This is such a great series! The main characters are strong and both have gone through a lot. Brett is an ATF special agent and Gemma is an insurance investigator. Brett is okay working with Gemma bevause she is privy to information useful to him. Gemma is not too sure about working with Brett. They are two very likeable characters and the story has plenty of action.

A Hunk a hunk a burning love!

Welcome to book 2 in the K-9 Special Ops series by Tee O’Fallon where sparks will fly, love blazes as insurance investigator Gemma Scott and ATF special agent Brett Tanner team up to uncover and hunt down arsonists with an agenda.

If you like a good romantic suspense with smart sassy heroines and hot special ops men who are little broken, protective but respect and admire the leading lady, with a sizzling chemistry between them and a happy ending, then this is a book for you!

Thanks, NetGalley for the ARC.

I have mixed feelings about this book.

On one hand I really liked the storyline and build up, I liked how both characters had strength but actually it was Brett with the more complex background. I liked the storyline and it certainly was a journey to get to the end point with lots of great side characters being introduced

I liked the romance element and how the intrigue slowly built.

My main issue was that I felt whilst Brett got lots of backstory, Gemma’s was only fleeting. I never felt like there was sufficient detail given to explain WHY she was so independent to the point she didn’t even ask her family for help.

I also though that in the end Brett did to her exactly what she had been afraid of and there was no point I felt he really explained why or gave enough for her to forgive him so it did end a little frustratingly for me

Great story! But that ending was mehhh! 4.5 STARS

I have to say I love O’Fallons methodology when she’s creating these law enforcement, romantic suspense stories. Her characters are always super unique and the guys definitely fall into the hot cop category.

She creates memorable themes, plus her descriptions and pacing just ramp you up the further you get into the story.

O’Fallon takes the slow burn method when it comes to her romantic side, which could cause a love-hate situation right there.

The female leads are always powerful capable women who support their man. And like the other books in this series, we have to have the amazing pup who is also a K-9 officer, and what a great character this guy is. So Cute!

O’Fallon had me all in with this book and I hated putting it down even to sleep. The only thing that really bugged me was the ending. It was abrupt and it would have been so much more satisfying if she would’ve included one more chapter to let us see the characters after the happily ever after and all.

Whenever I see a book by O’Fallon, however, I always tend to get to grab them. I know she writes wonderful stories that are well-developed and loaded with highly descriptive scenes and activities that build that suspense. And let’s not forget the steamy connections between the main characters.

O’Fallon always delivers a memorable and exciting story full of chemistry and fire!

Brett was a pretty swoon-worthy hero, especially when you add in the love he so clearly had for his K-9 partner Blaze. But Brett wasn't always making the best decisions in this story. Even if he did have reasons of his own as to why he was doing what he was doing.

As for Gemma, she was quite a stubborn character and her persistence is part of what made her so great at her job as an insurance investigator. But having her share of betrayals in her past also has her not willing to easily trust anyone again.

From the moment these two met on the page, it was definitely steamy. Their banter and the chemistry between them as well as their attempts to push their feelings aside and resist them so they could solve these fires and catch this arsonist kept me glued to the pages. There was the perfect amount of suspense, romance, action, and intrigue within this book. While they can be read as standalone books, this one has left me anxiously awaiting the next book in this series along with going back and reading the first one again! I strongly recommend this book!

This very talented author delivers another wonderful suspense romance that will keep the reader on the edge of their seats from the first page to the last.
ATF Special Agent Brett Tanner’s past has molded the man he is today. A past that keeps him looking for arsonists . He’s lived through two life threatening and life changing experiences involving fires. In each, victims didn’t survive, making his survival guilt his cross to bear.
Whom he never expected to approach him about the fires is feisty, determined , strong and beautiful insurance investigator, Gemma Scott. A woman that has been burned before by a co-worker, but even though she would have preferred to work alone, believes teaming up with Brett could break the case. But will she be able to trust him not only with work, but also with her heart?
What happens when the work drives Brett to go behind Gemma’s back? Will the two of them survive to tell the tale? If they do, will the trust be mended?
The story is engaging, the characters perfect in their imperfections and Blaze, the K-9, was the perfect addition to the story.
Another wonderful story in the series and this reader is hoping Evan will get his story next.

Great characters and an interesting and complicated mystery kept my interest and I raced through the book. The fast-paced & riveting plot kept me guessing until the very end. Add in Blaze, an ATF K-9, and I was hooked! This was the 2nd book in the author's K-9 Special Ops series but is a stand-alone read. I guarantee that after you read this book, you'll be looking for more by this author.

Love all of Tee O'Fallon's Books
As Gemma and Brett try to find a serial arsonist they are also dealing with feelings neither one feel they can deal with. With the attraction growing stronger and the search finally making headway can they overcome their feeling of not being worthy of each other.

This was a romantic suspense that had me guessing the whole way through. Good touches of love and heartbreak. The two main characters are paired up to investigate multiple arson claims.
I love this author and will continue to read her books.

100% did not want to put this down. I got so enthralled in the story that I forget the world around me. Tee has an amazing series going. I am so excited for the coming books. I won't spoil the plot for you. Just know that Blaze is my kind of hero.

Incendiary romance!

Brett and Gemma are both arson investigators - he works for ATF, while she works for NICB. After meeting at a suspicious warehouse fire, Gemma convinces him that there's a larger conspiracy and she needs his - or rather, the ATF's - help to get to the bottom of it. Their partnership is both personally and professionally combustible, and they have to balance their attraction to each other with the unexpected threats they encounter as a result of their investigation.

I really loved the chemistry between Brett and Gemma. Even though they each are committed to working alone, their friendship quickly goes from, "I can't do a relationship" to "I can't live without you." And it's not just the pitfalls of a romantic relationship that threaten them. I appreciated that the story delved into Brett's past experiences and showed how those directed his current efforts. Gemma's family was a delight, and I loved the way the family's deli was worked into the story.

This author does an outstanding job of writing federal agents with K9 partners, and this book's darling is Blaze, a Chesapeake Bay Retriever who specializes in sniffing out accelerants. I guarantee you'll fall in love with this TV-watching cuddlebug. Brett also has the assistance of his friends, Deck and Evan, along with Deck's fiance, Tori. Set a few months after the events of the first book, I really enjoyed getting an update on Tori and Deck as well as getting to know Evan a little bit more.

The author clearly has done a tremendous amount of research in putting this story together, and I was instantly drawn into the complex story. The investigation has more twists and turns than a roller coaster and it took me quite a while after I was done reading it to process all the assorted details to resolve the case. The HEA was perfect, and I loved the way he won her back in the end. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Burning Justice is the second book in the K-9 Special Ops series by Tee O’Fallon.
ATF Special Agent Brett Tanner and his K9 partner Blaze are on the trail of an arsonist.
Insurance investigator Gemma Scott has been researching fires and has found some connections between several that point to a calculating arsonist.
Brett was involved in a fire when he was younger so he knows how devastating fire can be and he can be single minded in his pursuit to stop fires and the person setting them. Gemma had a coworker show interest in a personal relationship with her only to steal her work and take credit for it, she is not big on trust or working with others.
Brett and Gemma team up to find out who is setting the fires, but will they be able to trust each other and work as a team. The closer they get to discovering who’s involved the more danger they’re in. Will they be able to solve these cases and keep each other safe?
I loved this book. The characters are amazing, and the story is original. This book had me from page one to the very last page. I consider this to be a must read.

Another amazing book by Tee O;Fallon. This is Brett and Gemma's story, and it is a good one! Forced to work together to catch a serial arsonist, the pair find themselves with lots of motives, pieces of information, but no real suspect. When things start to become clearer in the case, things get more dangerous for Brett and Gemma.
Fast paced, action filled, with some romance sprinkled in. Great combination.

Burning Justice is the second book in Tee O'Fallon’s K-9 Special Ops series and sure to have readers clamouring for more! Packed with action, suspense, K-9’s you can’t help but adore, and the added bonus of some off the charts passion and intense chemistry; what more could a reader want? The author writes realistic characters that have imperfections and emotional scars which form their cautious and guarded view on relationships. She also ensures that the plot is easy to follow, has a believable timeline and all the elements of a great story.
Ms O’Fallon is on my ‘Must Read’ list with this powerful and engaging series, and I can’t wait to see what she delivers next!

After narrowly surviving a childhood fire that killed two of his friends, ATF Special Agent Brett Tanner knows what it’s like to get too close to the flame. The trauma only spurs him and his K-9 partner to track down the arsonists targeting a Colorado town. This latest warehouse blaze looks suspicious as hell…and there’s a body. Now it’s murder.
Fiercely independent insurance investigator Gemma Scott has been burned enough times to know she doesn’t need anyone—especially a handsome agent with an agenda. Teaming up with the hardened and determined ATF agent means not just trusting her instincts…it also means trusting him.
Now they’re racing against an arsonist with a lethal agenda—one who’s willing to burn and kill to hide the evidence. But the killer is only part of a larger mystery. And the searing attraction between Gemma and Brett adds fuel to an already dangerously lethal fire.
This was an exciting and fast paced read. It hooks you from the very first page till the last. The suspense is thrilling, the mystery intriguing and the chemistry was steamy. The review cannot be complete without mentioning the K-9 Blaze, a fun, lovable Chesapeake Bay Retriever.

Wow. What a book! What an adventure I just went on. This book captivates you right from the beginning. At times, books can be a little boring with details as the opening chapters are using spent introducing the characters, setting, etc before getting into the heart of the plot and storyline. In Burning Justice, the main characters, Brett & Gemma are introduced together right in the beginning, and being directly involved on a current scene with little bits and pieces of the past trauma integrated in. All the details right in the first chapter beautifully set up introductions of Brett & Gemma and what we, the readers, were going to be in for.

Brett & Gemma are both hardworking employees in their respective fields- Brett Tanner: ATF Bureau = Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms & Gemma Scott: NICB = National Insurance Crime Bureau. Both are put together to investigate an arson case in which foul play is suspected. Brett has been fighting his own demons trying to find a serial arsonist that is responsible for killing two teenagers as well as battling trauma of a time when he was just a boy where is was the only one of his friends to escape an abandoned house fire they had snuck into before the fire erupted. Gemma has worked hard in a field primarily of men to show and prove herself worthy only to have her feet cut from underneath her by a co-worker she thought liked her but in the end stole a case from her and all her hard work.

What Brett thought was a dead end in the search for his serial arsonist becomes revived by Gemma and her thorough effort in her investigations of various suspected accidental fires of random homes and warehouses with signifcant insurance claims/payouts. Against both of their better judgments, they team up together to solve the mystery. It is during their investigations and research that sends them on a wild ride of intense moments as well as stirs & grows the attraction and admiration for each other.

I loved both of these characters. The author does a great job giving worthy dimensions of Gemma. You discover she is independent, confident, and knows limitations. She is willing to push herself harder - as evidence in her job research and the DIY work she does in her process of renovating her home. Brett is definitely swoon worthy. I like that he isn't portrayed as just a holt, popular jock back in the day but as a hardworking, knows his weaknesses, and other talents that are mentioned like he would work on/help remodel homes growing up. When he opens up about his trauma in the courtroom to help a troubled young man just pulls at your heart strings even more. And who doesn't love Blaze, his K-9 Chesapeak Bay Retriever?? He definitely adds to the story.

Tee definitely did her research when it came to writing this book. All the details going into solving arson cases, what to look for, various types of accelerants, etc all the way down to the end of the book in the acknowledgments section where you learn who she talked to, to help build her story and plot. You learn on various agencies work and protocols and so forth. When describing various scenes that Brett & Gemma encounter, she does an amazing job detailing scenes and I felt submerged in the story....that I could smells the smells, feel the heat, seeing the damages. The plot had quite a few twists and turns and just had me on the edge of my seat! Every piece of evidence had them on a goose chase, yet through it all it connected. There's a thrill of piecing together all the evidence and suspects and try to solved what was truly happening. Job well done!!

Last comments/opinions -- there is some language but fairly mild compared to some books I have read. I'd prefer not to have profanity especially the f-word. With all that to say, I do realize that in law enforcement field, you will find that kind of language so I appreciate the author giving a sense of realness - as if you are truly in side the minds of the characters and how they operate, etc. without being excessive. On a different note, the intimate scenes were not overly graphic but not closed door. I appreciate that crude words or terminology were not used here, and that the intimacy was something deeper for the characters and their connection to each other as their romance blossomed. Would have loved an epilogue but I'm anxious for Brett's friend, FBI agent, Evan's story to be the romance for her next book! Overall, well done!! Highly recommend!
