This was a fantastic continuation to The Gravekeeper series! I actually had expected this to be the last installment but I'm glad it is not. Loved this one and can't wait for more

The Hollow Dead by Darcy Coates begins three weeks after the last book. The group is trying to figure what to do next in their battle against Artec. They are running out of leads when something happens that causes them to stumble upon an abandoned amusement park site. They are in great danger there but they find a lot of answers to Keira’s past. Harry plays a bigger role in this book and I love that for him. This one wasn’t as creepy as the last one, but was engaging and fun. It reminded me of later seasons of Stranger Things. This series is really entertaining and I can’t wait to see how it continues. This book is in strong competition with the last one as my favorite. 5/5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for allowing me access to an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Publication date February 13th, 2024. Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this ARC!

I’m a huge fan of Darcy’s books and a big fan of the Gravekeeper series. I would seriously read 30 of these of books and never grow tired of them.

In The Hollow Dead we get to go on another adventure with Keira, Zoe, Mason and of course our favorite cat Daisy! I really enjoyed getting to learn more lore about Keira and finally getting a long awaited romance 🥰

This installment of the Gravekeeper series has so many of my favorite things! A spooky abandoned amusement park, with quirky characters (I'm looking at you Harry and Fish Face Guy) and so many ghosts. I mean they are literally everywhere! Plus to make this even better, not that I didn't love Keira learning about her powers and making new friends. this one picks up right after they figure out who is trying to track Keira, and how it all plays into the ghostly community and I was just so excited to see where this was going to go! I was sucked in from the beginning, I love Keira and her friends, especially Zoe, and all of her maybe not as crazy as we all might think conspiracy theories. Some big things happen in this story and I love the fact that even in the midst of all that there were parts that had me laughing out loud.
I'm enjoying this series so much that even when we get a conclusion to this story arc, I would love to continue seeing Keira, Mason, and Zoe helping the living with their ghostly problems, and helping the ghosts with their unfinished business.

Amazing! I have been waiting for this book to come out for almost 8 months and was so excited for it. It truly lived up to my expectations. It was so well written and without giving spoilers away - really kept the reader engaged in the story and flowed well with the previous books. I really hope she has another one coming out for this series!

This book was a great read that put the prior books questions to bed. I love Darcy Coates writing style, its fast paced, easy to follow and she always creates the best eerie atmospheres. This series is so good not only for its spookyness, but overall plot. I will always look for more to read from this author and highly recommend this series.

Picks up 3 weeks after the events of The Twisted Dead. Keira, Zoe & Mason are till trying to find more information on Artec, when an unfortunate event puts them right on course to take the company down. The gang know a little bit about what the company is up to, but soon are travelling to uncover all theirs secrets & possibly how Keira may be connected. They just need to make sure they all make it alive.

This time we also get more of Harry as he accompanies the trio. Between Zoe's out there humour & Harry's dark wit, I found myself laughing out loud so many times with these two. It brought a great levity in between the tense moments.

Loved that we delved deeper into Artec & saw the destruction that they have been leaving in the wake. Also finally finding out the connection Keira has to the company & why they have been after her. So many secrets were brought to light and can't wait for the fallout after the end events.

I did find it a little slow towards the middle, but once the gang started to find out things, it really picked up & I was glued to the page until the very end.

Thank you to Netgalley and Poison Pen Press for the opportunity to read this book.

I want to thank the author for giving me the opportunity to read this e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

Darcy is one of my favorite auto-buy authors and when I saw that #4 of the gravekeeper series was available for an arc I screamed with joy. I loved the first three and this one didn’t disappoint at all. I loved how we could pick up right away where our last one left us. A lot of my questions I had from the last book were answered in this one mostly but still do much to know. This book was so fast paced, kept you on your toes. Our characters are perfectly developed, the storyline was there and it of course sets us up for the next one at the end with a great cliffhanger. I would recommend this entire series to anybody who loves a good Darcy read! She never disappoints. Bravo.

Review: I am really enjoying this series and kind of happy that there might be a 5th book coming as I’m not ready to say goodbye to these characters yet! I love Keira, Mason and Zoe and following along on their adventures! This is the 4th book in the series, and let me tell you, it was intense! I love reading Darcy Coates’s books because I get lost in the story and can’t tell that time is moving in real life. If you haven’t had the chance to read this series, I recommend doing so!! Thank you @netgalley and @poisonedpenpress for my early copy!

My bad — I was so excited to be offered an ARC of a Darby Coates (“Dead of Winter” was fantastic), that I failed to realize this was part of a series, Gravekeepers #4. That’s not necessarily a show-stopper — there are multiple series where I entered mid-stream and immediately went back to older books after finishing. Alas, I realized I need a backstory on heroine Keira, so I did go back and read the synopses of books 1-3 to get my bearings.

“The Hollow Dead” obviously picks up where the last one, “The Twisted Dead,” left off, and — luckily for me — Keira has lost all her memories. She finally figures out that she has special spectral powers, has good friends in locals Zoe and Mason, a powerful evil organization, Artec, is up to no good, and there are multiple ghosts. Keira fixes broken hearts and solves mysteries for the departed, while trying to thwart Artec. The various paranormal vignettes are both creepy and somewhat heart-warming. The series seems geared for those who like horror-light with periods of suspense and a decent group of supportive friends. More grown up than Scooby-Doo, but still very enjoyable. 4 stars!

Literary Pet Peeve Checklist:
Green Eyes (only 2% of the real world, yet it seems like 90% of all fictional females): NO A lot of dead and, of course, hollow eyes.
Horticultural Faux Pas (plants out of season or growing zones, like daffodils in autumn or bougainvillea in Alaska): NO Most of the action takes place in graveyards where fresh flowers are welcomed and dead flowers need removal.

Unbeknownst to Darcy Coates, finding out I had been approved for the newest installment of her Gravekeeper Series was like a Christmas gift for me!! I absolutely love this series, so I could not wait to continue reading about Keira and her faithful friends, Zoe, Mason, and Harry! And by the way, I loved that Harry played a bigger role in this book, his intriguing, quirky personality adding much of the humor to the storyline. And we must not forget sweet, heroic Daisy, Keira’s enigmatically wonderful cat, who proves animals are the best judges of human character!

Darcy skillfully reminds the reader where we left off after Book 3, deftly summarizing a bit about our protagonists and what’s transpired in previous books. Impeccably written, her words skillfully help the tension and suspense build so that you’re left on the edge of your seat! And as in all of her books, Darcy’s dialogue is fantastic!! Never stilted, always natural and fluid. What I especially love is there is humor throughout, providing levity to life or death situations.

As the story of Artec and Keira’s mysterious past unfold in THE HOLLOW DEAD, we are hit with twists and surprises (not the good kind of surprises) you could never see coming! Shocking revelations will leave you speechless—jaw-dropping, heartbreaking, and so many emotions felt all at once.

Keira’s past, her childhood, her family—all come to light! As a reader, I honestly wasn’t prepared for what she discovered. And little mysteries interspersed throughout the book, tangent to the big mystery, but important and intriguing just the same, add to the suspense of an already fantastic novel.

This is one of the books you can’t read fast enough, but at the same time, you don’t want it to end. Over the course of four books, you really grow to love these characters, feeling as if you know them personally, not wanting to say goodbye. Could there be a Book 5? Goodness, I hope so!! I’m not ready to say goodbye to Keira and her endearing friends.

I want to extend a huge thank you to NetGalley, Darcy Coates, and Poisoned Pen Press for gifting me the ARC of this book! I appreciate you trusting me with an honest review!! It was a privilege reading THE HOLLOW DEAD before its release in February!

"When Keira first woke alone in a strange forest, she remembered only two things: that she could speak with the dead, helping them move on from the mortal world, and that sinister mask-wearing men were hunting her. She had no idea what she'd done to earn their hatred or what dangerous secrets she may have uncovered.

Until now.

Peeling back layer upon layer of the mystery surrounding her origins, Keira has finally learned that the strange masked men work for Artec, an organization profiting off spectral energy produced by hundreds of chained, tormented souls. Their goal is to spread their macabre cemeteries across the world, using the agony of the dead to extend their power and reach - and only Keira and her loyal group of friends can stop them. But there are still mysteries to uncover in Keira's foggy memories, and as she prepares to fight for the souls of the tormented dead, what she doesn't know about her own past may come back to haunt her."

Darcy Coates is always must read.

I received an ARC of this book but do not allow that to impact my rating.

So first of all, I started this completely unaware that it's the fourth in a series. That's my bad. I should have checked. And this is not a series of standalone books; I spent the beginning of this book very confused. But do you know why I gave it five stars? Because I couldn't stop reading despite the confusion and really enjoyed it. I liked the characters, and now want to go back and read all the books. And everything and anything with Harry in it. Because Harry stole every scene he was in.

Thank you, Darcy Coates (@darcybooks), for another awesome adventure for Keira and crew! This one was especially great because we got to learn more about Keira, Artec, and Daisy! This was so much fun to read (and a little heart-breaking as well). Enjoy the ending all fans of Keira and Mason! 😉 This is another great series to read and enjoy! 😊

Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press (@poisonedpenpress) for the chance to read this one.

So I didn’t realize this was book four of the series. Usually this doesn’t seem to be a problem, but I think this book would have been way better if I at least read book one. Yes you could read this one on its own, but there is a lot of backstory needed to really enjoy this book. I kind of felt like I popped in the middle of a book and had no clue how the story got to where it was.

This book doesn’t give any backstory/character development since I’m guessing that all happened in book one so I couldn’t really connect with any of the characters. This is not a slam on the author, it is just a problem I had with this book since I joined the series in book four.

I loved the spooky ghosts parts of this book, I just wish there was more of it. That kind of goes with the rest of the book, every time I felt like it was getting good, it paused and went a different direction.

Thanks NetGalley and publisher for the digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

Coates does a phenomenal job of bringing you into a world and having you feel like you’ve always been there.
As Keira and her friends try to help the ghosts in her graveyard, her friend, Zoe’s mom also passes away. While helping Zoe’s mom try to pass through, Keira unfolds what will be the friends new adventure.
What is Artec doing with the bodies and spirits of those they take? In their a connection with Keira’s past?

This book follows on straight after the previous book. There is some great character development with kiera and the story is fast paced. Another great book in the series!

Thank you so much to Darcy Coates, Poisoned Pen Press, and NetGalley for allowing me to read a free ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Still in love with this series! Loved every moment of this installment. Keira and Zoe had great development, Mason and Harry didn't develop much but were still great to have present. I wasn't as concerned by Harry's actions and comments this time around. He and Zoe were their very funny selves. Zoe and her bag of ex machina---excuse me, tricks---never fails to amuse.

I feel I had to suspend my disbelief a bit more for this book than previous, but I was having too much fun to really care. I can't specify without spoilers, but I'll say that Keira is very acrobatic for no apparent reason---life on the run doesn't teach one stunts like that. Her thorough knowledge of runes has also yet to be explained.

We did get a lot of wonderful answers, though it remains unclear how Artec realized they could use ghosts to charge their phones. How did they come to know that ghosts were not only real, but possessed energy that could be harvested and converted into electricity?

Also, HOW DID THE TRUCKS TURN AROUND?? Omg that gave me an eye twitch.

Love it, can't wait for the next one. Which I suspect to be the last?

Although I didn’t read the other books in this series, the characters really stood out to me, there was a point when even some of the characters were giving a creepier vibe. I like the take it took on the supernatural and I might just start it from the beginning to see if I missed a couple of things. There was Humor and Thrill in the book so if that’s something you’re looking for, this is the book for you or should I say series.

I’ve heard many great things about this author and was expecting to be scared or slightly frightened. Sadly, that did not happen with this story and it’s probably because it felt like it is intended for a younger audience. It was an interesting story nonetheless.
