I'm an absolute fan of the amnesia plot, and wanted to try to read this one as I saw it highly recommended and also I loved her previous books.
Unfortunately, it was not my favorite from Reid. To start with, I get that the male character wasbeing portrayed as a debauched and scandalous rogue and feel like bit confused about what actually he wants to feel about heroine and other female "lust interest"( as it was not love obviously) however to me it was icky. The scene where he was planning to sleep with 3 women at the same time? Completely lost me there.
Tbh, I generally skimmed through the whole story. The plot is nothing new; it's been done before and failed to retain my interest.
2.75 stars for me..
Thank you to the publisher for the ARC via Netgalley.
Stacy Reid is one of my favorite historical romance authors and An Earl to Remember is one of her finest works. She’s written a fun, refreshing take on the amnesia trope. I read it in one sitting on my phone (which is not something I usually like to do… but I didn’t have any choice). The hero and heroine meet on a yacht where the hero is hosting a birthday party (with his mistress) and the heroine is working as a chef. Shenanigans happen and he ends up with amnesia and she claims him as her husband. The reasons for this deception are understandable given the situation so I wasn’t irritated with the heroine for putting herself in a ridiculous situation. The food descriptions are divine. The love between the sisters and how the hero integrated the family made me love the characters. I loved An Earl to Remember. 5/5, will read again.
Open door romance, explicit.
I was extremely fortunate to receive an ARC of An Earl To Remember by the fantastic Stacy Reid from Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This story is remarkable in it's vivid descriptions and humorous banter. Miss Georgianna Eleanor Heyford hopes to be a recognized chef and cookbook author one day. Daniel Rutherford, the 14th Earl of Stannis, is a womanizing confirmed bachelor who wants nothing to do but waste his life away in pleasure doing whatever with whomever. A misunderstanding occurs when Daniel assumes Georgie, the chef at his yacht party to be a lady of the night and kisses her with abandonment only to be astonished at the feelings she inspires. When his mistress sees them in a passionate embrace, she loses her cool and in a temperamental fit, accidentally pushes Daniel overboard. Miracles of miracles, of all the places he could have been, Daniel is found washed ashore in Georgiana's village. Unfortunately, he has lost his memory and when he sees Georgiana, all he remembers is having her in his arms and claims as much forcing Georgiana to lie that he is her husband to protect her character. As a "married" couple, they fall a little infatuation with each other until the moment that Daniel regains memory of who he is and what Georgiana has done. This story is bewitching, amazing and entertaining. Stacy Reid had me hooked from the very start. There was a moment in the story when Georgiana felt her vulnerability and the burdens of responsibility of raising her sisters that really resonated with me and made me feel ber anguish and pain. I absolutely loved this story. Another superhit fantastic story by Stacy Reid, now one of my favorite authors.
Stacy Reid can do no wrong in my eyes, and An Earl to Remember is no exception. A regency take on the classic Splash, Georgianna teaches the insufferable Earl of Stannis a very big lesson...until she falls in love with the amnesiac lord. Witty, swoony and sexy - this new Reid story has all of her trademark skill that make each of her books so enjoyable.
This is between a 3.5 and 4 for me.
In classic Stacy Reid style, this is a very unique story, even with the similarities to Overboard.
Georgie is trying to raise her three sisters in their falling down manor after the death of her parents and also trying to get paid and live her dreams as a chef. She's hired to cook on Lord Stannis's ship, and after a heated look shared across the room, their chemistry leads the Earl to believe she is meant to join his party with multiple women that night.
A jealous mistress demands he fire Georgie when she sees how he looks at her, and therefore, Georgie must leave the ship with no pay. The Earl and his mistress argue, she pushes him overboard, he gets amnesia, and winds up in Georgie's town where she quickly lays claim to him as her husband to preserve her reputation.
Bonkers. And also delightful.
By far the best part about the whole book was watching who the Earl became at Georgie's home. The way he wanted to give her the entire world but felt restrained by his believed lack of finances was BEAUTIFUL. Watching this fancy Earl do hard manual labor and do it happily for his wife was enough to melt me.
Daniel was pretty unlikable in the beginning, a Rake in every sense of the word, and...it was pretty distasteful, but I was ready for the character development that could bring.
I think the main reason this is a 4 instead of a five is for how much of their relationship was based purely off their physical chemistry, and that final moment right before the end which had me doubting if Daniel had grown as a character at all.
This one definitely requires some suspension of disbelief but I was happy to do it as I find Stacy's books to just be such a good time.
Not as good as the first in the series but a book I'd still recommend.
I received an ARC for review
✨Overboard and under an Earl✨
It’s no secret that I absolutely love the amnesia trope, but An Earl to Remember easily stands out as the perfect Overboard histrom counterpart. It’s also true that Overboard is one of my favorite movies, so really I’m majorly biased…but good lord I loved this book so much.
It was delightfully hot and delightfully faithful to the original romcom film. The book perfectly captured my favorite parts of the movie, while seamlessly adapting them to a historical setting. Sometimes romances based on movie plots miss the tone or feeling of the original film, but An Earl to Remember exceeded all of my expectations. It was such an easy five stars.
✨
I can see people being put off by Daniel in the beginning, but no actually he’s my darling angel baby and I won’t stand for that!! JK I understand, but I knew he was going to be put to WORK (like in the movie) so I didn’t mind. Also he’s hot. What can I say???
I’m so sorry, but by the end there he really said yes I’ll do the cooking, yes I’ll do the cleaning, yes I’ll do my WIFE in every room in the house!! The 😤my WIFE😤 energy absolutely ravished me. Good God. I lost my mind every time he opened his arms and she just ran into them. And he was so cute with her sisters! And they loved him so much :,)
Georgie all around was a lovely heroine, and I was rooting for her the entire book. Personally, I think she did the only logical thing by claiming him as her husband!! An enterprising woman!! Revenge is hot!! Also she was just such a good person, and her relationship with her sister’s was incredibly sweet.
She was also a hot chef!! The cooking content—specifically that big, sweet amnesiac man cooking for her—was such a lovely addition to the story!! I love reading about food in books and have already added this to my histroms x cooking list. Definitely be prepared to overestimate your cooking abilities after reading this book, because you’ll be HUNGRY.
✨
I momentarily forgot this was book two in a series, but then we saw Stanick and Mina and I promptly lost all of my senses. A Matter of Temptation was a top book of 2022 and An Earl to Remember is easily a top book of 2023. I can’t wait to see what the series has in store next, because the teasers have TEASED. Consider me properly feral.
Every time I read a book by Stacy Reid, I’m reminded why she’s one of my favorite authors. Her books just *get me* in a way not many others do. I love her pacing and problem solving within the plots; she’s not afraid to choose the softest path or the most chaotic one. (Both were chosen here.)
Reading this book after a handful of contemporary romances was actually the best decision I’ve ever made. I was reading great books don’t get me wrong, but historical romance—specifically historical romance written by Stacy Reid—is always going to hit different. This book is everything I look for in a historical romance novel and more. So much more. It was funny, charming, and incredibly endearing.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️*/5
*WHOO. Okay Stacy definitely upped the spice level from book one! This was HOT. I will say the Chekhov’s 69 threw me for a loop?? Give the people (me) what they want! But everything else was perfection.
Thanks so much to the publisher for an eARC via NetGalley. All opinions are honest and my own.

pros:
where do i even start? okay i know:
Name: Daniel Rutherford
Title: Earl of Stannis
Occupation: Running away from cantankerous chicken, throwing baleful looks at cows, running after carriages with one shoe with a determined dog at his heels chewing the other
• what a delightful man, oh my god. this was my first time reading the amnesia trope in a historical romance novel and I was pleasantly surprised. The romance between daniel and gerorgianna was perfect. this was swoony, emotional, angsty and just brought out a LOT in me. i was constantly agitated but in a good way¿
• i loved how he kept calling her "wife" even after he found out they weren't rlly married.
• the writing, of course, was phenomenal. i love how stacy reid's writing flows and the way she chooses to tell a story. there are so many hilarious and swoon worthy moments in this book. i feel so blessed to have read this early. i will say a matter of temptation is always going to be my favourite.
• it felt extremely realistic for gerorgianna to fall in love with him for the reasons she did. i loved seeing her be able to lean on someone else while she was struggling.
• the love confession at the end was EVERYTHING
• the sisters are so cute and i love how he bonded with them. they were so wholesome. overall, this was such a fun, swoony, entertaining and emotional read for me. i may have teared up at the love confession in the end. i have not had a single disappointment by stacy reid so far and I am beyond elated.
cons:
• There are parts where I found it hard to suspend my disbelief like how he's not allowed to do a lot of strenuous work because of his head injury but he literally helps with chores that are very taxing.
• i wasn't able to get as invested in these characters as I was in A Matter of Temptation
• i wasn't a huge fan of the repetetive smut but that's a me thing
tropes:
💛 rake hero
💛 amnesia trope
💛 fake marriage
💛 angry chicken and cows
💛 emotional but spicy
💛 financially struggling heroine
💛 chef heroine
🌻 class difference
🌻 fake marriage
🌻 amnesia
🌻 reformed rake
Since her parents death, Miss Georgianna Heyford has been in charge of her family's estate and the care of her three young sisters. She has a passion for cooking and accepts a job catering a yacht party that Daniel, the Earl of Stannis is hosting. Daniel is a rake with a scandalous reputation. Due to some miscommunications between the two, Georgianna is fired from the yacht on her first day's work, without receiving her full wage.
Later, Georgianna is shocked when the Earl washes up ashore at her small town of Crandell, not remembering who he is. To protect her reputation and get revenge for the Earl's treatment of her, she claims they're married and has him work off what money's owed to her on their estate. What she doesn't count on is falling in love with the rake along the way.
I'm not typically a fan of the amnesia trope but with Stacy Reid's captivating writing, I found myself hooked from the beginning and could not put this story down! Georgianna is a strong and self sacrificing heroine. I loved her devotion to her sisters and the bonds they shared. Daniel is an unlikeable character at the beginning but I really enjoyed seeing his growth throughout. His treatment and protection of Georgianna's sister's was so special and their shenanigans around the farm together were the best! 😂 Daniel and Georgianna's relationship had it's complications but their chemistry was palpable and made for a great story. Also his declaration of love at the end.....sooo swoony!! 🥰
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I want to preface this to say I have read many many Stacy Reid books and she is one of my favorite romance writers. I follow her on instagram and wait eagerly for her books. I am really sorry to write this review, I am midway through this book and I cannot go any further. The book does not get better, the hero is almost unredeeming, the entire premise is even for a romance novel ludicrous, and the heroine doesn't come off great either. The book may be a waste of both their times, and mine.
I look forward to her next book which has to be better than this one.
Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review
4.5 Stars! Stacy Reid knocks it out of the park yet again, folks! This is the second book in the ‘Unforgettable Love’ series & can be read as a standalone. Lovers of the movie ‘Overboard’ will love this book as this book reminded me of that movie with Kurt Russel and Goldie Hawn. The main characters are Danial/Earl of Stanniss and Miss Georgianna Heyford. I loved Georgiana from the beginning, she was kind, strong and didn’t take poo from nobody! But I didn’t care for the Earl, I preferred Danial, the Earl, but with no memory. He was sweet and caring and lovable. As the Earl, he was a manHo with an arrogant, superior attitude who just rubbed me the wrong way. Wish he had changed a bit earlier and that he had put his family in their place in regards to Georgianna more too. Bunch of snobs back then, and I guess we still have snobs like that today but it seemed to be much worse for the aristocracy back then. The ‘sexy times’ scenes were heat inducing and I loved them. I can’t wait for the rest of this series as these first two books have been exceptional! The ending of the story was funny and the epilogue made me smile! Stacy Reid is one of the best romance authors of today and her works have always been winners in my book! Definitely recommend this book and the first book in this series, they are both winners!
*I received this at no charge & I voluntarily left this review.*
This is a great historical romance with Overboard feels. This book was better than the remake they did a few years ago. Georgianna was a great heroine and big sister, and Daniel was everything I love in a hero. I wasn't sure about him at first, but he won me over almost immediately. I am loving this series and can't wait to read about the heroes two remaining friends.
t pains me to say this.
I adore Stacy Reid's writing and she has written several of my all time favorite historical romances. Like the first book in this series, which is 100/5 stars for me. But this one just didn't hit the same.
First, I'm not a fan of the mega man-whore hero who has orgies and a mistress at the start of the story. I mean he literally has a mistress when he kisses the heroine for the first time. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
And then we have all of the lying which I understood, but felt like she didn't have to explain herself enough. And the hero lies too. They're both lying to each other and keep making promises and leaving each other knowing they are lying. It just doesn't make the best basis for a relationship.
And then we have the love declarations that felt sooooo premature to me. I truly didn't see a relationship formed and honestly what did she even like about him? Not that I wanted to read it, but this book needed to be longer if I'm supposed to believe they actually loved each other and it wasn't just lust.
I'm still die hard for Stacy Reid but I just don't think these tropes worked for me.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an Advanced Reader's Copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
An Earl to Remember is an enjoyable story about Georgianna and Daniel with Daniel suffering from amnesia and Georgianna using that opportunity to pretend to be his wife.
I really liked this book, interested to see how things would unfold as the story progressed. I found Daniel's character a bit unlikeable in parts but while he had amnesia, he was actually quite sweet and he held onto some of that when his memory returned. I liked Georgianna's character. She was strong and bold and her banter with Daniel was thoroughly entertaining to read.
Stacy Reid is SPICY. For folks who want Lisa Kleypas or Sarah MacLean bt with more heat, she's your girl. The hero in this one was really an out and out jerk at the beginning and I wasn't sure how his redemption arc would work, but let's be honest there is a great deal of suspension of disbelief to these titles and as long as you're willing to go along with it, it's a fun and fast read.
I have mixed feelings about this one. I love Stacy Reid’s writing and always become easily immersed in her stories. This had an interesting premise similar to the movie Overboard, which I loved. I also really liked the sisterly bonds and relationships. Georgianna is so devoted to her sisters, and their relationship is wonderful. And as much as I like some parts of the romance, there were several aspects I couldn’t get behind.
Daniel is a great example of how some people leave terrible first impressions. He’s a scandalous rake with a reputation, especially in his romantic affairs, and this is highlighted at the start of the book when Georgiana first meets him. He is not the type of man who is ever short of company, and he seems to pride himself on it. These initial scenes present him in such a negative light. I didn’t like his character and wasn’t sure my opinion of him would change. And the way he talks about Georgianna when he first learns they are married is so degrading and insulting. How can she fall for a man who thinks her plain and “obviously below me in every regard?” His treatment of women in general left a bad taste in my mouth.
I did like some of Georgianna and Daniel’s more tender moments. Their relationship is angsty and sweet and passionate, and while he is struggling to remember who he is, it seems like they are falling in love. However, their entire relationship is built on lies, disdain, and revenge. As Daniel adjusts to his new surroundings and becomes a part of Georgianna’s family, he definitely endears himself more to the reader, especially as he starts to embrace his life with her and her sisters and their motley crew of animals. There were several really comical scenes that I adored. Daniel shows a softer, more kind and loving side of himself that we didn’t see prior to his amnesia. He shows so much growth and becomes a better man. But as soon as he regains his memory, Daniel turns into an unlikeable and cold man again, and he does something to Georgianna that was so wrong. Even though she deceived him, the fact that he got revenge on her by further ruining her reputation, which he already slandered (hence her lie about being married), really bothered me.
Daniel did redeem himself a bit, but it took some time, and I didn’t like that he toyed with Georgianna’s feelings so much. I just couldn’t get behind their relationship even with his gallant and romantic proclamations. Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.
3.5 stars
I don't particularly love stories where one party keeps secrets from or lies to the other, but I do love Stacy Reid and really liked the first book in this series. The fact that my review for book 1 specified that I really didn't like the hero's friends and hoped they weren't future protagonists notwithstanding, I decided to give it a shot. Mostly, I'm glad I did. That said, there are some awkward parts.
Georgie as a heroine is likable, minus The Big Lie. She's an extremely talented chef, which is a little hard to buy into as she's had no training apart from her mother (who also had no training unless I missed that part) and very little funds for buying ingredients to experiment with.
Daniel is supposedly a rake's rakes, though aside from the beginning where he plans to take three women to bed and, later, his very bawdy way of talking to Georgie, he doesn't seem all that rake-y. Add in the fact that he works hard to fulfill his duties, cares for his extensive list of employees, loves his Nana, and enjoys his family, and you kind of wonder if he's a rake at all.
The two are good together. Because he's lost his memory, he can be just a good, hardworking family man for a while. When the truth comes out, his response is hard to define. He's furious, but is he? He wants revenge, but does he? The confrontation between Georgie and Daniel is missing, as are the ramifications. There's not really an effort made to explain how Georgie will go on in a village that thinks she's married to Daniel. And Daniel motivation for leaving her but going back and then leaving and then bringing her to London is a little murky.
All this aside, the story reads well and is one I wanted to finish. I'll continue to pick up a Reid novel whenever possible, even if I wasn't over the moon about this one.
I received an ARC of this book for free from the publisher and Netgalley. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion. Thanks!
Miss Georgianna Eleanor Heyford is wrongly fired from a catering gig aboard a yacht party, so when the absolute rake of a host, Daniel Rutherford, the Earl of Stannis, falls overboard and gets amnesia, Georgiana pretends to be his wife to get revenge and make him work off the money he owes her.
Yes, the premise is bananas. But Stacy Reid has impressed me with bananas premises before and I liked Daniel and Georgiana together while he had amnesia.
Daniel was unlikable in A Matter of Temptation and he’s not much better here. He does something pretty vengeful after he recovers his memory that I found hard to forgive. Georgiana also acts out of revenge, but she is desperately trying to provide a life for her orphaned younger sisters.
It’s a good character-driven plot, and I love Stacy Reid. My personal preference is just for heroes who aren’t quite so cold, no matter how strong the redemption arc is.
This was a fun fake marriage (amnesia) story! The relationship between the FMC & MMC gave me very Pride & Prejudice vibes - both strong, stubborn and perfect for each other!
3.5 stars!
I love historical romance and I love Stacy Reid! The mmc (Daniel) is literally a playboy of the playboy, like he was getting ready for some steamy stuff and then now he has amnesia. He's problematic behavior and stuff got me mad and annoyed but it really kept the plot going! I love the character development that Daniel has in this book and Georgianna does feel guilty for tricking Daniel but their relationship gets deeper and the chemistry and tension is rrly good. This book has great spice and it was such a fast read! Also love Georgianna is a great cook we love that and I love cooking content in boookssss!
Thank you netgalley, Stacy Reid, and Entangled Publishing for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!
