Thank you Bloom Books and Netgalley for the ARC.
The way I would DIE if I was kidnapped by this man. Like y'all would not rescue me. I would be deceased. I would be missing and never found!!! Thank you.
Stolen Heir is a mafia romance centered around Polish mafia boss Miko's revenge plot which leads him to kidnapping Irish mafia princess Nessa and keeping her locked within his vampiric mansion.
The plot is fuelled by Miko's revenge but becomes a story about growth and breaking free of your expected roles. I absolutely loved how the growth was written and how the families didn't quite put their differences aside but did the best they could to support the relationship. However, I felt that the relationship between the main characters could have been included more. It felt as if they had only interacted a few times and suddenly knew everything about each other and were completely head over heels for one another. I'm not typically a huge fan of insta-love.
The book contained both a musical score and images to go along with several scenes. I loved this and the added immersion it created.

Mafia dark romance
Beauty and the beast retelling
Enemies to lovers
Professional ballerina
Opposites attract
“Touch her and die”
The writing is really stilted int he beginning. Maybe it’s the dual first person POV. And it’s needlessly repetitive. Something said in chapter 2 is almost verbatim in chapter 6.
The monotonous replay of a specific scene in the other POV in first person isn’t interesting, it’s boring.
The characters are under developed. There is such potential, but their character arcs are rushed and their relationship arc hardly goes beyond Stockholm syndrome. Their on page interactions are very few, making their relationship seem very immature. There is very little on page tension because they hardly ever interact.
But it was a quick and easy read.
Thank you NetGalley and Bloom Books/Sourcebooks for an Advanced Reader Copy of the ebook in return for an honest review.
I voluntarily read an advanced copy of Stolen Heir by Sophie Lark. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books for this ARC.
First, I need to share that there are some definite trigger warnings. There is a ton of violence, some of it perpetrated by the main characters. No one is overly ethical, and there are some serious crimes committed. Crimes that would not be at all romantic in real life. I have found that this is pretty normal for any Mafia-themed romance. I enjoyed Mikolaj's story arc. Out of the two leads, he had a more layered character arc. Nessa was likable, but I wish she had more depth. I am not always a fan of female leads whose character flaw is they are too cheerful and nice. I give this book a solid 3/5.

"I was a corpse when I met you. No breath. No heart. No life. I felt nothing. I care about nothing. Then I saw you, and you woke me up inside."
i didn't like this as much as the first one, but it still wasn't bad.
i liked Nessa but i wished she would fight more. i mean girl, he fucking kidnapped you. FIGHT, literally do ANYTHING!!
the book was slow and i didn't really start enjoying it until i was 50/55% which is sad as i'm usually a Sophie Lark girl. i still really enjoyed the second half of the book tho.
miko wasn't anything special either, i've read a lot of other characters who are very, very similar to him, so he didn't stand out.
Wow, what a ride that was.
Stolen Heir by S. Lark, published by Sourcebooks Bloom Books, is the scond book in the BBirthright Series.
Mikolaj is a mob member, driven by revenge, tit for tat is his motto he lives for.
Nessa is just a means to get his revenge on people who wronged him, but he didn't expect her to be herself.
A dark enemies-to-lovers mafia read that had me in suspense from staert til the last page, literally unputdownable.
Beauty & the Beast vibes are my favorite and this one had it in spades. I loved almost everything about Stolen Heir and the artwork was a *very* nice touch!
Sophie Lark can do no wrong with mafia romance!!!!! I absolutely loved Stolen Heir, and need more mafia in my life!!! Captivated from start to finish and already missing the characters !!!! The execution of the plot as always was beautifully done!!!
when is a hot as sin mafia man gonna kidnap me?! This series of books just keeps getting better and better. I really enjoyed the enemies to lovers throughout this book and the way Nessa and Mikos relationship grows! Modern beauty and the beast retelling that has lots of spice and twists!
This was my second ever Sophie Lark book and you could say that I became a big fan!!
Stolen Heir is a beauty and the beast inspired dark romance with an alpha-hole mc and a ballerina fmc.
Could you say that Nessa developed Stockholm Syndrome? Yeah, I think so 🫠 but this is the reason we only like dark mafia romances when they are fictional 😅
I loved all the protectiveness of the men but also the sheer sweetness of the love story!!
I will definitely read more of Sophie Lark’s books in the future!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Loved this one more than the first book! The main characters seemed opposite to each other but guess that’s how the saying goes. Can’t wait to read the next one. 4/5 stars - 3/5 smuttness
I LOVED Miko’s character. The level of depth we got with him (especially given that he’s not a member of the core families) was amazing. Sophie had me hating him and rooting for him at the same time! I did like Nessa and believed their relationship, but wish there would have been elements of her characterization that were more believable. She had moments of “I’m a mafia boss’ daughter, this doesn’t shock me” to then reacting to certain situations as if she was not familiar with that world. Those moments were few and far between but the consistency would have made her more believable.
Massive thanks to NetGalley and Bloom Books for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review
So the first half went by pretty slowly for me, but once we passed the 50% mark, I couldn’t put Stolen Heir down. Captor/captive and Beauty & the Beast romances are some of my absolute favorites, so while I’m sad the first half didn’t work well for me, I still ended up really enjoying this one.
Unfortunately this book isn’t for me, but I absolutely love Sophie and the other books of hers I’ve read.
This couple hardly interacted, but they somehow just *knew* everything about each other almost instantaneously.
I found the story to be a little rushed to be honest and I wish I saw more of a buildup of the couple. I love the mafia world and how connected it is though.
The major pro to this to me was Nessa working on her own ballet because despite the circumstances I found it to be really relatable to seek a creative outlet during a dark period.
I got approved for it this morning and HAVE DEVOURED IT ALREADY
First - the art work is phenomenal. I did find it a little too similar to some in her other books. But it's still amazing and really adds to the story.
Second - Miko is my favorite of Sophie's MMC, I'd die for him
A mob romance story with elements inspired by "The Beauty and the Beast".
The second in the series, I found this book to be an improvement upon the first one. There are still elements of Stockholm Syndrome, romanticizing trauma, misogyny, dark themese, and general toxicity. I recognize there is a genre for everyone. In reading these two books, I've realized this book and genre are not for me. That said, I'm trying to review this as objectively as possible.
The writing has certainly improved from the first book, with a bit more character development and more opportunity to get into the story before the FMC and MMC really find interest in each other. It's still not the most well-written book, but I don't think that's necessarily the point of this series, or of this genre in general. If you like dark romance, or are interested in that genre, I think this would be a good series to start with.
This book was amazing! Absolutely 5 stars! Probably one of my favorites out of the whole series. Miko was a top tier book boyfriend. I loved their relationship and clearly I’m a sucker for forced proximity and a little Stockholm syndrome! Highly recommend!

I ate this book up. I mean, I literally read it in like 3 hours. It was definitely a quick and fun read. And I definitely liked it more than the first.
The connection between the first book and this book was almost seamless. And I think that connection, made me that more excited to read this book.
I liked how fully developed Miko’s backstory was— and strangely— I kind of loved Miko. He was cute in a murderous, psychopath kind of way. Nessa was his perfect antithesis and that really added to their dynamic.
My biggest issue is the relationship building, and I believe I said this about the first book as well. There’s just not enough tension or chemistry built, for me to believe 100% that they love each other at the end.
Now, Nessa and Miko had way more tension than Callum and Aida but there still could have been more. With a little less predictability in the plot, I think that would have pushed the book over the four star threshold.
The underrated part of this book was definitely Klara and Marcel. I loved Klara’s character and Marcel’s obvious devotion to her. I was definitely rooting for them.
My overall opinion on the series so far is definitely positive. I like how easy they are to read and I can’t wait to read book three.
Love love love this Beauty and the Beast-inspired story. I actually enjoyed the main couple equally and loved the side characters just as much. I wish I could read more about Klara. And after a year since reading Brutal Prince, I'm actually excited to read the other siblings' stories.
Though this wasn't a perfect read. I might have missed this but I thought Nessa knew Russian? How did she not understand the conversation between Niko and the Bratva? Also, some of the comments early on were unnecessary (comparisons to conflicts in the Middle East and colonization doesn't help the story or imagery in any way).
I did not realize this book has been released already and I need to read the first book first so I will redo my review when I’m go
