Thank you NetGalley, Tee O'Fallon and Entangled Publishing, LLC for the copy of Burning Justice. This is my personal review.
This starts out with ATF Special Agent Brett Tanner knowing what a fire feels like and how it can change a person’s life forever.
The chemistry between Brett and Gemma Scott, a Crime Bureau Investigator jumped off the page as I was reading. The author did a great job of combining the aspect of fire investigation and two strong people doing their jobs. The suspense in the story had my heart pounding a few times and then tossed in the sizzle of romance and this was a book I really enjoyed. I can say that once you start reading this book you will be so glad you picked it up to read.

Brett is in the ATF K-9 unit and he is trying to find the person who started a house fire a year ago that left him with burn scars when he failed to rescue the two teenagers trapped in the burning house. Gemma is an investigator with the NICB and she is investigating a series a fires involving unoccupied houses. She was previously duped by a coworker who stole her work on a case and is reluctant to approach Brett for help, but they both need access to information that the other one has access to. They try to ignore the attraction between them as they both know it would not end well and learn that they work well together.

Burning Justice is the latest in the K-9 Special Ops series by Tee O’Fallon. This story is about an ATF agent and an insurance investigator partnering up to catch an arsonist and killer. They quickly uncover new leads, which puts them in the killer’s crosshairs. Will they be able to catch the killer before it is too late? Read Burning Justice to find out.
I loved everything about this book including the great storyline and the unforgettable characters. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who is looking for a great romantic suspense story with a very strong, independent, and intelligent female protagonist.

Burning Justice is a story of overcoming tragedy, learning to trust and to work as a team as well as a romance. K-9 Special Ops book two by Tee O'Fallon as all the feels of a great story as well as a marvelous storyline. Gemma Scott and Brett Tanner are likable, conscientious, intelligent arson investigators. They may work for different agencies, but they want the same outcome, to stop arsonists and to stop people from dying in the fires arsonists set.

The chemistry between Brett and Gemma is strong enough that the open bedroom door scenes were not actually needed to believe these two belong together. I would have enjoyed an epilogue to see them in a later date but perhaps they will make an appearance in the next book. K-9 Blaze, Brett’s partner is a scene stealer, every community needs a Blaze.

Each story is a stand-alone but the characters from the previous book make a supporting role appearance. This story has more than one villain. While a couple are easy to guess, there are twists that make the ringleader hard to guess. I had it narrowed down to two different ones so at least I was in the ballpark with who it was. Diligent investigator work is showcased with only a off the rails conclusion but still there is much about how the legwork is done to solve these crimes.

For a compelling romantic suspenseful read, you can’t go wrong with a Tee O'Fallon book. I recommend Burning Justice to any and all.

Brett used his own experience with fire to fuel his career with ATF. He's used to working pretty much on his own except for his dog, Blaze.

Gemma works with NICB and like Brett she's a lone wolf. After a colleague used their relationship to usurp her investigation, she's vowed no more relationships with people she works with. But her latest investigation intersects with Brett's. To further muddy the waters, Brett also has her family's mark of approval.

The arsonist is escalating and getting bolder.

Brett is independent, smart, capable and just about the perfect partner. Gemma is independent, intelligent, stubborn, and a brilliant analytical & organizational mind. But trust does not come easy to Gemma. Blaze is an awesome K9 partner - he's brave, protective but a sweet and empathetic nature.

The romance is slow-burn in counterpoint to the fast moving investigation. There are some real life issues interspersed with the story and they are deal with in a subtle and heart-warming away. These include: childhood trauma, mental health, misogyny and survivor guilt. The banter between Brett and his buddies is funny and true to life for LEO.

This book was suspense-filled, mysterious, action-packed, romantic and had a little mix of humor. I love puzzles, and this plot line was a puzzle filled. Tee O'Fallon gave you bits of clues every so often, which was just enough to keep you turning the pages. The action was spot on as well.

Brett Tanner is an ATF Special Agent who has some experience with fire. He survived a childhood fire which gave him a need to be the man he is today. The latest warehouse fire is not only a dangerous fire which has destroyed property, but there is a dead body in the warehouse. This, of course, means the arsonist has graduated from burning buildings to taking a life. This is where Brett meets Gemma Scott. Gemma is an insurance investigator. She is tough as nails and smart as a whip. She has had to claw her way to the top in a male dominated profession, so this lady is no wilting flower. She butts her way into this investigation and insists on a being included in the ATF investigation. There is an immediate attraction between Brett and Gemma, but they are also professionals and have a vested interest in solving this case.

When I imagined Brett Tanner in my mind, I could definitely see eye candy with a badge and a brain. He was a protector and hunky to boot, which was a wonderful combination. He also has a heart of gold as you will learn when you read the book. He cares about the underdogs and the forgotten ones, which made him even more attractive. Gemma was a highly intelligent lady who knew her stuff. She just needed someone to believe in her.

If you enjoy a romantic suspense novel with a little heat, you will enjoy this one. The romance is there, but the mystery is the main plot line.

Thank you to Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

It was an absolute pleasure to read this book. I was provided with an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving this review. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I began reading it, but was immediately drawn in. And as the story kept unfolding, the more I had to know what happened next. An excellent cast of characters. Gemma and Brett are fabulous. He, an ATF agent, and she an insurance fraud investigator. An unlikely pairing. And blaze is just the best. If you want a romance, a mystery, some action and suspense rolled into one, this book has it all. The book has you at the edge of your seat from start to finish wanting to get to the next page quickly to see what’s coming next.

Brilliant:
I really enjoyed this book. I was drawn into the story from the very beginning and was curious to see how it would all play out. The investigation progressed at a good pace with just the right amount of information and action to keep things interesting. Whilst part of a series, it can definitely be enjoyed as a standalone.
Both Brett and Gemma had some personal issues to work through and I enjoyed watching them move from work partners to forever partners. Of course Brett's K-9 partner stole the show and I thought it was hilarious how he liked to watch TV as my puppy is the same!

I'll admit up front that my feelings about this latest novel in Tee O'Fallon's K-9 Special Ops series simply didn't grab me, as some of her other novels did. As always, I loved her K-9 character, but I had an easier time growing to like her ATF agent, Brett, who had serious survivor guilt and PTSD, which made him a hero whose trauma was easy to sympathize with, but from the outset, I had a hard time understanding the female lead, Gemma, an insurance fraud claims investigator. who we eventually learn has a wonderful and supportive family, but who doesn't seem to trust anyone but herself--it didn't help that she didn't trust anyone. Yes, she was betrayed in the past by a former co-worker who stole her work and presented it as his own, but many people, myself included, have had strikingly similar betrayals in their lives and managed to get past it and move on, but it was long past time for Gemmar to get over it.

We do learn far more about Brett's backstory, physical and emotional issues, survivor guilt and trauma than we ever learn about Gemma's. I simply couldn't believe that one job betrayal years earlier would affect the rest of her life, her career, and any future relationships so negatively. While I do understand that women working in a male-dominated field have to work harder to be accepted, appreciated, and taken seriously, the quality of her work after that betrayal was exemplary, as Brett almost immediately notices about Gemma's work ethic, but which appears to have been totally overlooked by her employers.

Additionally, I felt that Brett and Gemma's overly detailed investigation into all 23 suspicious arson cases moved at a snail's pace, as did their on again, off again attraction to one another. Both characters are described as intelligent, attractive adults, who are deeply dedicated to their jobs, but when it came to their slow building romance the waffling of their emotions made both characters seem like they were both too emotionally insecure to be adults.

What I did like best about this novel was it's finale--it was something I certainly didn't expect, and considering the slow pace of the rest of this novel, the action-packed, edge-of-your-seat ending and the identity of the evildoer came as a very welcome surprise, as did the HEA ending between Brett and Gemma.

All in all, this wasn't a bad romantic suspense novel, and it was well-written, but the slow pacing and emotionally wrought lead characters simply didn't measure up to the sympathetic characters and exciting plots I've come to expect from reading Ms. O'Fallon's earlier novels. As romantic suspense goes, there wasn't quite enough romance for this reader.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions stated are my own.

I love stories that pull you in from the beginning and don't let you go. Brett and Gemma are two complicated characters who work so well together for this story. Brett is haunted by a couple of fires from his past and Gemma is determined to work her cases alone since she was burned in the past by a coworker. However, it becomes clear early on that both of them will benefit from working together - Gemma has insights on some fires that may help connect the cases and Brett has access to being able to subpoena information.

While neither of them is sure they will be able to find the proof that the cases are related, they keep following every possible lead. And as they spend more time together, they find there is a level of attraction that grows between them. But when things become very dangerous, Brett makes a decision that may cost him any chance at a relationship with Gemma.

This is a well-written law enforcement/insurance investigative procedural filled with suspense, romance, and twists.

A thrilling mystery and suspense that kept me turning the pages until the very exciting end! ATF Special Agent Brett Tanner is still dealing with a tragedy from his past that took the lives of his two friends. Now he, along with his K-9 Blaze, is investigating a suspicious house fire that killed two kids. He believes that the fire was deliberately set. When he meets Gemma Scott who is with the National Insurance Crime Bureau, her investigation seems to connect with his…can they work together? Gemma has been burned before by a coworker who took credit for her work, but she admires his determination to finding those responsible for the deaths and his assistance to a troubled young man. He applauds Gemma’s dedication to meticulously piece together information pertaining to the homes that they believe have been destroyed for profit. The attraction between them flares out of control as they barely survive several threats. It is obvious that someone will kill rather than give up their profitable business. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

After what happened on a previous case, Insurance Investigator Gemma Scott doesn't trust easily personally or professionally. Gemma Scott and AFT Special Agent Brett Tanner will have to work together to determine who is setting fires across Colorado. I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher through Netgalley. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. I like how they had to work together gathering evidence. Gemma is very professional and puts many of the clues together. While Brett respected and grew to care about Gemma, I didn't like some of his actions in solving the mystery, but this probably made the story more realistic. Brett is very good at helping a young offender. Overall, the story was good and suspenseful.

First thought: Wow! This book took me for a wild ride and it did not disappoint one bit. One of the best action packed crime solving romances I have ever read.

Gemma works for the
and after yet another structure fire seeking insurance claims thinks she’s on to a pattern of insurance fraud. She’s at the point where she needs help from federal agents to turn her theory into an investigation. Only issue is she doesn’t trust anyone after she was betrayed by the last one she had.

Brett works for the and he has a dark and complicated past. He daily fights his own demons and the only thing that keeps him going is his determination to right the past. He has one focus and that’s to mail the arsonist that killed a group of teens in a house firer and he will investigate every fire with the help of his partner Blaze till he find the suspect.

Gemma shows up at the most current structure fire and crosses paths with Brett. He instantly respects her and her knowledge, she knows she needs to team up with someone and he’s her best bet if she wants to make her theory into more. They team up and go down a wild breadcrumb trail as they work to solve this case. Their lives and jobs are on the line and throw in a connection they both can’t deny. Will these two cross the line and blur business with pleasure and will it cost them the case, their jobs or their lives.

This is a must read book! It is dual POV and a major page turner.

Tropes you’ll find:
* Slow Burn
* Crime Solving
* Forced Proximity
* Dark Pasts

This book is intense! Dealing with arson, murder, ptsd, survivor’s guilt, trust issues, it has it all. The developing romance between Brett and Gemma was so good, but it never overpowered the suspense. I loved the balance between the two. It started a bit slower but the case and the story pulled me in quick and it got difficult to put it down!

*I voluntarily read an advance review copy of this book*

Arson, mystery, financial crimes, romance - this book has it all and more!

This is the second book in the K-9 special ops series, both books are great. Fast read, lots of action, hot romance and solid, professional characters make for an enjoyable book. I appreciate that the books are set in Denver, my recently adopted area, and one of the locations, Great Scott's bagel store, is in reality Great Scott's Eatery and I've eaten there!

Learning about how arson dogs are trained, and how few of them there are was very interesting. Blaze is a great dog and partner to Brett, ATF investigator. Gemma, an insurance board investigator has been burned by partners in the past, so when she and Brett team up to catch the person who has set 23 fires across Colorado, she is wary. Soon their physical attraction wins out, and they can't ignore the feelings they have for each other. But will the arsonist ends their chance at happiness?

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

Thrilling mystery; lots of action; lots of tension; little humor; perfect ending
What a superior writer! I enjoyed the last series and I am loving this new one. Love the K-9 sweetheart Blaze with suggestive tension between the main characters: ATF Special Agent Brett Tanner and National Insurance Crime Bureau Investigator Gemma Scott. Because they fight their attraction so much, when things really start happening between them, watch out! You may get burned from the heat. Both were hurt in very different ways, the pain for which they carry like a very big chip on their shoulders. Together however, they are invincible even though Gemma is more accustomed to working alone. She has reasons. You will fall in love with Brett’s K-9 Blaze. Such a good boy. The mystery is multi-faceted and deadly.
Told in dual points of view, this book will keep you reading; then when Brett and Gemma get close to solving the mystery, I promise, you will be on the edge of your seat. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Entangled and NetGalley.

Burning Justice by Tee O'Fallon @teeofallonauthor

Rating - 5/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Date Read - August 10, 2023

*I received an E-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review* - Thank you @teeofallonauthor and @netgalley!

I had high hopes for this book and it blew all my expectations out of the water! My favourite genre right now is romantic suspense and Burning Justice is a great combination of both romance and suspense. I love that the romance doesn't overpower the suspense!

I have to admit, I was a little nervous about the dog being an ATF K-9 because I can't stand when animals get hurt. Don't let that stop you from reading this book because I can confirm, the dog is okay!

When reading about the author at the end of the book, I realized that she was a federal agent for over 20 years (!), which made me love it even more. The technical parts were explained in pretty easy to understand language, which helped make me feel like I was part of the investigation team rather than being on the outside looking in.

I highly recommend this book and would love to read more from this author!

Tee O’Fallon has combined great characterization, action, suspense, attraction, arson, and danger in the second book in the K-9 Special Ops series: Burning Justice . This romantic suspense novel features Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Special Agent Brett Tanner and National Insurance Crime Bureau Investigator Gemma Scott. Brett narrowly survived a childhood fire that killed two of his friends. That trauma as well as another one that occurred a year ago motivates him to work with his K-9 partner Blaze to track down arsonists. The latest warehouse fire looks suspicious and a body has been found. After a coworker took credit for Genna’s work during her first year as an investigator, she works alone. The setting is largely in and around Colorado Springs, Colorado.

However, they’re in a race against an arsonist and neither wants another body found at a suspicious fire. They decide to work as a team. Her investigation has reached the point of needing law enforcement resources she doesn’t have and he needs information her firm’s database has. In addition to their investigations, the attraction between Brett and Gemma and a separate mystery keep the story advancing rapidly.

The characterization of Brett and Gemma has depth. Brett is competent, smart, and chivalrous. He’s kind and compassionate and volunteers at the hospital with Blaze as a therapy dog. However, he has night terrors and a tendency to ruin relationships. Gemma is fiercely independent, intelligent, perceptive, and has great investigative, organizational, and interviewing skills. However, she also has trouble trusting others. They are both determined to solve the arson cases. I loved their chemistry and enjoyed the slow burn romance.

The author weaves suspense, danger, action, and intense moments throughout the plot. Additionally, the approaches to an investigation by the main characters as well as their thought processes kept me engaged and rapidly turning the pages. The novel builds suspense in a way that pulls readers into the lives of the characters. The plot is full of chasing down leads and interviewing people as well as plenty of danger for those involved. There are several twists and turns and a surprise near the end of the novel.

Real-world issues are incorporated into the story that add depth to the narrative. This includes mental health issues, greed, murder, guilt, and a woman working in an industry that is comprised of 90 percent men. A little humor is interspersed throughout the book to lighten the darkness. There are a couple of steamy scenes in the second half of the novel.

Overall, this briskly paced novel was engaging and atmospheric with great characterization. I can’t wait to find out who will be featured in the next book. I recommend this to those that like romantic suspense novels with relatable and likeable main characters. This can be read as a standalone novel.

Entangled Publishing, LLC, Entangled: Amara and Tee O’Fallon provided a complimentary digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. This is an entertaining, well-written, fast paced, steamy, romantic suspense novel. It has an engaging, intelligent female protagonist, a strong, and capable, wounded male protagonist, a heroic K-9, sizzling chemistry, supportive family and friends, a touch of humor, intrigue, twists and turns, and a happily ever after ending. This is the second entry in Ms. O'Fallon's outstanding K-9 Special Ops series, and can be read and enjoyed as a stand alone. I am looking forward to reading the next entry in this series, which I hope will be Evan's story, with great anticipation. Many thanks to Entangled Publishing, Ms. Tee O'Fallon, and NetGalley, from whom I received an ARC of this fantastic novel.
