One of the best ones out of this series! A highly enjoyable historical mystery! I found it entertaining and I could not put it down! I would recommend this series to any historical mystery lover and will be placing the first one on my book club list.
5 stars
The continuation of mysteries between Rosalind, a woman with links to the asristocracy and ton and Adam a bow street runner from a poor background. The romance between the two is building. Rosalind and Alice's maid finds an old friend collapsed and she rescues her. Rosalind realising she's been poisoned goes to see Cate's family and finds her aunt is in an even poorer state. She needs to solve who is poisoning Marianne and why. Good story. I think I might need to read books 1 -5.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I have enjoyed this regency mysteries by Ms. Wilde. This next novel in her regency era series was a delightful read and more growth for the characters. Another mystery to solve for Rosalind Thorne to solve with help from her Bow Street boyfriend, Adam Harkness and her talented writer friend Alice Littlefield. Rosalind has proven herself a useful woman, one who helps those women with their problems discretely. She knows how to work within society and gather information. This new "job" has Rosalind keeping a few secrets, for she does not know who the culprit is and does not want to risk her hand. However, there is more going on and Rosalind needs to sort it all out. Rosalind needs to figure out her relationship with Adam, since once a woman marries, she no longer "exists" and she loses her independence.
I received this novel from net galley and the publisher as an ARC. Thank you! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Another solid historical mystery from Wilde. I did occasionally feel like modern sensibilities crept into the story, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the twists and turns of the plot and also watching the interactions between Rosalind and Adam. Recommended for series fans; not the best place to start for new readers.
I am a HUGE fan of Darcie Wilde and the Rosalind Thorne series.
This one started slow but halfway through it took off like a freight train! I highly recommend starting with the beginning of the series but it is not necessary. Great story.
I just reviewed The Secret of the Lady's Maid by Darcie Wilde. #TheSecretoftheLadysMaid #NetGalley
