Two very dedicated people who want justice agree to team up to catch the arsonist that's burning down houses and warehouses in the area.
But Brett and Gemma create their own sparks as they are searching for justice and it might just get too hot to continue as a team. Someone is trying to kill them and Brett might just make the biggest mistake of his life. Both professionally and personally. But Gemma is determined not to let him push her out like her ex.
Read this to see them solve this case and see where their team goes.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Another great read in this wonderful series where somehow the canine always seem to steal the show This latest offering is ATF Special Agent Brett Tanner and and his arson dog Blaze's story. Brett has history with fire he lost two of his friends as a teenager to a fire he was the only survivor and he has felt guilty ever since Throw in the fact he was hurt trying to save two teens in arson fire earlier this year that he believes is the work of a serial arsonist and you can see why he is driven He finds his perfect match in insurance investigator Gemma Scott she also believes that these fires are the work of a serial arsonist. Brett wants her to work with him and she agrees but she will not trust him after all she has been burnt before when co workers have taken credit for the cases she has solved. Soon not only the fire are burning there is a deep attraction between these two but danger is circling as they get closer to the one lighting the fires.
Burning Justice is the second book in Tee O’Fallon’s K-9 Special Ops series. This book hooked me from the very beginning. Gemma is an insurance investigator who has been burned by co-workers in the past, therefore, she prefers to work alone. Brett is an ATF special agent with a personal history from past arson cases and determined to find out who set the fire which killed two teenagers. Gemma and Brett agree to work together, along with Brett’s K-9 partner, Blaze, to finally solve the mystery of multiple arson fires throughout the state of Colorado. This is another suspenseful mystery with well-developed characters. Although it can be read as a stand alone, it was fun to have some of the friends from Tough Justice appear and join forces. Another great read which I recommend wholeheartedly.
Gemma has learned the hard way to work alone and not take on a partner. Unfortunately with the recent string of arson cases it looks like she will have no choice but to work it with Brett or be left out of it all together, something she will not let happen. Brett just wants to find the serial arsonist he has been trying to catch for a while, he knows he is getting close. With Gemma's help he might finally catch him and in the process if something develops between the two of them then that is even better.
I really enjoy reading Tee O'Fallon's stories, they are always enjoyable and fun to read.
Excitement and questions with a side of drama and angst make this story sing. Loved Brett and his side kick Blaze, who together with investigator Gemma, follow the treacherous path of arson. So much happening, so little answers in this newest whodunnit. Another great read from Tee O’Fallon. Do not miss it.
I read this as an ARC from the publisher and Netgalley. I absolutely loved this novel and how fast paced it was for me to read! Tee creates a great story surrounding serious roles within law enforcement. The characters were likable and I just wanted to keep reading it! I loved the slow and light romance feel to it. I will definitely continue reading and following Tee as she is very talented! Definitely recommend to fans of crime!
When Gemma joined Brett in an arson investigation there was instant heat. But with that heat danger, remorse, and betrayal followed right behind. Blaze the cannine stole the scenes as he found items to give concrete evidence to their theories. But author Tee O'Fallon threw in a twist right at the end that was a total suprise. I found this book easy to picture events as they happened and it was difficult to put down.
I received this book as an arc and am voluntarily submitting my review.
I've read every Tee O"Fallen book and have LOVED every single one of them! This is no exception. I couldn't put it down. The chemistry, the suspense, the action and of course the DOGS. Such amazing writing and I highly recommend this and all of Tee O'Fallen's books.
Thank you Tee O' Fallen, Entangled Publishing, LLC, & Netgalley for this ARC!
I just live for Tee O'Fallon and this series now. I love the K-9 presence, it gives it that extra something special with the connection. I want to go back and read all of her back list now because after two books Im completely captured.
Brett definitely can be a big dumb dummy, but you’ll understand his motives. After all, dear makes you do dumb things. And he can’t imagine life without Gemma, even if he doesn’t want to admit it and therefore plays some emotional games he’s not truly meaning to play. And Gemma? Well, she’s stubborn but she’s got good reason to be. And she also lets the one guy in who can shatter her trust. The real question is whether or not they can move forward together once their case is solved. Or if they’re just destined to be nothing more than a quick fire and ash.
These two might think that they’re unconventional together, but they work well. Better than well, really. They get so close to both the answers of this mystery and each other in such a short amount of time that it clearly scares a few people. But when the shiny little objects fly (and luckily miss, for the most part), these two work best. Or they do until someone does the stupid thing that may be unforgivable. Luckily, good grovels are had and the case is also solved (and so is another one that’s more important to a special kid). So now I wonder about Evan. I’m sure we’ll get his story, but I’m almost afraid of where it will lead. I’ll still be here for it either way though.
Having read the first in the series, I was happy to read the 2nd. While parts of the story were somewhat predictable, there were enough twists and surprises to keep me guessing, intrigued and engrossed. I hope that the author is planning on continuing the series.
I really enjoyed this latest K-9 book by Tee O'Fallon. I read book 1 a while back and liked it. Deck and Tori from that novel play supporting roles here, but this book stands alone just fine.
Brett and Gemma, an ATF agent and an insurance crimes investigator respectively, team up to figure out the truth behind a series of house fires. They each have reasons for wanting to solve the case, and those reasons somehow create both conflict and camaraderie. They're good heroes, both strong willed and imperfect, and they're well complemented by Blaze, Brett's canine coworker. In fact, Blaze makes this very good story great.
I admittedly lack a lot of knowledge of fire and fire agencies, but the author explains well enough (without being didactic) that I'm never truly confused. Brett and Gemma work well together both professionally and personally, and they make a lot of headway until closer to the end, when Brett's backstory starts to cloud things up. Brett's issues resurrect some of Gemma's, and I'll leave it there so as to avoid spoilers.
I did wish that Gemma's backstory had a little more closure, and I do feel like the story wraps up a little too quickly, but I overall really enjoyed this book. I'm hopeful that Evan's story is next!
I received an ARC of this book for free from the publisher and Netgalley. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion. Thanks!
This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the second book in the K-9 Special Ops series. I have read the first book in this series before picking up this book, but I do think you can read this book as a standalone without any issues. This book pulled me right into the story, and it kept me wanting to keep reading. The two main characters have been through some hard things, and they are both learning to trust again. I loved seeing the two main characters learning to trust each other. This book was action packed and fast paced. The mystery/suspense in this book was really well done, and I loved seeing it unfold. Great Read. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Entangled: Amara) or author (Tee O'Fallon) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that. This book is scheduled to be released on August 22-2023.
My rating: 4-1/4 stars. I was pleasantly surprised with this novel. The story had all the elements needed for a good romance novel - romance, suspense, revenge, enough steamy bits to keep it interesting and humor to tie it all together. The characters in the book were believable …there was a great story plot …ending with a killer finish that you won’t see coming - and to top it all off, you have Blaze! I will definitely be seeking out more of Ms. O"Fallon's work in the future!
I would like to thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this novel in return for an honest and unbiased review
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing LLC for an advanced reader's copy, in exchange for my honest review.
Great characters and an interesting and complicated mystery kept my interest and I raced through the book. The fast-paced & riveting plot kept me guessing until the very end. Add in Blaze, an ATF K-9, and I was hooked! This was the 2nd book in the author's K-9 Special Ops series but is a stand-alone read. I guarantee that after you read this book, you'll be looking for more by this author.
Again, my thanks to NetGalley & the publisher for this ARC.
Great compelling read, hard to put down once started, playful story line with endearing characters, I can't wait to read the next book.
ATF agent Brett knows how fast a fire can get out of control. He was in a fire when he was younger and it still affects him today. He is investigating fires around Colorado. He and his K-9 partner Blaze are on the trail of an arsonist.
Insurance investigator Gemma works alone but must team up with Brett to solve these fires. Gemma is very independent because she was stabbed in the back by a partner several years ago.
Together Brett and Gemma race to catch the arsonist before they kill someone else. The more they work together the closer they get. Will Brett face his demons before it destroys his future?

Burning Justice is the 2nd book in the K-9 Special Ops but it stands completely on its own. Brett and Gemma are both great characters, strong-willed, determined, smart and driven. Add in stubbornness on her part and deep-seated guilt turned obsession with finding an arsonist and you have a volutile combination. There's lots of heat, danger and suspense, but also a great feeling of family and friendship. Not to forget the simply amazing K-9 Blaze! A great addition to my keeper shelf and I'm already looking forward to the next one.
This book is an intense, fast-paced, and compelling mystery. I loved Gemma and Brett. They had chemistry, both in their search for answers and their growing attraction to each other. And there’s a wonderful accelerant detection dog who stole my heart. Excellent story - I couldn’t put it down! I loved it!

Positive: This book is exactly what you are looking for when coming to a romantic suspense while being it's own unique story. Rather than the standard military, cop, or FBI story this one follows ATF agent Brett and NICB agent Gemma as the conduct an investigation on a series of possibly related arson cases., along with Brett's accelerant sniffing k-9 partner. I felt like the chemistry was good and made since between the characters and while it wasn't the most spicy book what spice we did get was solid. Pacing felt fine while reading with a good mix of action and down time so it never felt like bits dragged on.
Negatives: I don't have a lot of negatives to say about this book besides wishing there has been more interaction between the mains and Brett's friends/fellow agents as well as Gemma's family. A few times I got a little annoyed with Gemma for being so far in the column of needing to prove she can do everything her self that she is stubborn and almost gets killed BUT it wasn't a big deal since it was treated as a character flaw that is addressed in her character development as the story progresses, it just seemed a bit heavy handed at times.
Overall if you want romantic suspense that isn't your run of the mill story this is a great option and I look forward to Evans book since his story is heavily discussed in this one.
