I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

An Earl to Remember follows the story of Daniel, the wealthy Earl of Stannis, and Georgianna, an impoverished oldest sister trying to take care of her family. Through a series of mishaps, Daniel loses his memory and Georgie claims they are married. Cue the ridiculousness of an Earl doing farm chores.

This book is hard for me to rate! I wanted to love it. I love Reid’s books and the first book in this series is one of my favorites of hers. But, it missed the mark for me a little bit. I liked both Daniel and Georgie, and really liked her sisters. I think it was something to do with their chemistry… there was something about their initial interactions that threw me off. Overall, I’d give this one 3.5 ⭐️.

All of that being said, I was still entertained and will 100% read book #3!

This was unfortunately not great, so 2,5 stars rounded up.

Georgianna and Daniel met briefly on his yacht party and he didn’t make a great first impression.
When he appeared out of nowhere in her village with no memory of who he was but publicly claiming to know her “carnally”, she had no choice than to say that he was her husband.

It was all very unfortunate because Georgie really deserved better than that conceited shit of an earl.

I guess the guy from the first book was too perfect so this one had to be a dick to balance things out🤷‍♀️. I don’t need a hero to be a virgin but he was busy with his mistress for way too far into the book. What’s worse we had to even witness their kisses 🤢

Besides, the fact that he hadn’t considered marrying Georgie for most of the book even though they clearly had a connection was very annoying. He was willing to force someone to marry Georgie’s sister to save her reputation after they’d kissed, but Georgie was still only worthy of being his new mistress. Huh?

It was still a quick, light and pleasant enough read, but both the story and the hero were a lot better in the previous book.

Thank you Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Okay. Listen, Stacy Reid could write out a grocery list and I would be foaming at the mouth to read it. I haven’t found a book from her that I didn’t enjoy. In fact, most of them have been 5-star favorites, and this one was no different. I was not very knowledgeable about the Overboard connections or storyline, so it was an original and fresh story in my mind. Daniel and Georgie were lovable characters, if a bit flawed, who pulled me into the story from page one. Stacy Reid has a way with words that can leave a reader sitting on the edge of their seats, yearning for the words on the next page.

One thing about Stacy Reid is that she is going to have a bonkers plot for her story. As the oldest sister, Georgie has been given the responsibility to care for her younger sisters after their parents passing. While she loves her sisters more than anything, she also wants to travel the world and learn about other people through the food that they eat. Georgie finally gets the opportunity to do what she loves best as a chef on a private ship belonging to one Lord Stannis. Georgie and the Lord share one look and I could feel the heat between them already. After the party begins, Lord Stannis goes to his private room with his mistress and in a fit of jealousy, the mistress pushes him overboard!

Crazy! But I was loving every second of it.

One of my favorite things about the book was the aspect of found family that Daniel found in Georgie’s sisters. I know Daniel had his own family at home, but the bond that he found with Georgie’s sisters was something I considered irreplaceable, especially to the sisters. I remember one quote from the book where Georgie says that her little sisters didn’t have a father figure growing up since their father died when the girls were so young and she felt Daniel was slowly becoming that figure for them.

I won’t spoil any more of the book, but just know that I loved everything about this book. Stacy Reid really has a way to pull you in with her stories and she has quickly become an auto-buy author for me. I will literally read anything the woman publishes. I’m so excited to work on her backlist. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who wants a crazy time filled with romance, crazy plots, and a great time.

I've read many of Stacy Reid's books, with many of them in my personal 'best of the year' lists. This is the first time, I'm giving 3 stars to any of the many books I previously loved and adored.

An Earl To Remember was difficult for me to get into. The pace of the story was a bit off for me, the first encounter of both hero and heroine was more like assault, and the deception and actions of both didn't quite do it convincingly for me here.

What I did like was the different setting (on a yacht, and actual small farm), the way the sisters supported each other, and the hero's attempts to redeem some of his actions.

I'm looking forward to reading Stacy's next books and thank the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC.

Stacy Reid is always a favorite author and I look forward to reading her books as soon as they are released. While the amnesia and forced labor isn't my favorite storyline, she makes it work with her usual colorful narrative and entertaining characters. Would definitely recommend and hopefully we get to see some of these characters in future stories!

I received an ARC but views are my own.

What an absolute gem! I found Georgianna and Daniel’s love story to be a fun and unique tale, that had me both entertained and engaged the whole way through. I loved the turmoil that Georgianna went through as she grew to love the Earl but still hadn’t told him the truth of the ruse. I absolutely adored watching Daniel get down and dirty in the farm chores with her little sisters and fully immerse himself in the life he was told that he lived. My heart was crushed alongside Georgianna’s when she awoke to find his note. The characters were wonderfully developed, the plot was engaging, the tale was familiar but in a unique and enticing way. The attraction between the two was stellar. I really enjoyed An Earl to Remember.

I’ve always thought that the best books are the ones that cause a physical ache in your chest during emotionally fraught moments and this one delivered!

It’s a bit of a twist on the Overboard story and immensely enjoyable. The characters are well written, and the book stays focused on them without getting too caught up in side stories and ends with a wonderful HEA.

Will definitely be looking for more of her books!!

Even better than the movie!

We're huge fans of the Goldie Hawn/Kurt Russell movie - so much fun and a terrific romance! I'm happy to report that this book takes the same premise and sets it in the Victorian era, then somehow makes it even better with an outstanding cast of characters and plenty of steam.

We met Daniel in the earlier book and knew him to be a rake and a libertine of the highest order. When circumstances progress to make it necessary for Georgie to claim him as her husband, it's more than just revenge she had in mind - his careless comments made it absolutely unavoidable, resulting in her being trapped almost as much as he was. I loved that she was determined to make the best of it by using his presence to square things between them.

And Daniel - whew! What a complex man! He's got a provocatively dirty mouth, an innate sense of who he is even without his memory, and deep down there's some serious moral fiber. The pacing was exquisite, and the ultimate "big reveal" was stunning and devastating in the way he took his own form of sweet revenge. It would have been an unforgivable act if we didn't already know they'd end up together eventually.

I loved everything about this book. It's definitely one of the best by this author, even as much as I've loved every other book of hers I've read. I highly recommend it for anyone who loves historical romances and/or the Overboard movie. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Part Overboard with a little nod to Cinderella thrown in.
An Earl of rakish reputation mistakes the chef his man of business hired to cook for his debauchery yacht as a new person to debauch. When his most recent lover pushes him overboard in a jealous fit, he wakes in an unfamiliar place with no idea who he is.
The chef, one Miss Georgina Heyford decides to get her revenge on the Earl who fired her and now has no idea who he is.
I loved this farcical revenge story. It’s a slow burn with a man learning things about himself that he’s never known.

An Earl to Remember is such a fun book. The heroine is a self starter, ambitious, and determined to help her family. It's an enemies to lovers with a twist, and the steam is just right. This is for fans of Amalie Howard and Tessa Dare.

This story was very similar to "Overboard," one of my favorite 80's films. The movie which starred Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell was a delightful take on the enemies to lovers and amnesia tropes. However, it would be negligent of me if I were to just leave things at that. This book had a serious depth of emotion. The pain that Georgianna felt when circumstances caused her to continually lie to Daniel was palpable. She wanted to tell him the truth so badly, even with the risk of losing him forever. Having lost his memory, Daniel could still sense that something wasn't quite right with his humble surroundings. However, his blossoming feelings for his "wife" made him push his doubts aside. I was on pins and needles waiting for the truth to come out.
I read this book in a day, and I had to wipe my eyes constantly. Georgianna and Daniel were meant to be a real couple!
This story had great characters, witty conversation and plenty of steam. I received a free ARC from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

3.5 rounded to 4 stars. I really like Stacy Reid’s work, but this one wasn’t my favorite book of hers. What I liked: a well-done amnesia plot, which is rare in historical romance; the humor—the number of times Daniel is chased by an animal cracked me up; Daniel’s relationship with Georgie’s sisters; Georgie’s relationship with her sisters; Daniel’s transformation; Georgie’s independence.

What bothered me: at times, some of the sex scenes came out of nowhere or felt over-the-top. It was hard for me to believe that Georgie—a gently-reared country girl whose mother died several years earlier—had the sexual knowledge and comfort with sex (and sexual explicitness) implied in some of these scenes.

Some plot points also just didn’t add up for me: she has never traveled and has little money, so how is she cooking with spices that were unusual (and thus expensive) for their time? Why is Daniel spending so much money before he even knows who he is—wouldn’t he have saved some of it to make it last? How did no one in the town connect Mr. Stannis—the man who washes ashore with amnesia—to the missing Earl of Stannis, who fell off a yacht, especially when his disappearance was in all the papers AND Daniel posted a notice about himself as Mr. Stannis in said papers? I get that HR is in some sense a fantasy genre—it’s why I love the genre—but I can only suspend disbelief so much.

I’m glad I read the book and would recommend to others, but this won’t go down as one of my favorites by Stacy Reid.

Stacy Reid has done it again! I devoured this in one sitting and I loved the Overboard vibes. I knew I would love Georgie and Daniel from the moment they appeared on the same page. It took Georgie a bit to find her voice, but once she did, the dynamic between the two was electric. I also liked Daniel's growth from spoiled Earl to doing work around the manor - milking cows and picking eggs. And running from Hetty. I loved that even when Daniel realized who he really was after seeing his brother, that he was still pulled towards Georgie and was so conflicted. I also like that he found out before the end of the book so we could see what happened afterwards. I feel like a lot of these books just end and we don't get to see the aftermath and the conflict. And seeing the Earl still had fallen for Georgie and found a way to make it work with her. I especially loved when he strong armed Lizzie's fiance into an engagement, that was hot.

Having seen both, I personally adored the remake of the movie Overboard (with Eugenio Derbez 😍 and Anna Faris) and I've also adored the Stacy Reid novels I've previously read so I really wanted to read An Earl to Remember.

I'll admit that in the past, I've tended to shy away from the amnesia trope in a romance (mostly due to concerns about true consent) but AEtR was fantastic (I've also never been a fan of major "my wife" energy but it really, really worked here).

Georgie is a wonderful MFC; you're cheering for her despite her deception, which is written in a way that really, the deception was a preventive measure on her part.

Daniel is a little tougher. I didn't like him much in the beginning of the story but because of his amnesia and spending time with Georgie and her sisters, he underwent character development and growth.

Ms. Reid is wildly successful at writing a truly engaging story and this title was no exception. I really enjoyed my time reading this and, as always, look forward to reading her next works.

4.5 ⭐

ahhhhhh.... Stacy Reid?! What gives?! How do you end up capturing my attention so much in your books? Remember the Wolf and the Wildflower? I do. Bonkers. Captivating. This book is also a bit bonkers and captivating. Amnesia tropes are always bonkers by nature but for some reason a guilty pleasure (While You Were Sleeping and Once More, My Darling Rogue, anyone?). The whole first part had me a bit uncomfortable, but then again, mistaken identity and such... And then the whole BAD idea came to pass once the Earl, Daniel, got amnesia.

Despite the revenge feel to it, the whole "abuse the amnesia patient" wasn't too rough, and it does allow Daniel's character to come through and grow, especially at the beginning when he is feeling the "ennui". There is a lot of activity which makes it believable that their relationship is more than instalust, given their admiration of each other's character. Georgianna has been through a lot of crap and is an aspiring chef who is bearing a lot of the burden of taking care of the home and her sisters. It was really sweet seeing Daniel take care of Georgianna before he got his memory back. And then, it was a bit of a tumultuous ride with our HEA right at the very end. Thank goodness for epilogues!

I would say that some things did irk me:
- language: I don't think that the Earl would say "I am broke", and there were some other things that struck me as waaaay off in terms of language. I know that writers don't always use historical language (like the F word) but it seemed to really throw me off for some reason.
- Georgie's cooking skills: how would she have been able to learn and use such exotic ingredients? Maybe an author's note would be good to provide some historical context.

All in all, it was a nice build and great pacing to keep you entertained.

This novel is based on the story from Overboard - a film I enjoyed growing up. With time, it’s felt a bit more problematic, with an amnesiac essentially being lied to and taken advantage of (which Goldie Hawn plays beautifully in the film, devastated when she understands what has happened). In this novel, Lord Stannis has an unfortunate fall off his yacht and through a series of events, winds up in the care of Georgianna and her sisters. I worried about this one — how could this story go well with such a big lie standing between them? But I shouldn’t have feared, Stacy Reid never fails to suck me right into a story and figure out a way for everything to work out as well. I won’t spoil the details, but very much enjoyed this one!

Miss Georgianna Heyford is hired to cater a luxurious yacht party for Daniel Rutherford, the rakish Earl of Stannis. But a surprise encounter leaves Georgianna fired and furious...and Daniel overboard and without his memory! A sudden, foolish plan gives Georgianna the means to get revenge, but the longer Daniel stays with her and her younger sisters, the more it feels like he belongs.

This is the second book in the Unforgettable Love series. It stands alone, but the couple from the previous book make a small appearance.

This book is a fun and sexy twist on the 1987 RomCom movie, Overboard, in which a snobby heiress (Goldie Hawn) falls off her yacht, suffers amnesia, and is taken in by a contractor (Kurt Russell) who she maliciously fired. In Reid’s version, it’s an Earl who fires the caterer of his yacht party when his mistress gets jealous of his attraction. After his yacht-fall, Daniel doesn’t remember much, but he DOES declare he knows Georgianna’s curvy body! 😮 To protect her reputation from town gossips, she declares he’s her husband!

I enjoyed this book so much and read it in two days. It was the perfect balance of hat-tip to the movie inspiration and an original plot. The pacing was great, and I liked that the reveal came sooner than I expected so that the couple had time to deal with their emotions and the fallout. Plus, great sex and ornery animals always make a story better!

Tropes: Class Difference, Working Heroine, Amnesia, Compromised/Ruined, Revenge, Forced Proximity

Steam: 3 (three full scenes, but felt a lot steamier)

* I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

4.5/5. Releases 8/22/2023.

For when you're vibing with... the 80s bonkers classic Overboard!, amnesia with a dash of the hero almost drowning, very hilarious confused rich man antics, and some.... really active sex for a man who just had a severe head injury.

Georgianna Heyford has heard tell of the Earl of Stannis's rakish behavior; but she can't afford give up the chance to cater his expensive yacht party. Unfortunately, a run-in with the earl (otherwise known as Daniel) goes horribly awry, and she's quickly fired... only for the earl to end up overboard, washed ashore, and with amnesia shortly afterward. The only person he recognizes is Georgianna; he just doesn't know how he knows her. In order to avoid a scandal (and perhaps get some sweet revenge) Georgianna claims the mysterious man is her husband... But the more time she spends with Daniel, the more she begins to wish it wasn't all a lie.

Stacy Reid knows how to write a fun, kinda bonkers, super sexy book--she throws caution to the wind and writes what she wants. I can feel the joy in the pages.

Quick Takes:

--I love Overboard!, a movie that is somewhat controversial today due to the premise being "Kurt Russell tells rich bitch amnesiac Goldie Hawn that she's actually his wife and makes her act as a servant to him and his horrible redneck children". I hate the Overboard! gender-flipped remake for many reasons, in part because it doesn't go far enough. This book is a nice middle ground. The gender flip is right here, and Reid wrings it out for all the humor it's worth, because it's honestly fun to see a fancy fuckboy look aghast at this woman's hovel and go "there is no.... way... I live.... here". (Daniel, I'm a huge fan of your work.) The power divide is also a lot stronger in this setting, because, while Georgianna is a gentleman's daughter, she's not doing super well financially and is basically a single woman acting as a guardian to these younger girls in the 1800s, a time in which she has little power and little way to make a living. Which in turn makes Daniel's comeuppance more deserving. It all makes sense, even if the premise is objectively wacky.

--I also really liked how this man had to like? Learn how to do basic household chores? Learn how to DAD in a sense? If there's one thing I enjoy in a historical romance, it's a rake who knows how to fuck but doesn't super know how to do much else. Daniel is not a competent hero to begin with (though he's not, like, a total buffoon either). He has to learn competence, and though I'm not typically one to get all hot and bothered by a man doing basic housework, in this book............ it does a number on you.

--I think that Stacy Reid is also right to basically put most of the fault on Daniel in this iteration. In the original Overboard!, both parties are at fault. Goldie doesn't pawn Kurt for some labor. Kurt gaslights her into being an unpaid housekeeper/nanny (as a prank! It's meant to be temporary but then he falls in love! It's fine!). Mistakes were made. Here, I think that Georgianna's options being much more limited make the heartache more... intense? Because like, yeah, this man's family is looking for him and he deserves to know the truth and so on. But really, she does not have a lot of solid choices here. So her guilt feels more impactful because while she's fucking up, she's a good person who doesn't want to hurt him, and you can feel her falling in love with him, and you know he's falling in love with her but he just! Doesn't! Know! And that takes you to a good angst city, despite the book being in many ways super fluffy and hilarious.

--I love an emotional fallout moment, and ooh, the emotional fallout in this one is delicious. There's pain. There's vengeance. There's trickery. There's some "I was half a virgin when I met you" feeling to it, which I love immensely. Like, dude, if you're gonna be all "she's not my wife", you probably need to, I don't know, stop calling her your wife. Except don't, because I'm living for it.

The Sex Stuff:

Stacy Reid writes a hot sex scene, especially when it comes to her heroes going down, because. The enthusiasm with which a Stacy Reid hero goes to town is truly something to behold. There's also really good dirty talk in this one, a nice mixture of tenderness and hardcore fucking, and like, the best sense ever that this dude is absolutely obsessed with her. Also, there's an excellent scene where he details exactly how he's going to fuck her, and proceeds to do just that. Gotta appreciate follow through. That's what happens when a man has to do work for the first time ever in his life.

I loved An Earl to Remember. It's fun, it's like candy, it's hot, it's a little crazy. It's what I want a Stacy Reid novel to be.

A Matter of Temptation was one of my favorite romances last year so I had to get my hands on An Earl to Remember.

Stacy Reid's historical romances are simply addicting. I could not for the life of me put this book down. I needed to read it every second of the day until I was done. This is a historical retelling of the movie Overboard with a gender swap as the extra twist. I think the amnesia trope is truly well done here.

The characters are what honestly made this unforgettable. Reformed rake & revenge seeking heroine were a magical duo. I loved their interactions. It was funny. It was romantic. I had a blast!

If you love historical romcoms with a wacky plot, you'll need this book.
