Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for granting me free access to the advanced digital copy of this book.
This was a great sports romance with a cute cover.
Ooof... this book... I was so excited for a soccer book. Especially one from the POV of a female player who is not a professional. Unfortunately this book was pretty awful and a one star read for me. The writing was highly confusing at times and the characters were borderline annoying. Nate was just completely awful and Elin is not much better. I managed to finish the book but I really wanted to stop about 20% in. Some people may enjoy but I was not one of them.
Thanks to NetGalley and Beck Erixson for the complimentary ARC of this book.
I liked the story but I feel pretty indifferent about the characters and the book in itself felt like there was something missing. I felt a bit confused at some points so unfortunately I can't give this book a higher rating.
This story has some cute and fun moments, but I don't like friends to lovers. It negates the fact that females and males can be friends without being attracted to each other.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone that loves friends-to-lovers and slowburn romances. Elin and Hawk were super cute friends and although I really wanted to love this one, I couldn't quite get behind it the whole way. I'm not a fan of either of those tropes to begin with, and Elin's ex was in the picture for far too long before they ended up getting together. This was a quick read but I don't think I would pick it up again for a reread.
Not for me, unfortunately. I don't read a ton of sports romance but when I do I love them. This one didn't hook me enough in the start for me to connect.
The romance in this story because I was LIVING for each and every second of it. 😭💘 My heart was bouncing all over the place. So loved it.
this was a sweet and easy read! there was nothing really bad about it, but nothing really memorable either. as far as friends to lovers romance books go, i've read better. the characters were likeable enough and their relationship felt pretty realistic, it didn't feel forced. overall, it was enjoyable, but i had some small issues. while the beginning of the story was slow, the ending felt quite rushed, especially when you consider how slow it had been going so far. this was also a slow burn romance and, on that side, it was really slowly burning. i don't usually mind those but i felt like it lacked the tension slow burns need to keep going. also, while it doesn't affect my rating of the book at all, i like my romance books with at least a little spice, but there wasn't much here. for some people, that might be something positive because i know lots of people enjoy closed door/little to no spice romance. for me, since a big part of the story was centered on them being friends with benefit, i expected more spice or at least more tension. i would recommend it if you like a sweet friends to lovers romance with little spice and a very slow burn.
I'm pretty bummed about this because friends-to-lovers and sports romance usually work so well for me, but unfortunately, there wasn't really a lot going on here. The love interests were not really together on page enough, and when they were, it was more confusing than awkward. The writing was a bit all over the place.
Thank you @netgalley and to the publisher for allowing me to read this ebook! I thought it was just okay. I felt it was lacking in some aspects, but overall good read.
This was an ARC I received from NetGalley that I forgot to download before the archive date earlier this year. I really wanted to read this one one so purchased a physical copy and finally got to it!
Feeling Ballsy is a best friends to lovers book focusing on Elin who just broke up with her boyfriend of 5 years. After catching her boyfriend cheating Elin turns to her steady as always best friend Hawk to lift her up.
Elin and Hawk have been friends for years and although there has always been some spark their timing has never been right. One of them or both are in a relationship until now.
As they navigate this strange new world together they come to an agreement. Make out sessions and cuddles won’t ruin their friendship so long as they keep their feelings out of it. We all know how this usually goes…..
I really loved the sound of this book and love me a friends to lovers slow burn relationship but this one didn’t quite hit. I found there were long details and parts of the story that added no value. Sometimes I had to go back to see if I had skipped a page or two because the writing was so disconnected. This is a 3 star read for me.

The amount of emotions i went through in this book… wow. This book did not disappoint, the build up to the dating was PERFECT and it felt like the best friends were a couple throughout the whole book.
hawk is all i want in a man let’s be real
DNF @ 41%. I am not digging "Feeling Ballsy" at all. In fact, I had to force myself to get this far. Elin, the main female character whose name I had to look up because she is so forgettable, is spineless and annoying at best. I could not understand her rationale for staying in a relationship situation that made her so unhappy, even after getting proof that her boyfriend was cheating on her. There is no chemistry between any of the characters, friendly, romantic, or otherwise. That's because, and I'm sorry to the author, the writing is so choppy and pedestrian. Important seeming plot points are skimmed over in favor of long-winded, unimportant details that serve no purpose and don't matter in the long run. This story is all over the place with tons of characters from various soccer teams who come and go willy nilly and whose names and personalities are not memorable. Character traits jump around and don't stick with their person. The pacing is atrocious. So far, the only thing that has happened has been Elin breaking up with her cheater boyfriend. Literally nothing else of consequence has happened yet. It is slowly paced, confusing, and grating. A+ for the book title, but not much else.
Thank you to NetGalley and Beck Erixson for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for my review.
Sadly, I did not enjoy this book. It was so predictable, but at the same time i felt like I was readying book about teenagers and not about adults. It was kind of dumb. And who would you choose - someone who doesnt respect you or someone who supports you and spends time with you no matter what?
This book is a slow burn, friends-to-lovers sports romance. I really wanted to love it, but in the end, it just fell flat for me. I think other people might enjoy it, and I'll definitely be giving this author another chance.
I received an ARC from NetGalley. This is my honest review.
I didnt like this book and its weird random time jumps. I also dont like stories that don't have POV for both, hawk shouldve had one.
Personally this was not it for me. I feel like the characters didn’t have chemistry. The story line is basically boy cheats on girl, girl gets with her guy bestie to help her “date” they catch feeling. But of course we say they don’t because who wants to ruin a 15 friendship. So they become friends w benefits.
I think the reason why I discontinued this were the characters. I just couldn't feel and connect to them. I also think the writing was kinda cringe.
I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.
I was looking forward to reading this book because I played soccer in high school and I love the friends-to-lover trope. I really struggled finishing this book and I would have DNF if it wasn't an ARC. This book had the elements to be a good story but the execution was off. The female main character was lacking a backbone while the male main character was the highlight of the story. The story felt choppy and I felt I was missing pages between each chapter since it would jump into a new situation with no resolution or connection from the previous pages. The book was chaotic and not in a good way with the timeline not making sense.
Friends to lovers are typically slow burn and it took a long time for them to get together (15 years!) but then they were jumping on each other at every chance while going on dates with others. I think there was too many story arc and it could have been refined to make the story more cohesive.
Thank you Netgalley for an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
