This was a cute light read. Nothing notable. I largely enjoyed the fact that the characters were older and determined to live by their own rules.

This book was incredibly heartwarming and I loved the dynamic between the characters. I’ve never read a Kate Galley and this was a fantastic introduction.

Hearfelt, warm and oh so witty. I felt like a teenager again, I was giggling so much. The witty banter made it a inviting and fun read. I hope I am that lively when I am 70.

The Golden Girl's Road Trip by Kate Galley opens with 70-year-old Connie Fitzgerald being made redundant at the charity shop where she volunteers. She has just become engaged at the age of 70. About to become a grandmother, she resigned herself to an ordinary existence. On her way back from celebrating her 70th birthday, she chanced upon a magazine article about an exhibition in Scotland by a reclusive artist, Alex Mackenzie.
Connie has unfinished business in Scotland and treats the article as an invitation.
Connie, who lives in Bath, decides to take her old camper van on one last trip. The book takes us on a journey of discovery.
The adventure she embarks on takes us all on a journey that deals with ageism, relationships, regrets, forgiveness, guilt, self-discovery, friendship........
It is a delightful and engaging read, Suitable for a reading group or individual reading.
The various characters in the book come to life and are relatable. An adorable dog is thrown in for good measure.

This was an amazing book, one of the reasons why is that it’s got older characters as the main part which I love as so many stories have main characters which are under 30.

It made me laugh and get quite emotional tbh, it’s a fantastic read

Rated 4.5 stars - Hop on a road-trip of a lifetime, put your foot, full throttle on the accelerator and don't press on the break until the end. You're in for one uplifting, wonderful ride.

This is a great road-trip book with great characters and scenery. Constance Fitzgerald sounds brilliant. She thought she had to slow-down and her freedom was going to be curtailed as she was going to become a grandmother and is newly engaged, but quite the opposite happened. An opportunity to travel to the Highlands of Scotland opens up and is grasped.

The book takes an arty turn as Constance discovers, old friend, Alex is holding an art exhibition in Scotland.

This book is inspirational in that, I am nowhere near 70, but I sure would love to be having grand adventures when I do hit that grand old age.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It has a unique story, and its fun to read about a different age group sometimes. I mostly enjoyed the the fact that after 50 years, the main characters still think about each other and find one another. Its a nice and easy read, totally recommend.

Thank you to netgalley and the author for sending me the book in exchange for an honest review.

I have seen more books with older main characters lately, but this one was different for me.

This is a delightful and charming story. I enjoyed reading about an older protagonist, which is somewhat uncommon in this type of fiction. The story was light and easy to read, yet had a great deal of depth dealing with many issues such as grief, regret, and family relationships. I would highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more from the author.

This was a sweet book with the message that even at 70, you should seize life and what it gives you and never settled for something that doesn't feel right. Love can be found or rekindled, difficult relationships mended and nourrished. It's also quite a funny heartwarming book.

The Golden Girls' Road Trip by Kate Galley

Connie is almost 70 but has always been a free spirit, travelling in her campervan and living in lots of different places. She's about to get married and settle down when her past comes calling and she goes on a spontaneous roadtrip with Alex, delayed by 50 years!

What a LOVELY book - absolutely everything about it is perfection! Loved the story and it's so nice to read a book that deals with older characters in such a fun, poignant and always realistic way. Very VERY highly recommended.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book.

I loved this adventure from a 70 year old woman! Nothing like I have ever read before. Ended up googling all the different places travelled. I was captured into the story from the very beginning. This was my first book by Kate Galley, but for sure I will check out others.

This book was a bit different from what I normally read but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Connie (Constance) has just celebrated her 70th birthday. She finds out she’s about to become a gran mother and is also newly engaged. Should she think about settling down now? An encounter with a person from her past makes her rethink everything…….

This is a lovely, heart-warming book about a 70 year old lady who is at a turning point in her life and decides to take a road trip from Brighton to Scotland to try to reconnect with a lost love.

This is the second book I have read by Kate and I really enjoyed it. I love the fact that main character Connie is so independent and self-sufficient and has the freedom to travel around in Ruby, her old but trusty camper van with her crochet, collecting  wool from each place she visits. A cosy, emotional read about love, family and friendship, with some interesting twists!

A great story of second chances, mis-understandings, friendship and love. A serious read but with lots of comedic moments along the way.
