A group of misfits ends up on an alien artifact running for their lives. This kind of reminded me of Aurora Rising, but not quite as good. I really enjoyed the banter and the camaraderie, the twists with Ian and Kali, and the romance. But it really felt like it was missing something.

The Starlight was the star of the show for me. I'm looking forward to seeing where the next book takes us.

I really enjoyed this book, the plot was good, the cast of characters was diverse and entertaining, I really enjoyed that there was multiple POVs throughout the book. It definitely gave off breakfast club meets firefly vibes like the blurb says. I’m giving this 4 stars because while it was an enjoyable read, the first half felt like it dragged a little bit and didn’t really pick up until about 60% in, But overall I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to book 2

I typically adore sci-if and space drama sounded like something right up my alley. I had read this author before and enjoyed her YA books and was excited to read something more new adult. I loved the excitement and plot but unfortunately the characters felt very juvenile at times and some of the interactions and conversations had me cringing a bit. I flew through the beginning but the middle was a bit of a struggle for me. Over all I enjoyed this and I loved the multiple POV but I’m probably not going to continue with the second book as this one just wasn’t for me.

TW: parental death, classism, potential genocide, mentions of torture and abuse

I'm really unsure how to rate this book. On one hand I think if you know Tracy Wolff's work and style you'll think this is a vast improvement to her writing (maybe thanks to Nina). But on the other hand if you don't know her work and you're coming into this blind I think you might not even make it through the entire book before giving up. Tracy's writing tends to be more juvenile even if marketed as New Adult, and Star Bringer was no exception. There's loads of juvenile humor, horny characters who are making out within hours of meeting each other, and less than stellar world building. All the complaints I've seen in reviews are valid but I think you just have to take this with a grain of salt and understand that this is just an entertaining read and not a classic sci-fi masterpiece. Think Starship Troopers not Star Wars.

I really enjoyed this as an audiobook and to be honest I actually preferred to read it that way this time. It helped keep the FOUR POVs separate in my mind and the narrators were really good. I especially adored Mia Barron and Liv Anderson, they were excellent.

Overall a decent entertaining read but I'm not sure many people will love it unless they already know Tracy Wolff's style. Thank you so much to Entangled Publishing for gifting me an eARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book was so good! I don’t typically gravitate towards sci-fi but this one was so well done. Anxiously waiting for book 2 so I can devour it!

This book was out of my ordinary but I had to try it. Was definitely not disappointed and so glad I read it. It was a lot in the beginning but it was worth it.

I somehow ended up reading several young adult fantasy books this summer and found them all to be interesting escapism. Star Bringer was among them. I liked the characters though I didn't love any of them. They all had much more back story than their first appearances would lead the reader or each other to realize. After a major catastrophe our cast of assorted characters find themselves on a stolen spaceship with abilities they've never seen and barely understand. The "princess", the two guards who are obviously not corporation devotees, the priestess, her guard, the corporate computer geek, the prisoner - all have secrets and goals that don't necessarily coincide. Survival comes first before anyone can follow their desired path. Many secrets exists that throw new light on the corporation, the empire and the sisterhood and it takes quite a while for motives and tactics come to light. All while dodging repeated threats on the crew's lives.

Interesting characters, tons of intrigue and mystery and lots of action make for a fun read that isn't limited to young adults to enjoy (I assure you I'm not in the target demographic at all!)

This is a thickum folks and I was not prepared for how quick it went! I've seen this noted as having Breakfast Club vibes and I gotta admit its pretty darn close. A misfit crew ends up on an alien artifact ship running for their lives. Chosen ones, princesses, inmates and more make up this ragtag gang. It is SO easy to love each character and their individual differences and flaws. There is a decent amount of inner monologuing and I did feel it could have been slightly shorter but I was also kinda sad when it ended. I know.. I know.. Eye roll at us readers. I just can't deny how fun a ride this was.

The chemistry was totally my jam. It's not overloaded but when the scenes start steaming, its done with a lot of yum. I loved that it's a mixed bag in the relationship department too. The sapphic and the vanilla were both equally so damn hot. There are also some very interesting plot twists that I did not see coming and one in particular I'm still debating my feelings on. This book kept me on my toes.

I definitely enjoyed this one and that cliffhanger already has book two on my radar. I had the exciting luck of winning an advanced digital copy from the Redtower gang and I cannot thank them enough! If you are a fan of action packed sci-fi space adventures with well crafted characters, well done political structures, world building, chemistry and characters than ... Yup... You know this is for you.

This was such a fun read! You have 7 very different individuals stuck together on a sketchy spaceship. They are forced together to survive, and as the story comes together we learn more and more plot twists that really keep the action moving! In addition, this is a multi-POV narration, which was important because the cast of characters is so diverse, from all walks of life and with various interests that often time collide with one another and yet, somehow become like a family.
There is romance and political intrigue galore, and both work together within all the other action (the whole “slight” problem with the sun, ahem) to make this an enjoyable read and great start to hopefully many more adventures! I enjoyed this book enough to immediately buy a hard copy when I saw it out early in the store!

I cannot believe that I thought this was a standalone and now am waiting on that cliffhanger for a year.

I really enjoyed the Crave series by Tracy Wolff and knew I would need to see her adventure into the sci-fi genre, especially when you throw in the advertisement of it being like Firefly. Knowing her previous audience, I went in with the expectation of this being more YA than NA.

+ Found Family
+ Band of Misfits
+ Multiple POV
+ Sentient Sassy Ship

Star Bringer is a fast paced adventure told from multiple POVs that allows you into the perspective and minds of each member on board the ship. Not only are we able to see each character's thoughts, relationships/allegiances, and feelings, but also a unique perspective of the world and political environment that they all live in. The found family aspect, despite backgrounds that pit some as rivals/enemies, is endearing and I loved seeing how the crew came together.

There's multiple relationships that we get glimpses of with so many characters, but the enemies-to-lovers dynamic of the princess, Kali, and mercenary, Ian, had to be my favorite. There's so much angst and tension between the two of them, and Ian's broody yet protective nature made him the standout male character for me.

While the plot of the system nearing its impending doom with the destruction of the sun was intriguing and set in a politically charged setting, the characters stole the show. Their dynamic and growth overshadowed the sci-fi plot of the story for me. The last 1/3rd of the book really was where the story began to shine and pick up. Each page became more gripping than the last and I found myself unable to put it down right until that final page where I realized we weren't getting the resolution I had anticipated, but instead a cliffhanger as we were led into book 2.

Red Tower has once more maintained the place in my heart where I will preorder every book that they list for order without needing to even read a title let alone description. Each book they have released has been absolutely amazing and I look forward to what they continue to do.

This was such an interesting read. I really enjoyed this book and it was such a different style and I loved the characters. I did find the middle to drag a bit but I can't wait to continue this series.

Buckle up for a literary joyride! Star Bringer catapults readers into an electrifying sci-fi escapade that's like blending the essence of Aurora Rising, The Breakfast Club, and Firefly in a genre-bending blender. Picture this: a chaotic explosion brings together a motley crew of seven, setting the stage for a pulse-pounding plot where survival becomes a team sport. And guess what? These newfound buddies are a hot target for some "dead or alive" action.

But hold onto your space helmets, because the storytelling is as dynamic as the characters themselves. The narrative unfolds through multiple viewpoints, like a high-stakes soap opera. There's Kali, the regal princess; Ian, the dashing mercenary; Rain, the spiritually-inclined high priestess; and Beckett, the jailbreak expert, among others. These aren't just characters, they're a buffet of personalities, each bringing a unique flavor to the feast.

The multiple perspectives aren't just there for show, they're the sauce that adds spice to the setting, political intrigue, and whatnot. The characters themselves? As multi-layered as a cosmic onion. And the relationships? Oh, they're juicier than a space orange. Friends, family, foes, and a ship with more secrets than a gossip column – it's all there. Watching these misfits evolve into a dysfunctional yet heartwarming space family is like seeing a sitcom in zero gravity.

Romance, anyone? Oh, absolutely! Two love stories take center stage. Kali and Ian? Think of them as the space version of love-hate dynamite, with chemistry that could power a starship. And don't even get me started on Ian – he's like the brooding heartthrob who forgot to read the "anti-swoon" manual.

Then there's Beckett and Rain – their romance is like the cosmic version of opposites attract. While Ian and Kali are spitting fire, these two are all about soft, sweet, and saucy. It's like watching an interstellar telenovela with a dash of sci-fi.

Star Bringer isn't just a story; it's a gravitational pull for your emotions. It's like a black hole for your sleep schedule – you won't rest until you know who's chasing who and what's blowing up next. Between impending solar doom, political games, rebellions, and some alien pizzazz, the stakes are higher than a satellite's orbit. But hey, no pressure, right?

And let's not forget the grand finale – a fireworks display of twists, turns, and tantalizing questions. The plot wraps up some threads, but it's like a buffet where you just want to keep sampling. Plus, that jaw-dropping revelation at the end is the cherry on top, leaving you hankering for the sequel like a space explorer yearning for the next wormhole.

Major shoutout to Entangled Publishing for the mind-blowing ride.

Sometimes I have issues with reading things in ebook vs. print. So I wanted to wait to do this review until I could try this in both formats. Well unfortunately for me this book was just not done well. I am so sad that I ended up DNFing this one since I am a giant fan of Tracy Wolff. But sadly this one was just not good. I think that the world building wasn't don't to its fullest and the writing was just confusing for the most part. The characters felt more middle grade with horney issues than the new adult/adult title it was supposed to be. Even a lot of the snark felt like it would work better for lower young adult. I wanted to love this one but it was just so bad. And I wonder if I read the same book as the people that I know in a group has read because they die hard loved this one.

Star Bringer by Tracy Wolff and Nina Croft is a fantastic read. I absolutely LOVED it! Everyone needs to read this book. Even if you are not into sci-fi/space fantasy, you still should read this book because it is epic and this universe is brilliant.

Tracy really knows how to get you to care about characters and she doesn't disappoint with this book. Like I am INVESTED and need to know everything about them and need them all in my life. This is a great group of characters and they all blend well together. I thought having different points of views would throw me off, but it was easy to follow and know who you are reading about.

The story is amazing with all of the twists and turns and it kept me on my toes. I laughed, I cried, I gasped, and felt so many different emotions while reading. The romance is top notch and the spiciness is perfect.

Do I just start making my paychecks out to Red Tower books now or….?

All of my favorite books this year are being published by Red Tower, just saying. 😂

Starbringer was excellent. I loved the diversity of characters, the complexity of the religious and political situations, and the fun mayhem that happens IN SPACE!

I cannot wait for the next one after that ending and I honestly cannot recommend this enough.

The Breakfast Club in space is a perfect description and it is worth all the hype!

Thank you so much to Red Tower/Entangled for the advanced copy!

I was so excited to read Star Bringer. I am a Science Fiction / Fantasy nerd at heart. My favorite shows growing up were either based in the future, had aliens (Alf) or space in them. So reading a book hailed as a band of misfits in space sounded right up my alley.

A princess, a priestess & her guard, a prison inmate, a corporation worker and two shadowy characters all arrive on the same ship looking for a way off an exploding star ship. Star Bringer is told from these characters' points of view. Which honestly got a bit confusing at times. We see them try to work together to explain the situation, that is until they realize they are all being attacked. With the cast on board it could be anyone wanting them dead. How will they come to trust, love and support each other? We will see.

Star Bringer has two main love stories both with instant attraction. The rest of the crew rotated around these two relationships. The amount of world building and inherent confusion to a new world was a bit more than I was used to. I think some more humor would have helped. In the end the story fell flat for me. I think I was expecting a The Expanse-esque book and got more of a Guardians of the Galaxy.

Thank you to Entangled Publishing for my advanced copy. You made this little nerd’s heart so happy for the approval.

Let me just start off with saying I have no idea what other people are talking about when they mention the TV shows and movies this one is like because I don't watch TV shows or movies. BUT this book was amazing! I was sucked into it in the first few pages and did not want to put it down. If I didn't have life, I probably would have read this in one sitting, it was that good. I loved the characters and how unique the story was. I loved all the action. I pretty much loved everything about this book.

This book had four character POVs, so you get to know different characters. Each of those characters ends up pairing up as a couple. One of the couples were enemies-to-lovers. The other couple was more insta-love, which I didn't love, but it wasn't a dealbreaker to not give this book 5 stars. And I loved the ship. That has nothing to do with the characters, but I kind of thought of the ship as a character, so I guess it kind of works. But whatever. We will just ignore my rant now.

Go read this Sci-Fi romance book! It's amazing and I loved it!

“As crews go, we’re a goddamn disaster. A princess, a priestess, a bodyguard, a prisoner, a con artist, a goofball, and me, self-appointed asshole in charge of them all.”

If you’re a romantasy girly looking to get into sci-fi, this is a great book to get you started. The sun is dying, and the galaxy’s only hope is seven misfits on board a spaceship with a mind of its own.

Star Bringer is a fun and fast paced romantic sci-fi filled with a unique case of characters, spice, and action. It gave me big space adventure “save the galaxy vibes” without it being too much heavy lifting on the brain in terms of science. There are multiple POVs from the cast and it was great bouncing around and seeing the story get fleshed out between the different characters as we got to know them more. It is one of those books that sucked me in and didn’t let me go, at least until the 50% mark. Once we hit that halfway mark, I felt my interest diminishing as the pacing started to feel a bit clunky. Some important scenes felt really rushed while we sat in other scenes for what felt like ages. Due to this, I think the plot suffered in being a bit dragged out and not as concise. I would have loved to see more world building and discovery from the characters, some plot elements felt handed over instead of earned. This book definitely felt like it could have been a bit shorter.

For the romances, I enjoyed them for the most part. It was forced proximity and a bit of insta love (which is not my favorite) but the character’s dynamics were filled with tension that lead to some spice. We had two main relationships, one M/F and one sapphic. While they were trope filled, I loved them both, I just wish there was a bit more development between characters in the relationships.

Overall, this is a fun read and I will be picking up the sequel, I just wish things were a bit more fleshed out.

Thank you to Engtangled Publishing and Red Tower Books for the early copy of Star Bringer!

I knew before diving into Star Bringer I would love it. I've read books by Tracy before, but this was my first time reading a book written by Nina Croft. It took me until 44% in to actually start loving it. I enjoy the characters separately but the couples fell flat. Both seemed rushed and I honestly didn't get the chemistry between them but I'm sure the couples will grow on me more throughout the series. After the 44% mark the plot started to catch my attention a lot more and the ENDING... I have such a love/hate relationship with cliffhangers lol. Overall I had fun reading Star Bringer, I will definitely pick up the next book!
