Thank you to Entangled for the complimentary book. These opinions are my own.
This is the second in the K-9 Special Ops series. It features Brett Tanner, who we met in the first book, and his amazing dog, Blaze. As an ATF agent, he is searching for an arsonist who ended up killing two people in a house fire. So he pairs up with Gemma Scott, an insurance investigator who has noted a much larger criminal pattern. Together, they both get access to more different databases.
I really liked the romantic suspense and especially a dog who loves watching Animal Planet. There's just the right amount of danger, and I was only a little bit ahead of the main characters in guessing who did it.
I really liked Brett's character from the previous book. He had a complicated and nuanced back story that gave him a lot of depth. But that backstory doesn't fully excuse some of the really poor choices he made. As a result, it felt like the book wrapped up too quickly. I needed to see more growth from him to make the romance believable. So I liked the beginning of the book more than the ending.

(4.5) Every woman will have the feels for ATF Agent Brett Tanner. From hurting for the tragedy in his past, the guilt hes carrying to wanting to smack him upside the head and say "who are you to decide". Gemma Scott, independent fire insurance investigator is a little tornado. Together watching them trying to find the perps was a solid story that also touched on our youth, fire starters and what are they searching for. As plot unfolded we were engulfed in the mystery and suspense. Having Decker and Evan being in the story was a nice addition. Knowing that PTSD and can and does destroy lives I like that there was no quick fix. Once he made the decision to seek help I wish he had spoken with Gemma at that point, but that's just my preference. Thank you for the arc! I voluntarily share my thoughts and opinions. #BurningJustice #K9SpecialOps #TeeO'Fallon #Entangled: Amara #NetGalley
Brett and Gemma were on fire as a team and as a couple. They had to get over some major baggage to get their HEA though! Blaze was an absolute hero K-9! Life got in the way, otherwise this would have been read in one sitting. So good!
Burning Justice brings murder and mayhem, lies and secrets, whodunnit(s) and a chemistry that burns hawt for Brett and Gemma while they both try to keep their distance. Grab this winding and twisting suspenseful romance and enjoy the heat!!!
ATF Agent Brett Tanner and his k-9 partner Blaze work 9n arson cases and currently they’re working on not one but two arsonist. Things are coincidental.
Then along comes insurance investigator Gemma Scott who is also working these cases and has inserted herself beside Brett.
The trail they follow leads to more questions as well as their growing attraction to each other. Hold on while you read this , it’s good.
Yes, I really enjoyed this one, the story , the characters and Blaze. Go read it.
Thank you #NetGalley #BurningJustice #Romance fir this ARC
A fast paced emotional suspense story. Federal agent Brett and his canine companion Blazen’s goal is to find the arsonist behind a fire that killed two teenager. When insurance investigator Gemma approach him with her findings, can they work together putting aside their attraction and the scars from their past threatening to burn them? Great story.
ATF special agent Brett Tanner and his K9 partner are looking for a dangerous arsonist. Our hero cannot let anyone else die if he can stop it.
Gemma Scott works hard to prove she can do anything alone. That includes her work as an insurance investigator. She knows there is a serial arsonist at work. Nobody will stand in the way of her finding him.
This is a steamy, action packed romantic suspense. It is filled with excitement, danger, mystery and great characters. Our four legged one is a true hero. There is a lot our characters need to learn about each other and themselves along the way.
This is part of a series, but each book can easily read on it's own. The connection for the series is the friendship of the various K9 handlers. I am definitely looking forward to reading the next one.
I loved it.
Another great read from Tee O Fallon. An interesting story between Brett, who is an ATF agent that has been investigating a string of arson fires. He teams up with Gemma, an investigator with NICB. It's more of a slow burn type romance and I felt the ending was so so. I did feel sorry for Brett and all he went through. He certainly had PTSD and survivors guilt. I also had a hard time understanding Gemma and why she wouldn't call her family for help. Overall, it was a nice, enjoyable read. I received an ARC copy.
Burning Justice (K-9 Special Ops #2)
Tee O’Fallon
Once again, the writing of Tee O’Fallon does not disappoint. She has written a fast-paced, tension infused, very descriptive second book in the series, K-9 Special Ops. Her descriptions made me feel like I was there and I could easily visualize the scenes in my mind’s eye.
The storyline deals with a NICS agent, Gemma Scott, who was burned by her previous partner, who stole another case from her. She now prefers to work alone. ATF Special Agent Brett Tanner, suffers from survivor’s guilt, having survived two fires which killed four people. He works with his K-9 partner, Blaze, a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. Brett and Gemma both feel that they have to be at the top of their game and prove their worth to their coworkers. Deck, Evan and Tori, from “Tough Justice”, are also in the book and I hope Evan’s story is next.
Tension grows between Brett and Gemma as they race to find the arsonist and murderer. Finally sparks fly between them as they discover they are so in sync with each other, until Brett does the one thing that pushes Gemma away - he betrays her trust. Or does he? Will their trust issue and guilt issue allow them to move ahead once they solve this case? I have to admit that I was totally surprised when the arsonist was revealed!
I was gobsmacked as to the number of professionals that Tee O’Fallon consulted with during the writing of this book. While I enjoyed the book immensely I wish that I knew more about Gemma and that the ending wasn’t quite as rushed as it seemed.
I received “Burning Justice” as an ARC and I would recommend this book.
This book is high on the suspense side, and high on the spicy tension side! Gemma and Brett both investigate fires, one as an insurance investigator the other as an ATF agent. They both are at the same fire when they meet each other, and shortly after decide to partner up to solve these cases. Their tentative partnership turns into something much more than either one of them are ready to admit to. Their chemistry is off the charts, but their working partnership was just as amazing. Brett admires Gemma’s intelligence and ability to connect with people. He doesn’t overlook her capabilities in the field, and that means more to Gemma than he knows. Gemma begins to believe that Brett is someone she can rely on and believe in to support her. Their personal relationship has major bumps, which means their working relationship does too. Gemma needs to learn to ask for help, and Brett needs to let go of his obsession of this case. This book was so well written, and the plot and storyline were fantastic. Definitely a great romantic suspense book!
Brett and Gemma. Both determined, strong willed, and caring agents. They come together to solve some fires and find an unexpected attraction to each other as well as a bigger case than expected. Blaze is a wonderful K-9 and I love his role and contribution to the story, cases, and people! The story moves quickly and is well developed showing family, friends, their jobs, and their chemistry with vivid descriptions and feelings. A good blend of serious moments, action moments, romantic moments, and cute moments. The scenes with Gemma’s family all had me smiling or chuckling. Love the story and can’t wait to read more!
Brett and Gemma are a force of their own. They are determined to solve the case of so many fires lately. Working together can be though, but with a person like Gemma, Brett knows he is in for a rough time. Not because she is terrible at her job or a horrible person but because she’s someone he could end up caring about. They start to find some leads and they end up with more questions. It seems like they are missing something but they don’t know what. Will they be able to solve the cases before someone else is hurt?
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy through Net Galley of Burning Justice . I absolutely loved this story . It's the second story in the K9 Ops Series . ATF Special Agent Brett Tanner and his K9 partner arrive at a suspicious warehouse fire . Where he meets Insurance investigator Gemma Scott . The two decide to work together when they realize their cases crossover . They will have to trust each other if they're going to catch the serial arsonist . As they work together their attraction grows so does the danger . This story is outstanding . I absolutely loved reading it . I was on the edge of my seat . It's suspenseful and intriguing and definitely intense . I highly recommend taking the time to read .
I have not yet read the first book in this series but I do not feel I had any issues following along with the storyline or characters. This was a fast-paced read with dedicated flawed characters, suspense, action, danger, mystery, romance, and an endearing canine that steals the show.
I enjoyed seeing the characters build their relationship and trust along the way while working together. The action was gripping, the romance was a slow burn, and the suspense and mystery were well drawn out and engaging. I also enjoyed the interactions between all the characters and the way everything was wrapped up in the end. It was an exciting read with a compelling storyline and I look forward to reading more fun stories in the series.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
Burning Justice is the story of Brett and Gemma, two people who team up to bring down an arsonist on the loose, along with Brett's K-9 Blaze. Much like the previous book in the series, this had me on the edge of my seat, gripped and totally invested in the story and the main characters. I loved the chemistry between Brett and Gemma and the twist at the end came completely out of the blue for me and definitely packed a punch. Another fantastic book from the incredible Tee O'Fallon.
I was lucky enough to receive and ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Anyone who has previously read a Tee O’Fallon book will have come to expect her trademark addicting, fast paced, page-turning tales, and Burning Justice is no different. I got pulled into the story from the very beginning and just couldn’t put it down. Seriously, I read it in one sitting!
Finding out Brett’s background makes you want to hug him, and of course, his canine companion brings extra interest, depth, and wonderful moments of humor. Brett is a fierce and protective guy, willing to do whatever it takes to solve the case - even if it means doing the one thing that will cost him the girl he’s falling for.
Gemma is a fun, spunky, take no crap from anyone heroine, and is the perfect match for Brett in every way. Watching how their relationship develops is fun and will have readers rooting for them to figure things out.
The case is gripping, fascinating, and convoluted, keep you glued to the pages and dying to find out what happens next.
Seeing characters from the previous book in the series (Tough Justice) is a wonderful treat, too!
Burning Justice is another 5 star read to add to Ms. O’Fallon’s list, one you definitely won’t regret buying! A truly fabulous addition to her K-9 Special Ops series.
3.5 stars.
Two strong-willed agents, both with a surprisingly soft core, feature in “Burning Justice”, by Tee O’Fallon (Entangled: Amara), along with a bunch of compelling side characters and a sweet yet fiercely devoted K-9 dog.
The sexy hero, Brett, is a tortured soul trying to atone for his supposed sins by being the best ATF agent. Brett feels broken and unworthy and his sense of survivor’s guilt is deeply rooted in his psyche.
Brett and Gemma are both driven professionals and passionate about their jobs. I liked watching them work together and how Brett manages to be the perfect gentleman and also respect and cooperate with his colleague (even if he makes some dumb and questionable decisions sometimes).
I really liked how the author wrote about the attraction and chemistry between Brett and Gemma, how it’s so immediate, permanent and reveals itself in so many palpable ways.
The fact Brett’s trauma and psychological scars haven’t a miraculous cure is also realistic. The path for redemption is tortuous.
There’s a healing process for Gemma’s trust issues, too, although they’re more benign.
I appreciated the realism and knowledge of the investigation and criminal procedures, although sometimes I felt they were a bit over described.
The relationship between Brett and Blaze is awesome, with so much competence and some adorable, sweet moments between the two partners.
The side characters are interesting, too, particularly Brett’s friends.
Wow! This is another great addition to the K-9 Special Ops series by Tee O’Fallon! This story brought ATF Special Agent Brett Tanner and NICB Investigator Gemma Scott together to investigate a series of arson cases. Blaze, a Chesapeake Bay Retriever ATF K-9, definitely stole the show. It was a very well developed mystery, and a slow-burn romance. There were plot twists that I did not see coming, and the book kept me on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend this book and the entire series!
This was my first book from this author and I loved, loved, loved it! Just the right amount of romance and swooning combined with suspense and mystery to make it a binge read. I finished the book in one sitting and though it wasn’t a short read, the anticipation kept the pages turning. Brett was such a cinnamon roll hero and I’d read any book that has a man with a dog but Blaze has a special place in my heart. Gemma’s struggles as a woman in a man oriented job was so relatable as was her family who constantly tried to set her up with different men. Both leads had well developed back stories which were handled with optimal grace. I’m definitely going back to read book one in this series and look forward to Evan’s story.
I love Tee O’Fallon’s K9 adventures and this Special Ops series is fast becoming one of my favourites. ATF (The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) Special Agent Brett Tanner is fighting his own demons while searching for an arsonist who’s been eluding him for over a year. When he joins forces with Gemma Scott from the NICB (National Insurance Crime Bureau), he discovers that there are way too many coincidences with the cases that he is currently investigating and the ones that Gemma has on her radar. Lives are at risk and loyalties are tested as Brett and Gemma partner up in this rollercoaster ride of suspense, action and romance. Wonderful writing, great characters, and a dog that steals the show. I loved it. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.
