Absolutely loved this.beautiful.loved the characters and plot.well written and I didn’t find any typos that were noticeable.I even really loved the cover picture.
This romance is as sweet as they come. Set in the 1970's during the Vietnam War, Grace & Levi fall head over heals but have to work through some things to get their HEA. I really liked this story. If you are looking for clean romance, this is a great one. You can read this as a stand alone for sure even though it is number 9 in a series.
I am typically not a fan of a third act break up but Shanna did hers right. Levi needed that time and it made sense for the character. It was were the story had been leading us since their first interaction. I appreciated this about the book.
A sweet love story between a Vietnam war veteran and a nurse, “Lucky Shot”, by Shanna Hatfield (Wholesome Hearts Publishing), is an interesting incursion into the 70s, showcasing the differences between this historical period and the present.
I enjoyed the details about the period and how they were incorporated into the story.
Levi and Grace are great characters, easily relatable and lovable. There’s vibrancy and zest for life in both that is very appealing
Levi is a great hero: wounded but kind, earnest and sweet. His love for his family and farm and patriotism coexist with the psychological and physical wounds he’s nursing.
He feels broken sometimes and the war memories and experiences still haunt him; and he’s trying to adapt to a new reality doing things differently because of his injuries.
I liked Grace’s determination and spunk and how she’s so practical and supportive of Levi.
The romance is sweet, but intense, with the added drama of Levi’s issues.
I enjoyed the families and friends of both leads.
I felt that sometimes Levi’s injured hand was forgotten when one would expect it to be noticed.
Lucky Shot by Shanna Hatfield is part of the Pink Pistol Sisterhood Series. This series by various writer follows a pink pistol thought to be first owned by Annie Oakley. If you open yourself to love this pistol will help you find it. This is the second story by Ms. Hatfield in the story with loose ties to her first book who is a distant past relative of Grace Marshall, the heroine of this book. However, each book in the series is stand-alone.
This was simply an amazing read. I enjoyed every single moment that I was reading Lucky Shot. Taking place during the Vietnam War era this story brought so many memories back for me. It is very true to life here in America during that time. I laughed when Levi said he would rather not eat rice now because we have a friend who says the same thing to this day after being a soldier in the war.
I recommend highly this faith-based, accurate romance. Lucky Shot was a right on target book which I enjoyed reading from the first word to the very last word.
The publisher through Net Galley provided a complimentary digital copy. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts.
