3.5 stars. A Victorian England retelling of Overboard, with some fun Easter eggs thrown in for fans of the movie. This was an entertaining read, although angstier than I expected from its inspiration. It’s the second book in a series, but works fine as a standalone. There’s only one short appearance by the main characters from the previous book.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for the ARC to review. All opinions are my own.

Wow, simply wow! This book has everything I look for in a historical romance: a good dose of humor (I laughed quite a lot!), so much steam (the earl is really shameless and has a very filthy mouth, bless him!), and a little angst, but just a little bit to ice the cake. It was a gorgeous read, very satisfying. Five stars are certainly deserved!

As expected by Stacy Reid, I completely devoured this historical romance in one sitting only. It was everything that I was looking for and more. I can't recommend it enough.

Amazing! This book was shorter than I was expecting but it did not disappoint! I feel in love with the characters and their love story is one of my favorites from Stacy Reid. Immediately bought the paperback!

Not my favorite from Stacy Reid but it had a good amnesia plot with a character redemption arc. I guess I have mixed feelings about this one because of meeting the MMC in the previous book and his antics 😂

An Earl to Remember is the second story in the Unforgettable Love series and it’s a very swoon-worthy love story. It is a historical take on the movie Overboard with the added touch of humor, sexiness and cuteness. Georgianna Heyford catered a yacht party for the Earl of Stannis, Daniel Rutherford, and was fired for a misunderstanding and isn’t feeling too generous when he shows up in her small town. In order to save her reputation, she claims him as her husband and takes him home. Her home includes three younger sisters, cows, chickens and it needs repair. Georgie has been holding it together for her family for the past four years and from an outsider’s perspective it looks pretty threadbare. Getting him to ‘work’ his family’s home could be the fix and revenge she’ll accept for being fired and she hopes he’ll understand when he gets his memory back.

The main characters in this story couldn’t be more different in every way but grow in love by the end. Daniel is the ultimate rake and his reputation precedes him that Georgie can see why women fall for him. His arrogance and attitude in the beginning is hard to like, and when he takes a 180 turn to being an endearing hero by the end, makes his transformation the biggest I’ve ever read. Without his memory, he becomes a likeable character and has some funny moments with his sisters and farm animals. He also is thinking of other rather than himself and wants to find ways to make the family household better. Georgie is the strong, selfless heroine who is doing her best to keep her family together and by catering meals for the gentry she earns a living. She has her moments of self-doubt and those scenes with Daniel were beautifully portrayed. The longer Daniel stays with her she begins to hate the fact she’s hidden his identity and taking advantage of him. Georgie walked a fine line of keeping her secret and wanting this fantasy to be real for her. Her sister’s interaction with Daniel make for some fun and poignant scenes that are one of the highlights of this story.

An Earl to Remember is a fun, sexy read and was written with Ms. Reid usual flair and wit. I was happily looking forward to this second story after adoring book one, A Matter of Temptation. An Earl to Remember can be read as a standalone because there is a bit of background information to get you introduced to the previous characters. The amnesia trope was well played and the author was able to make a huge change in Daniel’s character and redeem him by the end of the book. The grand gesture and epilogue still bring a smile to my face knowing that Georgie and Daniel got their happy ending. Historical fans will love this book!

Enjoyable and different. Thank you to netgalley.

Usually the amnesia trope isn't done all that well, but Stacy Reid pulls it off.

An Earl to Remember is a cozy, fairly lighthearted historical romance from Stacy Reid. If you've read a Stacy Reid novel before, (or if you haven't) you can trust Georgianna and Daniel's story to have just the right amount of swoony romance and ridiculous shenanigans to keep you well entertained.

Georgianna is a gentleman's daughter and works as a skilled chef for nearby parties and gatherings. She's hopeful that a gig aboard a luxury yacht party will be the ticket to restoring some of her and her sisters' comforts around their slowly degrading estate end ensuring their survival over the next year. The spark of attraction that hits the moment Georgianna and the Earl of Stannis, Daniel, lay eyes on each other is undeniable and electric. Unfortunately, a misunderstanding and an accident leave Daniel washed ashore with no memory of his rakish ways or his lavish fortunes - except the memory of Georgianna's face. Faced with ruining her reputation as a gentlewoman, Georgianna is forced to claim Daniel as her husband. As a small act of revenge, Georgianna plans to work Daniel at their home as recompense for her missing wages. But the Earl is bound to remember something eventually, despite how comfortable he's become with Georgianna's home and sisters.

I loved how doting Daniel was while missing his memory, but I couldn't help but feel a disconnect between who he decided to be with his amnesia and who he was before and after remembering his accident. He was shown to be a right rake and libertine (even never really devoting himself to Georgianna again until the very end of the novel), but somehow knew in his bones that if he had married a woman out of nowhere in a fit of passion that he'd agree to give up his mistress and devote his life to her and her family. There definitely could have been a bit more ironing out and weaving of Daniel's personality pre- and post-amnesia.

But! If you like a historical romance novel where the female lead is strong, sticks to her convictions, and does what's needed to care for her family, paired with a rakish Earl who is head over heals obsessed with our female lead even while he doesn't know it... this is for you!

Stacy Reid certainly has a penchant for over-the-top scenarios! Filled with intense longing mixed with fierce independence and pride. The best part? Some serious humbling for the hero.

I read this as a standalone and enjoyed it, but it is part of a series. I could not put it down!

Thank you to NetGalley & the publisher for providing an eARC for review.

I loved this book!! It was fabulous and well done. The characters were on point and I thought the plot was well developed. I would recommend this book to others.

Stacy Reid hasn't written a story that I did not love instantly. This one is no exception. I love how Georgianna was able to salvage her family situation when Rutherford showed up without his memory. Amnesia tropes are always interesting because you know there will be a moment of clarity where all deceptions will be revealed. I was team Georgianna the whole time. It was so much fun having an spoiled earl doing farm work.
This is one of my favorite Stacy Reid's books.

First of all I love a good amnesia trope and I’m already an avid historical romance girly. Stacy Reid has managed to put both of my favorites in one room and I’m here for it. This book was everything I’ve imagined between the chemistry, the angst, and the way his memory came back which was realistic. This book was amazing I highly recommend itttt

This is a fun, kinda over-the-top setup of the MMC having amnesia and the FMC claiming they're married. Not super realistic, but if you're looking for something campy I think this fits the bill!

I love Stacy Reid's writing as it's swoonworthy and sensual and romantic. I will always be a fan!

A historical (and opposite) version of the movie Overboard! Super steamy enemies to lovers kind of romance

When the Earl of Stannis shows up in Miss Georgianna’s little village with no memory of who he is, she takes her revenge. He fired her and didn’t pay her for a recent party that she cooked for. She needed that money to take care of her siblings. Now he can provide some much needed labor around her house while she claims they are married. Daniel the Earl is positive that something about this story makes no sense. But surely his wife wouldn’t lie. As they work together to take care of her siblings and work on the house, they begin to form a real relationship. But will that be torn apart when Daniels memory comes back?

In my opinion the language in the book was unnecessarily crass and I did take a star off for that. I enjoyed the story and would have completely enjoyed it and the steamy romance but the language was unneeded.

Thanks NetGalley and Entangled for a copy so that I could share my opinion.

I always have mixed feelings about the amnesia trope, but there was no way I was going to pass on an Overboard retelling, especially when it's coming from Stacy Reid.

I loved Georgie and Daniel. She's smart and creative and loves her sisters. He's a jerk at first, but it's to be expected and I really enjoyed reading him grow. Together these two have chemistry for days and a good amount of sweet moments. I loved Georgie's little sisters and the scenes of them with Daniel were adorable.

Plot wise, it was good. Of course, the relationship is built on lies, but easier for me to overlook that when he was so horrible to her at the start. I will say that I wanted a bit more towards the end, the resolution seemed a little rushed (and I'm always a sucker for some groveling.)

Overall, this was a fun and quick read with characters I could really root for.

**Huge thanks to the publisher for providing the arc free of charge**

I do love an amnesia plot but there are times when it can go so wrong. Luckily, this is not that book. It reminds me a lot of the movie Overboard except with the wealthy Earl who goes overboard and loses his memories. I liked how he had these vague feelings of memories but wouldn't entirely remember. Georgianna pretends that she is his wife and I admit, the scene where she claims to be his wife seemed a bit out there for me but otherwise, I liked how it played out. The chemistry between the characters were well done and I liked that we get a bit of time after the Earl regains his memories.

thanks to netgalley and the author to the digital advance redear copy 💖

Another delightful historical romance by Stacy Reid. She just does not miss!

Georgianna Heyford gets the chance to cater for one of infamous yacht parties Daniel Rutherford, the Earl of Stannis, throws. She might not be out in society, but even she has heard of the infamous earl. When a conflict between Georgianna and Daniel's mistress ends with Georgianna being fired, she plots vengeance. But even she could not have expected Daniel Rutherford to wash up on the beach, with amnesia and only a vague recollection of Georgianna. Needing to protect her reputation and wanting to recuperate the money she lost out on when she was fired, she convinces Daniel that they are in fact married. She takes him home, where the unsuspecting earl is put to work performing menial jobs. Georgianna assumes it'll be easy to kick Daniel out when the time comes, but the more time he spends with her and her family, the more it feels like he belongs there. At least until his memory returns.

Amnesia plots are always at a risk of ending up completely bonkers and over-the-top. Not so in this story. Daniel knows that something about Georgianna's explanation makes no sense, just like eventually Georgianna begins to suspect that Daniel has regained at least part of his memory. There are still dramatic reveals, obviously, but because the author made sure to have these two characters grow together and appreciate each other, it doesn't come across as totally unbelievable when they do end up staying together.

A decent, serviceable historical romance, but not much else, there are a lot of appealing elements in An Earl to Remember, but they never elevate beyond lukewarm pleasantries towards something more heartfelt or impactful: the references to movie Overboard, the comedic scenes with the amnesiac earl, the steam (possibly the most stimulating aspect of this novel), as well as details about the heroine's relationship with her family and her passion (I would never complain when a book dive deep into food and cuisine). Yet the sum of its part feels a little 'safe' and expected, therefore leaving me rather unfulfilled at the end—I did not hate the experience, but I also feel like I would not have missed out on anything have I not read it.
