So sad to come to the end of the Tobacco Girls series! I have enjoyed getting to know the ladies and their friends and families in this series. Lizzie Lane always does a great job of sharing her characters with the reader. I think this book gives a great view into how lives were changed and how people from all over the world came together to fight for a great cause. Women grew by leaps and bounds in what they had to take on while the men were away fighting and you can see how the how world rapidly in just a few years. I always recommend Lizzie Lane books to friends.

Well we've followed the tobacco girls - Maisie, Phyllis and Bridget, along with Carole - through all the trials of a world war, we've wept and laughed with them and this is the final book in the series. War is ending, and what will peace bring for them. Maisie is happy living with Carole and her baby, but Carole's young man will probably want her to live in Liverpool with him. Maisie's own 'beau' has been a prisoner of the Japanese for years - will he return to her, and will their burgeoning love have survived the deprivations? Phyllis has her own struggles, as her husband suffered a serious head wound, and Bridget has to get her son and herself over to America to start a new life with Lyndon, leaving family, friends and all things familiar.

The author paints such a clear picture of these young women who have survived a major war and who have all been affected in different ways. And now we look to peace and what that will mean for women in general, who have stepped up and worked in factories and gained some independence in wartime.

A lovely series, I thoroughly enjoyed each book and would wholeheartedly recommend them as an interesting and uplifting read. Thank you so much to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for allowing me access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have loved each and every one of the Tobacco Girls books and this was a fitting finale, a few tears, the endings of some stories, the beginnings of others. I am so sad to be saying goodbye to Bridget, Maisie and Phyllis and I hope, one day, Lizzie Lane might be persuaded to give us one more glimpse into how their lives turned out!
I love reading series of books, especially set in the war eras, but, the longer the series, the sadder I feel that these characters will no longer be keeping me updated with the comings and goings in their lives!
I can't wait to read Lizzie's next book!

What a wonderful book, I’ve loved reading this series and seeing the lives change for the characters Maisie, phylis and Bridget. It almost felt like saying goodbye to old friends. I wanted to read it quickly to see what happens but also to savour it as it’s the last one. So many twists and turns it kept me hooked from the first page, this is a very sad farewell to the tobacco girls.

A Fond Farewell for the Tobacco Girls by Lizzie Lane

I didn't want to read this book , not because I didn't enjoy the other two but because as a trilogy this is the end of the road for our 3 lovely ladies. Boo.
Loved following the story of these and The life , loves and tragedies that came their way throughout the war.
Lizzie Lane certainly knows her stuff when it comes to this era , but whilst I wipe a tear mourning the loss , I'm sure it won't be long before she gives us another brilliant book / series for us to fall in love with.
Goodbye ladies , gone but not forgotten.

The three M’s motto was never truer “ Once known, never to be forgotten “ I couldn’t stop thinking, how did things work out for each of them after they had made their decisions which would map their lives.
The girls Bridget, Maisie & Phyllis each difficulties blocking their futures, how will they handle them. You think you know how it will unfold when something/someone comes along and changes the path to happiness.
Maisie still awaiting the safe return of Sid who is prisoner of was in Changi. Her lodger Carole meets with an accident which means Maisie has to make decisions about her future.
Bridget keeps delaying her return to Lyndon in America, as she finds leaving her friends and family difficult. This is made easier by Patrick who she thinks of as her real father.
Phyllis and Mick have huge plans for setting up home in Australia when Mich receives devastating news which means he may have to change plans. The difficulties that arises from this causes some issues, then along comes the help of Bill Hargreaves.
While I absolutely loved the book I can’t help thinking there is still room for another book telling how each of the girls get on.
I found Sid’s story to be the saddest.

I was really looking forward to reading the last instalment of the three Ms in A Fond Farewell for the Tobacco Girls. It was a great ending, although I would have loved to of read more about the future, maybe 5 years on. Lizzie Lane did a wonderful job as I felt Bridget’s fears of a travelling to America, Phyllis’s concern for her future and Maisie’s happies for hers. A gripping historical fiction story of friendship, love and family as they settled into a world after having lost so much during the war. I highly recommend reading the Tobacco Girls following their journey from Bristol as young women before the war, to strong mature women with a strong friendship after the war.
I would like to thank Boldwood Books, NetGalley and the author for the opportunity to read this complimentary copy for an honest review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
