Based on Disney’s video game of the same name, Mirrorverse: Pure of Heart puts Snow White front and center and surrounds her with a plethora of Disney characters to help Snow defeat the evil queen. If you are a Disney fan, this book will be more likely to appeal to you, however if you aren’t, you might want to pass on this traditional good versus evil fantasy. Even being a Disney fan, it was a little jarring (albeit comical) to find the characters’ worlds coming together–Sully, Stitch, Mickey Mouse, Tiana and others all play important roles together in the story. Also a bit unorthodox was how Snow became the strong warrior, when her traditional Disney persona is more of a helpless weakling. All in all, I did enjoy listening to this tale and found humor in the various scenarios and adventures this crew endured.
I really enjoyed this twist on Snow White. Now I should start by saying that Snow White is on of my least favorite Disney princesses because she is just so innocent and love sick. This book takes those main characteristics and makes them minor parts. Snow grows into a character who can stand on her own. I loved all the crosses between different Disney storylines. I’m very interested in where this series is headed.
A twisted version of Snow White. Her friends attack her and then Stellar Sorcerer Mickey shows up and asks her to join a team of guardians to save the world. I loved the cover and the entire book just screamed Kingdom Hearts vibes which I was super excited about. I love the team, it was fun to watch the members show up and get introduced. It was based off a video game, but I did not feel lost everything was explained well. It was fast paced and scary, but not too scary that you would frighten little kids. I look forward to the rest of the series and will probably be picking up the video game.

This book was a pass for me. It wasn't bad, but I had higher hopes for it. The narrator did a very good job of trying to sound like some of the Disney characters, like Snow White and Mickey. To me, the writing and plotting was very juvenile at times, especially for a young adult book. There were things that I thought should have been explained better, such as how did the other Guardians end up fighting the Fractured? I felt at times as though I had jumped into a story directly in the middle, rather than reading the first book in a series. The prospect of the book was very interesting to me, but I felt as though it was rather poorly executed. Maybe the sequel will better though. Thank you to Disney books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book!
What an amazing new concept. Just when I think I could not love Disney anymore they come out with something new! This book is great for those who like Disney anything, fantasy, and are into the gaming world. Your favorite beloved Disney characters are so much more in this book than in the movies. You get feel their emotions and internal anguish. I am just awed by the narrator of this novel, she does such an excellent job with all the character voices its amazing. She deserves an award she does Mickey Mouse and Snow White's voice perfectly, and not to mention all the other characters too. I would really like to deep dive more into the Mirrorverse and see how this Disney arc ends.
I love this new twist on an old story! I think a lot of people are going to enjoy this style of fan fiction. What a cool universe Delilah has created!
🍎Plot: A tale of Snow White that is familiar, but different. Snow White is endowed with magical powers she must learn to control before a dark force takes over her friends and home.
🍎Review: A new, dark-ish twist on familiar Disney characters is a refreshing reading coming from the world of Disney. Young readers who enjoy the Mirrorverse game will be a fan of this new series. In fact, young readers can play the game while listening to this delightful audiobook version.
Thank you to Disney Press for the ARC. I really enjoyed this retelling of Snow White. The Evil Queen is at it again and she has kidnapped the Seven Dwarfs. Snow recruits a gang of warriors from all the different realms to help her get her friends back, including one Villain. Disney fans will love all the characters in this story.
I received this as an audiobook from NetGalley and I was hooked from the very beginning. It was amazing from start to finish and we already have it on order at my library. Mickey is the Sorcerer and he is in charge of creating the teams. Snow White teams up with Rapunzel, Stitch, Sully, Hades and Tiana on this quest to stop Snow White's home and forest from being taken over. Snow White is known for her sweet and quiet side and this journey shows her strength! They have to rescue the seven dwarfs. The journey and the battles they faced seemed so real in the book. It was very well done and I really hope that we will be getting more teams and more adventures. The reader did a fantastic job reading all the voices and you knew which character was speaking. I will be recommending this book over and over again to our patrons.
This book was more cheesy that I expected. I’m not sure I liked it, but I think a younger audience would. The characters are classic Disney and Pixar friends, and they are fun and interesting to experience the story with. I liked the familiarity of each character, and I was happy with the storyline. I think it would be a well loved read aloud with an elementary or middle school audience— or someone who loves the Kingdom Hearts game.
This book is a 3 1/2 stars for me. It took me a minute to wrap my head arrow d the mirror verse, but I think if you look outside of the normal scope of these stories it is an interesting way to explore more of well loved characters. It provides opportunities to see all of our favorites to interact together. It’s a bit of the Hunger Games meets Disney. I would think this is a great book for late elementary and higher thought stating that.
What happens when Disney characters are dropped into a world full of darkness that enhances their traits? Well first of all you get a mix of a bunch of random Disney characters together that don’t make a lot of sense.
This book is based on a mobile game called Disney Mirrorverse. When I picked up this book, I had heard of the game but never played it. As I started listening I decided to give the game a try to help me embrace the world a little more. There were a few things that th game helped me to visualize that would eventually be described in the book, but overall I don’t think it’s really needed to understand the book.
The book itself reads a little like a litrpg which makes a little sense since it is based on a video game. It by no means is a full fledged litrpg but does remind me of them. It really reminds me of Kingdom hearts with this darkness we’re battling and meeting all these Disney characters. In fact, I’ve read all the Kingdom Hearts light novels and it reads very much like one of those.
The story itself did t do it for me. I thought Snow White was annoying because she’s too sweet and having so many Disney characters that are nothing alike felt a little jarring. I didn’t feel like the plot had a whole lot going on so I was bored some of the time. I think it fits well for the mobile game but wasn’t my favorite in a book. The narrator was fine and encapsulated Snow sweet innocence well which made her even more annoying.
This was a cute story for any Disney fan. The story takes place in a Mirrorverse so the characters that we have known from the Disney stories in the past aren't necessarily the ones that we are seeing now. Mickey is the head of the Guardians. Their job is to go searching for the fractured mirror that is wrecking havoc across the realms. I think this book would be good for younger or middle grade readers. The writing is a little choppy in places but overall, the story is well developed. The audiobook was very nicely narrated. I would recommend this for students/children that have reading difficulties.
A very cute story starring Snow White based on the Disney Mirrorverse role-playing application. Snow White's forest is changing, and not for the better. One day, after helping a fawn in the woods, Snow White returns back to her cottage home that she shares w/ the 7 dwarves to find them gone. However, 7 little "fractured" copies of them are lying in wait to harm her. Snow White finds that she can easily and inexplicably defeat these evil monsters. With help from Stellar Sorcerer Mickey and the Guardians, Tiana, Rapunzel, Sulley, Stitch and even Hades, Snow White travels to the castle of her stepmother, the evil queen, to find the Dark Mirror and put her world back to rights. Seems like this is going to be a cool new YA series!
*Special thanks to Netgalley and Disney Media for this audio arc.*
