It is such a unique plot and this book was a very quick read. I wish there were more relationship develop after he recovered from amnesia. This has low angst (even though he had amnesia and she lied to him!). When he realized she deceived him, he was just like “guess i deserved it cuz i was a dick!”

Anyway, if you like insta-love then this is your book!

This is the second book in the series and a great addition. It was a delightful story and escape read. I loved the take on amnesia to romance.
Many thanks to Entangled Publishing and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

swoony, charming retelling of the movie Overboard, this book had be smiling and giggling the entire time. I can't recommend this book enough for fans of Historical romances, Fake marriage trope and the amnesia trope. Let me start by saying Daniel is the CEO of the phrase “my wife”. Every time he said it sarcastically or as a term of endearment I melted. The plot was fantastic and the found family aspect with Georgianna’s sisters was adorable. Daniel would do anything for Georgiana and the way their relationship progressed was perfect. The ending was absolute perfection and I loved the sneak peak into Georgianna’s success.

Stacey has a way of taking a common trope or storyline and making it a historical romance because this is overboard in a historical romance.

Did I know I needed this? No, but did I have a great time reading it? Yes I did

This romance is a fun time - give it a try if you need some relief between those heavier reads.

The Overboard inspiration is so fun here and honestly what are you doing if you are not reading Stacy Reid? She is one of the best in my opinion currently writing new and fresh historical romance. This is a book worthy of devouring in a day like I did.

Finally, a historical romance version of my favorite 80's movie Overboard. As always, Reid's storytelling is delightful and steamy. I loved this book, and the hijinks that ensued were great.

Stacy Reid's "An Earl to Remember" takes the reader on a captivating historical romance journey with a unique twist. I was completely absorbed in the story and found myself reading it in a single sitting.

The story revolves around Georgianna, a young woman determined to secure her family's well-being. Her passion for cooking fuels her ambition to cater for the affluent residents of her community, with the hope of earning enough to provide for her family. Her dedication to her family's welfare is truly admirable.

Georgianna's life takes an unexpected turn when she seizes the opportunity to prepare a lavish feast for the Earl of Stannis. She is filled with excitement and hope as she embarks on her first paying job. However, her initial elation quickly turns to disappointment when she becomes embroiled in a shocking incident. Daniel Rutherford, the Earl, is hosting a grand soirée and unknowingly hires a chef of exceptional culinary talents. Unfortunately, he fails to recognize Georgianna and mistakenly attempts to seduce her, only to be caught in the act by his mistress. As a result, Georgianna is dismissed, and the Earl's evening takes a dramatic turn when he is left stranded on a yacht, abandoned by his mistress.

The story takes an intriguing twist when Georgianna and Daniel cross paths again a few days later. Their encounter, in front of a curious audience, is filled with surprises as Daniel's amnesia prevents him from recalling anything beyond Georgianna's name. To protect her reputation and her family, Georgianna concocts a daring plan: pretending to be married to Daniel, a man who remembers nothing except the need to work.

As the tale unfolds, Georgianna finds herself in a challenging predicament, while Daniel is helpless due to his amnesia. "An Earl to Remember" is a delightful historical romance that skillfully weaves together passion, intrigue, and a touch of humor as it explores the uncharted territory of amnesia and mistaken identity, leaving readers eagerly turning the pages to discover how this unique love story will evolve.

Full disclosure: the amnesia trope doesn't always work for me. I thought Stacy Reid did a good job with it here, though. Aside from amnesia, the book's tropes include compromised/ruined, class difference, revenge, and forced proximity. There's plenty of steam as well. This was a good read.

I received an ARC from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

Sadly this book was a miss for me, not sure I could recommend except to the most devoted fans of the amnesia trope.

First, I really didn’t connect with the characters. Georgianna just seemed rather bland, I really couldn’t tell you what her personality is because it seemed to change with every scene. She is also lacking in good judgment, making lots of bad decisions throughout the story, especially considering she’s responsible for her three younger sisters. Daniel, the love interest and the amnesiac, is really unlikable for much of the book and doesn’t get his act together until literally the final pages. Unlike some other reviewers, I wasn’t bothered by his promiscuity. But he is a selfish snob and treats Georgianna badly several times. I didn’t really care much for these characters and whether they got together or not. And I didn’t see much joy in their relationship either.

There were also lots of things about the writing that annoyed me. Inconsistencies, uneven style (sometimes stiff and stilted, other times casual and modern), lots and lots of tell rather than show, wordy (sometimes I’d read a longwinded sentence or paragraph and then wonder why it was even there?), awkward and poor grammar and usage (I encountered a few double negatives that made sentences really hard to decipher). One bit of personal preference in the writing style, there’s entirely too much use of the words wanton, wicked, and carnal in Georgianna’s thoughts whenever she and Daniel kissed (or more). That tendency for historical romance heroines to implicitly judge themselves while enjoying pleasure…a huge turnoff for me. This might not bother other readers though.

Even with the weak characters and subpar writing, there is an interesting kernel of a story here. I would’ve liked for the class and wealth differences to be explored a bit more. I didn’t love Georgianna’s deception but I understood her reasons, getting revenge on a rich man. I thought the middle of the story shows how a family working together can be a more fulfilling life than having all the money of the aristocracy. But I that thread doesn’t carry through the entire story. Indeed the moral of the story does seem to be that money will let you do what you want in life.

In sum, this was a lackluster read with characters that I wasn’t invested in and a story that gets bogged down with poor writing.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC I received.

Well, that was fun! There are a few tropes happening here in this book - reformed rake/fake marriage/amnesia, with a touch of mistaken identity and Cinderella thrown in for good measure. When we meet Daniel Rutherford, the Earl of Stannis, he appears to be ripe for reformation - he's aging out of the rake role, at least mentally. It's been fun, but he recognizes the time has come to fully embrace all the responsibilities of his title, and to stop avoiding those that don't amuse him (specifically, marriage). Enter Georgianna Heyford, a gentleman's daughter who is well aware of his reputation, but circumstances dictate that she must earn a living to support herself and her household. And her most marketable skill is her talent and passion for cooking. When she's hired to cater a his birthday party on his yacht, she knows it's an opportunity she can't turn down. Her food is a huge hit - but a case of mistaken identity leads to her being fired. Daniel subsequently falls overboard and is washed ashore with no memory of who is is, and Georgianna sees a way to exact some revenge, or at least get back what she feels she's owed. It's a romance, so we know where the story is going, it's just a matter of how they'll get there. And this was an enjoyable journey indeed.

An Earl to Remember by Stacy Reid is a historical romance with an interesting twist. I read the novel in one sitting and was engrossed. Georgianna has been struggling with finding ways to keep her family safe. She loves to cook and knows that her cooking for the rich people in the area will help her pay for the supplies for her family. She is trying to do the best she can for her family.

An opportunity comes for her to cook for the Earl of Stannis’s lavious party. She is excited, hopeful and filled with joy at her first paying job. Only that sure didn’t turn out the way it should have. Daniel Rutherford was hosting a lavious party and hired a chef with remarkable skills. Too bad he didn’t recognize Georgianna as the chef and was seducing her when his mistress walked in. Georgianna was cast out. Daniel was then pushed off his yacht and left for dead by his mistress.

Imagine the surprise, when a couple of days later, Georgianna recognizes him and he recognizes her in front of many busybodies. His amnesia stops him from remembering anything more than Georgianna. Pretending to be married is her only way to save her reputation and her family. Georgianna is in a pickle and Daniel does not remember anything to help him or her, except to work.

An Earl to Remember by Stacy Reid is a fun read with a great storyline.

4 stars — This is one of those books that kind of challenged me, b/c honestly? There were aspects that I was initially NOT a fan of. And I think I’m still thinking of them. But at the same time, b/c of those aspects, I think I was surprised at how much I ended up loving the parts I loved. Vague enough for you? *snort*

Here’s the thing. I think I requested this book based purely on author alone. I’ve really been enjoying Ms. Reid (though I will admit, they’re not guaranteed hits for me). I reread the blurb after I started, and I feel like I’m glad I didn’t reread it earlier b/c I’m not entirely sure I would have thought it was my thing. I’m not a revenge/vengeance girl. And this…isn’t quite that. I mean, to a degree, but not as salaciously as the blurb makes it sound. Part of it is trying to get recompense for how she was slighted, but part of it is trying to save her reputation. And deep down, Georgie is a kind-hearted person, so she waffles a lot about what’s she doing. So it’s not a MWAHAHA situation so much as a balance of fiery indignation with concern with fear with…just lots of feelings.

I actually really enjoyed Georgie. She was really quite complicated, especially for a woman of her times…times that were on the verge of changing. She had dreams and passions that were only barely acceptable for a woman of her station. She had huge responsibility for her family, whom she truly loved and cared for so much. And she was doing her best trying to balance all that. Even her occasional recklessness with her reputation (ie her desires for physical intimacy) were something that puts her in the sex positive column for a modern woman, but were scandalous for that time. I know that probably bothers historical romance reading purists, but I appreciated the reality of it. I loved that deep down she was a caring person, but someone who was pushing those boundaries in trying to right some wrongs done to her. She was flawed, but she was fiery and funny and lovely.

And if Georgie was complicated, Daniel was complicated to the point of almost confounding. I was NOT a fan of Daniel in the beginning. I know men like him existed, and were probably the norm of that time, but it’s not someone you expect for your romance hero, you know? Oh sure, readers say they want rakes, but then they balk at the reality of a rake. And you do get to see him being a full rake at the beginning — cold, arrogant, ruthless, and 100% in for some debauchery. If you have zero tolerance for that, steer clear. But here’s the thing — somehow Ms. Reid made his journey interesting. I think what I reluctantly admired about his journey is that it wasn’t easy and fairytale-ish, where he just has amnesia, learns the love of a good woman, regains his memories, and poof is a different person. That may be what I wanted initially, but I think I would have been annoyed at the lack of realism in that transformation. Instead we got someone who struggled with it, who still felt elements of his natural personality, but because of being thrown into a made up situation that he believed to be true, he was able to explore other facets of himself. And then he remembers, and he kind of initially goes back to who he feels he truly is. And yes, I was disappointed in some of his choices. But I also saw that they became more complicated as he was supposedly getting his revenge. And part of me wanted him to change sooner, but part of me appreciated that it took him time to wrap his head around how he had changed and grown, and how to make that fit into his *real* life. I guess, in the end, it made it more believable.

Since their relationship was so bizarre, filled with lies and all that, I wasn’t sure how I would feel about them together. Sometimes I wasn’t a fan of Daniel pushing, but in the end he did respect her boundaries (mostly). I never felt uncomfortable. And there were so many sweet and beautiful moments that made me smile. Not to mention the steamy connection was palpable.

I think where the story really shined was the dynamic of Georgie with her sisters, and how that affected Daniel as well. I truly loved it.

So yeah. It was 100% different than I was expecting, but I think I was surprised how much I enjoyed it given how reticent I was about Daniel at the beginning. I guess for other readers it depends if you’re looking for pure fairytale, or if realism is something you can appreciate…even if it makes you uncomfortable at times.

An aspiring chef, Georgianna Eleanor Heyford, has agreed to cater a three day party on a yacht owned by Daniel Rutherford, 14th Earl of Stannis. During the party, his mistress has organized her own "party" for him with two special guests she invited. Georgianna, while delivering several dishes to his room, and Daniel thinks she is one of the ladies invited. As he kisses Georgianna, his mistress appears, and notices how interested Daniel is during the passionate embrace. . While her dishes were fabulous, Daniel's mistress, out of jealousy, manages to get Georgianna fired. Daniel finds out, and ends up getting shoved off his yacht by his mistress when he dismisses her.
Daniel washes ashore close to where Georgianna lives, and recognizes her face when he sees her. He then claims to have slept with her. To protect her reputation, Georgianna announces Daniel is her husband, and takes him home. If you've seen the original "Overboard." you can see where this goes, and in a FABULOUS way, Victorian England style, I might add. Out for revenge, she gives him a list of things he has to do, and all of them require hard, manual labor. He is convinced he's never done any hard labor, but does as requested. They begin to refer to each other as husband and wife, and both start developing deep feelings for one another. She has three younger sisters who never want to let him go, and will not divulge his true identity.
I love this story. It is the first novel I have read by Stacy Reid. I plan to read more. While this is the second in a series, it is a stand alone novel. You can tell there is a previous novel when Daniel visits a friend and his wife, and they catch up with each other. There are also a couple of hints indicating possible future novels. We definitely know who the next friend is if there is another novel.
Even though it follows the lost memory/they fall in love/memory recovered, it is written very well, and is quite funny as well as romantic. I adore Hettie, a background character. They are both strong characters, and it is shown throughout the story.
I do have issues regarding guilt and revenge on both parts. Georgianna doesn't show enough guilt while he has no memory, and never tries to help him. Daniel's revenge was done out of spite, and just bothered me. While I knew the outcome, it still bothered me.
This novel is definitely one of my go-to reads when I want to read something but not a new story. They are both wonderful characters, and there are really good background characters as well. I want his grandmother to be in my family. I will definitely recommend this to my friends, and go back to read the first in the series as well.
There are a few graphic intimate scenes. There is definitely no question as to what was happening in those scenes. It is not erotica, and written in a classy way.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you are a historical romance lover and you have not picked up Stacy Reid yet, what are you doing with your life? Reid is definitely a top tier historical romance author and a definite must read. Her most recent contribution to the genre is An Earl to Remember and it is absolutely everything I would hope for and expect from her! This novel takes the amnesia trope using inspiration from the movie Overboard to give us a perfect historical mash up! Reid's writing is engaging, clear, sexy and romantic. Reid knows how to quickly and easily draw her readers in, she is smart about the crafting of her characters and gives them all the delicious layers needed to make them interesting and complicated, she weaves her plots with the building of a deep and true romance at its center. Absolutely do yourself a favor and pick up this (or another of her novels) today!

I love an amnesia trope and this novel does a wonderful job of using this as a jumping off point for the hero and heroine to true be striped down to their base layers and get to know each other on a deeper level. This is a class difference romance, in which our heroine Georgianna is an independent and hard worker, she has dreams and goals but she also sees the reality of the situation she and her family are in. She uses her cooking skills to help gain finances to keep her family afloat. Daniel, the hero, is an earl who is full of charm and good looks but after a misunderstanding leaves Georgianna fired and without pay. When Daniel is pushed overboard his yacht by his mistress he finds himself without memory and washed up on Georgianna's hometown shores. He does remember a sensual interaction with Georgiana which makes her claim that he is her husband. The humor that Reid weaves into this story is perfectly balanced by the building chemistry and understanding between these two creating a foundation for their romance to withstand some misunderstandings and secrets.

The true joy of this novel is watching Daniel learn and grow when he is without his title. He is able to see who people truly are with out biases. He learns to work hard, find respect for others, and open himself to people he would over look. I really enjoyed watching this family grow before Daniel's eyes. I loved watching he realize what matters most. I think that Reid beautifully shows the readers how the every day, how working together, and how learning to trust can build a strong and dedicated romance. Reid also knows how to build tension and sensuality to perfection and show that the physical intimacy between a couple is a beautiful moment of trust that only deepens their feelings.

I so highly recommend An Earl to Remember and Stacy Reid! I can't wait to see what she gifts to us next!

There were a lot of humorous moments in this book. The way the couple met and then the few things Daniel encounters while adjusting to his new life. It brought a little bit of relief in-between the secrets. I loved the way Daniel interacted with Georgianna before and after the accident. There was good banter between the two with a couple steamy scenes, but was more of a slow burn. Georgianna’s relationship with her sisters was heartwarming and I also loved how Daniel treated them. The scenes with Daniel and the younger sister had me smiling. I wanted to try all the food that Georgianna made, it all sounded delicious. I went back and forth with my feelings about Georgianna keeping the big secret from Daniel. I liked that they were able to connect and get to know each other and I am all for secrets but for some reason this one felt a little too big at times. So I really liked how the secret came out and everything that followed.

It took me a bit of time to determine how I felt about this book.

The writing was terrific and I enjoyed the flow of the story. Miss Georgianna Eleanor Heyford works as a chef/caterer to provide for her sisters, when she gets the opportunity to provide food for Daniel Rutherford, the Earl of Stannis's yacht party, she takes the position with only a slight hesitancy because of his reputation. The party goes well but after an encounter with the Earl that leads to her being fired and not paid, she is furious. Later that night Daniel goes overboard from his yacht and sustains a head injury, robbing him of his memory.

However, what bothered me was what happened after Georgianna and Daniel were reunited. Even though Daniel had done her wrong, it seems wrong that Georgianna left him go for so long without telling him what she knows about his identity, it just seems a little cruel after awhile regardless of what had happened in the past or the feelings they were developing for each other.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I usually ADORE Stacy Reid books, but this was a DNF for me. The MMC was so rude and the MFC lacked any personality.

I hadn’t read anything from Stacy Reid yet, but the blurb kinda screamed the movie ‘Overboard’ combined with Bridgerton, so of course I had to request it. And it is cute and funny!

Lord Stannis is an haughty, stick-in-the-arse, earl, who dismisses his chef, Georgy, based on the petty complaints of his mistress, without batting an eye. So, when Daniel ends up washed upon the shores, Georgianna sees this as the perfect opportunity for her to get some of the earnings back, she lost on the job. Having a man about the house to help her repair some of her ancestral home will help her survive the next winter. And since his memory will probably stay away for the next few weeks there is no harm done, right? What Georgy hadn’t taken into account, was how her younger sisters would look up to him and how he seamlessly becomes a part of her family.

Daniel has a hard time reconciling the fact that he is married and doing manual labour with the feelings he has about it. Surely, he isn’t supposed to be some commoner? But although these flashbacks don’t give him much information, he starts to understand why he married the woman. She is funny, hardworking and trying to keep her family afloat. And she kisses full of passion. Georgy doesn’t know how long she can keep up the ruse: she starts to fall for the ear; but since he is supposed to marry soon, he can’t ever be with her, since she is beneath her station. And if his memory returns, before she tells him the truth, he will hate her. How will this play out? Trust me, it will be a tale to remember. Funny, cute and sweet. Four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
