This was such a refreshingly original horror book — creepy in all the right ways, totally addictive, and surprisingly important. The story kept me hooked (and up way too late), but it also had deeper layers that really stuck with me. It’s not just about the scares — though there are plenty — but also about what’s lurking underneath. If you’re into horror that makes you think as much as it freaks you out, this is a must-read

The Whispering Dead is an eerie, atmospheric ghost story that hooks readers from the start. Keira’s mysterious past and her ability to communicate with the dead set the stage for a chilling adventure filled with danger, secrets, and supernatural forces. The masked men of Artec, their sinister plans, and the tormented souls trapped in their grip create a compelling tension that keeps the pages turning. While I didn’t finish the novel, the haunting premise and gripping revelations make it a strong pick for fans of spooky, suspenseful reads.

"The Hollow Dead" by Darcy Coates is a spooky and exciting book that mixes horror and mystery. It pulls readers into a story about fear, loss, and the supernatural. Darcy Coates is known for creating stories that make you feel tense and scared, and this book is no different.
The story takes place in a creepy, faraway location. The main character gets caught up in a bunch of secrets and a dark past. The setting is really important to the story, and Coates describes it so well that it feels like the place itself is scary. As the characters move through this dangerous place, the feeling of being alone and in danger grows, making readers want to know what happens next.
The main character is someone you can relate to and is very interesting. They deal with their own problems while facing outside threats. Coates does a great job of showing how fear affects people, which helps readers understand what the characters are going through. This makes the scary parts of the story even more powerful.
The book is paced really well, with a mix of exciting and calm moments that keep the tension building. Coates knows how to make you feel like you need to find out what happens, and as the story goes on, you'll want to keep reading to discover the truth behind the scary events.
Some people might think certain parts of the story are easy to guess if they read a lot of horror books. But Coates' ability to create a spooky atmosphere and connect with readers' emotions keeps the story interesting and fun to read.
"The Hollow Dead" is a great book that shows off Darcy Coates' talent for writing creepy and engaging stories. With its detailed setting, well-thought-out characters, and thrilling plot, this book is a must-read for anyone who loves horror and mystery. Coates has once again shown she can make readers feel scared and curious, making "The Hollow Dead" a memorable book in her collection.

As a fantasy novel, "The Hollow Dead" never goes all out to fulfill every requirement of a good one. The usual format that includes great worldbuilding, which is consistent with its rules, and the characters on a quest that transforms them innately, is followed up here also. But the writer underplays these tropes by keeping these elements grounded and depending on a relentless plot. More effort is spent on the actions of the characters instead of descriptions. As I found out from my previous read of her, Coates's brilliance in tightening the narrative with enough action and subplots makes this also a worthy read.

MY absolute favorite of the grave keeper series. I loved learning more about Keira and her background.

Thank you to Netgalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the opportunity to read and review this book!
This may seem kind of strange, but this was actually the first Darcy Coates book that I have ever read…and now I can see why everyone loves her so much! Her writing style is very easy to read and you immediately find yourself immersed in the story and setting. I didn’t know originally that this book was actually the 4th book in this particular series, but I was honestly able to piece together what had happened previously and it didn’t really detract from my enjoyment of the story.
I don’t know why but I kind of felt like I was reading an episode of Scooby-Doo: a group of teenagers taking on a mysterious corporation (Artec) plus ghosts and spirits? I loved the found family vibes of Keira, Zoe, Mason, and Harry and if your adventures don’t include a lovable cat friend like Daisy, then what are you doing with your life?
I definitely will be reading more Darcy Coates books in the future and again thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC and give my thoughts!

I liked this one, but I think iot is my second least favorite. I missed the more ghost story. This one follows the more overarching plot, and I was glad to get some answers. It just felt more different from the other three. I also wrapped up pretty well so I'm not sure where we go in book 5...

I love everything Darcy Coates puts out and this definitely didn’t disappoint. Can’t wait to see what is next from her.

This felt a bit like a “cozy” horror, so I recommend it to those who are just starting reading the genre. It has a really good story, unfortunately, I’m a character driven reader, and I didn’t connect with them. I have read other books by her, so that I’ve loved, this one just didn’t hit the spot for me.

Thank you Netgalley for the advance reader copy of The Hollow Dead by Darcy Coates in exchange for an honest review. This book was written well, had good character development and an intriguing storyline. However the content hit close to home for me and was therefore hard for me to read it. I would recommend it though to others.

This is the fourth installment in Darcy Coates’ Gravekeeper series and we delve deeper into Keira’s past as she starts to unravel her life before coming to Blighty, her steadfast friends Mason and Zoe by her side. This book gives the reader some well deserved answers about Keira’s past without ending the series prematurely or not leaving room for more. It felt very satisfying to return to these characters and see how the relationships between Keira, Zoe, and Mason and the adjacent village friends are growing and how Artec’s net around them is also closing in. Can they save the dead from agony - Zoe’s mother among them ? With recovering memories Keira is also able to reconcile with herself and trust herself again. I am hoping there will be a new addition to this series soon.
The ghosts, the cat, Keira and Mason, Zoe … I want to return to Blighty.

This is just a fun series to read. There's enough spookiness and ghost stuff to keep it interesting, and the gang of characters is interesting as we get to know them more in each book. I love Daisy the cat! I'm also glad that we finally get some answers in this book, but I would like more, so I'm glad there's supposed to be a 5th book!

I really like this series. This book was really good. In this book you learn about her past and the Artek organization. I love this author and her writing style.

This series had much more depth and lots of spooky twists and turns. I’m excited to continue this series and see how everything plays out.

It’s so nice to be back with the whole gang, and I love the atmosphere of these books! Highly recommend for readers who love Halloween season and the overall vibes (without delving in to anything too scary).

Thank you netGalley, Poison Pen Publishers and Darcy Coates for the eArc of The Hollow Dead.
This is the 4th book in the The Gravekeeper Series. I love the way Darcy Coates can bring different elements into her narratives and they flow really well together, You have some great creepy moments., romantic ones and I love the sense of humour that she injects into this series. It makes a great read for those who would like to dip their toes into some cosy creepy supernatural reading without getting too creeped out.

This is the 4th installment in the Gravekeeper series and it was by far the most exciting!! Some chilling discoveries and we finally get the satisfaction of two of our characters together. Also, the comedic relief was hilarious!!

Kiera has come a long way from when she first awakened with no memories. But as she has reclaimed her life's secrets, she has also fallen deeper and deeper into danger. The fourth book in the Gravekeeper series Kiera and her friends must continue the fight against an evil so great that it threatens even the dead! Fast paced and action packed, this novel is a great continuation of the series, while still leaving the door open for even more!
Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily and all views expressed are my own.

Can Darcy Coates do anything wrong?? Yet another great read from the queen of horror with a twist! The Gravekeeper series has become one of my favorites from her with its mix of horror, mystery and a little fun. I can’t wait for the next one!

I absolutely love this series as a whole. This book was fantastic just like the others and I cannot wait to hear more about Keira’s story with her friends Mason and Zoe as well as adage! I absolutely love the story line and I loved reading about Keira and how she has developed as a character. I am excited to see more of the stories and can’t wait to know what happens next!
