How it took me this long to read A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole, I really can't say because it's been on my list for forever! On one hand I was a little scared to be honest. Even as a reader that loves angst, all of the sobbing reviews had me nervous to say the least! BUT I can say that this one honestly lived up to all of the hype!
Poppy & Rune's story was both heartwarming and devastating, and certainly warrants a need for tissues! As in boxes of them!
A Thousand Boy Kisses left me speechless. It's beautiful, poignant, thought provoking, and unlike any other romance I've read! It's moving beyond words, and simply put an experience.
If you love fateful and angsty romance this is for you!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing an ARC in exchange for review. This book follows Poppy and Rune. They are young and in love until Runes family has to move away and Poppy suddenly stops contacting Rune. The love between the two characters is never questioned and it is refreshing to see real love instead of instalove. This book is so beautifully written and reads the same. While this book may have been a little too young for me, I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great new read.

Talk about needed to come with a warning that this book will most defiantly make you sob. I really wished the characters were older once they reconnected. Maybe just by a few years it would have made a difference to me but I understand it’s a YA book. Very well written & swoonworthy.

I am so sad to say this, but I was never able to get into this book for some reason. I was just super bored the entire book, was not able to get attached to the characters, and found it very unrealistic. I think I would have been more invested if the chapters were shorter and if the characters were more realistic.
Overall, this was a well-written book, and I think so many people would love it, but it just was not for me.

I truly don’t know how to rate this book. I do think it’s a book that readers should go in blind. Be prepared to cry though.
The author created such beautiful imagery and emotions in her characters. I felt everything they felt and it enriched my reading experience so much.
I would like to say that I didn’t totally find the characters realistic or realistically relatable. But I hope someone can find something in them that will help them as a reader heal.
The story covers some important themes about life and love. And that’s going to stick with any reader

This book was really high in emotions and is a perfectly heartbreaking story about childhood sweethearts who finally reunite but under timed circumstances.
I feel like the FMC, poppy, was one of those characters who you could feel with your entire heart. The way she acted, was described, and everything else formed this beautiful picture in my head of what kind of character she was. I could hear how she spoke while reading her dialogue and felt the emotions in her voice and actions. She was genuinely a beautifully written character, who might as well have risen straight off the pages. Additionally, Rune was a character with beautiful character growth, and one of the most emotional part of his story was watching him forgive and reconnect with his family. Out of everything that part of the story was the most beautiful and well-done part of the book, and while it was not the main focus it did leave a strong mark behind for me.
This book was almost a five-star read, because of how beautifully emotional it was. But I have one thing that gives me the ick, and it's nicknames or pet names. Especially when used in excess, and for this book there is a certain nickname that is used on almost every single page. Sure it was cute, and had deep meaning but I was losing my mind. Also, their backup nickname was, "baby" which is nauseatingly gross for me to read. I just hate it. And it especially didn't help that the start of the book is when they are 15 and are using the word baby to refer to each other. Sadly it just left a really bad taste in my mouth that was only worsened as it was used continuously in every chapter. I am not a nickname girly, or at least not a consistent nickname girly.
Other than my own personal issues with nicknames, this book was extremely heartbreaking and powerful. It's not one of those stories that will be easily forgotten and was a perfect book for a small cry.

Great story. Wonderfully written. Loved the build-up to the issues that came about in the book and how it was handled.
Was tearing up by the halfway mark of the book and then completely crying by the end of the book.

Loved the book but I found some areas really hard to get into but I would also love a book of rune after and would want to know what happen

I have shed a thousand tears for Rune and Poppy. My heart has broken into a thousand pieces. I will never get over this book. It is so beautifully painful. This book was a special as special can be.

This book had me hooked from the dedication page
This book has been on my radar for a while and I’m not sure why I didn’t read it sooner.
Poppy and Rune, not only a love story for all ages, life lessons, appreciation, sadness, happiness, every emotion a person can feel I felt while reading this book.… I think the lessons that it taught me will stay with me forever.
What a great read, great characters and a story to remember!

I wouldn’t say that books make me cry easily. But this book had me sobbing.
“A thousand boy kisses” could convince me from the first page and i absolutely fell in love with the story of Rune and Poppy.
So emotional, so honst, so real.
Tillie Coles writing style made me feel so many emotions that i now, while writing this review, want to cry again.
Also kudos to the author for the really good handling of the really hard topics included in the book.
It might not be the right book for everyone because it’s definitely not an easy book but i can still only recommend it!

I really liked this book. Such a beautiful and sad story, it made me cry so so much, especially the second half of the book. By the end of it, I couldn’t stop crying while reading. So painful, but so beautiful and true.

Stories like this one will always feel like a punch in your soul, they will make you feel love all around you, and they will remind you of what hearts are capable of.
This book devastated me. It was simply perfect.

This was just as sad as all of hype said it was. I cried. This is a beautiful, heartbreaking love story. If you love sad books, you need to read this.

Words can not describe the emotion this book brought out in me due to its beautiful writing.
A Thousand Boy Kisses will rip your heart out and have the reader feeling every type of emotion (I know I was close to crying by chapter two and I’m not someone who cries easily).
Rune and Poppy have known each other since 5 years old and the moment they met their instantly best friends and by the time they were 8 years old, from the moment they kissed under the blossom grove they embarked on their tragic love story.
I found myself countless of times wishing that Rune and Poppy would have a different ending because they deserved to have more than 1,000 kisses. They deserved a lifetime of living engulfed by each others precious love
Although it was not the ending I had hoped for I was taught countless of lessons about my outlook on life throughout reading this book.

I loved everything about Poppy and Rune's love story, how everything started when they were only eight years old. The drive and passion they have for one another is impeccable. This book will have you shedding so much tears and how their love for one another is admirable. I loved everything single second of reading this book.

YA cancer patient, sad love story. It will make you smile, laugh, cry and be frustrated with the world.
I can see why so many people on Bookstagram love this book! This must be a re-release for it to be on NetGalley again but I'm grateful because it's new to me.
Poppy and Rune.
Cheesy romance.
Religious undertones, not really my thing but maybe it's yours?
Overall, an emotional read, but a bit cringy at times.

It took me a bit to get into this story. Poppy and Rune felt very mature for their age, even when they first met. Some parts of this story felt off to me because of how mature they sounded and it seemed forced. The ending was good and I’m glad I kept reading.

Thank you to NetGalley for advance ebook copy. This was ok. It was a little too young for me and not my genre.

This book 👏🏻 it is pure perfection.
Its about a boy (Rune) who moves new a new country and meets Poppy. His next door neighbor and his instant best friend. You read about how Poppy if gifted with a jar to collect "A Thousand Boy Kisses". Each chapter is a different kiss, a different moment that takes her breath away. Years later, Rune unfortunately needs to move back to Norway, resulting in Poppy cutting off all contact with him. This makes him both sad and upset, all he got was that she moved to live with her aunt. Two years later Rune and his family move back to the house next to Poppy, but unfortunately Rune isn't the same boy he was when he left. Still not being able to talk to Poppy, he asks around and demands to know why Poppy cut him off. This resulting in his determination to make her talk to him and help live the best life she could.
This book did make me cry a few times, but it also had a lot of life lessons. Some are harder to understand unless you go in reading looking for them. This is such a beautiful book about the true life of living. Poppy has the hardest hurdle thrown at her, yet she still looks at all of the beautiful moments in life. She helps Rune find himself again. She shows the ones around her about true self forgiveness.
Now this book doesn't have the traditional happy ever after, but just reading the back will tell you that. This book will make you grasping for airs and looking at your life and evaluating what needs to change to be able to live life Rune and Poppy.
