Burning Justice was so so good. I loved the progression of the characters and our sweet K9 Blaze. When the two main characters are solving a crime together and the mystery and suspense behind it is absolutely one of my favorite tropes!! I have not read book one but i had no trouble following this even though this is book two in the series. I am invested enough to start reading more of this authors work!
Love this series. Lots of plot twists and turns. Who doesn't love a great romance, an action packed adventure and a loveable canine BFF. I didn't figure it out till the reveal. Wonderful second novel in the series.
Burning Justice is the second book in this amazing series.Brett and Gemma are wonderful characters with great chemistry. Burning Justice is full of action, suspense and danger. The suspenseful storyline flowed seamlessly and the vivid imagery makes you feel like you are there. I can't wait to read the next book.
Burning Justice, K-9, Special Ops, book two really hit the ground running from page one with an arsonist on the loose and now ATF Special Agent, Brett Tanner and Gemma Scott, NICB (National Insurance Crime Bureau)
will have to pool their resources and work together to find the person responsible for all the fires.
I really enjoyed how these two took us on their investigative journey, step by step as the pieces of the puzzle started coming together. We also got a front row seat as these two found an easy chemistry both within the investigation and in the bedroom. They seem to see one another and understand how their past has influenced and driven them to their present.
Jump on for this crazy ride and I know you will enjoy this story and characters as much as I did!
Fast-paced, Complex, Investigative Romance!!
Simply Brilliant.
From the ATF K-9 Blaze who is a real sweet talker, to a goldfish named “Jaws”. Life-saving power tools, and a complex set of events that need near-genius to unlock. Gemma is with the National Insurance Crime Bureau. She has to work three times as hard to prove her worth in a man’s world.
Brett Tanner, who owns Blaze, is haunted by two sets of teens' deaths. His best friends as a youth, and two teens in a recent arson, where he was also injured, leaving scars inside and out.
As these two work together to unravel the twisted connections, they discover a like-mindedness that helps to bring down both their walls.Emotional, Edge-of-your-seat action, and just enough comic relief to make this a stellar read.
Excellent story with suspense and intrigue intertwined with the romance and HEA. Burning Justice follows Brett, an ATF fire inspector, and Gemma, and insurance investigator, as they investigate a string of suspicious fires. Brett has survived not one but two fires where others have died. Part of the emotion of this story was watching him work through his survivors guilt and moving from a place of obsession to one of healing. Gemma has been burned (no pun intended) once before by a partner taking credit for all her hard work. She throws up wall after wall so that Brett can’t get in and do the same. Throughout the story, we get to watch as Gemma teaches Brett that it’s okay to leave the guilt behind and move on. And we see Brett try to prove to her that some men can be trusted. I don’t want to give away any spoilers but the twists at the end are great. This one will keep you guessing to the very end. And characters will do the unexpected. But it’s how they bounce back that matters. And as far as grand gestures go…this one is pretty good. Plus, who doesn’t love a good doggie storyline? Blaze is the best boi!!
Burning Justice was an action packed, romantic suspense that was a lot of fun to read. With characters that were easy to adore, a dog that will melt your heart, a storyline that will keep you guessing and some steamy scenes, I devoured this book so quickly! Fans of romance and romantic suspense definitely need to have this one on their tbr!
Gemma’s eyes gleamed with the same energy thrumming through his veins.
Because they now had a prime suspect.
Gemma Scott worked for the National Insurance Crime Bureau and ended up on the same case as Bret Tanner, an ATF special agent. While Gemma had been burned in the past while partnering on a case, working with Bret seemed inevitable. Not only did they both have the same gut feeling, but it looked like they were after an arsonist who had no problem murdering too. I loved that Gemma was brilliant, confident and how self-sufficient she was. She was a woman so many others could look up to. Yet Gemma wasn’t too happy with herself that she was attracted to Bret. Truly I couldn’t fault her, I was too lol!
His dark blue gaze met hers and held it. How she wished she could read his mind at that moment.
Bret Tanner was broody, smart, kind, and utterly sexy. He had no problem telling Gemma how much he appreciated her and what she did for their case! And while they were such a fabulous team, it hurt that Bret thought so low of himself. I didn’t understand where it came from. And once we figured it out, oh my heart, it was horrific. Bret was beyond tortured from his past and struggled with PTSD. My heart broke for him. So I was grateful that he had Blaze in his life! He was his K-9 therapy dog who was absolutely incredible! Blaze could be hilarious, heartfelt and was so easy to love! How could you not love a dog that enjoys watching Animal Planet lol?!
“Good job, partner.” When he removed his hand, the warm imprint of his long fingers on her bare skin sent a shiver of awareness through her, this one stronger than what she’d felt in Hicks’s office. Along with a surge of happiness.
Their attraction to each other couldn’t be denied. So while their first time kissing turned incredibly hot *fans face*, they needed to focus on their case. Not get emotionally involved with one another. And definitely not be kissing or more. As we alternated between Gemma and Bret, I loved watching them put the clues together. We got to witness events unfold that led to people’s stories that felt so real. And were heart wrenching to listen to. The trauma Bret and Gemma came upon in their fields could be so consuming. Yet as the clocked kept ticking by, we watched as they tried to solve the case with chases, attacks and life and death battles swirling around them!
They were being targeted, and if they didn’t get a solid lead to follow and fast, sooner or later…
The perpetrator would find his mark.
I have to say that I typically don’t read romantic suspense, but I previously gave Tough Justice a try and was hooked by Tee O’Fallon’s writing! Her characters found their way so easily into my heart and her storylines keep you turning that page until you reach the last one! I fell for another one of her books, and I loved catching up with Deck and Tori from Tough Justice! We got to see a new aspect of their relationship, and I was so over the moon happy! Burning Justice’s ending will leave readers with a smile on their face! And I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!
“Sit,” Brett said, pointing an admonishing finger at his dog. “We do not eat other people’s pets for breakfast. Understood?”
Woof.
PS I adored that Gemma had a pet that I have never read someone else having! The name was so cute!
I received an ARC of this book. Excellent suspense story. I really enjoyed this book. I couldn't stop reading until the very end. Highly recommend!

I enjoy the romantic suspense in the K-9 Special Ops series, and the dogs. The men in each book are dog handlers in different branches of law enforcement. In this case, Brett is in the ATF and is tracking some arson investigations near and dear to his own life and history. Gemma is an insurance investigator, also tracking data on some arson cases.
The canine handlers have a bond to their dogs and have all become friends, having met at some K9 events. So we see the couples from previous books, very briefly, in current books. Brett and his dog are capable but seem a bit emotional, due to his PTSD from a fire in his childhood and a similar one recently. He thinks he failed and is not good enough for any woman.
Gemma has her own hang-ups with a previous work partner taking her work and getting credit for it. Brett and Gemma do end up working together, putting their personal issues aside to save lives. They manage to put their own lives in danger because the arsonist is fine with murder. Things get exciting and they work desperately to get the evidence to finally identify the arsonist.
The heat flares up between Brett and Gemma, and with it, Brett's instinct to protect Gemma. They are both hard workers and manage to figure out everything. The dog, its training and work, are definitely woven into the story. I am always ready for more about the dogs.
I’m a huge romantic suspense junkie. (Thank you, Nora Roberts, for spawning my addiction!) Tee O’Fallon’s Federal K-9 series cemented her as one of my favorite romantic suspense authors, so I was extremely excited to dive into her K-9 Special Ops series. Mostly, I enjoyed the hero and heroine, but I had a more challenging time connecting with Gemma. Brett’s issues with relationships were more understandable than Gemma’s. Except for her trouble with a former coworker, she didn’t have much of a reason to keep her family at arm’s length and seemed a bit too wishy-washy for me much of the time. The story’s pace was a little slower than most of this author’s previous books, but there was a lot to unpack with the plot, so I wouldn’t necessarily put that in my con column. It was simply different. And as always, the end was quite explosive with a twist I didn’t see coming. All in all, while not my top favorite book from this author, Burning Justice was highly entertaining and kept me returning when I had to step away because life intruded on my reading time. Romantic suspense fans, it’s hard to be disappointed in a Tee O’Fallon book, so I wholeheartedly recommend Burning Justice as well as all of her Federal K-9 series books and any of her backlist.
NICUnurse’s Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
A strong hero, a stronger heroine and a courageous dog, out to find an arsonist. The way is not straight, the crimes more deadly than expected. Prepare for a page turner with unexpected turns. Loved it and it is a book with friendship and romance and, yes, a very special dog. An excellent read and I am looking forward to the other books in the series (K-9 Special Ops). I have I have already read Tee O'Fallon's Federal K-9 and this series promises to better.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
What a great book! The chemistry between Gemma and Brett was fantastic. I love how the author makes each dog in her books so full of personality. I fell in love with Blaze and Brett. The story was full of action and suspense. The characters felt very real to me and thought the way they both dealt with their past issues was authentic. The action was written so well, I had a very clear picture in my head as things unfolded. I am already anticipating the next book in the series! I received an advance copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
ATF agent Brett Tanner and his K9 partner Blaze team up with Gemma Scott, an insurance investigator to try and stop an arsonist threatening their Colorado town. Sparks fly in more ways than one as they continue to work together and fight their attraction.
I like how the femal mc is just as smart and strong, yet emotionally scarred as the male mc. The romance is pretty slow burn but the action and mystery are fast paced enough to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Burning Justice by Tee O’Fallon

Burning Justice is the second book in the K-9 Special Ops Series.
This is my first book from this author and I found it very enjoyable. It was an action packed and tension filled story about a K-9 ATF agent Brett Tanner with a history of surviving home fires and NICS agent Gemma Scott who has been betrayed by partners and only works alone. These two have instant chemistry. This story keeps you on your toes with an arsonist on the loose and so many twists and turns along the way leading to a big reveal of who was responsible at the end. But the end did feel slightly rushed upon the reveal. However I still enjoyed this story!
I received an ARC copy of this book and am leaving an honest review.
Brett is used to the dangers of fire. As a K9 ATF agent and two time fire survivor he knows the beauty and destructive nature of that particular element but never was he more mesmerized than when he meets Gemma, the insurance crime investigator at the site of a warehouse fire. Gemma lives in a man’s world and is used to fighting for respect. She’s hesitant to trust Brett’s work assistance due to her previous history with macho guys but the opportunity to work with him and his K9 Blaze is hard to pass up. Unfortunately they make too good of a team and someone isn’t happy about that. This is a slow build burn (pardon the pun) romance. The attraction between Brett and Gemma is practically instantaneous but both know that work comes first. It is part of a canine series by this author but you do not need to worry about missing anything if you haven’t read the previous books, although I highly recommend that you do, as the author catches you up to speed quickly. Those familiar with the other stories will be happy to hear that there are some familiar faces though. I liked the fact that both leads are strong in their own ways and both have had struggles they’ve had to overcome. While the relationship between the two may be a slow build the action and suspense never lets up right from the beginning and will keep you guessing until the end. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. 4.5 stars. I read and reviewed an arc copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
First I wanted to thank Entangled Publishing for providing an ARC in exchange for a honest review. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
After reading Tough Justice, the first in this series, I have been patiently waiting for the next and as soon as I saw it on NetGalley I put in my request cause I KNEW it was going to be good.
This is the story of Brett, ATF agent, and Gemma, insurance investigator, who meet while working a fire scene and after comparing notes believe they are dealing with an arsonist and decide to work the case together. With the help of Blaze, Brett's K-9 partner, the three go all over Colorado to track down the arsonist.
What I loved:
-Blaze, amazing name for a K-9 agent who works fire scenes and he was just the best throughout
-Gemma's family, they own a bagel shop in town and sets her up with different customers this list also includes Brett
- Gemma, she is an insurance investigator who is fixing up her house by herself, sometimes she is independent to a fault but she can do anything she sets her mind to
- Brett, sounds like an absolute smoke show, will share personal stories to protect a young person and is good with babies
- Twist, I read a lot of romantic suspense stories but this one had a twist I didn't even consider which was a pleasant surprise.
Overall this book had everything I look for in a romantic suspense, great romance, spice, great twist and believable turmoil between the main characters. On top of that there were dogs!! If you are a fan of romantic suspense stories with great characters that is he’s to put down you MUST read this book!!
A fire investigator for the ATF with past trauma teams up with a National Insurance Crime Bureau investigator to look into a spate of fires all over Colorado, one of which ended in the death of two teenagers. The investigation leads into more and more danger, but also brings the two of them closer to each other.
The star of this book is Blaze - he is a K9 arson investigator but doubles as a therapy dog and gets to shine throughout the book. I loved how he helped with the young man they found and how every time Brett really struggled Blaze was right there. Gemma's strength was obvious from the beginning and her growth to allow help was excellent. And the end scene grovelling was pefection! If you enjoy romantic suspense with law enforcement characters, this is an excellent book. I also love when book series have interconnected friends, so now I want to go back and read the first in the series.
Burning Justice offers exceptional characterization, gripping action, intense suspense, undeniable attraction, thrilling arson, and imminent danger. This captivating narrative is infused with excitement, thought-provoking questions, and a touch of dramatic angst, resulting in a truly mesmerizing tale. I can't wait to read more in this series.
4.25⭐
Tee O Fallon returns with another enjoyable addition to the K9 Special Ops Series. This time featuring ATF Agent Brett Tanner and his adorable K9 companion Blaze. Who are on the trail of an arsonist and now murderer who seems to be targeting run down properties throughout a Colorado town.
But if Brett is to have any chance of finding the person, person's responsible he needs to gain the trust of NCIB investigator Grace. Who during her own investigation has started to see a pattern in the fires set and has vital Intel that Brett desperately needs.
And Brett has more reason than most to want to stop them after being injured in a fire that claimed two of his childhood friends. He knows the damage fire and those who set them cause.
But the more Brett pulls Grace into his investigation the higher the stakes become and she soon becomes a target.
However, Bretts friends and their canine companions are on hand to help keep her safe and hunt down the culprit.
And with danger, secrets, sweetness, mystery, and suspense. Not to mention a slow burn romance. This was a truly engaging read. That was only really let down by the ending, which I felt was a little abrupt.
TEE O'Fallon gives us another must read page turner from the very first page until the last we are given a hang onto your seat suspenseful story with plenty of action twists and turns and unexpected surprise's the bad guys is a very well kept secret right up to the end of the book along with a hot romance great friends and a really great dog.
