of friends to lovers, because they know each other so well, but the start to learn each other all over again.
And the dirty talk? GIMME ME MORE! The chemistry between Maggie and Finn was truly wonderful and maybe this was my favorite couple, even though I am not a great fan of the trope? That says it all, don't you think?
A perfect book in this series and an absolute must read for the upcoming summer!
Thank you to Netgally, the publishers, and Melanie Munton
When I requested this book I was unaware that it was apart of a series, one that requires you to read the previous books for this one to make sense. I am unable to read all the previous books along with this one before the publish date. Therefore, I will rate this a fair 3/5 stars and will adjust the rating and review when I am able to read all the books in the series along with this one.
3.5
ive really enjoyed this series so far!! this was so cute. finn and maggie were so worth the wait for book 3 😭🩷
I really appreciated how Maggie was such a strong headed woman who definitely took no sh*t from anyone and the sex positivity, as well as the wonderful group of friends and all the fun banter. So if you enjoy really steamy stories with dirty talks and obsessive alpha males This one is for you
Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for this arc. I didn't like the characters and I found story interesting.
I enjoyed this book, but the characters fell a little flat. I knew they were in love, they knew they were in love, so I just didn't see a real obstacle here. It was a good, casual weekend read, though!
Friends to lovers, all the spice. Small town romance. What more could you want?! Loved it. Thanks netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this!
Thank you to NetGalley, Melanie Munton and The Publisher for giving me the opportunity to receive an ARC in exchange for my honest review. This was book 3 in the Shell Grove Series. It's a great summer read with a friends to lovers trope and some 🌶️🌶️🌶️. I think this is a great book fulfills the High School sweetheart dreams we all love! I definitely recommend this book and look forward to more Melanie Munton books.
This book had me hooked in the beginning. I did start to lose interest though and I couldn't connect with the two characters. It seemed like it was all about her life in the beginning but very much just facts and not a story in my opinion. I hope others enjoy this book it was a dnf for me. My review will only be posted on here. Thank you to netgalley, the author and the publisher for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC. This was a cute read. I really enjoyed it and want to go back and read the other 2 in the series. This was the first book i've ready by this author. The title should make everyone want to read it. LOL
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC to read in exchange for my honest review!
Reasons Why Not To Date The Best Friends is the cutest lil small town, friends to lovers book for your TBR! I loved it so much and I thoroughly enjoyed how sweet it was mixed with the spice. When that happens, I always explain it as "hallmark but with a touch of spice."
The characters had amazing banter and had me laughing through the whole book. Maggie and Finn were the perfect friends and it was clear from the get go they were always meant to be more.
I can't recommend this book enough to someone who is looking for a quick, cute read with all the spice!!
4/5 stars
2.5/5 spice
Finn and Maggie are best friends, and have been for over a decade. As it often happens, people grow up and can grow apart. Neither Finn nor Maggie want that to happen, despite the changes and opportunities presented to them, that could potentially change their relationship forever.
I liked the dynamic between the two so much. It was endearing and I loved that neither wanted to change the other. The story starts a little slow, but once I’d gotten more into the book I devoured it. The writing is fun, and the relationships feel organic. While we hope we know how the book ends, I was pleasantly surprised by how it got there. There wasn’t an insurmountable conflict and the resolution was a little more creative.
I would definitely recommend to my fellow romcom junkies.
this was a fun book to read and im glad i got to read it thanks for letting me read this book it was a first by this author
I received a free copy of How to Win a Breakup from Netgalley and Melanie Munton in exchange for an honest review.
Reasons Why Not to Date the Best Friend is the third book in the Shell Grove romance series. I adored the first two books and now this third one has lived up to all the hype I gave it in my mind. Munton’s characters are full and complete humans, and they are so funny.
Date the Best Friend is a childhood friends-to-lovers romance that has been built in the background the two previous novels. Finally, we get the payoff: a who novel focuses on the hilarious best friends Finn and Maggie. Their romance is fiery, cute, and ultimately satisfying to the reader.
I think it’s important to note that this series is quite spicy, too, so if you’re looking for some good spice let me tell you: you’ve found it.
This was a fun weekend read! I loved the setting near the ocean and the storyline with the turtles. It definitely was a bit predictable but it was still enjoyable to read. Thank you!
I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.
I really enjoyed this book. I wasn't sure if it would be my cup of tea, but I loved the tropes and the storyline. The characters were great and I grew to really love them.
