Tag, You're Dead is such a fun read. When you think you know what's going to happen the game changes, not just for the players but for the readers too.

None of the the characters are likable and this story, makes every more intriguing. Layers of secrets and lies coming apart for our entertainment

This book was not for me. It was super out of my comfort zone. It had weird Ready Player One and thriller vibes and it was not my thing.

I requested this book after seeing that Kirkus gave it a starred review and am honestly perplexed at that after reading it. Tag, You're Dead is mystery/thriller that, to its credit, does have a lot of action, but the problem was I didn't care about any of it. None of the characters are particularly likable or sympathetic, the story lacks depth, and I almost quit reading several times. The premise sounded interesting--a game of tag orchestrated by a rich teen tech/social media figure that winds up having a contestant out for revenge. But, I did not feel like there was enough backstory for the reader to begin to care about the girl who had been murdered previously or any of the contestants. Unfortunately, this one was a miss for me.

This marked my introduction to Kathryn Foxfield's work, and it was an enjoyable experience.

What starts as a supposed entertaining televised social media game transforms into a gripping murder mystery spanning London, where none of the contestants are safe.

The narrative leans more towards a thriller than a horror, reminiscent of classic whodunnit tales.

The main characters, engaged in the game, become suspects as the body count rises. Presented through multiple perspectives, we delve into the players' backgrounds, motives, and connections to the murders.

Each participant seems entangled in the mystery, with motives and no alibis, harboring secrets tied to their reasons for joining the game.

Overall, this was a swiftly paced, action-packed thriller brimming with twists and turns, keeping the suspense alive until the very last page.

Teen influencer Anton wants to make his big comeback so organises a live streamed 100 person game of hide and seek with the prize being him... or at least entry to his inner circle.
All seems well but a dead girls ghost seems out for revenge and his inner circle isn't quite as tight as he thinks.

Overall good read, easy to follow and entertaining.

When reality star Anton orcastrates a game of Tag, with the winner becoming part of the inner circle, his fans rush to enter...

However, is Anton actually the one being played? Rose was found dead at one of Antons parties and it looks like her Ghost is back for revenge and to catch her murderer.. who may be a contestant in this very game

Everyone in this game has their own reasons for competing, and some have their own alternative motives as well.

Will they make it through the game and solve a murder along the way.... read to find out!

Thanks to NetGalley and SourceFire books for the chance to read and review this book! Out yesterday so you can snap it up now too!

I wanted to love this story. The premise is quite original with all the makings of a suspenseful thriller. Unfortunately it missed the mark. I found myself drifting out of the story and struggling to get back into it.

I really enjoyed this book! The characters were well-developed and the story hooked me right away. I’d recommend this for fans of The Inheritance Games or Karen McManus! Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC!

In Kathryn Foxfield's gripping thriller, Tag, You're Dead, a live-streamed citywide game of Tag orchestrated by teenage influencer Anton Fraser transforms from a seemingly harmless social media stunt into a heart-pounding murder mystery. The high-stakes contest, where contestants vie to become Fraser's live-in personal assistants, propels the reader into a night-covered urban jungle filled with suspense, danger, and unexpected twists.

Foxfield expertly weaves a multifaceted narrative through multiple perspectives, revealing the contestants' motivations, secrets, and connections to the mounting body count. The relentless pacing, combined with the infusion of horror elements, creates a perfect blend of suspense and entertainment.

As the characters grapple with the consequences of their choices, the tension escalates, leaving readers on the edge of their seats until the final electrifying revelation. Tag, You're Dead is a must-read for those seeking a high-octane thriller that transcends the boundaries of reality television and delivers a spine-chilling experience that lingers long after the last page is turned.

YA mysteries have always been a favorite of mine and this one was so well done. Each of the characters you could both hate and root for them at different times of the book. I had no clue who the killer was till it was revealed. The game being played and controlled by the ghost of the dead character was a great idea and I loved that it added another layer of twists onto the storyline.

This book was the perfect length, enjoyable, and addicting. I love these types of books and I can’t wait to see what comes next.

3.7
This mostly worked, if on a superficial level, and, more importantly, was pretty engaging. I had problems reading a couple of the characters consistently and the ending was silly fiddle-faddle, imo.

When Fallen YouTuber Anton decides to have his big comeback as a hide and seek game all over London and picks 100 people to play someone else is playing their own game and only wants there to be six players Anton wanted it to be like Pokémon go but in his game each player gets hologram glasses for communication and visual affects and you’re either a runner or a chaser. Before it’s over however even Anton will be a runner because it seems the girl Rose who was murdered wants revenge and it seems many people playing have a reason to fear the outcome. There’s Scarlet who is the delusional stepsister to Anton‘s right hand man Matthew who is also in the game and his girlfriend Anton sister Beatrix who is helping out with the game then there’s Amber and Aaron Love mother and daughter YouTube sensation, Emma the high school reporter and Grayson, roses ex boyfriend who went out with her right before she broke up with him to be with Anton. Last but not least is Jesse the older man who is dating Emma it is also a crewmember of Antons and it seems someone is changing the rules of the game but no one knows who. It seems everyone in this book could’ve had a book by themselves because they have a lot of baggage and when people have baggage and a good rider to explain said baggage it could make for a really good book and I thought Catherine Foxfield did exactly that. This was intriguing and although they had lots of key players I found the author did a great job keeping up with their details with minor if any flaws to the narrative I really enjoyed this book and read it all in one setting it was that good and I couldn’t wait to see what happened and who did it? If you love teen horror/Mystery/Thriller then you’ll definitely love this book I definitely did! I want to thank SourceOfBooksFire and net galley for my free Ark copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

I enjoyed this book more than I anticipated I would. It was very fast-paced and kept me hooked to want to know what would happen next. The writing is geared more towards a younger YA audience, but if you can get by that it’s a solid thriller for anyone to read. I liked the concept of a city-wide contest and teenagers will definitely appreciate the social media presence throughout. Not sure how the parents of some of these kids are cool with them running around the streets of London unsupervised, but not going to let that detract from the story. You may figure out a few things along the way before the characters do (as I did) but the author does a nice job of making everyone look guilty. If you’re looking for a unique thriller that’s a quick read, give this one a try!

Told from alternating point of views, 100 players compete in a game revolving around a huge influencer - some for money, some for fame, and some for revenge. This book had big Pretty Little Liars vibes and I know a lot of my teen students will eat this one up! The writing was fast-paced with lots of twists and suspense, but the characters were difficult to connect with. The ending was a little predictable, but the events leading up to it kept my attention until the very end. Thanks so much for the ARC!

thanks to NetGalley for the eARC

⭐️=3?? i guess? | 😘=2.5 | 🤬=4 | ⚔️=4.5 | 14+

summary: so 100 teenagers are stuck in a city-wide game of tag fighting for money but they have their own motivations and there’s a murder and stuff??

thoughts: this was boring but also i read it in like two sittings?? kind of cringe with insufferable characters but also I was pretty hooked so idk

This book felt more of a tv show called Pretty Little Liars and a Movie series called The Hunger Games combined together to create this story a social media game live on tv that turns into a murder mystery where no suspect is safe/ the bodies start piling up. This was an interesting mystery/ thriller book to read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcefire Books for this copy of Tag, You're Dead, the upcoming release from Kathryn Foxfield which is our December 5th!

A live streamed game of Tag across the city of London is social media influencer Anton Frazer's big comeback! It's his biggest stunt yet and following the mysterious death of one of his team, he needs everything to go perfectly! Grayson, Charlotte and Erin are just a few of the contestants, all with a connection to Anton, or the recently departed Rose. When things start to go wrong in the game due to the ghost of Rose appearing and changing the rules, it's up to these three and a few others to figure out what really happened the night of her death and who is behind everything!

I really, really enjoyed this book! One of my not so guilty pleasures is YA mystery and this one ticked every box. I was drawn into the story straight away and ended up inhaling it in about a day! The alternating POVs kept me engaged in both the story and the characters which just added to the overall experience. It's definitely action packed as well which is nice addition to a mystery novel. It also kept me on my toes, there really is no one to trust in this novel and it'll keep you guessing up until the very end!

Overall, this is a super fun, entertaining and binge-worthy YA read! If you're after something quick and easy to read but that will have you questioning everything and everyone, this is for you!

I like this book. I don't really have a strong opinion on this one. I liked it. I found it to be entertaining and such. It just doesn't feel like a five star book.

This was a fun read. Picture Pretty Little Liars turned into a 100 contestant city-wide game… That’s what it felt like to me. I felt some very strong PLL vibes while reading this book. A popular influencer stages a comeback after someone dies at one his parties. He stages a city-wide game of rage where the contestants alternate between being chasers and runners - but nothing could be so simple. This concept reminded me a bit of Warcross by Marie Lu - but maybe it has just been to long since I read that. Someone interrupts the game to turn it into a stage to find out who killed the girl at that party months ago. So, I think that I can say that this book is perfect for you if you are looking for Warcross meets PLL. I can’t say much else without spoilers.
The pacing of the story was good. The characters and their motivations were revealed is good snippets throughout. I felt like at times I knew where it was going, and had it figured out before the end, but it did keep me guessing. Don’t trust anyone.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Fire for a digital arc of the book. The opinions expressed are honest and my own.

“By the end of tonight, Anton Frazer will be dead.” Here are reasons to read the YA thriller book:

Influencer - Anton Frazer is a social media influencer known for some pretty outlandish videos as well as game that overlays ghosts all around you to catch
Tag - but tonight he has organized a game of tag with over 100 people, spread across the city, and outfitted with VR glasses and smart watches
4 POV - we read from 4 different players point of views
Suspects - and by the end of the night, they are all suspects in someone’s murder, and not necessarily Anton’s.

So lest you think it will be boring to watch a constant game of tag, let me tell you, it’s not boring at all. The game has several mini games, and then veers into an entirely different direction entirely. There are a lot of risks with the twist, and inevitably I did guess who “did it”, although I won’t tell you exactly what was done. There are a lot of reveals as well as some very spooky scenes as well. Definitely a very fun read.
