I am a Josie Silver fan and this book did not disappoint. Cute story and extremely likeable characters.
A Winter in New York by Josie Silver is a wonderful read. This story was cute and maybe a little cheesy at times. To me, it read more like a lit fic than a fluffy romance. I thought the pacing was great. I liked the cozy vibes, closed door scenes, found-family aspect, New York setting. And yummy Gelato! I love this author and will continue to read anything she writes.
This book captivated me from the very first page. Its rich storytelling kept me hooked until the very end. The characters were so well-developed that I felt like I knew them personally. Highly recommended!
This was a fun holiday read I loved reading about NY in the winter while I was missing NYC I loved the search for more information on to what her mother loved so much about NY. I love when I can loose myself in a good romance
A book about a woman leaving her abusive partner and then having a meet cute with another *nice* guy who she's most definitely probably meant to be with... sign me up. The setting is wonderful, the cute meet-cute is adorable, and overall this is your typical good romance, right?
But of course, there's a lot of miscommunication--and that's where my ratings went down a bit. Iris decides to not tell Gio about her past relationship, and that the jerk who abused her may be stalking her. Mkay. I disagree with her not telling him. But then a huge section of the book is about how honest Gio is, he hates lies, he would never be with someone who lies... so all of the tension is about Iris keeping a secret, when really she never needs to! It just got a little, too much?
Again, this was cute, it was decent, it just wasn't my favorite. It does end happily, as promised from a winter-rom like this one.
Loved the characters and the New York setting which is one of my favorite places. I am hungry for gelato and can't wait to go back and visit. This book was so much more than a holiday read. I loved it. So much more depth for your average rom-com.
I adored this book! Josie Silver has never let me down. I definitely cried a couple of times.
The characters were my favorite part. I loved the way Iris and Gio met, and then the follow up random meeting months later after the initial debacle. They had both experienced their own traumas in life that led them to be hesitant towards relationships and opening up, which made me love watching their friendship unfold into love even more. Also, Italian families seem like a blast! I loved the whole family and their loud personalities. If any want to adopt me and fill me up with carbs while being hilarious, I'm game!
The other characters I loved were Bobby and Robin. They seem like the best friends/neighbors/boss/landlords ever! Everyone needs a Bobby in their life after they've been through the ringer like Iris.
This book was so much more than a holiday read. I read it in the month of February and it was perfect. It's full of heart, beautiful relationships, growth, healing after loss, and supporting those you love. I highly recommend it!
A Winter in New York was my first read of the New Year. I loved the characters (maybe not one) and the setting in New York so much. It placed me right in NYC during my favorite season in the city. The back story of the parents made this romance a deeper read than a rom com. It added depth to the story and I really enjoyed how it all unfolded. I highly recommend this book, especially during the colder months of the year. I am hungry for gelato now.
Iris is in New York visiting the places that her mom went to in her past. Upon stepping foot into a gelato store which has no gelato - Iris meets Gio who doesn’t have the family recipe and the one person that does can’t find it. Iris realizes she has the recipe, but can’t betray her mother by giving it to them. However, Iris offers her services as a chef.
This was a lovely tale of love, connection, family and trust.
Thank you #NetGalley for the advance copy!
If you're a foodie and you love a good slow burn this book is for you. Iris and Gio were so fun to read. The amount of gelato recipes made me want to either learn how to make gelato for myself, or more likely find the closest local shop! Iris holds the secret gelato recipe that Gio needs to keep his shop afloat, as her mother is the only person who can remember the recipe and has given it to Iris. Iris has sworn to keep the recipe a secret and throughout the book grows increasingly guilt ridden over the secret. I didn't love how long Iris held onto her stubbornness over the secret and found myself wishing she would've told Gio sooner. But all in all this is a cozy holiday romance with so many feels.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC.
Iris’s tie to her late mother is her tried and true gelato recipe. When Iris stumbles upon the gelato’s origin shop and finds that the top secret recipe is missing, she’s stuck between a rock and a hard place.
A sweet rom com mixed with coming of age story. Join Iris as she finds herself and love!
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group for the ARC in exchange for a fair review.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Receiving an advanced copy was a delightful surprise. I believe both existing fans and newcomers will find it equally enjoyable.
A Winter in New York is a holiday romance that has lots of great elements to warm your holiday spirits. While the book isn't my favourite Josie Silver novel, it will still appeal to fans looking for a cozy winter romance novel. The book combines aspects of food, found family, and a New York city romance. I am looking forward to finding out what the author has in store for us next!
Such a cute and light hearted holiday read. I apologize that I am just getting to this now but I absolutely loved curling up and reading this after the holidays. It was such a cute rom-com and I loved the slow-burn romance. It gave Hallmark movie vibes without being too cheesy and it was super cute. The main character was a little too stubborn for my liking but then again, so am I so who am I to complain too much. Overall, it was a really cute book!
This is the third book I have read by this author. A Winter in New York is a cute story, but to me a few side stories seemed undeveloped and unnecessary. I have loved some books by this author. This one wasn't my favorite. It felt like things were lacking or missing.
A Winter in New York by Josie Silver tells the story of Iris, who has just moved to New York City following the death of her mother and getting out of a terrible relationship. The book starts out with a bookstore meet cute and is full of family secrets, holiday vibes, laugh-out-loud moments, and the work of overcoming immense grief. I thought that the first half of this book was a little slow but it picked up and is worth keeping with it. An overall heartwarming story with a nice romance.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest thoughts.
Oh my goodness can I give this 10 stars?! I adored this book!!! Seriously my favorite by this author and one of my top favorites of all time!
A winter in New York was a very cute romance with a sprinkle of spice. Iris leaves London to make a new life in New York. It is begins to find out more of her mom and her past. She meets gio along the way, and tries to help him and his family get there gelato recipe back to normal. Little does gio know the family ties she has with him. Iris’s past continues to come to light, and she attempts to leave new York but love wins! Gio and Iris have a wonderful love story.
Thank you to Netgalley and Random House-Dell for the eARC! I love Josie Silver's books and was ecstatic to receive an early review copy. This book did not disappoint! the holiday atmosphere in New York, the charming gelato shop in Little Italy - it provided such cozy vibes and that lovely holiday feeling. I liked Iris' growth and her slow-burn romance with Gio was incredibly sweet. I didn't love the miscommunication trope, but it didn't ruin the story by any means. A cute, slow-burn, holiday read!
Iris is thrust into a lonesome world after the death of her mother. Deciding on giving NY a try, she moves into the city. She makes friends and stumbles upon a Gelato shop and finds similarities to her mother's past. And then meets Gio.
Many thanks to Random House Publishing Group and Net Galley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
