McGee’s latest delves into the ever- blurring line between young adult and adult fiction. Set in the future post-nuclear war world, the plot is engaging and will excite readers to look for the next installment in the series to find out what happens.
Thalli has been genetically altered before birth to be a completely emotionless, unquestioning person. She has a talent for music, but the anomaly in her personality is that she does question things going on around her and has an almost insatiable curiosity. This anomaly marks her for destruction until Berk, a young man she used to hang out with, asks to experiment on her for learning
Decent book, overall well written. I got a little bored while reading it though, and I’m not sure what it was missing for me.
I wasn't prepared for what I was getting into, but for what it is, the book was fairly pleasant. It wouldn't be something I could recommend to all my friends, but I can appreciate it for what it is.
