Now You See It by Carol Perry was my first book of hers- I loved the very fall vibe of the book summary and it did not disappoint. Lee is excited for a new role working on a Salem exhibition but a murder causes her to leap head first into investigating with her husband, police officer Pete. This was a fast read for me- I loved the scenery, the main character was so likeable and it was a fun cozy. I definitely want to read more of the stories in this series. I love stories where you’d like to be friends with the main characters. If you’re looking for a fun, fall read, look no further!

I was so happy to get an ARC copy of this book! With the new series Carol J Perry is putting out, I was worried this cast of characters had seen it's last crime. Needless to say, hip hip hooray for another one. This one sees Lee covering the new museum about to open, for WICH-TV. The armored truck driver ends up murdered and expensive pieces have turned up missing. Obviously, Lee, her Aunt Liby and the rest of the angels are working their angles while Pete does his cop thing as well.
I was able to guess "whodunnit" but not how it was done. A fun and engaging story worth picking up. Thank you Netgalley, for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the 13th book in the Witch City Mystery series and I was very surprised to find that I had not read a single one. I pick up books about witches quite a bit so I don't know how I've been missing these. This one was easy to read as a stand alone, but I'll have to go back and read through the others when I get a chance. This one was a fun cozy.
Description:
Marriage isn’t the only thing new in Lee Barrett’s life when she’s tasked with a hauntingly dangerous assignment in her job as program director for Salem, Massachusetts’s local station, WICH-TV . . .
Just married, Lee and her husband, Detective Sergeant Pete Mondello, are settling into their new home when Lee is dubbed WICH-TV’s new “Historical Documentary Chief Executive.” Her first subject is the brand-newSalem International Museum, slated to be a location for traveling blockbuster exhibits, starting with “Seafaring New England.” From research to collecting artifacts of Salem’s long-ago days as a shipping capital, the project is a challenge—but when the driver of a truckload of antiquities turns up dead under a pile of fall leaves, it’s not quite the kind of challenge Lee expected . . .
Soon, Lee and Pete are dredging up clues along with a hardy crew of helpers, including Lee’s librarian aunt, Ibby, Lee’s best friend and practicing witch, River North—and of course the clairvoyant cat, O’Ryan. But when a ship model in the exhibit’s collection appears to be haunted, Lee will have to dive into her own treasure trove of psychic gifts before a killer comes to the surface to strike again . . .
My thoughts:
Let me first say that I like the characters of both Lee and her husband, Pete. They seem to make a good team and truly care about each other. O'Ryan steals the show with his amazing skills - gotta love a good cat in the picture. I liked the museum setting and the 'Seafaring New England' theme with the diverse items being shown and the blending of some of that history into the story.
Thanks to Kensington Books through Netgalley for an advance copy. This book will be published on September 26, 2023.

Book 13 in the series A Witch City Mystery has Lee getting another hat at her job! While book 13 could definitely be read as a standalone novel, I don't think you'd want to miss out on the small story progressions within the other books.
Now You See It did read a little slow for me. It felt like the end of the book was a tad bit rushed as we were mostly focused on a new museum setup with a murder that happened and things that we're going missing. However, I did absolutely enjoy that this ending to the book was different from what we normally experience in a cozy murder mystery, and within this series. Also the plot line for the new characters introduced was wonderfully written and I hope we get to see them again.
Small plot spoiler ahead:
I found that Aunt Ibby breaking her leg to be a bit unneeded for any story progression. While I did enjoy the suspense it added momentarily to the book it felt unnecessary to drive the story forward.
4.5/5 stars
I highly still recommend this author and the series!
3.5 stars
This is a nice addition to the series. I haven't read all the prior books, but this could be read as a standalone novel. I really enjoy the setting and cast of characters. It's a quick read with enjoyable, quirky characters. If you enjoy cozy mysteries with a touch of the paranormal, this is a good book to check out.
Now You see it is the 13th book in this series, but could be read as a stand alone. Newlywed Lee Barrett works for a local tv station and her newest assignment is to film a documentary of the brand new Salem international museum. A truck driver making deliveries to the museum is murdered, and police have no motive and no suspects. Lee quickly becomes involved in helping her husband Pete, (who's a cop) find a killer. This was a fun quick read, with some quirky characters. a clairvoyant cat, and quite a few red herrings.
I enjoy this series because I like the characters and the authors writing style but this book was a bit of a slow read for me. I think that’s because so much of the story was spent covering the new museum being set up. However, I still recommend it for fans of the series.
Lee Barrett Mondello is excited about her newest assignment for WICH-TV – doing a documentary about the new Salem International Museum which will feature several exhibits about Salem’s past. Her excitement, however, is dimmed when a driver of a truckload of antiques is murdered. Lee’s husband, Detective Sergeant Pete Mondello, is on the case but Lee - along with the help of her aunt and friends, a vision or two, and her clairvoyant cat, O’Ryan – is there to help. But will they be able to handle the truth when it is revealed?
Set in Salem, Massachusetts, “Now You See It” is the nicely done thirteenth book in Carol J. Perry’s Witch City cozy mystery series. I love everything about this series – from the Salem setting to Lee and her relationship with Pete and her aunt to her ability to see things in mirrors to O’Ryan the cat who has powers of his own. The concept of the new museum is a great one – I wish it existed in real life because it sounds like a wonderful place to visit if it were real! The mystery itself was well done – truthfully I found it pretty easy to figure out who the killer was but there were still some surprises in the book and even though I figured out some things I did find the solution to be sad.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley.
Lee is given yet another hat to wear in her job at WICH-TV. She’s excited to be doing a documentary about a new exhibit that is coming to the new museum in Salem. With treasures and history on display, there’s a lot for Lee to share with her viewers. But with a murder connected to the display items, and some funny things going on, Lee has to decide whether the museum is haunted, or a human is Behind all that has happened.
Can lee and Pete work together without compromising their respective careers? After all, they have formed the intimate partnership when they became husband and wife. Only time, and a murderer, will tell how this one ends up.
Another fabulous entry int his series. Seriously, I adore this series and CANNOT get enough of it! O’Ryan and aunt Libby add the extra sauce to this series now that Lee and Pete are living in their own home. Marriage didn’t make this series end, it created some new ways to keep the spark going!
Carol Perry's "Witch City" series is one of my favorites and she doesn't disappoint in this new entry. The book opens with newlyweds Lee and Pete getting used to married life, and Lee experiencing some change in her professional life. She's tapped to make a documentary about a new international seafaring museum opening up in Salem.
Of course, there's a murder involved, paired with some high-stakes theft and intrigue which Lee handles with her usual sass and wit. Old favorites are back - the news station crew, Aunt Ibby and her investigator friends, and, of course, O'Ryan. Fans of the series will blow through this in a couple hours.
The thirteen book in the Witch City Mystery series finds Lee Barrett married and enjoying it. When her job sends her to cover a traveling museum that shows life in early New England, murder occurs. Of course Lee sets out to find the culprit along with O'Ryan her cat. The cat is an awesome character full of sass. A fun mystery with great characters. Thanks #Netgalley and #Kensington for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.
"Now You See It" by Carol J. Perry is the 13th book to the "Witch City Mystery" series. I felt it was fairly standalone to read but I would probably have been more invested innit if I'd read the previous books in the series. The mystery was good, though I had it figured out pretty quickly. Did a little "but maybe....." occasionally but never really steered away from my original thinking.
For those unfamiliar with the series, its a very tiny bit paranormal. The main character sees visions in reflective images and theres your standard Salem, Massachusetts supernatural stuff. However, it's not key to the story or even really a central driving theme really. Its more of the connecting theme between books. Gotta love the cat though. So sassy.
#NowYouSeeIt #NetGalley is the latest addition to this series by Carol J. Perry.
Lee Barrett is enjoying life as Mrs. Pete Mondello, and being a newlywed is everything she hopes it would be.
While adjusting to married life, Lee is also looking forward to her latest assignment at WICH-TV, the Salem news station. Lee's new assignment is Seafaring New England, A
a traveling museum that portrays life in the early years.
When a murder takes place, Lee can't help but get involved, along with her Aunt Ibby, her cat O'Ryan and the rest of the colorful characters in this series.
This is an entertaining mystery that kept me reading from beginning to end.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.
The last novel in this series was good but not up to the usual standard even if it closed some subplots.
This is one is excellent, gripping and twisty. There's plenty of surprises and I thoroughly enjoyed it even if I guess some twists.
It's always a pleasure to catchup with Lee, Mondello, The Angels and O'Ryan, one of my fav cozy cats.
The atmosphere and history of Salem plays a relevant role and this story made me wish I could travel again to the Witchy City.
An entertaining, gripping and compelling novel.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
I enjoyed this book. I really liked all the investigating Lee and the book club do. The details of their life’s is excellent, I feel like I know them. I wish there was an museum show like that here, I’d definitely go. The only this I didn’t like was that they kept referring to professor Sant Bidani as that Indian guy, which felt a bit racist. #NowYouSeeIt #NetGalley
Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of NOW YOU SEE IT (Book 13 of the Witch City Mysteries) by Carol J. Perry in exchange for an honest review. The owner of WICH-TV asks Lee Barrett, now Mondello, to take on additional responsibility by becoming the “Historical Documentary Chief Executive.” Lee’s new role will have her filming a documentary about the development about Salem’s new international museum, which will host popular traveling exhibits. The first exhibit is “Seafaring New England.” Of course, it starts with a murder. With the usual assistance of Aunt Ibby, River North, and the enigmatic O’Ryan, Lee will do her best to help her new husband catch the killer.
I liked this book and enjoy the series. I recommend this book to fans of the series. I recommend the series to fans of paranormal cozy murder mysteries featuring local television and broadcasting themes.

This is the thirteenth novel, but it’s still going strong with every book that comes along. Each one of the overall lives of the characters move on with major milestones and don’t stagnate which I love. O’Ryan gets to shine a little more in this one, too, which I enjoyed. I’m a little sad that Lee and Pete are living apart from her aunt, but that would probably be a little weird if they did live together. This was a fun mystery just like the books before even if the mystery was a little more convoluted than normal. All in all, this was a great addition to the series, and I hope there are at least thirteen more. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Love this series! In this novel, Lee gets a promotion to produce a documentary. It works out well, as she's no longer reporting on cases her police detective husband is investigating....until a series of crimes occur throwing a wrench into the works. Lee starts to look into the crimes, even as her husband is officially investigating. What follows is a well crafted mystery that had me turning pages just as quickly as possible. Additionally, I loved how the cat's role has expanded and how he put his input into the case.
If you enjoy your mysteries with a pit of paranormal, you will love this book. The author is on my must read authors' list.
I love Carol J. Perry's books and book 13 in the Witch City Mystery series is another great addition! LOVE the cover!
TV news exec, Lee and her new hubby, Pete are getting used to married life and their new home when Lee gets a promotion and immediately gets to work on her next production; a story about the new Salem Internationa Museum. Lee is busy researching her show when a dead body turns up in a pile of leaves. The man was transporting a load of antiquities when he disappeared. Lee, Pete (who’s also a cop), and the cast of the Witch City series, including a librarian, a local witch, and a cat with special powers are on the case. And do they really have a haunted exhibit at the museum? Great fun for fans of the series as well as new readers
